It's coming, it's coming. Sorry for the delay, had some deadlines moved up at work last week which caused me to start later than I wanted in writing the shows (made the mistake of not writing anything until I received confirmation Race was coming in for the weekend). It's four house shows and two TV shows covering July 1-3 (WWC has both Saturday and Sunday TV).

7/1/83 –Coliseo Pachin Vicens - Ponce

We’re a day away from the big NWA world title match between Harley Race and Carlos Colon, but we have action in Ponce tonight.

Victor Jovica vs. Gypsy Rodrigues

Our opening contest features Victor Jovica making one of his semi-regular appearances in Puerto Rico against recent arrival Gypsy Rodrigues. Although Gypsy had his moments, the match was Jovica’s all the way and he wins it with the sleeperhold.

Winner: Victor Jovica

Ray Apollon vs. Masaji Goto

Ray Apollon, who is also making one of his semi-regular appearances, is taking on Japanese rookie Masaji Goto. Despite Goto’s youth and exuberance, it is Apollon’s experience that makes the difference and allows him to control the pace of the match. Apollon wins when Goto misses a charge into the corner and is stunned enough to be covered for the pin.

Winner: Ray Apollon

“Hacksaw” Jim Duggan vs. Barrabas

The man called Hacksaw is making his debut tonight against the ever crafty Barrabas. Despite Barrabas’ best attempts, Duggan’s power was too much and Duggan gets the win in an impressive debut.

Winner: “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan

King Tonga vs. Scott Ferris

King Tonga makes quick work of the debuting Ferris, not breaking too much of a sweat on the way to victory.

Winner: King Tonga

Buddy Landell vs. Angelo Rivera

Landell is looking forward to his North American title rematch tomorrow. Maybe a bit too focused on that and not on his opponent. Landell almost was upset when Angelo hit a nice crossbody and almost got the pinfall. However, Landell refocused after that and subdued Rivera for the win.

Winner: Buddy Landell

Dick Slater vs. Joe Savoldi

Dick Slater makes his return to Puerto Rico and has little trouble against young up and comer Joe Savoldi.

Winner: Dick Slater

Jay Youngblood vs. Terry Gibbs

Jay Youngblood’s debut has been anticipated by the fans and he did not disappoint. His opponent is one half of the reigning Caribbean tag champions Terry Gibbs. Youngblood showed off his dynamic skills, and despite the best efforts of Terry Gibbs, he get the win with his flying tomahawk chop.

Winner: Jay Youngblood

Harley Race vs. El Gran Apollo

The NWA World champion Harley Race takes on young and hungry opponent el Gran Apollo (one half of the North American tag champions). The match is an interesting contrast of styles, with Race trying to keep Apollo to the mat, while Apollo uses his quickness to try to go on the offensive. After about fifteen minutes of action, Apollo went for a body press but Race used the momentum to rollover and hold Apollo down for a pin. After the match Race delivered a few stomps to Apollo before leaving the ring.

Winner: Harley Race

Carlos Colon/Pedro Morales/Mil Mascaras vs. Kendo Nagasaki/ Medico #1/Medico #2

Hugo Savinovich has been trying to ensure that Carlos would not make it to the title match but has not been successful. Tonight three of Hugo’s charges team up to try to stop Carlos one day before the title match. However, Carlos is not alone as he is teaming up with Pedro Morales and Mil Mascaras. This is an exciting match with the wrestlers pairing off and action going back and forth for eighteen minutes. The end comes when all three men are battling in the ring and Mil Mascaras surprises Medico 2 with the flying burrito leading to the pin.

Winner: Carlos Colon, Pedro Morales and Mil Mascaras

Post-match, Los Medicos and Kendo jump Mil and Pedro and toss them put of the ring. All three then gang up on Carlos and try to take him out. Mil and Pedro make a quick save and Carlos avoids serious injury. As Hugo leads his charges away, the tecnicos celebrate in the ring.

Super Estrellas de la Lucha Libre – 7/2/83

Show opening credits play showing different scenes of wrestling action while “Joy” plays over the intro.

Rickin Sanchez is sitting at the interview desk and welcomes the viewers to the show. He mentions that today is the day we have been waiting for. Tonight, at Coliseo Roberto Clemente, is the awaited NWA World title match between champion Harley Race and our own Carlitos Colon. It’s been a bit of a bumpy road for Carlos but the day has arrived. Rickin runs down the rest of the card and says that we’ll hear comments from both Carlos Colon and Harley Race later in the show. But first let’s send it to some action. Here’s Joaquin Padin with the call.

Match #1: Buddy Landell & Terry Gibbs vs. Isaac Rosario & Victor Jovica

Landell & Gibbs are the reigning Caribbean champs. They dominate the match when Rosario is in but it is more even when Jovica is in. Landell and Gibbs end up taking the victory by pinning Isaac Rosario.

Winner: Buddy Landell & Terry Gibbs by pinfall

There is a rundown of tonight’s card before going to commercial.

We return from commercials with Rickin at the interview desk, where he starts going over the events that have led up to tonight’s NWA World title match. Clips and highlights play of the events as Rickin explains. Throughout 1982, Ric Flair and Carlos Colon had engaged in a series of matches were neither man could claim an advantage. Then, earlier this year, Carlos and Flair faced each other once more for the NWA World title. It was in this match where it appeared that Carlos Colon had achieved the dream and become the NWA World champion by pinning Ric Flair. However, this turned out not to be the case when NWA officials reviewed the tape of the match and it was seen that Carlos had his leg tangled in the ropes when the pin was made. Carlos, being a man of integrity, returned the title to the NWA. He said at the time that this was not how the title should be won and, even though it was not intentional, he couldn’t accept winning under those circumstances. As such, the title victory was nullified and Ric Flair remained the champion.

Despite Flair vowing that Carlos would not get another title match, the NWA title committee ordered a return match to take place. The date selected for this match is today, July 2nd. Despite the best efforts of Hugo Savinovich, who claims that Ric Flair entrusted him with the task of making sure Carlos Colon would not make it to the title match, the day has arrived. But life takes mysterious turns, and in one of life’s quirks, it is Flair who has not made it to today’s match. Three weeks ago Harley Race became the new NWA World champion, and it is he who Carlos will face tonight. Carlos has been training hard, but this change of opponent this close to the title match may pose a problem for his strategy tonight. We’ll get comments from Carlos later in the show.

Commercial break.

Match #2: King Tonga-Gran Apollo vs. Barrabas-Gypsy Rodriguez

Tonga and Apollo are the North American tag champs and make quick work of the team of Barrabas and Gypsy Rodrigues. Tonga ends up kicking Gypsy in the face for the win.

Winner: King Tonga & Gran Apollo by pinfall

Back to Rickin at the desk where he starts talking about some of the other matches on tonight’s card. There is a return match for the North American title featuring Pedro Morales defending against Buddy Landell, the man he won it from a week ago. Also, King Tonga defends the Puerto Rico title against Terry Gibbs. Landell and Gibbs join Rickin at the desk and provide comments about their matches. They say they have a plan and they will both be double champions once the night is done. Rickin asks them about who they think will win tonight’s world title match, and both insultingly dismiss Carlos as having any type of chance against someone the caliber of Harley Race . Dick Slater is next at the desk, making his return to Puerto Rico. His opponent tonight is Mil Mascaras, who he calls overrated and not on his level. Rickin asks Slater about who he thinks will win tonight’s World title match and Slater quickly says that Colon is in over his head against Harley Race. He knows Harley, who is a good friend of his, and he is a world class wrestler and a man’s man. No way Colon will win.

Another card rundown and commercial break.

Back from the break, Rickin mentions that this weekend we are seeing the debuts of a few wrestlers. One of them is Jay Youngblood who joins Rickin at the desk. Jay gives some of his background and mentions he looks forward to wrestling in front of the Puerto Rican fans. Rickin wishes him luck this weekend. Another wrestler debuting this weekend is Jim Duggan, nicknamed Hacksaw. Duggan joins Rickin at the desk and talks about how he has heard how you have to be tough to compete in Puerto Rico. Well, Hacksaw is as tough as they come and he will prove it in the ring. Rickin says that we look forward to seeing him compete. Two wrestlers who are not newcomers but are among the fans favorites are next, as King Tonga and El Gran Apollo join Rickin. They comment about their matches tonight against Terry Gibbs and Kendo Nagasaki, respectively. Rickin then asks them about tonight’s World title match and who they think will win. Tonga says he’s rooting for Carlos, but knows of Harley Race’s reputation and that it won’t be easy. Apollo agrees, adding that he faced Race last night in Ponce and he is every bit the wrestler they say he is. Still, they hope that Carlos will prevail.

Commercial break

Match #3: Dick Slater vs. Angelo Rivera

Dick Slater is back in Puerto Rico and shows he has not lost his touch, dispatching Angelo Rivera without too much trouble.

Winner: Dick Slater by pinfall

Back at the desk, Rickin mentions that they have taped comments from Harley Race about tonight’s title match. A video is played of Harley Race, where he mentions that he has heard a lot about Carlos Colon. How he is the best Puerto Rico has to offer, how he has designs on being the world’s champion. Race wants to tell Carlos Colon that he hopes he handles disappointment well, because he has no plans on leaving Puerto Rico without his title. Just three weeks ago he became world champion for the seventh time in his career; it takes a hell of a man to be able to accomplish that. He knows what it’s like to desire to become champion. But greater than that desire is the need to remain champion and Carlos Colon, you and Puerto Rico better get ready to deal with disappointment.

Back at the desk, Rickin explains to the Spanish speaking viewers what Race spoke about in the clip. Then Rickin brings in his next guest, Hugo Savinovich. Hugo takes a seat at the desk but is not alone; he’s accompanied by Barrabas who stands behind him almost like a bodyguard. Rickin welcomes him and asks him about why Barrabas is here with him, Hugo promptly tells Rickin that they are associates and that is all he’ll say about that. Rickin says that the day has arrived, tonight is the NWA World title match, and it seems Carlos Colon is still around to compete. Hugo stares at Rickin for a moment and starts talking that Colon may still be standing, but that the constant bouts with his charges have taken a toll and he’s not going to be in top condition. Just last week he had to deal with Abdullah the Butcher, and he doesn’t have to talk about what a meat grinder it is to be in the ring with Abdullah. And last night he got worn down by three of the toughest and best wrestlers in Puerto Rico. Kendo and los Medicos. Rickin brings up that Hugo’s team lost last night but Hugo waves him off saying that the end goal was to wear Colon down. And on the subject of Kendo and Los Medicos, he guarantees victory for Kendo tonight against Apollo and he says he doesn’t even have to give a second thought to Los Medicos having any difficulty with Chicky Starr and Angelo Rivera.

Rickin says that is fine, but getting back to the world title match, who does he think will win. Hugo looks at Barrabas and mutters that this guy really has just a one track mind. Barrabas just nods his head and Hugo turns to Rickin again. Why do you even bother to ask me this, you know very well that I have stated time and time again what an embarrassment Carlos Colon would be as NWA World champion. I’ve said it when Ric Flair was champion and I’ll say it again with Harley Race as champion, Carlos Colon is nowhere in the league of those two gentlemen. And yes, I say gentlemen, because that is what they are unlike Carlos Colon. And one more thing, I’ve personally offered my services to Harley Race tonight to make sure that everything is on the up and up, so I’ll be right there at ringside to make sure that Harley Race receives a fair shake. “Así que Carlos Colon, como se dice por ahí, esta noche no te vistas por que no vas.”’

Card rundown and commercial break.

Match #4: Kendo Nagasaki vs. Chicky Starr

Kendo is accompanied by Hugo for this match. Chicky shows flurries of offense throughout the match but in the end Kendo gets the win.

Winner: Kendo Nagasaki by pinfall

Joaquin Padin sends it back to Rickin Sanchez and signs off with “Sayonara”.

Rickin mentions that we are closer to tonight’s NWA World title match and that we have heard from Harley Race and Hugo Savinovich. But there are some other gentlemen who he wants to bring in to get their thoughts. First of is Mil Mascaras, making a return appearance to Puerto Rico. Rickin welcomes him, saying it is always a pleasure and a joy to have a gentleman of his caliber grace our rings. Mil thanks Rickin and says that it’s always a joy to be in Puerto Rico. Tonight he’s facing Dick Slater tonight, he’s tough competitor but Mil is ready for him and he’ll come out on top. Mil mentions that he heard Hugo’s comments a few moments ago and he can’t believe that he could say some of those things with a straight face. He’s known Carlos Colon for some time, he’s competed with him in the ring, and he knows that he can definitely beat Harley Race tonight. Rickin thanks Mil for his comments and wishes him luck tonight.

Next is Pedro Morales. Rickin welcomes him and says that tonight is his first defense of the North American title he won one week ago against the very man he dethroned Buddy Landell. Pedro says that it was such a proud moment for him when he was able to win the North American title in front of his people. He’s ready for Buddy tonight; although he’s aware he has to watch out for possible chicanery from him and Terry Gibbs. Rickin then turns the subject to the NWA World title match. Pedro says that he’s been advising and training with Carlos these past few weeks, trying to get him prepared for Race. Pedro says he is familiar with Race and knows that he is a very worthy World champion, a tough competitor. Rickin mentions that so is Pedro, both in having experience at being World champion and at being a tough competitor. Pedro thanks Rickin for his comments and says that you can easily say that Carlos is at that level, he’s known him for a long time and they’re the reigning World tag team champions, so he knows Carlos can do it.

At that moment Carlos shows up for his interview and Pedro gets up and gives him a hug and says that we’re all behind you tonight. Carlos thanks Pedro and Pedro leaves. Carlos sits at the interview desk. Rickin shakes Carlos’ hand and says that the day has arrived. Carlos says that yes, the day has arrived, it’s been an interesting ride to get here but here we are here nonetheless. Rickin asks him that everybody is aware that he has been preparing for months with Ric Flair in mind, but three weeks ago Harley Race became champ. Carlos says that there has been some adjustment, but at this level it’s always a possibility for a new champ when you have such high caliber wrestlers competing for the NWA World title all the time. Still, he’s ready for tonight. He knows Harley Race’s reputation and knows that he is a tough and skilled champion. But, Harley Race doesn’t know the heart and courage Puerto Ricans have, and this Puerto Rican will give everything he has tonight. Carlos knows that the public will be there to support him tonight and that, when he wins tonight, it will be for the Puerto Rican people. Rickin says that we are all with you tonight Carlos. Carlos thanks Rickin and exits.

Rickin wraps up the show by going over tonight’s card at Coliseo Roberto Clemente one final time and reminding viewers to tune in tomorrow for the Sunday edition of Super Estrellas de la Lucha Libre.

The west coast version of this program includes a card rundown and some comments from the wrestlers about Sunday’s afternoon show in Aguadilla.

Rickin Sanchez impressed the hell out of me when I watched some Puerto Rico that I think was from around 1983. He seemed like he was doing a really good job covering for some of the English speaking guys like Gino Della Serra who were just stumbling all over the place in their promos. I'm not sure where he ranks in the "show hosts" echelon with guys like Mean Gene but he seems very good.

Nice to see El Gran Apollo get an NWA World Title match and a successful North American Tag Title defense. I really like the style you are going for here with a "taking over real life Puerto Rico in July" approach and continuing some of the stories that were going on at the time like that write up about the Ric Flair/Carlos Colon feud and Colon having to face Harley Race in his big title rematch instead.

Thanks to all so far for the generous feedback. These initial shows took longer to write precisely because of the decision to go with a jumping in approach instead of a from scratch approach. It does provide a good strong direction to start. I hope to have the rest of the first weekend posted tomorrow. I want to let a little anticipation build for the Saturday card. Once I get that done then I'll take in what's been going on elsewhere and comment on the goings on.

Can't tell you how elated I am to see you sticking with Landel and Gibbs as a team like in real life. WWC was where Landel got his first real bleach blond push. They made a pretty decent heel team over there. Also cool to see Haku over here, he was bad ass in WWC, Gorilla was always booking Tonga in Puerto Rico when he owned a part of the territory.

Dick Slater here works for me. Easily a main eventer.

Love the WWC.

7/2/83 – Coliseo Roberto Clemente – San Juan

Jose Miguel Perez defeated Joe Savoldi via pinfall at 5:38. After the bout both men shook hands.

Victor Jovica & Ray Apollon defeated Barrabas & Gypsy Rodrigues when Rodrigues submitted to Jovica’s sleeperhold at 7:19.

Hacksaw” Jim Duggan defeated Scott Ferris via pinfall at 6:02

Jay Youngblood defeated Masaji Goto via pinfall at 7:20 after Youngblood hit his Tomahawk chop

Kendo Nagasaki (w/Hugo Savinovich) defeated El Gran Apollo via pinfall at 13:54 after a distraction by Hugo Savinovich allowed Nagasaki to use his kendo stick on Apollo.

Los Medicos (w/Hugo Savinovich) defeated Angelo Rivera & Denny Brown (substituting for-Chicky Starr who did not appear to due to travel issues) via pinfall at 8:23.

Puerto Rico Title Match: King Tonga defeats. Terry Gibbs via pinfall at 10:25. Throughout the match Gibbs would glance every now and then at ringside as if he were expecting someone to appear, but no one ever showed.

Dick Slater and Mil Mascaras battled to a double countout at 15:58. Mil dove onto Slater on the outside, leading to both men being counted. Both men continued fighting after the bell rang.

North American Title Match: Pedro Morales defeated. Buddy Landell via pinfall at 14:24. Late in the bout Terry Gibbs tried to interfere on behalf of Landell. However, miscommunication caused Landell to get thrown into Gibbs, who was on the ring apron at the time, allowing Morales to schoolboy Landell for the win.

NWA World Heavyweight Title Match: Carlos Colon defeats Harley Race by DQ at 33:45 when Race threw Colon over the top rope. Hugo Savinovich accompanied Harley Race for this match. This match was a seesaw battle. Late in the contest Carlos was setting upo for the figure-four leglock when Hugo Savinovich distracted the referee. Carlos went after Hugo and knocked him off the apron. Race managed to get back on his feet and, as cArlos went after Race, leveraged Colon’s momentum to send him over the top rope drawing a DQ. As a result Race retains the NWA World Heavyweight title.

Post-match, Dick Slater jumped Carlos Colon at ringside as Hugo egged Slater on. Mil Mascaras quickly came out and helped Carlos before any serious damage could be done. As a result of this, a tag match has been signed for tomorrow night in Arecibo, where Carlos Colon & Mil Mascaras will take on Harley Race & Dick Slater.

Did Mascaras put more effort into his PR matches than his U.S. matches? Liking the Colon vs. Harley stuff. I can't imagine it's as good as Hansen vs. Colon, but Harley was good at getting heat and that crowd LOVED Colon. I'm waiting on Colon and Race bleeding.

Looks like throwing your opponent over the top rope is a DQ in Puerto Rico too.

On a serious note, I'm interested to see what you do with Duggan too.

Does Kendo Nagasaki have a kendo stick because his name is Kendo?

Wondering who Terry Gibbs was looking for.

I think Race and Colon is a good main event, and the upcoming tag match sounds good too.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Actually posting a house show has got me all motivated to keep it going.

Throwing your opponent over the top rope in WWC is not actually a DQ, but since this was an NWA World Heavyweight title match the NWA rules for title matches were in effect. Thus, in this case, it resulted in the DQ.

Super Estrellas de la Lucha Libre – 7/3/83

Show opening credits play showing different scenes of wrestling action while “Joy” plays over the intro.

Rickin Sanchez is sitting at the interview desk and welcomes the viewers to the show. Last night was the long awaited NWA World title match between Harley Race and Carlos Colon. Rickin informs the viewers that while Carlos did win the match, since it was by DQ the title does not change hands. However, there was some activity post-match that has resulted in a match being signed for tonight’s card in Arecibo. We’ll see some of the action from last night’s match and the post-match altercation that resulted in tonight’s main event. Also tonight, Pedro Morales will take on Kendo Nagasaki and the North American tag titles will be defended. Let’s go to the studio for our first match.

Here’s Joaquin Padin with the call.

Match #1: Buddy Landell-Terry Gibbs vs. Chicky Starr-Angelo Rivera

Landell and Gibbs are not in a good mood after losing their individual title matches last night. Still, they remain the Caribbean tag champions and face the team of Rivera and Starr. Angelo and Chicky started off strong, causing Gibbs and Landell to scramble and start arguing with each other. This continued throughout as it seemed Landell and Gibbs were not on the same page. Because of this, Chicky was able to surprise Gibbs with a small package for the upset pin. As the referee raised Chicky and Angelo’s arms, Landell and Gibbs jumped them and attacked them out of anger at losing. After a few moments, Landell and Gibbs angrily grabbed their titles and stormed off as Angelo and Chicky started to gather themselves.

Winner: Chicky Starr and Angelo Rivera

Card rundown for tonight in Arecibo and commercial break.

Back from the break, Rickin mentions that due to the win we saw a few moments ago by Chicky and Angelo, tonight in Arecibo Buddy and Terry will be defending the Caribbean tag titles against them. He brings in his first guest, none other than Hugo Savinovich. Hugo enters accompanied by Barrabas and sits at the desk. Barrabas stands behind Hugo. Rickin welcomes him and says that it was an interesting night last night. Hugo responds by saying that if by interesting he meant successful then he agreed. Last night it became evident that he had been speaking the truth all along, that Carlos Colon would not be the NWA World champion. Colon’s a loser, always has been and always will. Rickin brings up that Carlos won the match, but because of the NWA championship rules, the title could not change hands. Hugo says that it’s just proof of how Carlos Colon could not get the job done. Rickin mentions that Carlos had the match well in hand until Race took the easy way out and threw Carlos over the top rope to earn the DQ. Hugo looks at Rickin and tells him to stop making excuses for Carlos Colon. “I was there and had the best view of what really happened. It’s obvious that Carlos Colon realized how outclassed he was against Harley Race, so he first tried to attack me, an innocent bystander, in order to distract the referee to enact some sort of nefarious tactic since he was so outclassed. Then, when he saw it wouldn’t work, he jumped over the top rope to get away. What a coward.” Rickin mentions that the referee didn’t see it that way. Hugo says that he just calls them as he sees them.

Rickin mentions that we’ll see the video later and the viewers can make their own judgement about what happened. Rickin asks Hugo about the matches Kendo and Los Medicos have tonight, with Hugo guaranteeing victories for his charges.

Card rundowns for the coming week’s house shows and commercial break.

Match#2: Los Medicos vs. Jose Miguel Perez-Victor Jovica

Los Medicos will be challenging King Tonga and El Gran Apollo tonight for the North American tag titles. Here, they face two veterans in Jose Miguel Perez and Victor Jovica. The match is solid back and forth affair, but Los Medicos get the upper hand by switching in and out. Behind the refs back Los Medicos win by isolating Perez and getting the pin.

Winner: Los Medicos

Back at the desk, Rickin remarks that Los Medicos looked impressive in their victory and that they look to have some momentum heading into tonight’s title match. But it won’t be easy since they’ll be facing King Tonga and El Gran Apollo, who join Rickin at the desk. Rickin asks them if they are ready and they both take turns saying that they are. Apollo says that Los Medicos are a tricky team and they would be have to be careful. Tonga adds that they know they have to also watch out for Hugo at ringside, but that Los Medicos are in for a tough night. Rickin wishes them luck and brings in his next guest Pedro Morales.

As Pedro arrives, he greets and shakes hands with Apollo and Tonga, with Tonga whispering something to Pedro and Pedro laughing and responding back. Rickin welcomes Pedro and asks him about the exchange with Tonga. Pedro says when he came back to Puerto Rico a few months ago, he had two goals. One was to be able to wrestle in front of his people, the other was to see if he could lend a hand in guiding some of the up and comers. Right away Apollo and Tonga caught his attention and he’s been training with them in order to help them reach their potential. Rickin says that it’s impressive what they’ve accomplished already and Pedro agrees. Rickin asks him about his match tonight with Kendo and Pedro says that Kendo is a very capable opponent and one who’s not above using different means to get the win. Pedro promises that he’ll come out on top tonight in Arecibo. As Pedro leaves, Rickin says that we will see Pedro in action when we get back from the break.

Card rundown for tonight in Arecibo and commercial break.

Match #3: Pedro Morales vs. Gypsy Rodrigues

Pedro makes quick work of Gypsy, getting the pinfall victory.

Winner: Pedro Morales

Back at the desk Rickin is joined by Angelo Rivera and Chicky Starr. Rickin asks them if they are okay for tonight’s return bout and Chicky says that Gibbs and Landell may have gotten their licks in, but he and Angelo would have the last laugh tonight. Angelo comments that people may think they are underdogs, but they have a lot of heart and will look to repeat their victory.

Next, Rickin brings in Jim Duggan, who has looked impressive so far in his matches. Duggan says that he’s enjoying his time in Puerto Rico, and is looking to move up the ladder and get into title contention. Jay Youngblood is next and makes and comments on how he’s thankful to the fans for the warm reception they have given in and that he‘s looking forward to his upcoming matches.

Rickin says that it is an exciting time with all of these recent newcomers. He then says that there is also another wrestler who will be making his debut this next weekend. A video is shown of match highlights showing a very impressive and tall wrestler. After a minute of highlights, a brief promo is shown where the man says that Puerto Rico better get ready, because they are about to get a taste of what a Tennessee Stud is all about. Ron Fuller will debut this coming week..

Card rundowns for the coming week’s house shows and commercial break.

Back from the break, Rickin is joined by Buddy Landell and Terry Gibbs. Both men seem a bit angry. Rickin asks them how everything’s going and Landell snaps that Rickin should mind his own business. Rickin asks them about their loss against Chicky and Angelo Landell says that it was a fluke, one that won’t be repeated. Rickin mentions that it seems that it looked off, as if they were having trouble communicating. Landell says that it’s nothing; they’re still the Caribbean tag champs and will remain so. Rickin asks to the conspicuously quiet Terry Gibbs and asks him about tonight’s match. Gibbs says that he’s looking to retain his title tonight. Rickin mentions that at least he still has this one considering that he was unsuccessful in his Puerto Rico title match. At this point Gibbs angrily retorts that it would have been different if the plan had gone as he thought it would. Gibbs then snaps at LAndell “And just were where you, you were supposed to be out there to help me” Landell said that he had confidence that his partner could handle it and that if it weren’t for Gibbs last night, he would have regained the North American title. Gibbs can’t believe that Landell is blaming him for that, and starts yelling that at least he didn’t leave his partner out to dry during his title match last night. At this point Rickin thanks them for their time as Landell and Gibbs start arguing and yelling at each other as they leave the desk.

At this moment, Rickin says they are going to show highlights from last night’s NWA World title match. As video of the match plays, Rickin narrates some of the events. Viewers see footage of the ending, including Hugo’s distraction attempt, Carlos knocking him off the apron, Race throwing Carlos over the top rope, the post-match attack involving Dick Slater and Mil Mascaras making the save.

After the clip plays, Rickin is joined at the desk by Harley Race and Dick Slater. Rickin welcomes them and aks them about last night. Race talks about how Colon found out what it takes to be NWA World champion and that Colon does not have it. Rickin asks him if he felt that he may have been unprepared for last night’s match but Race says that as a seven time NWA World champion he is used to having to go anywhere and everywhere and face off against men he’s has not had time to scout. Rickin asks Race about the match’s ending, some people might say that Race might have taken an easy way out. Race says that is not true, he never takes any easy way out he takes on every challenge head on.

Turning to Dick Slater, Rickin asks him why he made his presence known after the match was over. Slater explains that Harley is a friend of his and he’s well aware of what a dirty wrestler Colon can be. He just knew that Colon was about to try something after being embarrassed by Race and that he was there to help his friend before anything nefarious was done by Colon. But Mil Mascaras had to stick his nose where it did not belong and that he will gladly take him out tonight. Race says that tonight he will again show that he is the better man.

As Rickin thanks them for their time, Race says to wait a moment. There was one other man who was there last night making sure that nothing untoward went down and Race wanted to show his appreciation. He asks for Hugo Savinovich to join them. As Hugo arrives, Race says that it is tough to know who to depend on when so many people would stoop to any level to obtain the greatest prize in all of wrestling. As a token of his appreciation, Race presents Hugo with a new pair of cowboy boots. Hugo is overwhelmed and says that he will wear them with pride and honor.

Card rundown for tonight in Arecibo and commercial break.

Match #4: Abdullah the Butcher vs. Isaac Rosario

Abdullah the Butcher dominates Isaac Rosario. During the match, Hugo joins Joaquin Padin on commentary and reminds everyone that no one is safe from “his monster, his machine”.

Winner: Abdullah the Butcher

With that, Joaquin Padin signs off and sends it back to Rickin at the desk, where he is joined by Carlos Colon and Mil Mascaras. Rickin welcomes them and asks Carlos how he was doing. Carlos says that he is disappointed that he couldn’t bring the NWA World title to Puerto Rico. He was sure he had it, but Race managed to find a way to escape. Rickin says that in the almost ten years he has been involved in Capitol Sports Promotions he was never so sure that he’d see Carlos do it than he was last night. Carlos says that he has to move beyond the disappointment and focus on tonight. Carlos says he wants to publicly thank Mil for coming to his aid. Mil says that it was nothing; he knows Carlos would do the same. Mil mentions that he has a score to settle with Slater and that he knew Carlos would definitely want to get his hands on both Slater and Race. Carlos says that he hopes to get a small measure of satisfaction tonight.

Rickin wraps up the show by going over tonight’s card in Arecibo and the Thursday and Friday lineups. Tune in next Saturday for Super Estrellas de la Lucha Libre
