Cesaro isn't working for the Authority, and isn't Bryan's former partner. Do we REALLY want Cesaro to be the first challenger? He needs to feud with Bryan, but not yet.

So, besides the awesome Kane beatdown that was some bad ass old school Pro Rasslin' style heel shit, this was a really fun show, better than last week, which was really good. ~Holy Fuck, Barrett vs Sheamus was good shit. Bad News is the perfect example of what you always hear guys like Austin and Ross talk about, in regards to "taking a gimmick, making it yours, embrace it, and that's how to get over." The fact that he's gonna be a face sooner than later with this gimmick is cool as fuck, and I didn't see it coming. ~Both Bo Dallas vignettes were god damned genius. I've seen so many dopey videos like these in corporate meetings back in my old profession, and these are dead on. They remind me also of these stupid inspirational presentations they'd show us in high school. ~The promo video for the midget feud was well done, and the match was fun for what it was. ~ Evolution coming out dressed well looked fucking bad ass, and the whole segment kicked ass. The new Evolution TitanTron video was cool showing them young and then now, as was the video proper. Shield coming out with the attitude "Hey Old men, we're the bad asses around here now!" was great, as was HHH looking at them with scorn as he used his power to bring out the heel squad. ~Tag match was ok. We're getting the Rhodes brothers breakup that I'm looking forward to, if just for the promos to explain it. Ryback is so good on the mic, shit..he was the best wrestling announcer all night, besides Cole during the Bryan massacre. ~ Remember the mid to late 80's WWF where no one was married or had a family until Jake Roberts and Cheryl ? No one existed before they were in the WWF and no one had a wife or kids. Now, in one show we see them acknowledging marriages. Times have changed. ~The Crowd DID pop for the pink Cobra to be fair. ~Weird miscue with Paul getting cut off, and boy...a LOT of the camera work tonight stunk. So many cut aways to Heyman during this match and Lana during the Rusev match that looked awful. ~ I need to start a "NO H8" movement for RVD. That match was perfectly fine, and got really good by the end. I realize that RVD could save a widow and ten orphans from a burning building while delivering Meals On Wheels and some of you would still hate him, but I digress. DAMN, did RVD get killed with that flip powerbomb. And yes,, the crowd didn't care about RVD. You could tell by the crowd chanting "RVD". It's a known fact that chanting a guy's name means they don't care about him. What they didn't care about was headlock spots. I totally loved the Blassie, Albano, Grand Wizard and Bobby Davis mentions. This might have been the first time the Wizard has been mentioned on WWE TV in decades. The ending totally worked, as Cesaro didn't get pinned and they can now have a main event on SD that people will tune in for. I know "RVD beat Cesaro" causes people to cry and shit their pants, but the way it was done made total sense. But again, boy...was there some terrible, terrible quick cuts and shots from the production crew here. If there was a choice between showing the ring action or Heyman being all method, they went with Heyman. ~Paige is hot. And she fucking smashed Aksana's nose in. ~Rusev reminds me of the Tazmaniac. A Lot. Match was fun. Handicap match at the PPV seems off. Truth should be able to be a guy who handles Rusev but gets beat solo. I'm guessing they do some sort of "Woods gets beat" and pisses off Truth deal. ~ The whole Wyatt/ Cena deal is so much fun. Wyatt is the PERFECT foil/ arch-enemy for Cena. Cena's had lots of rivals and they've always been about titles pretty much, with some personal stuff thrown in. This is Dusty/ Sullivan, Valiant/ Jones, etc stuff. I want this to go on forever. The fact that they've taken the crowd singing along and waving and using it as a part of the story, ie: Wyatt gaining followers everywhere and parts of the crowd are "rejecting " Cena and embracing The Wyatts is some cool slick work.

I was enjoying Corporate Kane but this was the evil monster character done right. No dopey "throwing a guy off a cliff" or "Electrocute his balls", (as funny as that was), but the simplicity and scariness of three fucking tombstone piledrivers on the floor, the stairs, and a table.

That sounds like a really weird and possibly wrong "news report". Cesaro has been getting over with cheers for some time now, with no "Were gonna recreate Bryan" shit. They ran with it by having him quit the Real Americans and win the Battle Royal at Mania. He turned face then and the Heyman reveal was the swerve that he hadn't turned good guy but had just upgraded managers. Why would they now start a "fake" crowd demands a face turn ? I mean, I know he's gonna turn face sooner than later, but this all seems jumbled.

More Early PPV Landscape Questions + WM2 Confusion.
Johnny Sorrow replied to slabinski611's topic in Pro Wrestling
We both lived in central New Jersey, me in Ringoes which had no cable, and Wolfman lived in the next town over, Flemington, which did have cable but no PPV of Mania 2. -
A company guy who followed instructions to the letter back then. Like I said, Jericho revealed that they were all told to shit on Warrior. HHH being the ultimate company guy complied in a big way. Now HHH is the company. He can publicly say that he really was a fan of the guy, which makes sense. Warrior even joked with him about it during his speech when he said something about guys who barely knew him saying what a jerk he was and said with a smile, "Right, Paul?".

You're missing the point. NOBODY is trying to say he was a great in ring wrestler or super duper top draw. They are saying he was a larger than life personality who entertained a generation at a special time in wrestling, which isn't a rewrite, it's accurate. Yeah, exactly. I always hated the Ultimate Warrior character and he was definitely a part of me losing interest in wrestling back in the day. But he wasn't FOR me at the time. Over the last two weeks I've really "gotten" how important the guy was to a generation of kids who are now adults. And to me, the fact that a generation lost a a Super Hero that was part of their childhood is a lot more important than me thinking he stunk, he failed on top, or was a crazy nut with his social and political opinions. That shit doesn't fucking matter at all here. The outpouring of emotion from people who felt that Ultimate Warrior was a hero when they were kids and that two young kids lost their Dad is all that matters .

Ok, so 14 years ago. You don't think HHH was towing the corporate line then? I know that in the minds of lots of fans every single thing a guy has ever said or done has to still be an active factor in what they're like now, but that's actually a fucking insane way to interpret people, especially in the entertainment biz. Shit, let's say, yes...in 2000 HHH really was harboring ill feelings and had bad things to say about Warrior. Why is it so inconceivable that after 14 years his feelings have changed? I know for certain that 14 years ago I said a lot of shit I know was stupid now.

Well, we didn't even have cable yet in our town. And my buddy who I went with, Wolfman, had cable but it didn't carry it I guess. So for us it was, Nassau, then Chicago, then LA with no problems I can recall. -

I didn't even know Mania 2 was on PPV. We watched it closed circuit at a firehouse. -
Well, no one liked Scrappy Doo and most people thought Pete Rose was an asshole for fucking up Ray Fosse in the All Star Game.

Tex Slazenger and Shanghai Pierce / The Godwinns / Southern Justice
Johnny Sorrow replied to C.S.'s topic in The Microscope
Well, it probably was. From their perspective it was probably hard to work with them as they had two completely different styles. -
And Howard was arguably at his hottest in the mid 90s. No one was gonna beat him especially in New York.
-
And while it may be true that Hot 97 was thinking about hiring him to be against Howard, he would have been killed dead. "I would have kicked Howard Stern's ass" is the biggest bullshit claim Heymans ever made. It's glorious in the world of Pro Wrestling Bullshit claims of greatness that no one, including Heyman, actually thinks is true.

I want to hear happy drunk Austin and Nash "booking the territory", swapping stories, and bullshitting. I remember when Austin first mentioned that Nash was one of his best friends in wrestling back when his book came out, and lots of people online had head explosions like Scanners. It was like even the "smartest" of fans couldn't process the idea.

Parv trying to think of the name of a midget wrestler and coming up with "Beaverbrook" is fucking great.

I loved the Godwinns when the Attitude stuff was just starting and they turned heel. They dropped the red and yellow t shirts and slop bucket stuff and just wore overalls. They were being pushed as just two huge dirty rednecks that were tough as fuck. I seem to recall them fueding with the Road Warriors and being portrayed as equals. -
And why would The good guys come out to save Shield? Just cause Cena teams with them at house shows doesn't mean he's their pal on the TV shows. And all the other faces have no interest in saving the guys who spent a year beating them up. And more importantly that's just how wrestling works. The announcing stunk like shit, though.

I'm not stunned that people are acting like a bunch of hand wringing washer women who seem to can't wait to be disappointed, while all signs are pointing to a continuation of old vs new where the new are going to win.

Bryan and Kane are great together, have a history, and it's a fine little series to start as it shows that this isn't gonna be some short run for Bryan as in no way is he losing the belt to Kane. Cena's promo was fine and was consistent with his character. He's always been a guy to try and deflect things with jokes, going all the way back to his rapper days. In this instance, he was feeling comfortable after defeating Wyatt at Mania and fell back on his ways. Wyatt called him out on always hiding behind jokes, Cena got serious and made the challenge for Extreme Rules, Wyatt is gleeful to accept and it ends with Cena looking uncomfortable as Wyatt sings and sections of fans behind him are waving along to their leader. Just because the jokes stink, doesn't mean the Wyatt's got "ruined". "Grim again" after ONE RAW, sheesh.

It was supposed to look like an amateur video. That's the point of the contest they're running, "instagram yourself holding up a WWE Doll and you can win a shopping spree." Now, why Sheamus and Big E walk around Toys R Us stores in their gear, that's another story.
