    It can't be overstated how great Jumbo's ring jacket is but I have to agree that this isn't great. It sucks because it has the structure of a great tag match, it's just 3/4 of the recipe is wrong.

    A pretty dry match (well, what we see), all in all. My boy Tenryu is rocking great purple trunks but you don't really see what will make him great later in the decade as the smoother sequences are with Rocky. Though, having called it dry, the action does pick up when Tenryu interrupts a Robinson submission and we see some decent suplexes before a fall. It would be cool to see the earlier portions of the match but it was a fun enough piece of wrestling.

    A pretty weak card all around but I expect the tag and Cena/Rusev to be worth watching. I'm also going for Orton winning tonight with Mahal winning the title IN India with the idea that they're going to have a huge crowd pop that they can show in the future.

    A decent enough TV match but throughout it all, you're only left wishing for another long Midnights/RnR match

    I mean, the turn is telegraphed with Flair throwing ladies at Sting to stop him from thinking about the title match but it doesn't make it any more disappointing. More great orating from Arn, as expected and Woman turns up to sow some further seeds. WCW is really killing it in January.

    Seriously, Lawler and Brown are a fantastic pair. I could watch them squabble all day. "Has Rodney Dangerfield called yet?" is yet another fantastic one-liner in the rolling sitcom that is USWA

    Hilarious segment where Robert Fuller actually cuts a decent, buskers night sing-a-long sessions. "In the tradition of Elvis, Billy Joe Travis and some of the better singers" got a pop out of me. Heels looking out for heels! Lawler and Brian Lee consoling him as he's singing is another great touch. At times, these Memphis shows have the feel of loose, comedy theatre and I can only imagine how fun it must have been to be a crowd member

    Billy Joe Travis warms my heart by arguing with an old lady in the first 10 seconds of this, just about everything he does is perfect to me. Speaking of which, Jarrett is great in this; just a fantastic fired-up babyface performance that he really was fantastic at. It makes you wish he didn't morph into the unconvincing badass of his later years, even if he did always remain a good worker. Travis bumps huge for everything and probably does take a bit too much punishment but the crowd is with them and it all blends nicely into the kind of chaotic brawling that Memphis always did better than anyone. Another great segment in a month filled with them.

    Good lord did Ric Flair, the booker, know how to put on some fantastic TV main events and we have more Cornette and Ross on commentary! More praise for Sawyer who cuts a pretty incredible pace throughout all of this, not to mention his great reactions to the (incredibly hot) crowd which just stokes them up even further. I LOVE Arn pulling Sting over the ropes for the flying clothesline since Stinger gets some awesome height on it. I agree that babyface Arn is fantastic; able to balance being the Enforcer with showing enough babyface vulnerability and selling to make the crowd fear he might lose. Flair as FIP works really well but the best moments are between him and Sawyer, making you realise how good, not even a Clash main, but just an Eaton style TV main would be with those two. Great TV match but when the crowd is this hot, everyone involved starts firing on all cylinders through osmosis.

    Hot finish in which Tenryu continues to inflict otherworldly punishment on whoever appears to have wronged him but this time, he gets a taste of his own medicine from Inoue. Right before getting those goddamn ring boys back for their indiscretions last time around.

    Despite being stuck down the card, Savage and Sherri continue to kill it with this act; they really were perfect for the King and Queen act. In fact, Sherri in general is great with everyone she seems to interact with. As for this, it was fun enough but Savage is the one making it so. Someone looking to do some comedy in current WWE should totally seal the airplane spin - > fall off the top spot.

    Fun final moments of this Rumble as Hogan comes in and eliminates Haku with the daintiest big boot you ever will see. For all I despise Warrior and Hogan as characters/promos, you look at the reaction for the staredown and it's so clear that they had to run with them at Mania. It's funny seeing Michaels getting dumped like he's Paul London or some shit, though in modern day Rumbles, he'd at least get a chance to hit a decent spot before getting dumped. I agree that it's hilarious how Warrior acts after getting eliminated, even more so that in about 2 seconds, Barbarian and Rude are back working on Hogan.

    Another quick, effective WWF segment. Seems like a far cry from our current day WWE. It's a damned disgrace that the likes of Mean Gene and Mooney can go around, stirring the shit and getting away with it!

    Great match. I love the start with both guys chucking hard rights and laying bombs to try and knock each other senseless and as far as the pin falls go, I see two explanations at different times. Early on, it's the WWF doing what they always do and hammer a point home to over-explain things and later in the match, the pinfalls are, as Tony says, a way of using their wrestling knowledge to get out of holds and give themselves some space. The later portions revolving around removing the braces have a nice escalation and, in the end, the heel's hubris comes back to haunt him as he eats the brace and submits.

    This pretty much says everything I would. WWF style always asks you to ignore a lot of your niggles for the sake of the finish. I always dug Tony and Jesse though.

    Once more, I haven't got a clue what on Earth he's talking about. It's fun as a novelty but it really grates over time.

    Worst match so far but Lawler works around JYD really well and uses every trick in the book to keep the crowd engaged in it. Garvin as heel commentator is a bit too blatant and grating but Marc Lawrence sounding, for all the world, like Mr. Mackey from South Park almost makes up for it.

    Solid promo from JYD that sets him up nicely for the program with Lawler. I like Lawler's promo but agree that it goes a bit long and the casual racism comes off as a bit more desperate when faced with JYD. People are going to cheer the Dog in this program, maybe he didn't need to tread that line. But still, the joke with the phone continues to make me laugh.
