  1. Eh. I enjoyed it but Liger was clearly out of his element and lost at several points in the match. Can you elaborate?
  2. I initially had him in the 30's on my list and fairly quickly realized that is selling him WAY short. Don't have my spreadsheet in front of me but he's top 20 now. His match with Virus a month ago made me think he could easily move to Mexico and work maestro matches with Navarro, Terry, Solar, etc. for another 5 years
  3. 4/11/00 vs Oscar Sevilla (Billy Boy) 4/18/00 vs Oscar Sevilla (Billy Boy) - One of these is in the rain and they do all of their spots despite the ring being a complete mess 7/1/01 w Arai vs Saito/Horiguchi (Toryumon) He's great in the mixed atomicos matches. The Hustle-3 match is a good version of that match. Most of the 2004/2005 AAA version's are clipped. 2006-2007 feud with Billy Boy has a bull rope match and hair match.
  4. 10/24/91 vs Jumbo 10/21/92 vs Misawa 05/21/94 w Taue (and a not very good Taue in this match) vs Misawa/Kobashi 6/3/94 vs Misawa 2/22/04 vs Shinya Hashimoto Like EVERY wrestler, he certainly has off nights and bad performances but that's a blanket style statement that just isn't true

    "Political Hit"

No they aren't dumb, you can't be completely stupid and last this long and make good money. Yet, every company in the world is vulnerable to their own of operations. The WWE has had a long track record on not booking people correctly that it shouldn't be shocking or a conspiracy that "so and so is being held down by a vast conspiracy." Tomk walked through this in pretty detailed form in 2002, 2007 at the old DVDVR boards (2002 being HHH just keeping everyone down and 2008 being main event babyface Cena having to carry Great Khali in regular matches while HHH was using blood, weapons, etc. in his matches). I guess I'm in the camp of thinking that this isn't out of the norm. Much more of a conspiracy as to why Kevin Gausman was shuttled between AAA and the big leagues last year and even there, that conspiracy holds up about as well as 9-11 Truthers.
  6. Gran Apache Only has one review but still think he should be nominated. Lack of people buying AAA in early 2000's and not reviewing shouldn't be held against him. If I have to, I'll write 2 other write up's.
  7. The Tully/Wahoo match is excellent. Could have used maybe 1-2 more minutes but I'll take shorter over prolonged almost any day.
  8. Popped in the Hash/Choshu 1991 G-1 handheld. Such a great match, perfect length, great crowd. ***3/4
  9. The five Choshu/Yatsu vs Jumbo/Tenryu matches wouldn't be as good without Yatsu. All four played key roles in the match and it's not like you could just dump a solid worker like Animal Hamaguchi in there and expect to have the same quality
  10. He's sitting at 17 on my working list but I figured I had him pretty high
  11. Length of matches - Regardless of whether it was looked at as an average, good, great, poor match, during the 2000's indy boom, *most* matches went 5-10 minute too long. The number of matches that fell from good to average or very good to gooo because of five to ten additional minutes is astounding. I think the same can be said for a lot of matches from different promotions and styles from over the years. Maybe this is a Danielson problem (it's a criticism but not sure how valid) but if it is, it becomes an issue with anyone who spent a good portion of the 60's, 70's, and early 80's working hour long draws.

  13. Watched the Bockwinkle vs. Brody match with Paul last night. Brody must have been an absolute nightmare to work with and is really not good here. Best I can say about him is he hit a nice blade job. Bockwinkle was fine but this didn't have anything that Flair couldn't do with Brody. Also Bronco Luvich automatically deducts half a star. He has dragged down almost every match I've seen where he refs.
  14. Daisuke Sekimoto is in the top 10 worst wrestlers who people think is good. He's easily in my top 50 worst wrestlers ever. Evan Karagious, Prince Iakeau, and Al Snow all look down upon him.
  15. Jumbo is not perfect (of course no one is) but even if you disregard his 70's and 80's work (through '88), I'm still not sure how he could be left off a list just for 1989-1992. But maybe that's just me.
  16. Which Japanese wrestler will you rank highest? Misawa Which Japanese wrestlers do you expect to make your list? Misawa, Jumbo, Kawada, Kobashi, Hashimoto, Taue, Choshu, Baba, Tenyru, Kikuchi, Fuchi, Tamura, Kohsaka, Maeda, Fujiwara, Liger, Otani, Ishikawa, Ikeda, Otsuka, Yatsu and a few more TBD Who was the best of the 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s, 2010s to come out of Japan? Baba 70's, Choshu 80's, multiple 90's Who was your favorite Ace? Misawa Who was your favorite top challenger? Kawada Who was your favorite under the radar guy? Not sure I have anyone truly under the radar Who was the best at their peak? Jumbo or Kawada Who has disappointed you the most? No one stood out as disappointing from the Japanese side
  17. That Koko Ware squash is brutal. Hadn't seen it before but that lariat he gives is All Japan mid-90's stiff. Had to be leading to a heel turn or else the "Masked Patriot" was not a friend to Ware.
  18. I haven't seen anyone call the Starrcade match ****+ Until Will started getting all of this footage collected and into the public's hands in 2005, I imagine almost no one on this board (nonetheless elsewhere) had seen the full September title switch. That match is one that I know Ohtani's Jacket doesn't like but I found it to be excellent. Meltzer wasn't a Ron Garvin fan and you may as well listen to a 14 month old than listen to Scott Keith. And Scott Keith's influence is still very strong, maybe stronger in some ways than 15 years ago. But that's why wrestlers constantly being reevaluated is a good thing. In 2001, was there anyone online talking up the positives of El Dandy? Maybe Rob Bihari but in 2016 that seems comical as Dandy has been revisited via new footage, more wide spread matches, and a bigger sample size.

    Steve Grey

Breaks and Grey are in my top 30. Funny thing is I'm still nitpicking exactly where they fit and who will be higher Cortez will be in the 70's or 80's
  20. http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/30500-rock-n-roll-express-vs-dirty-white-boys-mid-south-051185/ This is Paul's review that I completely agree with. The difference between this and the 3/27/88 MX vs. Fantastics is so close (heat, moves, selling) that I would say it's a 50/50 coin toss between which one I like more. Basically everything I want in a southern tag. Heat was Korakuen Hall 80's All Japan Women level, super solid work (Morton working on the rana and arm drag in one sequence is state of the art in 1985), and there is a satisfying finish.
  21. Wait for the RnR vs. DWB from 5/11/85. Most under talked about match ever.
  22. Don't have much to add to what shoe said above. Really liked this as the first match in the feud. Lots of heat, great finish. We already have the 4/6 match and know how good that is so this made perfect sense within the context of the promotion and feud.
  23. I have the 5/96 Dantes/Jalisco, 10/90 Takada/Fujiwara, and some others on this list that I will put up privately on YouTube. DM me your email address if you want them.
