Pretty sure he left to be a legit reporter, he worked for WWOR in New Jersey for a while and now his Fox Sports gig. It looked like they were grooming him to be the new Mean Gene too. I remember seeing him on WOR. It was right as they became an original UPN station. I couldn't take him seriously at all. Now that I think of it, I remember when people used to say that Mooney was Vince's son. Pettingill was so fucking awful. I had been a Stern fan for years and years and to see that Morning Zoo douche on something I loved, (wrestling), was just so annoying. -

The continuing adventures and travails of these men and women competing in the ring for championships and personal grudges. And like most Soaps, it never ends. What do they call this competition? Oh, wrestling of course. I was never going for the whole "it ain't wrestling" thing. Just that wrestling is very much like soap operas and pretend it isn't is just denial of what the stuff is. And this was written with a grin.

Yeah, there's a Friday the 13th skit where at the end Hogan comes out dressed as Jason. They also spoof the Belzer incident during the monologue. -

Man, I remember having a couple of friends over to watch that SNL and the next day my Mom took us to see Mania on Closed Circuit at the Spectrum. I taped the SNL and must've watched it a thousand times. The musical guest was the Commodores, ( they did Night Shift) and there was a really funny bit with Billy Crystal as a substitute teacher teaching comedy to kids. -

I wrote this over at DVDVR. The soap opera stuff doesn't bother me at all. Shit, when people look at me funny when I mention I like wrestling I always say "it's like a soap opera" and then they kinda get it. Hell, the running joke here in the house with my roomies is that when wrestling is on it's time for me to "watch my stories".

Watch it again. Sin Cara's fall to the outside was his improv call to make it look like Primo fought him off. -

I see the JC Penney's Young Men's department has some nice suits available. (I keed, I keed...Congrats, Rob.) -
Who doesn't love the Marx Brothers?

Tony Atlas as Saba Simba was some goofy stereotypical shit. Tony Atlas just talking the way he talks normally isn't "shameful". That's the way Tony Atlas talks.

I loved HHH/ Taker, and I liked the "Stay Down!" bit. It was HHH not "showing love for Taker", it was him basically telling a foe he respects to stay down, or else I'm gonna have to KILL YOU with more chair shots, a sledgehammer, and devastating moves.

Shit, I was 22 and me and my roomie both were positive it was Kerry Von Erich dressed as Warrior, lol.

Have any of these guys ever had good matches?

We used to joke that The Godfather should have just danced to the ring with the broads, circle the ring and dance back up the ramp at each show. -

It was pretty obviously referring to race, it was subtle, but clearly there. I'm sorry, but I just don't see it. I can see how people could come to that conclusion by interpreting things to make the pieces fit to get to that but I just don't see it. The closest thing to it being there was Rock saying "You aren't from the street" and that doesn't mean "You aren't black". And again, Cena saying "My color" was about T Shirts.
-
I love when they put up a "classic" Observer. They're a lot more fun to read.
-
Rock has made fun of Cena being a rapper. He's also made fun of him for colorful t shirts. That's all there is to this.
-
Holy shit, people love to try and find shit everywhere it ain't. "Color" was referring to Cena's T-Shirts.

Actually, Diamond Doll was the one who had the money and DDP was leeching off her.

That's the worst "Six Degrees Of Kevin Bacon" game ever.

A few years back someone was selling a dvd set of every Clash for a ridiculously low price. I still always turn to it when I can't decide what to watch. I love the one at the Citadel that had Ranger Ross vs. "The Terrorist" in front of an all Army crowd going nuts. I also just re-watched Clash of the Champions 19 with the AWESOME Barry Windham and Dustin Rhodes vs. Arn Anderson and Beautiful Bobby Eaton match. I wrote this about it over at DVDVR. This is one of those matches where every guy involved, including Paul E. on the outside, does all the little things that matter. It's such an awesome match. My favorite part is where Windham and Arn are doing the headlock into a head scissors spot and when Arn kicks out of the scissors and stands up, Barry just punches him in the face and Arn falls on his ass looking totally dazed. And Windham is the FACE with a TAPED FIST, but it's ok cause his fist is only taped because of Anderson and Zybysko having broken it in the car door months earlier. If this had been in ROH or many other promotions now they would have repeated the wrestling part of the spot about 13 times with various "flashy" alterations on the basic spot and it would've ended with some stupid Indy stand there looking at each other "respect" horseshit.

Good Will Wrestling #11/#12

Having Will in my left ear and Phil in my right ear is some Pink Floyd type production values.
