  1. Yeah, the gauntlet match was fantastic. Total main event star performance from Rich Swann, and I actually look forward to the incoming program with Elgin, as this segment was pretty awesome and probably the best I've seen Elgin, as he was downright vicious. The final segment was very good too, and it's cool as hell to see a guy like Brian Cage give Tessa the nod, especially since she has referred to him as his big brother inside the ring, so it had to be special for the two of them. And of course, it leads to Sami putting her over. Loving what this company has been doing lately. I can't wait to next week's show, from the teaser it looks like so much fun. The fact they are running an actual MILF angle with Trey's "mom" cracks me up. Glad IMPACT is keeping the sleaze aspect of pro-wrestling intact.
  2. Well, Corny's making much more sense than I thought he would, even offering some reasonable kind of apology. And he's not wrong piling on NWA's management either on this case, as they should have edited the stuff before airing it. Now let's wait until next week when someone tags him with the IMPACT cosplay (I can say it because it's a legit one) show including Sami Callihan dressed as James E. Cornette so he can lose his mind again. Or maybe understand that he should not take things so seriously after all. Dunno...
  3. Thanks. Legendary indeed !
  4. Well, the whole "Uncle Tom" was neither here nor there. Maybe if he had called Lethal a sexual harasser it would have gotten more traction or sympathy, but it had nothing to do with the issue at hand. But yeah, anyway, I wish there would be a genuine MeToo moment in pro-wrestling where a bunch of women would collectively speak up against whoever, no matter how powerful they are, so things can get shaken up a bit. Probably won't happen. When a former Diva who had talked about being raped commits suicide and the collective reaction is apathy, it doesn't look too good.
  5. Ooookay. That's pretty funny. Is that a young Kevin Nealon next to Sanders ? Nealon is legendary to me as a Weeds fan.
  6. Between this and the Cornette case (about which he did a tremendous job explaining the whole thing, including how the MX were basically the Young Bucks to the older generation back then, how what Corny said is not defendable and was not either in other eras despite people not batting an eye then but also how something like Randy Orton using racial slur on Twitch totally got a pass for some reason), poor Meltz, having to deal with a sea of idiots.
  7. The Johnny Candido episode was interesting. Tammy comes off like a horrible person though. I did enjoy the Raven one too since I'm a Raven fan. I wish the guy would make some cameos in IMPACT or AEW again. Gonna listen to the Terri Runnels one too, she's someone you don't hear that much abou (the shoot interview she did years ago was excellent). Sean really is still clearly not sure what he wants to do I think, but at least he seems to have some different guests at times.
  8. Not really. Well, I'm a French teacher, so I'm used to it. [ø] is not an easy sound to pronounce for English speaking people. I kinda get a kick out of JR trying to say it and failing badly everytime. The way Jericho pronounced "celebration", with only the last part of the word sounding French, was quite funny. No idea where that idea comes from. I guess it makes him obnoxious.
  9. Count me in for not giving a fuck what Corny is gonna say in his podcast. Who cares ? He has worked himself into a corner. Tough shit.
  10. There really hasn't been a major MeToo moment in pro-wrestling. Still waiting for it to happen and feel the cracks all over. Thus far, it seems every occurence is kinda smothered or not cleared up at all.
  11. Honestly, lights going off at the end of a Joey Janela match on Dynamite, lights go on and you have Jim Cornette in the ring bashing Janela in the head with his racket like it's ECW 97 would be such an awesome angle. Such a waste...
  12. Grammatically absolutely correct. Doesn't mean shit but quite funny. I want Shanna back on TV and have her cut promos in French.
  13. Ah ah ! Ouais, certe. On verra. (people are gonna get so confused...) Sear Center is their home base, so I can't wait. Should be the best episode yet if they play their cards right. I'm almost where I could believe Scorpio winning the title in a Lex Luger moment (although it should probably not happen, because short titles wins rarely help a young guy, while Luger was already bulletproof and over as fuck in 97).
  14. I wonder if MLW can grab him. Myron Reed mentioned "Free ACH" last week during his promo. He would certainly fit over there. Now, does any promotion want to take the risk of another meltdown, that's another matter.
  15. Non. Yeah, sorry, guys. Just saying I liked the vignette, it was kinda neat and finally trying to make something topical with the gimmick. Nick Jackson vs Fenix and Darby Allin vs Mox were two terrific TV matches in two totally different ways. Darby does look like a must-see guys, like Cactus in his days. I wonder how many people know who GG Allin was though, much less I've actually seen footage of him... I guess most would be horrified ! Jericho killed it again. Jake Hager was visibly trying not to laugh. The Battle Royal was fine, with the nostalgia pop for Billy Gunn and a good use of him, really. MJF vs Hangman makes all the sens in the world, as Page will be able to present MJF in a very solid way (MJF is good, but Page is much better in-ring). Shida is awesome, I'm glad she won so we can get Riho vs Shida in a near future which will probably be terrific. Dr. Baker should kinda turn heel, I feel it would fit her better than fiery babyface, and she would probably learn better than way. "She's a dentist" chant was pretty funny. JR talks too much over the other two. Also, him calling Sonny Kiss an "enigma" was embarrassing, I guess he thinks he's some Goldust character... Tony still has all the best lines of the night ("He came with the bag, he's gonna leave in it.") and Excalibur is simply a great play by play guy. Dustin on fire. Luchasaurus really IS over. For a character who got actually murdered twice in two promotions, very impressive. Liked Santana & Ortiz vs Private Party, although you can see how green PP really are at times. But it's ok, they are learning on the job and are over and spectacular. I like how the show feels different every week, not worked at the same pace, with the same structure. PAC vs Omega next week should be a killer match. Potential best TV match thus far.
  16. No. Unless you have main roster guys running rampage every week on NXT. While being paid like main roster guys, working with guys with NXT contracts. Can't wait for the WWE fanboys to act like their corporate darling finally trumped (see what I did there) the godforsaken pissant company and it means AEW is gonna be dead in a few weeks/months.

    NWA Powerrr

You know what, I did ask myself if that parody add was actually referencing date rape… But I did not pay that much attention to it, as I was doing something else while watching Powerr (as I usually do these last few weeks). And yeah, there sure is some creepiness to the whole thing, especially considering the way some old-school wrestlers acted back then. I still remember Marty Jannetty in shoot interviews laughing while talking about how they would use drugs in girl's drinks and shit… Those were the days… (which is one reason I'm way more comfortable watching current pro-wrestling, honestly, I think we've come a long way).

    NWA Powerrr

In other news, this week's episode of Powerr has about half the number of views it usually is getting after the first day or two. Ouch… It can't be emphasized enough how whoever is responsible for the editing screwed up pretty badly with this one too. Of course, you don't look out for this kind of stuff and I understand you might not even really listen to what's being said during a match when you are doing editing work. Still, the negative effects are felt already. And in the end, it is Corny's fault. (I love the argument that "But no one said anything until some fans pointed it out. Thanks Captain Obvious. Yeah, you kinda have to have someone, anyone, point it out to begin with.)

    NWA Powerrr

I honestly wasn't infering anything serious with my remark, although it did struck me. They do have latino talents. As far as Mack in NWA, wow, I'm so glad IMPACT grabbed him, it would be such a waste to have him have three minutes matches against Aron Stevens or something instead of killing it teaming with Rich Swann against the North and have actual excellent good, competitive stuff every week. This is what is amazing about Corny not even apologizing one bit. He only thinks about himself. If by his lack of sense the NWA talent end up being punished, if so unfair to them. I mean, I known I'd be pissed if I was a guy like Aldis, who has invested a bunch in this stuff, that Corny can't do better than a 35 years old joke (I mean, even without the racist tone, it kinda exposes Cornette as someone who recycles stuff that has been irrelevant since the mid 80's… wait… Oh, nevermind….) with racists overtones and then can't even properly say "Well, sorry, I kinda fucked up with this one.".

    AEW Dark Megathread

That's one thing I love about Dark, inviting random guys to do color. Everything sounds so spontaneous and fun that way. And really, I want Dustin back as often as he can, he was so much fun.
  21. The Dynamite Dozen Battle Royal to win a ring sounds like DDP dropped some knowledge on someone. This and the whole "Undesirable to undeniable" reeks of DDP.
  22. And I don't want to give the impression I take any pleasure in piling on Cornette. Like I said, he's been a favourite of mine forever. What is happening is sad and disheartening, and I don't say that often about people in pro-wrestling. But I know where this is going, and it's nowhere good. A few years ago Corny looked saner and healthier than he'd been in years, as he was saying he should stay away from pro-wrestling. He living happily, doing his podcast taking about old stories. Well, there was the instance of his co-host leaving because she was offended by comments she thought was anti-muslim. But mostly, Corny was shitting on Republicans and doing interviews of old wrestlers, working with KC doing the Back to the Territories and seemingly having fun with life. But he could not stay away nor try to understand pro-wrestling had evolved... As much as the comeback of Tony Schiavone is the coolest thing that happened in 2019 as far as old-school guys goes, Corny becoming what is seemingly is now may be the saddest thing. I guess a lot of people had seen the writing on the wall way sooner. I just did not, or did not want to see what was there.
  23. Yet he did the WWE HoF. And he did the first NWA PPV. And he did MLW. And he did NWA Powerr. For a guy who doesn't care about getting bookings anywhere and had stopped working for any company in any capacity years ago when he was doing all those (great) shoot interviews, he sure took a whole lot of bookings in the last two years. He has been more visible in the last couple of years than he's been in a decade as far as appearing on actual pro-wrestling shows.
  24. How stupid is that ? I mean, really, you're gonna talk about a friend like that because you don't agree with his opinion about a pro-wrestler's qualities ? How immature is Cornette, really ?

    NWA Powerrr

That's the saddest part to me. Corny would be revered and loved by a crowd a pro-wrestling fans at legends gathering like Starrcast, where the old and the new generation get together. Instead, Corny is isolating himself, only speaking to a cult of sycophants and will now play victim of "political correctness" to boot...
