  1. Thanks, I really need to listen to this. I really want to hear about this Quebec and New Zeland days.
  2. I tried to find that, but had trouble on youtube. Yes, everybody should watch it for sure. I'm going through a more detailed watch for myself and I am very high on the stuff. That Galactica-Jaguar match is so great. I have never seen a small cut on the leg being worked like that before. The point where Galactica enters the ring covered and blood and both are having trouble standing due to exhaustion is pro-wrestling!
  3. Finally got to Ibushi-Shibayata and for two guys I generally really enjoy, this did nothing for me. The section people talk about was awful, but up to and after that point I wasn't too into this either. This was your fighting spirit special contest and I am sick of those. I hit you, you hit me back and so on and so forth. Look at how tough I am. There was things I enjoyed, maybe 3 3/4 or something.

    WWE TV 7/27 - 8/2

Where will Cesaro be at Mania nect year? If it's not a top match, like I suspect, then this isn't the coming out party we hoped.
  5. I am going through joshi just like I am for the men's All Japan for the Excite Series and just watched this match. Holy shit did I love this. Most of the Toyota I have seen was a Japanese women version of Kurt Angle, all awesome spots and athletics and not much substance (at least that is what I remembered) and damn this match an the other 1990 mach I watched tells me otherwise. She works the arm like a beast. The ripping of the cast, the tenacity was so great. The few dives and moonsault she did completely worked with trying to finish Hokuto off. Then after Hokuto's dive (who did a great job selling the arm all match) Toyota's leg injury got re-activated and she had to sell the leg great as well. I was so into this match and it is something you can show to anyone who is on the fence about joshi. 4 1/2 stars, just killer stuff!
  6. Cena talks directly into the camera during ever entrance. It just seems fresh, because nobody else does.
  7. Cameras catching moments backstage and the wrestlers not realizing it. Running matches on TV over and over again and then trying to put them on ppv. No consequences to winning or losing. No opponents for El Torito to face. Mentioned above, but it really bugs me that there is no true hierarchy in place, besides Cena above everyone else. TV needs more jobber matches, more six mans, more music videos, more event centers, more 24/7 type hype stuff for big shows. I really hate having matches announced during the show. By the time Raw ends I should know the main event and who will be wrestling next week. Almost no match is a big deal, because they all have been done before. If they are new, they just throw it on television with no anticipation. Smackdown. What is it supposed to be? It's like a continuation of Raw, but with no consequences. They can have the World Champ face the number one contender and nobody will even notice, because it's on Smackdown. Pasts being erased. It's very rare that something that happened before this current month is brought up again. The term divas and it being different than what the male wrestlers are called. The term superstars, nobody calls them that. Let's move on. A heel authority. It just doens't make any sense that the people in charge would be doing things to piss of their top talent like that. They need to slow down on finisher kick outs, because it's getting out of hand and making finishers mean nothing.
  8. It's amazing how long we had separate things up here. You had that Maple Leaf Wrestling, but then you had Canadian Superstars is what I grew up on. Not sure how it differed outside of the name.
  9. I will want my rematch soon.
  10. Top 3 picks were all Canadian promotions, so yeah Dewey and Wells makes sense.
  11. Wells was in my top 3. This was a weird draft to call.
  12. I think it would be insanely cool if someone was posting EMLL, UWA and AJW results from TRW on the days they happened, so we have everything covered. Are those places still open to the public?
  13. G1 seems to do well for NJPW. BOLA, King of Trios and Ted Petty Invitational do/did well on the indies. I wouldn't discount tournaments.
  14. You should add the joint show in there.
  15. What the heck was the context for this? I can't imagine someone going out and saying this action movie star is fake. Of course they are, but what would be the point? Seems like a silly douchy thing to say. Unless there is good context for it, which there very well could be.
  16. Good point, it is getting close. I was thinking about something with WWWF name to WWF to WWE name and I screwed up my facts. Good call.
  17. Really wanted Dewey, since he was a BIG TIME start in Toronto, but alas we don't always get what we want. However, I think "Avalanche" Buzz Tyler will be a welcome member of the Maple Leaf roster.
  18. Carson with The Super Russian, Ivan Koloff and Greg Valentine is a super dominant stable right now. I feel like the heel unit always needs to build up heat in the beginning so beating them means something. Two questions, what happens when Smirnoff returns on TV this week? Also, who is the Super Russian? The Super Russian mystery will be revealed within the next two months!
  19. I forgot how awesome your roster is. I'm really digging these. Mantel vs Armstrong feud is money!
  20. Maple Leaf Wrestling August 2, 1983 at Memorial Arena in Kingston, Ontario 1. Ben Bassarab made Paul Christy submit to a leglock in 9:26. 2. Cuban Assassin & Chicky Starr def. Al Tomko & Nick DeCarlo when Starr pinned DeCarlo @ 5:51. 3. Greg "The Hammer" Valentine w/ Don Carson made Tony Garea submit to the figure-four leglock @ 12:06. 4. NWA Canadian Champion Rick Martel made Ron Starr submit to the Boston Crab @ 17:00 to retain the title. Intermission: Maple Leaf Wrestling will return to Kingston, Ontario on September 3rd for a TV taping. 5. Rocky Johnson pinned Bobby Bass @ 8:51. 6. "Outlaw" Joel Deaton pinned Joe Marcus @ 4:41. 7. Mr. Saito & Masked Samurai def. Wahoo McDaniel & Tiger Conway Jr. when Saito pinned Conway after Conway was left alone when Valentine took Wahoo out of the match @ 15:45. 8. NWA Canadian Tag Team Champions Ivan Koloff & Super Russian w/ Don Carson def. Stephen Petipas & Leo Burke when Koloff pinned Petipas with the flying knee to retain the belts @ 22:51
  21. I will figure it out and next week will have time stamps.
  22. Has anybody contacted him? 24 hours should be some kind of max on waiting.
  23. I am looking for some teams to help fill out this round robin tournament. Outside of Maple Leaf Wrestling teams, we do have a team from NJPW, but the more the merrier. The tournament will go from November 4th to 22nd with Wed/Thu off. Finals will be 26th. Of course, we can work something out, because each team doesn't have to compete on each day, just maybe 3 days a week during that span. PM me if you want your team showcased in this prestigious tournament.
  24. Add him too... didn't see any results for him during this time in Wrestlingdata, but he wrestled before and after, so available. According to wikipedia he trained Col. DeBeers and Butch Reed. Is that true???
