Hollinger.
My problem with the finish was that the elbow wasn't set up well. It's never been a flash win kinda move, it's always been something that Rock used to put someone away after he'd been beating them. For him to put Punk away with it after getting the shit kicked out of him, then set up with just a spinebuster counter didn't feel right. Everything about the follow up on RAW was good, so I can't complain, it just felt uneven. Replace the spinebuster with a Rock Bottom, so the Elbow looks more like Rock showing Punk up after laying him out and it makes more sense. That's my opinion. Totally agree. The people's elbow from a spine buster was a weird finish and Punk looked stupid lying there with his eyes shut. The baffling thing is the feed for the Rock Bottom and spinebuster is practically the same...
Sean Liska
Overall, I wouldn't say Shoemaker is bitching in the article about Punk losing the title or the Mania booking plans as much as is he is arguing Vince took all of the interesting storyline developments of the past 5 months and tossed them out the window on Monday. Specifically, the reveal that the Shield and Maddox were in cahoots with Heyman and Punk all along. I still don't understand the article. They paid off everything they've teased over the last few months. Punk was finally revealed as being connected with Maddox and Shield, which the fans have known but were frustrated because no one was able to prove it, and he lost his title. All of his and Heyman's plotting came undone and Punk was humbled by the big triumphant babyface. What was undone?
KrisZ
Meltz answers the People's Elbow question The finish was because the program was built on Punk saying that people don’t matter and Rock saying they do, and thus the people’s elbow was used. Mr Wrestling X
The finish was because the program was built on Punk saying that people don’t matter and Rock saying they do, and thus the people’s elbow was used. No shit... Although the program was incredibly half-assed in places, that I can understand people not getting it. A good (and audible) chunk of the audience were still favouring Punk, regardless of what he was saying or doing to garner heat. This is telling, in the sense that people don't like one-dimensional "classic babyface" behaviour that WWE continually books for their characters. Edit: I haven't brought up John Cena yet, that requires further discussion.
Ditch
Wasn't the plan for Ryback/Show? That's umpteen times more a 'Wrestlemania' match than Ryback/Jericho. Or maybe he can't actually pull off the samoan drop on Show...
Loss
Jericho is very over right now as a babyface, just like he was last time he returned. They turned him last time no one wanted to boo him and it really got his entire run off on a bad note. It looks like they didn't learn from that, and they're going to repeat the mistake. I've never understood why WWE has been so hesitant to really go with a babyface Chris Jericho in a headline position for an extended period of time. They have no problem doing it as a heel, but I am guessing Vince likes him as a babyface very much.
Loss
I'd rather him work with Damien Sandow, who I really think has big potential as a top heel.
MJH
I enjoy the Damien Sandow character, but I don't really believe it either, it's still rather "put on" to me, though it's also one of the better (/best) new heel characters they've had in a while. Add me to people who'd rather see Ryback/Show. Show's at his best with a big hefty guy who can lay it back at him (see the Sheamus series), which falls comfortably within what Ryback can do, and incidentally I have no doubt Ryback can do his finish on Show. Maybe Jericho wants to put right his aborted Goldberg feud after fifteen years, who knows, but, as others have said, given how much the fans want to cheer Jericho, I'd keep him as a face too. WingedEagle
I don't see them passing on Ryback/Show as its a spectacular visual that they usually don't miss the boat on come Mania time. I'd also say they don't mess with revenue at Mania, but with chatter about taker sitting out and potentially cluttering the main event as a 3 way has me a bit concerned. Forget the nonsense about what Punk deserves. I just don't see why you water down the biggest attraction on what you hope will be your biggest show ever. Hollinger.
I don't know what else they could do with Punk that wouldn't be completely dropping him down the card. Maybe something with Bryan?

Loss
A Jericho/Ryback feud ... blech. Does Ryback even have a sister whose alcoholism can be exploited? Perhaps Jericho could do a full investigation that proves that Ryback asks to be fed when he has already eaten. And they could do an angle where Jericho throws food all over him and screams "YOU'VE BEEN FED!" The point is ... I'm tired of bloated heel Jericho storylines. Johnny Sorrow
I think Jericho actually prefers being a heel Yeah. That reminds me of the documentary part of his DVD where he says that the whole kicking, crying, and screaming while being carried away by security after being "fired" was his idea. I remember people being all "outraged" that "Vince embarrassed and buried" him, and Jericho just scoffs at that and then says that when he actually is done for good, he wants to do it again, not have some sappy "Goodbye". Loss
I've got it. Jericho will reveal Ryback to be a hypocrite who people cheer even when he does unjust things, and commit the next few months to hiding him behind a mask where he belongs. His catchphrase is "Feed Me", but Jericho will reveal that he actually has lunch on a regular basis with his alcoholic sister. His alcoholic sister, who Jericho will punch in the face, was sidelined for a year with a terrible knee injury. During this time, Ryback had no lunch companion, and that's how his catchphrase was born. He was very hungry by the time he had his match each night. Jericho will REVEL in showing the HYPOCRISY behind this somehow.

That sobriety test segment is one of the worse things I've ever witnessed in wrestling. As a face coming back in his first two nights I think he's been outstanding. Slasher
Over on DVDVR we decided the best choice was Punk/Lesnar vs HHH/Ryback. I would leave Ryback out to do the Show match, but logically Hunter could always ask Shawn to come back for one night to help defend the McMahon family honor against Heyman's big two. Dylan Waco
I don't know what else they could do with Punk that wouldn't be completely dropping him down the card. Maybe something with Bryan? I firmly believe Punk needs to take time off after Mania. He got 434 days as the champion and the end result is that there is no convincing/compelling match they can put him in at Mania, barring some unusually good storytelling from the WWE over the next couple of months. goodhelmet
Since losing the title, and since he was able to get a decent match out of him, Mania might not be a bad place to allow Ryback to get his revenge on Punk and set up a #1 contender match for the following PPV. concrete1992
Jericho vs. Ryback? If that didn't happen I would not in the least bit be upset. I don't know why WWE would go and turn Jericho face. Just let him and Ziggler meet up at Mania instead. Big Show/Ryback though would do me just fine for sure. Let the two big men go at it and have Ryback possibly hit his finish for that montage moment.

Which makes it even more disappointing that he's almost always used as a heel in everything he's been doing since leaving WWE. He's one of a handful of guys that I actually enjoy much more as a face than a heel, and there aren't a lot of babyfaces I like anyway.
