The current classic Observer 3/21/94 is really awesome. Todd Martin not getting it: Yes, Del Rio pretending that his henchman was dumb and ran over Show "accidentally" is the same as Riley getting insulted by Miz one times too many and epically kicking his former boss' ass.

I hated myself for thinking it, but "He combined both classic wrestling deaths, car crash and heart attack" popped into my head. I feel bad for that, as I said...Savage was and always will be my true favorite wrestler ever. And here's what I mean about "crazy bad ass hippie". He was a Deadhead's wrestler.

Man, at work today I get a text from a pal that just said, "Macho Man died". I went to a computer to check and there it was. I didn't have time to think much about it then. Now that I'm home, this really is a kick in the gut. Savage was my favorite wrestler (not named Jimmy Valiant), and this just stinks. I had almost forgotten that until recently when I watched the Memphis set and got his DVD. He truly was the best, in my opinion. I remember that the first time I saw him was in an Apter mag that had an article about him and Lawler doing a loser leaves town match. But the first time he showed up on Saturday Morning TV I was one hooked 14 year old. I didn't cheer many heels at all back then, probably only Muraco, but Savage quickly became my favorite guy to watch. When he beat Tito in Boston for the IC Belt they showed it on tv and even though I was a huge Tito fan, I didn't care that Savage cheated. I was happy that he won the belt. Everything about him, the crazy interviews, the utter CRISPNESS of everything he did, the wild look in his eyes, the cool pink tights, and the awesome robes. He was a crazy bad ass hippie, and he was the best pro wrestler I ever saw.

The best part of that Joe tribute to Hashimoto was Joe saying that Hash said to him, "If you feel that fire on your dick, see a doctor."

If there's no footage of it, why would you say it be "the ladder match"? Were you there? That's like me saying "Tommy Rich/ Buzz Sawyer: Last Battle Of Atlanta" cage match should be on there as best cage match. Except that there are pictures of that match at least and it's considered legendary thanks to the Apter Mags. But since there's no footage, I can't honestly say it was great.

I still love "The Unreal Story Of Professional Wrestling" the best. With all of it's mistakes and myths and bullshit, it's still the most fun wrestling documentary.

That did not happen. They got a ton of offense on DX and got a visual pin on Shawn. That was as close as anyone was getting to beating DX. I thought they had two matches, the one you describe and another one that was a squash of sorts. Am I imagining that?

Like I said, he hasn't spent dollar one yet. He's FULLY aware of what's going on. He's just interested in looking into it so he can "do wrestling" at least once.

What do you mean, gets them on UStream? Is this an online wrestling school? If so, that's the most hilarious thing I've heard in a while. But even beside that, it sounds like a scam. If they're making you transport employees to the show in your own car, you shouldn't be paying them money for that "privilege". My pal does a U Stream show that's sorta popular with a small group of people. Apparently, no one at this promotion knows how to broadcast their taped show on U Stream.. I know, I know..

It varies from place to place. Some barely even halfway train you how to do basic moves right before you "graduate". Others will teach you psychology, give you advice on business practices, help you get your first bookings, etcetera. Depends on the individual trainer. And some will teach you a life lesson about getting ripped off! A buddy of mine who lives in Reno just told me today that a local promotion wants him to be a manager while they train him. He is REALLY tall and not skinny, but he's a little old to start. In return he pays 100 bucks a month, gets them on UStream, and drive a few guys to shows. He's fully aware of what's going on, but he's tempted to check it out anyway.

I don't recall seeing a great deal of American little kids all upset about Micheal Jackson. It seemed more of a "rest of the world" thing to me. And I thought I was a mega Beatles fan, but I never went to a convention. That's cool, jdw.

I read a pretty good case for Evolution also representing the phases in HHHs life as a modern gay man. I'm starting to wonder if it was the same post, and they were his other lovers along the way. Gay read aside, that's not a bad way to set up Miz v Riley. No matter how they do it, I'm pretty sure I'll be viewing it as a gay lover's quarrel now. Honestly, I cannot read the Miz/Riley relationship any other way. Was the Miz/Morrisson tandem any straighter? Two dudes dishing on gossip, one of whom is a cuckold who wears a fur coat and the other who wears capri pants and overcompensates with misogyny? Eh, Miz/ Morrison was more "two smart ass punks making fun of everyone and not showing any respect to anyone except Mr. Fuji." I loved the fact that they were essentially two guys who got thrown together and got over on their own. I hated it when they had them essentially get killed by DX the first time they fought. I normally like it when an older team shows the young punks who's in charge but that time it really came off as that whole "being punished for getting over" deal. I remember they eventually beat DX, I think.

The fact that a throwaway joke I made has generated interesting discussion is a hoot. It's why I dig this place. And the Beatles are timeless. My roommate's 15 year old went through a huge Beatles phase last year, and not from any influence from the adults in the house. That evolved into Led Zeppelin pretty quick, as he's playing guitar. He currently is "digging" Pink and Kanye and Nicki Minaj, because he's 15 and wants to score some pussy. He's actually learned Pink songs on guitar so girls in his class can sing along.
