  1. Savio Vega vs. Bradshaw (Caribbean Strap Match) (Mind Games 1996) - This started off really vicious with some nasty strap shots, Bradshaw stiffing Vega and some brutal post shots on the outside. Sandman interferes in the match, leading to ECW wrestlers being ejected and as the commotion happens outside, Bradshaw grabs a headlock until they are done. Not a bad strategy since the crowd wasn't really into these two anyway but why fight an ECW interruption? After they get back on course, more stiff strap shots including Bradshaw taking a strap to the face and both guys taking wicked whiplash bumps especially Savio who wnet for a corner and ended up turning 180. Looked really good. Predictable finish with Bradshaw touching the corners, Savio secretly following and then getting the 4th corner before Bradshaw. The ECW interruption and the dead crowd doesn't help this but it was a fun match to sit through.

I sort of agree with both of you. I think everyone who went in to Battleground expected a screwjob. People actually thought Bryan would win at HIAC. Coupled with Cena's return and I think you have the high number.

  4. Oh well, enough about Brick. If anyone else feels like going off the deep end, it's cool if you just disappear. You don't have to delete your posts and make a scene. Just disappear. Nobody will be mad at you.
  5. Just rewatched this for the LAwler set and this was really fun as a standalone match. The foot kissing stip is stupid but not even the dumbest thing I have seen this week. Early on, Bret is taking out his frustrations on King and Lawler sells like a champ. Pretty great transition to Lawler on offense as Lawler yanks Bret into the stairs in a nasty bump. All of Lawler's stuff on offense looks good including his boot shots when he takes the boots off. Move freaks probably hate Lawler stalling and jawing with the fans but I love that shit. It also proves to be his undoing as it allows Bret to recover and kick out of the piledrivers. The Hakushi interference didn't bother me and his screw up even allowed Bret to get back on offense. Good match and Lawler looked good. Bret looked really good too except for a so-so Russian Legsweep.
  6. There was no style clash. In fact, they sort of compliment each other. If Roddy's "friend" wasn't in the match and the finish looked better, I don't think people would have a negative reaction at all.
  7. Yeah, watching the stuff from Dandy prior to 89 for the lucha set, I never felt like Dandy was an inferior worker to anyone who was in the ring. We don't have much but what we do have, He was pretty freaking good.
  8. SO I rewatched Jerry Lawler vs. Roddy Piper from KOTR 1994. This match gets a bum rap. Lawler bumps huge (including a nasty bump outside off an atomic drop) and they have a really nifty brawl going until Roddy decides to "save" his impersonator. That turns the tide and Lawler works Piper over with some chokes and a sleeper. Perfectly fine stuff but nothing embarrassing. The crowd is hot for Piper and hate Lawler. After Jerry takes too long to pin Piper after the piledriver, they get a near fall and eventually have a punching contest leading to a couple of Piper bulldogs. Piper goes for another but gets thrown into the ref leading to the Lawler mysterious object. A groggy ref counts with Lawler's legs on the ropes but the impersonator pushes the legs off the ropes. Piper recovers and hits an ugly back suplex for the pin. Man, that finish was butt ugly. The impersonator saving shit was dumb but the rest of the match was perfectly fine. I want Phil to watch this. I can see how a tape trader in 1994 watching this would roll their eyes but it isn't nearly as bad as I was expecting. In fact, most of it was pretty damn fun.
  9. Fuck that shit. Slayer Harley ruled.
  10. Stop planting seeds.
  11. Are you fucking kidding me??? I just went in the thread right now. The fucking Harley Race pics are gone? WTF?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
  12. I think he realized his Chiefs were going to over-achieve this year and didn't want to honor the bets. To be fair, the way my Pack has played since Rodgers went down, it would have been an even swap. In all kidding aside, I may pin the Harley Race thread to remind us of happier times.

  21. I am becoming a huge fan of this move too. Also, there ar eso many cool lucha submissions, I don't know the names of them all.
  22. Agreed! They were under the assumption that BRyan was a ratings killer (and he may be) but Randy Orton has also tanked on top.
  23. Which makes it worse
  24. I tuned out of the main event to watch some Lawler Memphis matches. I don't regret it.
  25. Crowd's turning on the match.
