goc Posted April 6, 2014 Report Posted April 6, 2014 I sure hope Daniel Bryan doesn't decide to kill himself before he can main event the show! That dive was nuts.
Matt D Posted April 6, 2014 Report Posted April 6, 2014 God I wish I could have been a fly in the room when they discussed Hunter doing a Tiger suplex.
Timbo Slice Posted April 6, 2014 Report Posted April 6, 2014 Okay, this might be the best Triple H match in at least a decade.
goc Posted April 6, 2014 Report Posted April 6, 2014 That match was everything that is good about wrestling.
(BP) Posted April 6, 2014 Report Posted April 6, 2014 Stephanie screaming breakfast club lines at Bryan got the biggest pop so far with my party. She's on fire.
goodhelmet Posted April 6, 2014 Author Report Posted April 6, 2014 HHH vs. Daniel Bryan - You have to love Trips and Steph as the best heel duo ever before the bell. Great early shine leading to the dive by Bryan. I actually enjoyed Hunter's control segment on the are specially the nasty hammerlock on to the outside apron. Once Bryan makes his comebacks... Awesome cutoff spots with the clothesline and knee off the flying , the spinebuster. The entire house was begging Triple H to tap from that Vice. the house lost their shit when Bryan kicked out of the Pedigree. The end did not feel epic but the match may beat Owen-Bret as the best Mania opener ever.
Matt D Posted April 6, 2014 Report Posted April 6, 2014 That was a killer visual, Hunter coming out of nowhere.
anarchistxx Posted April 6, 2014 Report Posted April 6, 2014 Daniel Bryan just took HHH to his best match in over a decade. Bit weird with them channeling Benoit through a lot of the spots, but otherwise amazing. HHH busting out the chicken wing for the first time since the Benoit match in 2000 probably. Loved Steph talking shit at ringside, "Nobody does it like you hunter" and "You're b plus at best". Crowd is awesome. All the kicks and knees looked really stiff. Best match I've seen this year. Â Props to HHH for jobbing clean as a whistle.
Timbo Slice Posted April 7, 2014 Report Posted April 7, 2014 For as much as we talk about Bryan, that was Triple H's match and it was really fucking awesome.
goc Posted April 7, 2014 Report Posted April 7, 2014 They might as well just throw the Battle Royal on next or something, because it's going to be impossible to follow that.
anarchistxx Posted April 7, 2014 Report Posted April 7, 2014 Â Â For as much as we talk about Bryan, that was Triple H's match and it was really fucking awesome. Â What? Structurally it was way closer to a big Bryan Daniel match than a big Triple-H match. Since when does HHH bust out sunset flip powerbomb spots or tiger suplexes? Not his match at all, although he held his end up.
Timbo Slice Posted April 7, 2014 Report Posted April 7, 2014 Because the pace was a Triple H match. The structure was definitely a big Triple H match. He brought the majority of the stuff to the table. Bryan actually did more to work his spots in to the match more than Trips did.
Matt D Posted April 7, 2014 Report Posted April 7, 2014 I think the third act wasn't nearly as bloated as what Trips usually gives us, though. That's what made it come through the finish line well.
WingedEagle Posted April 7, 2014 Report Posted April 7, 2014 Kudos to Tripe H for working that about as perfectly as he could. The heat was great, the body work was focused, they added in a few highspots that are banned for everyone else and topped it off with a perfectly laid out finish that for whatever reason didn't feel as climactic as it should. But the postmatch sure as hell did and they are clearly all about building to the close of the show as a great moment for this era.
anarchistxx Posted April 7, 2014 Report Posted April 7, 2014 Goodhelmet's favourite match ever. Total squash.
goc Posted April 7, 2014 Report Posted April 7, 2014 That might be the best squash match ever at WrestleMania! Roman Reigns looked like a beast!
Timbo Slice Posted April 7, 2014 Report Posted April 7, 2014 Fair enough. But people saying that was a Daniel Bryan showcase or Trips did the big moves just because he was facing Bryan are missing the point.
Kevin Ridge Posted April 7, 2014 Report Posted April 7, 2014 That Shield match was so perfectly done! What a squash.
anarchistxx Posted April 7, 2014 Report Posted April 7, 2014 Â Â Because the pace was a Triple H match. The structure was definitely a big Triple H match. He brought the majority of the stuff to the table. Bryan actually did more to work his spots in to the match more than Trips did. Â Nah, that was way less methodical and plodding than your average Triple-H match. Just about all of those spots were fresh out of Daniel Bryan matches.
Matt D Posted April 7, 2014 Report Posted April 7, 2014 This is the most smile-tastic Mania ever so far.
WingedEagle Posted April 7, 2014 Report Posted April 7, 2014 That was an awfully quick squash for the Shield. No problems with it given the time. Is it just me or do the face pops for them not seem quite as big since they officially turned?
goodhelmet Posted April 7, 2014 Author Report Posted April 7, 2014 The Shield vs. Old Farts - Exactly as it should have been. Thumbs up!!! They are going to sell so many of those Skull masks.
tim Posted April 7, 2014 Report Posted April 7, 2014 "Theres goes the Attitude Era!"Let's hope that, in a way, when we look back on this event that's the line that rings most true.
WingedEagle Posted April 7, 2014 Report Posted April 7, 2014 My wish for this battle royal is a trophy-breaking post-match straight out of Mania 4, but given the trophy involved its not happening.
