The Chief
Kane busted out an AWESOME chair-assisted guard-barrier powerslam on Bryan that nobody acknowledged.
WingedEagle
That Conor video was ridiculous. Don't know how you don't tear up at that. I can't wait to hear the debbie downers say how they're putting it out there for PR. They likely gave that kid the highlight of his life and his parents something great to look back on. Makes me proud to be a customer.
dexstar
Even if it's out there for PR, which in a sense it is, it was still a good deed by all involved. There's always ulterior reasons for big companies like WWE to do nice things, but the sheer volume of Make-a-Wish stuff they do is pretty cool, no matter what the underlying reasoning is for them. I can't imagine how simultaneously inspiring and heartbreaking that work has to be at times.

The corporate reasons are one thing but I like to think that the wrestlers themselves do it because they really care.

(BP)
The Observer reported that Hunico and Sheamus got into a scrap backstagw at the Smackdown taping, which Hunico got the better of. I guess time will tell if this leads to Sin Cara III.

SomethingSavage
Ehh. Wouldn't be so sure. Didn't stop him after Booker publicly pummeled Bro-tista in front of the boys.

sek69
Considering Sheamus's gimmick is Mr. AHH LOVES TA FAIGHT~! I could see Vince souring on him as a top level guy after getting beat up by a jobber level guy.

JaymeFuture
The same applied to the Undertaker in the early 90s, only Undertaker doesn't get nearly the same amount of criticism. And I would argue that Kane now is way better than Undertaker was then -- or at least better than Undertaker showed himself to be then. Â Â Taker in the early 90s had, for the most part, dreadful opponents. Kane did nothing for Bray Wyatt or Dean Ambrose at all in their PPV matches last year and was far more of a negative in terms of elevating them than a positive. He works hard, is in great shape, and can certainly exist in the current environment, I won't deny that at all, but I think stretching that to "great worker" is a push (not to put words in your mouth, just my general opinion), when you look at his body of work especially. Â DIdn't Sheamus get his ass kicked by Yoshi Tatsu a few years ago as well? That said I didn't see this story about him and Hunico in the new Observer? sek69
Which reminds me, whatever was the truth behind Alberto del Rio's black eye earlier this year? Â If I recall correctly, he was with another wrestler who got involved in a bar fight and got the black eye in the process of trying to break up the fracas. Â Â Â Â Since it's probably about 10 percent of the audience who are aware of the story, I'd imagine the outcome will be nothing. Â It's not the audience that matters, if Vince knows someone got their ass kicked it has a chance to change his mind on someone. Sheamus is probably safe since he's a Friend of Hunter, but plans change by the minute it seems.
rovert
DIdn't Sheamus get his ass kicked by Yoshi Tatsu a few years ago as well? That said I didn't see this story about him and Hunico in the new Observer? Â Randy Orton told that story on a radio interview. It was over a protein shaker, Tatsu kicked his butt and locked him out of the house they shared with others. Â I know two other fights Sheamus was involved in in Ireland were he was bested. One result in a kitchenette being destroyed at a training school. Major scandal in Irish Wrestling at the time.
Yo-Yo's Roomie
Drew McIntyre was the other wrestler involved in the Del Rio bar fight, leading to me really wanting to see a Del Rio/Drew Mac tag team.

Fantastic
In Sheamus' defence, both Cara/Hunico and Yoshi Tatsu come from pretty tough backgrounds. Tatsu was a competitive martial artist in his youth and then went through the NJPW dojo, where learning to kick somebody's ass for real is pretty much a prerequisite for graduating. Hunico was a state champion in amateur wrestling and spent a considerable amount of time wrestling the Mexican indie circuit, where some real horror stories have emerged over the years in terms of working rough. Â What's Sheamus exactly? A bodybuilder turned professional wrestler with no competitive martial arts or fighting background (unlike what his gimmick suggests). Â It's exactly the same thing with Batista getting his ass kicked by Booker T. Does anybody really think that a jacked up bodybuilder with negligible real fighting experience (at least not at that point) is going to stand a chance against a guy who was raised in a ghetto, and who would have had to have learned to defend himself from an early age just to survive? rovert
Sheamus opened some Shaywisers on Twitter: Â Â What's Sheamus exactly? A bodybuilder turned professional wrestler with no competitive martial arts or fighting background (unlike what his gimmick suggests). Â Yeah Sheamus has no background at all. When was in Ireland there two Wrestling schools one that was formed by a bunch of guys who went over to UK Hammerlock for Summer who brought back that curriculum of British shoot with small S Wrestling and other School was essentially self thought guys. Sheamus was part of the latter. Never fanced himself as a hard man just some who wanted to go WWE as an entertainer with no pretences.
dexstar
I know wrestling is a weird business, and your standard rules of conduct don't always apply, but even if Sheamus could destroy Tatsu or Hunico, what's his motivation? Compared to those two he's at a much higher place in the company. It would seem like if someone got a burr under the saddle and decided the participants would be punished for the fight, he's the one with everything to lose and literally nothing to gain. Matt D
One good thing about Meltzer in 2014 as opposed to similar people in other such walks is that there's almost never a sense from Dave that he GOT someone. Sometimes he gets frustrated, but you get the sense he's doing what he perceives to be his job and it's rarely, if ever, personal anymore. Â Unless he's saying that it was Hunico who was the dirt sheet hero? He's kind of all over the place there, especially after tweeting earlier that nothing happened. Â Matt D in 2014 to the new/current generation of fans EVERYTHING is a dirtsheet not just the Observer and Torch - newzsites, Bleacher Report or similar, blogs etc. Kids most likely were tweeting Sheamus endlessly about it after reading it on Wrestlezone of whatever. Â Sheamus likely didn't see the original report or reads the Observer. For whatever it is worth Sheamus when he was in Ireland at least wasn't the type that was reading Newsletters or watching ROH DVDs. I don't think he is that sophisticated himself in regards to Wrestling journalism.
KrisZ
Rovert is right........WrestleZone is probably the most popular NEWZ site out there right now. Every one of my non-internet wrestling fans ask me about stuff they saw on WrestleZone not from Meltz or MKJ directly.
dexstar
Yeah, I'm friends with a decent number of dudes who follow wrestling but not hardcore, and they'll text me stuff from WrestleZone that I read in that weeks Observer. I always try to explain to them how Meltzer's breaking news and rumors and shit get distorted via the telephone effect when they go to that site, and that the Observer business analysis is what makes it worth reading, but it doesn't really change their perceptions. Plus, while being a wrestling nerd in real life is ok, I'll only reveal so much of that to others.
