GSR
I'll calm down in a minute but Becky Lynch made her debut at the NXT tapings tonight. Sasha and Summer Rae both broke character and visually marked out when Becky's music hit - Sasha is famed for never breaking character. Becky beat Summer Rae with an Exploder suplex - her signature move on the indies. So crazy about two years ago I thought Rebecca was utterly completely done with Wrestling leaving this legacy of this incredible young Wrestler who sadly retired. That's fantastic for her. I don't keep up with wrestling anywhere near as much as I once did but remember hearing that she'd signed with WWE and was wondering whether this was correct as I thought she had a severe neck injury that had forced her to retire. I first saw her on some ECCW DVDs and was completely blown away with her. Charisma in spades, a tremendous crowd baiting heel, a really good worker and thought the sky was the limit for her. Great to see that she has made a recovery and hope she eventually makes the main roster.
rovert
Saw her, Sheamus and Devitt early on. Sheamus was horrendously boring and poor before he hit WWE. Thought Devitt was a really good but I thought he would just another talented guy in the NWA Ireland crew. But with Becky I thought WWE immediately. It was just as obvious as nose on your face. Yeah it has been a long road for her. After she got hurt with her head injury (that was less severe long term than what the internet though) she was super conflicted about Wrestling again for a host of reasons. At a time where sightings of her were like Elvis I twisted her arm to go to a show back in October 2008. She left with 3 matches left after not really enjoying herself. Had the impression that it was worse for her than a lot of other Wrestlers when they leave Wrestling as she had like this weight of her talent on her shoulders and an obligation to serve them. Rather than it just being a Wrestler that missed the adrenaline rush of being in the ring or playing Pro Wrestler.

Strummer
I think it's becoming apparent that the company thinks the only way to draw heat anymore is to troll the crowd. There may be truth to that but I think it's making it tougher for the undercard characters and gimmicks to get over. The heat is still on the company instead of the wrestlers. It's certainly been effective but to be honest it's becoming tiresome as a viewer (for me at least). There are some obvious exceptions to this (Wyatts, Shield) but I'm honestly not digging the philosophy that much anymore. I guess this relates to the Bryan segment tonight. I just have this feeling it's going to be used to put more heat on Stephanie or to try and gain sympathy for Brie. More trolling I presume. Again I want something big going down with a surprise authority figure
Russellmania
I thought Takeover was a much better show top-to-bottom than Arrival, despite Arrival having the best match of the bunch in Zayn/Cesaro. The rest of Arrival felt like mostly filler and the ladder match was kind of meh, but this show was pretty strong all the way through. Zayn/Breeze was really good and totally made Breeze in my eyes. I wish he could just use the superkick as his finish, though. His spinning heel kick is not bad, but I've been so conditioned over the years to see that as a nothing move that I have a hard time buying it as a finish. Nattie/Charlotte was a real good match with a lot of really snug mat-work. These diva matches, even the really good ones, always seem to suffer from one or two really sloppy looking spots though. Kidd/Neville was tremendous and did a lot more to make Neville look good than the ladder match with Bo. Something kind of cool about this match is that while a lot of big NXT matches feel like pretty modern indy matches, this match felt more like an old ECW or WCW technical match (think like an Eddie/Dean match or something) where it was paced a little slower and really built to the bigger spots. I'm so glad to see Tyson Kidd healthy and getting a push. This time in NXT was a really good idea since he was never going to get real WWE TV time after his long injury recovery. Hopefully they can figure out a way to transfer his momentum to an eventual return to the main roster.
Coffey
I have high expectations tonight for Sheamus Vs. Cesaro on the Payback PPV. Here's the entire card, by the way: The Shield Vs. Evolution - No holds barred Elimination Match John Cena Vs. Bray Wyatt - Last Man Standing Match Bad News Barrett Vs. Rob Van Dam - Intercontinental Title Match Sheamus Vs. Cesaro - U.S. Title Match Paige Vs. Alicia Fox - Divas Championship Hornswoggle Vs. El Torito - Hair Vs. Mask Rusev Vs. Big E
goc
I was way behind on NXT and have been catching up this weekend. I just finished watching the Adrian Neville vs. Brodus Clay No DQ title match. So Brodus Clay is pretty...not good. I think now that the Funkasaurus character was actually the best thing they could have possibly done with him because he doesn't make a very good monster heel. Superstar Sleeze
Alicia Fox's big boot is my favorite move in wrestling right now. She is my favorite character on the roster and hell may even be my favorite wrestler soon enough. I have not watched Paige in NXT, but she has not done anything for me at all. Get the title on Alicia and feud her with Emma. It is just going to be gold. I really think an Alicia/Emma match with a good build and 20 minutes could contend for MOTY. BillThompson
Did you watch Emma in NXT then, because based on the WWE Emma there's no way anyone should want her feuding with anyone at this point.
The Chief
Why? I would want Emma to fued with someone to give her something to do.
BillThompson
All I'm saying is that based on his Paige comment, that if WWE is your only exposure to Emma there's no reason to want to see her feud with anyone because she's been terrible in just about every regard in the WWE.
The Chief
She's doing the exact same shtick, it just needs to be tweaked for a large crowd instead of the same fans at Full Sail. She hasn't been "terrible,"she hasn't really been anything. Giving her a fued would be a good start.
Superstar Sleeze
Paige screams a lot and her spots are overwrought (submission is lame and her spinny single leg takedown sucks). Emma is fun and has an arsenal of good spots. There has not been anytime for her to try to attempt to have a real match, but in terms of showcase Emma clearly has the more sympathetic, interesting character with the better spots. Paige is just annoying.
Matt D
The big problem with Paige lately is that she rocks back and forth between surly and screaming and happy-go "in on the joke, isn't this great?" smiling. That wasn't the case at all for most of her NXT run.

Paige is just annoying. None of what you're saying for Emma has been in the WWE. I think she's had a grand total of maybe thirty minutes in the ring her entire time in the WWE, and she's done nothing but comedy spots with the occasional Muta Lock and Tarantula mixed in. Emma in NXT was interesting, as a character and a worker, but in WWE she's been a nothing entity that is only around for comedy bits.
BillThompson
Having just finished Takeover, a few thoughts, --There really is something to the fresh and new idea that I've seen Dylan floating around. NXT is far from perfect, but it's so opposite what WWE is putting out at this point that I feel I, and many others, are willing to overlook its flaws. --I still don't like the Ascension. I'm sorry, but nothing they did in that match impressed me, and their gimmick still does nothing for me. --Breeze/Zayn is a great match, but I feel as if people are shortchanging how much Breeze contributed to the match. His selling and facial expressions told a great story, and while I wouldn't say he was better than Zayn I felt he more than held his own. --Remove the Figure-Four craziness and Charlotte/Natalya could maybe have been great, but it's still a really good match. I firmly believe that the WWE women's division will be in the best shape it's ever been moving forward. Of course a lot of that has to do with removing things like the stupid diva tag, but the talent is there. Paige, Emma, AJ, and Alicia Fox are all really good workers, and when all is said and done Charlotte may end up being the best woman in the WWE. Still, the takeaway from this match is that Natalya in no way deserves the "she's a bad worker" label. This was her match, she called just about all of it from what I could tell (even if they were working from a del Rey blueprint) and I think again she's shown that when she's not restricted to three minute matches versus dead weight like Oksana or Tamina Snuka that Natalya can deliver the goods. --Tyson Kidd is impressive, and I think in the long run working under a mask may be the best for him because as it stands there's just something lacking when it comes to his ability to take his impressive talent and engage the crowd with said talent. That being said, I'm still not sure what the big deal is about Neville. He's okay in the ring, but in every big match he under-performs and is the lesser man in the ring. This match was no exception, as Kidd was so much better than Neville that I'd almost go so far as to label it a carry job. The athleticism is present for Neville, but the timing, selling, understanding of psychology, and other skills simply aren't present in the guy and he doesn't appear to be someone who's going to change much more. Dylan Waco
Neville might be the only wrestler I can think of who I think is far better off working fast and frantic, than he is trying to slow down and work a more traditional, sensical match based on building heat. When his matches slow down they completely die.
