  1. Mr JMML

    Hisakatsu Oya

His FMW work deserves a deep dive.
  2. This guy has a lot of good stuff: https://www.youtube.com/@prowrestlingmags/videos
  3. Bill Watts is a genius booker, his ideas were revolutionary and his legacy is more than the bad booker that destroyed the momentum of WCW in 1992. Somehow those crazy twist and turns made sense at the time, this is hard to believe considering the finish of this particular match, they set storylines up very well thanks to those endings that at first, look terrible then made you look bad. I love it, Bill Watts made everything special and that’s what I want in my wrestling, unique ideas with great execution like when Wahoo McDaniel turned The Spoiler’s mask so he couldn’t see where Wahoo was, that ended in a DQ but that can’t happen in the match I’m reviewing today because this is a No DQ tag team match so no rules, it means that tag partners can intervene and most importantly the wrestlers can jump off the top rope which is forbidden in any Bill Watts’ booked promotion. It’s only one fall, in the left corner the heel team of Matt Borne ( in a few years Doink the Clown) and Ted Dibiase the son of ‘‘Iron’’Mike Dibiase the legendary wrestler that had his prime during the 1960’s. In the right corner the babyface team of the hottest babyface in the territory at that time Junkyard Dog and the masked man Mr Olimpia. Now the match, it’s Loser Leaves Town so whoever loses has to abandon the territory for 90 days, during most of the match Mr Olimpia is manhandled by the heel team until he tagged Junkyard Dog and the babyfaces comeback began, it looked like the face team was going to win when a giant gorilla entered in the ring that turned out to be ‘‘Hackshaw’’ Jim Duggan, so because of the help from the gorilla Matt Borne and Ted Dibiase won. If you like Mid-South you have to watch this match, the crowd made the contest better reacting to every move like it was the last.
  4. I only hope that Danielson's arm will be okay for Wembley.
  5. Samoa Joe's 2005 is legendary no one came close.
  6. Exactly, as a wrestler it has to be Lesnar.
  7. Best headbutt: Kintaro Oki
  8. Buddy entered the ring with Rip Rogers, his manager, as soon as the match started he started with his antics, he bumped after a monkey flip and the crowd went nuts at Adonis’ comeback, Adrian failed to connect with a splash, Buddy took advantage of the situation and eventually won the first fall. The playboy was very dominant during the second but a sunset flip on the outside of the ring gave the fall to the underdog Adonis to the surprise of everyone in attendance. The finish of this match isn’t particularly good with Rogers intervining for a DQ finish that gave the win to Adonis. I loved this match not even the DQ finish was enough to ruin it, if you like Buddy Rose you’ll like this match.
  9. I don’t know how to start with this one, I’m not entirely sure of what I just witnessed, it was an unsettling experience to say the least, this might be either the greatest match I’ve ever seen or an incident that happened in a small joshi promotion in 2008. It’s like if Dump Matsumoto went to Battlarts and started shooting on an unsuspecting victim, it’s like a modern version of her 1986 match against Itsuki Yamazaki that made my Greatest Match Ever ballot, the offense is so vicious that I tought for a moment that the match was a shoot because I’ve never seen anything like this before, it’s full of hatred, it’s the most uncooperative match I’ve seen since I saw New Jack vs Gypsy Joe and I’m not sure if that can be considered a match. You have to see it to believe it, when I read the reviews of the match I said to myself: ‘‘They’re exaggerating, it can’t be that bad’’. How wrong I was, it’s stiff and legitimately hard to watch, it’s like Black Terry vs Mr Cóndor, absolute madness from beginning to the very end. Now let’s take a look at the action, the match started before the bell even rang, Kana went hard at her opponent and Kyoko responded in kind, this back and forth was just the beginning, that pace was going to be maintained during the entirety of the contest. Kimura busted Kana open with one of the most vicious headbutts in the history of wrestling, it landed with such force that I thought she was unconscious but she wasn’t so she fought back, another thing that I wanted to point out is both wrestlers’ desire to hold the submissions as much as possible making the referee’s job a lot harder, the match ended in a no contest so no one was declared the winner. If you like Dump Matsumoto or shoot-style this is the match for you.
  10. This match is a tag team gauntlet match it means that if someone was pinned he will be replaced by another member of the team like in any other gauntlet you’ve seen before, like Ishingun vs Sekigun in April 19th 1984 that you’re probably familiar with. The Burning team is formed by: Akihiko Ito, Atsushi Aoki, KENTA, and Kenta Kobashi. The Kensuke Office team is formed by: Katsuhiko Nakajima, Kensuke Sasaki, Kento Miyahara, and Takashi Okita. This is rightfully considered one of the best matches of 2008, there are two wrestlers in this match that I’m sure some of you didn’t recognize Akihiko Ito and Takashi Okita, these wrestlers weren’t a big part of the match, in fact, as we’ll see they were used as meatbags for the main guys to pin so don’t worry. This was the match that settled the feud between NOAH and Kensuke Office, the main attraction of the feud being Kenta Kobashi vs Kensuke Sasaki but as you can tell it involved a lot of midcarders into the mix, Katsuhiko Nakajima and KENTA were in the middle of their respective primes, they played a major role in the match being the partners of Kobashi and Sasaki respectibly, the match is one hour long and did an awesome job showcasing the best from each company. After that lengthy introduction it’s time for the breakdown of the match, the first pairing is KENTA and Aoki vs Miyahara and Okita, the pace in the first fifteen minutes is amazing, it’s absolutely filled with spots and kicks, it’s the opposite of what I’ve been reviewing in the last few days, after a thrilling sequence Aoki eliminates Kento Miyahara with an armbar, Sasaki enters the ring, almost inmediately Sasaki made Aoki tap to a boston crab and Ito is eliminated fast, the crowd laughed when he entered. The next one is Kenta Kobashi. Kobashi eliminated Okita with a sleeper and now the match is KENTA and Kenta Kobashi vs Katsuhiko Nakajima and Kensuke Sasaki, after 35 minutes of good action but not exactly great Nakajima pinned KENTA. The last pairing of the match was a great disappointment for me anyways I’d recommend this match if you love the workers.
  11. A great wrestler until 1984.
  12. ARSION was probably promotion of the year so Yoshida sounds about right.
  13. I really like Hashimoto's work in the NJPW vs UWF-I feud.
  14. I recommended some of Tamura's matches from that year here: https://gweproject.freeforums.net/thread/2593/jmml-watches-wrestling?page=2
  15. I hope someday we'll have it.
  16. Joshi wasn't included in DVDVR 80's.
  17. I've watched him, some of his videos are entertaining.
  18. The best match of one of my favourite wrestlers, I absolutely recommend this match to everyone interested in filthy brawls.
  19. The announcer presented both wrestlers as champions in their respective countries, Clive Myers is Jamaican and Alan Sargeant is English. Alan SarGeant was famous for his amazing escapes and he showed that from the very beginning of the contest escaping Myers’ full nelson with ease. Sargeant felt like the better wrestler troughout the match, he escaped a boston crab in a way that I can’t describe with words. After twenty minutes of action the match went to the third round, the third round is full of pin attempts and high impact moves like the butterfly suplexes that Myers applied, after 21 minutes Myers got the pin with a sunset flip. A match that I highly recommend this match to everyone that likes catch-as-catch-can wrestling.
  20. I can't wrap my head around how Tony Khan saw them and said to himself I want to run a company with them being one of the main attractions.
  21. Mr JMML
