Jesse Ewiak Posted July 20, 2015 Report Share Posted July 20, 2015 Saturday Night Wrestling Air Date: July 2nd, 1983 0:00 – 0:02 Marc Lowrance introduces us to the show tonight, and hypes up the big main event tonight, of David Von Erich taking on 'Bad News' Allen Coage, noting Coage's amateur credentials, and his big match against Sgt. Slaughter at the 4th of July show. In addition, Lowrance explains there will be a 'classic' match reran between The Freebirds and The Von Erich's later tonight, along with The Mongol defending his TV title, Kamala in action against the young scientific wrestler Al Perez, and much more! 0:02 – 0:12 Match 1: Norvell Austin vs. Rock Riddle (w/ Ken Timbs) After a short exchange of holds, Riddle took the early advantage with a series of low level moves including a shoulderblock and a bodyslam. However, Norvell fought fire with fire after reversing a suplex, and hit a variety of high impact maneuvers, including a Hotshot and a big dropkick. But, Timbs pushed Austin off the top rope while Riddle kept the referee busy, and that allowed Rock to got back on offense, and even allowed Timbs to get a cheap shot in after a kickout by Austin. Near the end of the match though, Riddle went for another big suplex, but Norvell slipped through, then got the pinfall after hitting a snap suplex and the diving headbutt! Norvell Austin p. Rock Riddle – 7' 35” It looks like Timbs & Riddle are going to go to work on Austin as he celebrates, but Al Perez rushes out to the ring to protect his tag partner, and the 'Bodacious Blondes' decide to wait 'til the 4th, and slither go back to the locker room. After the match, we get a short hype video for Korstia Korchenko, with lots of Soviet imagery, nuclear missiles, Khrushchev slamming his show, before ending with a logo stating 'The Next Russian Nightmare Begins on the 4th of July! 0:12-0:16 Commercials and local house show ads 0:16-0:25 Match 2: The Mongol © vs. Mike Miller – WCCW Television Title bout Lowrance goes over Miller's success in Portland, as he enters the ring to take on the current Television champ, who is currently embroiled in a war with Bugsy McGraw. Early shine to Miller as he avoids The Mongol's attacks, hits a few hiptosses, and even manages to land an elbowdrop. Unfortunately for Miller though, when he tried for the big legdrop, The Mongol rolled out of the way and went to work on Miller, throwing him from pillar to post, before tossing him through the ropes. Mike tried to fight back against the assault of the WCCW Television champion, but eventually fell to a big boot and running elbow from The Mongol, who retained his title. The Mongol © p. Mike Miller – 5' 36” Right away, Bugsy McGraw runs in from the back, bull rushing The Mongol from behind and clotheslining him over the top rope to the outside, before WCCW officials rush the ring and make sure the two competitors don't go after each other once again. While the various referees and backstage personell get the ring ready for the next match, Lowrance tosses to a video for Sgt. Slaughter, set to 'The Green Beret'. 0:25-0:30 Commercials and local house show advertisements 0:30-0:44 Match #3: Al Perez vs. Kamala (w/ Skandor Akbar) Right from the beginning of this match, it was obvious that there was only way that Perez was going to survive this match – stick 'n' move. No scientific wrestling, no power moves, no close quarter combat, just hitting a few quick moves, then getting out of the way of the assault from the Ugandan Nightmare. For the first few minutes, this looked to be actually working as Perez came in, hit a dropkick, a few quick forearms, and even knocked Kamala into the corner with a running knee. However, as soon as Perez got a little overconfident, and tried to slam the big man, the weight of Kamala fell on the young up 'n' comer, and nearly got the pinfall. From there, Kamala locked on a nerve hold, which Perez took a while to power out of. There was a short fiery comeback, but then, Kamala locked on a bear hug, further weakening Perez. One big splash later, and Kamala had gotten the victory. Kamala p. Al Perez – 10' 22” After the victory, Lowrance was joined by the entirety of Devastation Inc., including Kamala, Big John Studd, and The Great Kabuki. Akbar first ranted against the departed Freebirds, claiming that he'd been waiting for the 'bird brains' to fail, so that once again, Skandor Akbar could rule Texas with an iron fist. Akbar then went after the Von Erich's, saying that Fritz had been able to hide his boys in matches against 'frilly little rock stars', but now, the Von Erich's would feel the full power of Devastation Inc. and on the 4th of July, it would be the end of the 'Von Erich reign of terror' would end! 0:44-0:48 Commercials and local house show advertisements 0:48-0:66 Lowrance introduced, then through to a cut-up 'classic' match between The Freebird's and The Von Erich's from earlier in the year, with of course, the Von Erich boys getting the pinfall win. Coming back from the match, Marc Lowrance is standing with 'Bad News' Allen Coage. Lowrance goes over Coage's accomplishments, but the former Olympic medalist interrupts Lowrance and launches into a rant. Coage: Are you ever going to let me speak, Lowrance, or are you just going to list off my accomplishments like you're tryin' to get a good price for me down by the water? OOH! Lowrance: Mr. Coage, I apologize if - Coage: Shove it. I'm used to it. Ya' see, Mr. Lowrance, as the Ultimate Warrior of the squared circle, I've spent a lot of time in another promotion that was run by a corrupt family who controlled a whole section of a nation and treated it like their own little feifdom. But, wow, compared to the Hart Mafia, they're small time crooks compared to the meticulous propaganda I see from Fritz Von Erich, so desperate to protect his boys! BOO! Coage: Yeah, yeah, boo all you want. David, Kerry, Kevin, none of 'em are takin' ya to the prom! Look what happened - the Freebirds are kicking the Von Erich's from head to toe all over this God forsaken state, and all of the sudden - they're out of here. Contract issues. Let's be honest here, Marc Lowrance. Fritz Von Erich ran the Freebirds out on a rail because he knew they'd expose his boys as the frauds they are! BOO! Coage: So tonight, I'm going to start with the 'Yellow Rose of Texas' - HIGH PITCHED SQUEALS! Coage: - yeah, David. Now, David, don't get me wrong. You're a fine wrestler. One day, you may even be a great one. But, I'm a martial arts master. I am the Ultimate Warrior. After I run through like butter, and all of these Texas rednecks see a proud black man standing over their fallen hero, I'm going to walk into Fort Worth, a city that makes Calgary look like New York City - BOOS! Coage: - and prove that like most Americans, and most soldiers, Sgt. Slaughter is nothin' when against an actual man like 'Bad News' Allen Coage! 0:66-0:70 Commercials and local house show advertisements 0:70-0:90 Match #4: David Von Erich vs. 'Bad News' Allen Coage After Bad News's bitter promo against the entire Von Erich family, the state of Texas, and America in general, the fans were entirely all too happy to boo the former Olympic medalist as he came to the ring. Of course, David got a hero's welcome. From the beginning of the match though, it was obvious that 'Bad News' was a different kind of animal than even battles against talented stars such as Terry Gordy, Michael Hayes, and perhaps, even Ric Flair. After all, per usual, David tried to outwrestle Coage, but was surprised when not only did 'Bad News' manage to reverse many of David's holds, using various martial art holds and maneuvers that seemed to confuse young David. After gaining the advantage, Coage hit martial art strikes, elbow strikes, and a hard series of throws that slowed Von Erich down. Coage then hit a delayed suplex, and went for the Ghetto Blaster, but Von Erich ducked out of the way, and went on offense himself. After several big moves, including a huge side suplex, Von Erich went for the Claw, but Coage kicked David low, then tossed him into the corner, and went right back to work. After a takedown, 'Bad News' hit several stiff kicks, then went for a piledriver as the crowd buzzed, but David Von Erich hit a MASSSSSSIVE BACKBODY DROP to the crowd's delight that was then followed up with a running clothesline that sent Allen to the outside of the ring. Not willing to let Coage rest up on the outside, the 'Yellow Rose of Texas' continued his battle against Coage, and tossed him into the steel barrier between the crowd and the ring, and the ringkeepers table. But, Coage reversed a whip into the corner post, then dropped Von Erich with a GHETTO BLASTER ON THE OUTSIDE! With the ref counting both men on the outside, 'Bad News' rolled inside to stop the count. Then, as the crowd booed, 'Bad News' calmly rolled back outside, and as David slowly got to his feet – NAILED HIM WITH THE GHETTO BLASTER AGAIN! Once again, Coage got back in the ring to break up the count, then as the referee tried to stop him from going outside, pushed him aside and – DRILLED DAVID VON ERICH WITH THE GHETTO BLASTER FOR A THIRD TIME! Finally satisfied, as the crowd booed, Coage rose his hands to the booing crowd, as David Von Erich was counted out, still KO'd on the outside of the ring. Bad News Allen Coage CO David Von Erich – 16' 19” With a smug smile, Coage's hand was raised in victory, then as the cries of the young girls in the audience rose, he headed outside once again. This time, the rest of the Von Erich's rushed to the ringside area, allowing Coage to escape the other way, heading back toward the locker room with his hands raised high, as Lowrance questioned what did this mean for the main event on July 4th? Independence Day Star Wars '83 July 4th, 1983 Tarrant County Convention Center Highlights will air on the next several Saturday Night Wrestling's and editions of World Class Championship Wrestling that will be seen throughout the United States, Israel, and other parts of the world! In his debut, Sivi Afi pinned Ciclon Negro with a diving crossbody in 12:17. In a match that will surely not end their feud, Bugsy McGraw defeated The Mongol ©, but only by countout in 10:36. After the match, both men continued to brawl. In his debut as well, Korstia Korchenko crushed Mike Miller in under two minutes with the Russian Hammer (running forearm). In a hard fought tag match, Norvell Austin & Al Perez defeated Ken Timbs & Rock Riddle after Perez pinned Riddle with a backslide in 13:06 after Austin dropkicked Timbs to the floor in the middle of a pier-six brawl. In a wild match that spilled all over the ringside area and theranted to leave the arena, Bad News Allen Coage pinned Sgt. Slaughter in 18:09 after knocking him into the corner post outside of the ring, then hitting three Ghetto Blasters inside the ring to get the pinfall victory. Before the main event, Kerry & Kevin introduced their replacement for David, who was not allowed to compete by NWA officials...TITO SANTANA! Tito Santana, Kerry, and Kevin Von Erich defeated Big John Studd, Kamala, and The Great Kabuki in 24:11 to win the vacant WCCW World Six-Man Tag Team Titles after Kerry pinned Dragon. Jesse Ewiak Posted July 25, 2015 Author Report Share Posted July 25, 2015 Saturday Night Wrestling Air Date : July 9th, 1983 0:00-0:02 Marc Lowrance opens this special one hour edition of Saturday Night Wrestling and goes over the fact we'll see highlights from the big 4th of July show in Fort Worth, along with news from David Von Erich's doctors about the aftermath of Bad News Allen's vicious attack last week. Lowrance also states we'll talk to the new WCCW World Six-Man Tag Team Champions at the end of this edition of Saturday Night Wrestling. Lowrance then sends it to highlights of the big tag match between Norvell Austin & Al Perez and Rock Riddle & Ken Timbs. 0:02-0:16 Match 1: Al Perez & Norvell Austin vs. Ken Timbs & Rock Riddle ...we start a few minutes into the match with Timbs and Riddle working over Perez in the corner, including both of the Bodacious Blondes hitting a double vertical suplex, then Timbs hitting a kneedrop for a nearfall. Timbs then worked over Perez a little more, and went for the Figure Four, but Perez got Timbs in a small package, then was able to tag in Austin. Norvell came in a house of fire, taking on both men, before tossing Rock Riddle to the outside. Norvell then hit a big slingshot into the corner, and then dropped Timbs with a big back suplex, but on the outside, Riddle reached in and dragged Austin to the outside. However, Austin took out Riddle, but not quick enough for Timbs to roll out and attack Norvell on the outside. Back inside, one half of the Bodacious Blondes then went for the Figure Four inside the ring, but Perez came in and broke up the pin, leading to a brawl between all four men. Finally, Austin dropkicked Timbs to the outside of the ring, and Riddle got backslid by Perez to take the pinfall loss! Al Perez & Norvell Austin d. Ken Timbs & Rock Riddle – 13' 06” (9' 45” shown) After the match, Timbs & Riddle argued with the referee that Riddle wasn't the legal man to no avail, while Austin & Perez celebrated with the fans. Coming back from the highlights, Lowrance was with Ken Timbs & Rock Riddle, who were still unhappy. They threw out a challenge for a rematch against Perez and Norvell, saying that with a real referee, and in a non-rigged match, the Bodacious Blondes would reign supreme and move on to become the new tag champs! 0:16-0:20 Commercials and Local House Show advertisements 0:20-0:36 Coming back from commercial, Lowrance was with Dr. Mark Kay from Parkland Hospital, to go over David Von Erich's condition. Kay stated that David had suffered a severe concussion as a result of numerous blows to the skull, and if it was up to him, David would stay out of action for at least six to eight weeks. He continued that it would be very dangerous for David to get back in the ring before that point. Lowrance thanked Dr. Kay for his time, before throwing it to highlights of the war between Bugsy McGraw and The Mongol. Match 2: The Mongol © vs. Bugsy McGraw Unsurprisingly, this was not a scientific battle. Highlights pick up a few minutes into the match with McGraw fighting out of a nerve hold from The Mongol, before finally hitting several elbows, a body slam, and a huge legdrop for a near fall. McGraw continued on the attack, hitting several more near falls, but every time, The Mongol either barely kicked out or were near the ropes. Frustrated, McGraw ran out of the ring, and went for a running kick in the corner, but The Mongol was ready, and threw him through the ropes. From there, the fight was truly on as both men brawled on the outside, to the ringside barrier, and then, back in the ring. The Mongol got the advantage back thanks to a low knee and a takedown. He then locked on another a nerve hold, which McGraw slowly fought out of again, before sending Mongol into the ropes and hitting a huge backdrop. It looked like McGraw was going to go for the pin, but The Mongol rolled outside. That wasn't going to stop Bugsy though, and the wild man slid out and went right after the TV champ. Gaining the advantage, Bugsy threw Mongol into the ringside barrier, then hit a HUGE SPLASH! Both men were down on the ground, but McGraw slowly got to his feet, and rolled in just before the ten count to gain the victory, but not the TV title. Bugsy McGraw CO The Mongol © – 10' 36” (8' 12” shown) Coming back from the highlights, Lowrance was with Bugsy McGraw, who was congratulated on his victory, but Bugsy immediately shot it down, saying that the only thing that mattered was taking the TV belt out of The Mongol's stinky hands. But, Bugsy said he had good news – next week, right on Saturday Night Wrestling, he was going to get a rematch for the TV title, and there are going to be no countouts or disqualifications! 0:36-0:40 Commercials and Local House Show advertisements 0:40-0:54 Sgt. Slaughter vs. Bad News Brown The highlights start from before the start of the match, with Sgt. Slaughter doing the Pledge of Allegiance and – BAD NEWS ALLEN ATTACKS HIM FROM BEHIND TO MASSIVE HEAT! From there, the massive brawl is on, and the crowd is going nuts. As those who didn't already hate Bad News due to his attack on David Von Erich, they sure hated him by this point. Slaughter was ready for the fight though, and as a result, both men started off the match punching and kicking the crap out of each other right in the middle of the damn ring. However, Coage's dastardly attack allowed him to take the advantage, throw Slaughter in the corner, and hit a big clothesline. Bad News then dragged Slaughter out of the corner, hit several kicks, then took Slaughter down with a roundhouse kick. Coage continued his stomps and kicks, before locking in a hold on the mat, while the crowd chanted 'USA.' The match is cut at this point, and Bad News is going for a piledriver, but Slaughter backdrops Allen, then comes off the ropes and hits a huge running knee. A few big punches, leads to a slam, then a big ole' elbow drop got a near fall. Then, Slaughter went up to the 2nd rope and came off with a big knee drop to a big pop from the Fort Worth crowd, then went to lock on the Cobra Clutch. Unfortunately for Slaughter and America, Bad News was able to hit an eye poke, then hit a few martial art strikes, then finished the series off with a throat thrust that knocked Slaughter down to the ground. Bad News then waited for Slaughter to get up – GHETTO BLASTER! NO! SLAUGHTER DUCKED! Both men slowly got up as the referee counted to ten, and as Bad News got up first, going after Slaughter, but the former drill sergeant, then sent Bad News to the outside through the ropes. Not wasting a moment, Slaughter rolled outside and kicked the hell out of Allen, before sending the former Olympic medalist into the timekeepers table. Slaughter went to slam Coage on the table, but Bad News kicked Slaughter low, and sent him into the ringpost. Slaughter stumbled back – GHETTO BLASTER! Bad News then tossed Slaughter inside, hit a big piledriver just for good measure and got the pinfall win. Bad News Allen Coage p. Sgt. Slaughter – 18' 09” (13' 27” shown) After the match, Coage rolled to the outside, raising his arms in victory, before mockingly chanting 'USA' to some fans at ringside. 0:54-0:56 Commercials and Local House Show advertisements 0:56-0:60 Coming back from commercial, Lowrance said he was proud to bring in the new World Class World Six Man Tag Team Champions – Kerry Von Erich, Kevin Von Erich, & Tito Santana! Lowrance officially welcomed Santana to WCCW. Tito then thanked the fans and said he was proud to come back to his home of Texas to help his good friend The Von Erich's and wrestle in front of the greatest fans in the world. From there, Kevin Von Erich took the mic, said that one way or another, Bad News Allen would get his, but he knew that his brother David was no wimp, and that if Bad News wanted another fight, David would be right there in the ring. Kerry was given the mic, but before he could talk, they were interrupted by Devastation Inc., in the form of Skandor Akbar, Big John Studd, Kamala, & Magic Dragon. Akbar ripped the mic from Kerry, and said that the team was false champions and that Tito Santana shouldn't have even been allowed to wrestle and that at best, the main event should've been a 3-on-2 handicap match if David couldn't wrestle. From there, there was yelling, arguing, and a big brawl for a moment before WCCW officials broke apart both teams, and Lowrance thanked us for watching. COPYRIGHT 1983 – World Class Championship Wrestling LLC WCCW Syndicated TV Air Date : Weekend of July 9th, 1983 Opening going over the big news from the 4th of July show, including Bad News Allen's big win, and the fact there'll be highlights of the six-man main event tonight! Almost all of Sivi Afi's debut win over Ciclon Negro was shown. The end of the Coage/David Von Erich match was shown, then the interview from Saturday Night Wrestling with Dr. Mark Kay The entirety (all 113 seconds of it) of Korstia Korchenko's debt win over Mike Miller was shown. A pre-match promo with Al Perez, where he said he'd be fine with a rematch against the Bodacious Blondes, but the result would be the same! Al Perez p. Rock Riddle in 8:09. After the match, Timbs & Riddle went after Perez, but Austin ran down into the ring to make the big save. Bugsy McGraw had another promo, where he called out Mongol and hyped the no countout and no DQ match for next week. Jesse Ewiak Posted July 27, 2015 Author Report Share Posted July 27, 2015 Saturday Night Wrestling Air Date: July 16th, 1983 (Taped July 11th, 1983) 0:00-0:02 Marc Lowrance opened the show, going over last week's brawl between the WCCW World Six-Man Tag Team champions and Devastation Inc, the big TV title match between Bugsy McGraw & The Mongol later on tonight, and the fact David Von Erich will make his return today in a rematch against Bad News Allen Coage, against doctor's orders. In addition, Lowrance announce that he'll talk to Friz Von Erich later on today to talk about the future of the Texas title, which is currently held up. 0:02-0:12 Gran Markus II & Mike Miller vs. Kamala & The Great Kabuki (w/ Skandor Akbar) Obviously, Kamala & Kabuki are hated by the crowd here, but they still get a healthy amount of respect, especially when Kabuki does a Muta-style mist spit before the match. Right from the start, there's a distinct difference in the match when Markus is in the ring, and when Miller is in the ring. Markus, while at a disadvantage is using lucha holds and various takedowns to slow down both men, but Mike Miller gets absolutely rolled. Especially when in the opening moments, he's stuck along against Kamala. Only after a couple minutes, it looks like Kamala will get a win with an avalanche in the corner, but Markus makes the saves, which allows Kabuki to run in and trade shots with the luchadore. While that is going on, Kamala takes the opening to choke the crap out of Miller before slamming him once again. However, Miller rolls away from a big splash from the Ugandan Giant and is able to tag in Gran Markus II. The luchadore from down under is able to get several shots in on the slower Kamala, including a dandy headscissors. However, as Markus goes up top, Akbar distracts the referee, allowing Kabuki to push Markus off, allowing Kamala to hit the big splash and get the pin. Kamala & The Great Kabuki d. Gran Markus II & Mike Miller – 8' 12” After the match, Lowrance interviewed Akbar, standing with Kamala & Kabuki, who challenged the Six Man Tag Champs for a rematch once again, then turned their attentions to the rest of the heroes of World Class, stating they could stand down or get run over by the new & improved Devastation Inc or in Akbar words, “we aren't trying to be pretty boy rock stars. We're interested in destruction, domination, and devastation!” 0:12-0:16 Commercials and Local House Show Advertisements 0:16-0:24 Coming back from commercials, Lowrance welcomes The Bodacious Blondes (Timbs & Riddle) for an interview. Timbs challenges Austin & Perez again, saying that the 4th of July show was simply a fluke and that every fan here today were looking at future World Tag champions. Lowrance asked the team about the six man later tonight, and Riddle said that they were partnering with a crazy man, but it didn't matter, “cause they'll take a crazy man over a hard headed savage!” Ciclon Negro vs. Korstia Korchenko Lowrance explained away the heel versus heel matchup by pointing out that Korchenko had signed an open contract with WCCW, and that even men that were no strangers to cheating like Ciclon Negro wanted a piece of the Russian. Unfortunately for Negro, Korchenko absolutely ran over Negro, no-selling all of his offense, getting in several big shots, a slam, and then the Russian Hammer (running elbow) to pick up the pinfall! Korstia Korchenko p. Ciclon Negro – 2' 46” After the match, Lowrance went to interview Korchenko, but the big Russian simply put a hand up, and walked away to the backstage area. However, before Lowrance could move on to commercials, who would walk out but Dr. Mark Kay. Kay said that he'd tried to explain to David Von Erich the danger he was in by wrestling today, but David had simply refused to listen to reason, and he was demanding to face Bad News Allen Coage tonight. Unfortunately for Dr. Kay, that got him booed by the partisan crowd. Kay simply shook his head, then headed to the locker room area. 0:24-0:28 Commercial Break and Local House Show Advertisements 0:28-0:46 We come back from commercial to Marc Lowrance ringside with Fritz Von Erich. Fritz thanked the fans for their support, especially after the vicious attack by Bad News Allen Coage against David just a couple of weeks ago. Now, thankfully, according to Fritz, “David was a real man,” and willing to fight tonight, but due to his contract, he had to pay Bad News extra to wrestle tonight, as he wasn't already signed to wrestle. Moving on, Fritz gave an update on the status of the Texas title. It was still held-up, but the WCCW Championship Committee had decided to have an eight-man tournament that will end at the Labor Day Stars War show to determine the new Texas Champion! Al Perez, Norvell Austin, & Sivi Afi vs. The Bodacious Blondes (Timbs & Riddle) & 'Killer' Tim Brooks The beginning of the match was a series of quick tags between all three fan favorites hitting a vicious series of moves on Riddle, ending with Perez hitting a big ole' side suplex for a near fall, only for Brooks to make the save. Riddle used the opening to get Timbs in the ring to go after Perez with a kneebreaker, a suplex, and a long abdominal stretch to weaken the young rising star. But, Perez then hiptossed Timbs out of the hold, then hit a backdrop, then was able to tag in Afi. The Samoan youngster was a house of fire, quickly taking out Timbs, Riddle, and Brooks with a quick series of chops, forearms, and big ole' headbutt on Brooks that knocked the big man to the outside through the ropes. Afi then sent Riddle into the corner and got a near fall off a cross body, but Timbs was able to kick out, then take the advantage with a poke to the eyes, and a cradle. From there, Timbs and Riddle worked over Afi with a series of quick double teams, ending with a big ole' double suplex, and Timbs locking in a half crab! Afi slowly got to the ropes, and got dragged back to the middle of the ring several times, before finally grabbing the middle rope to break the hold. Timbs took his sweet time breaking the hold and nearly got disqualified, but did break the hold. But, when Timbs went to bring Afi to a vertical base, Afi hit a quick headbutt to the shoulder, and sent Timbs into the corner. Norvell Austin was then tagged in, and he came in, hitting a big dropkick, followed by another quick dropkick to get the crowd popping. Unfortunately, Austin got too close to the heel side of the ropes, and Brooks got a cheap shot in. That brought Perez in the ring, and the match quickly deteriorated into a Pier Six brawl. By the end of the brawl, Riddle was standing in the ring, only to get nailed by a top rope flying dropkick from Sivi Afi, which got the pinfall! Sivi Afi, Norvell Austin, & Al Perez d. Riddle, Timbs, & Brooks – 14' 09” After the match, the faces celebrated, while on the outside, The Bodacious Blondes argued with 'Killer' Tim Brooks, blaming him for the loss, despite the fact that Riddle had been the one getting pinned. 0:46-0:50 Commercial Break and Local House Show Advertisements 0:50-0:56 Coming back from commercials, Lowrance announces that they'll have big news next week about the main event of Labor Day Star Wars, including a return of two of the most infamous wrestlers in the history of Texas wrestling. Lowrance also announces that next week, Kevin Von Erich will face Big John Studd in a big main event on Saturday Night Wrestling Lowrance then welcomes once again, Bad News Allen Coage for an interview. Lowrance: Mr. Coage, every fan here saw last week how you viciously managed to slip out of the 4th of July Spectacular with a win over Sgt. Slaughter - Coage: What did you say, Lowrance? Lowrance: I said you slipped out of Fort Worth with a win, Mr. Coage. I mean, how else would you describe how you managed to defeat an American hero like Sgt. Slaughter? Coage: A hero? Is that what you call him? I wonder if the recruits in Paris, South Carolina, mostly poor black and brown men would think of you calling him a hero? I wonder what the thousands of dead Vietnamese would think of you calling him a hero? I wonder what the hundreds of men, who were warmly embraced by a truly compassionate country like Canada, and as a result, who managed to avoid being sent overseas for a pointless war, would think of you calling him a hero? BOOOOOOOOO! Coage: Nobody in a uniform Is a hero, Lowrance! Nobody who gets title shots 'cause of their Daddy is a hero! Only real men such as me, the Ultimate Warrior of professional wrestling, are true heroes! Every dang day, when I wake up, I have to worry about being pulled over by the racist police in this God forsaken state, simply for the color of the skin. Coage: Ya' see, tonight, Marc Lowrance, David Von Erich is going to come down to this ring, and once again, he's going to be laying slumped down in the middle of the ring, dead to the world by the end of the match, and there ain't nothin' you, these redneck fans, his important daddy, or his whimpering brothers can do about it! Lowrance: A very interesting interview from Allen Coage, Bad News by his own description, who will be facing David Von Erich in a big main event later on today on Saturday Night Wrestling! Cut to an NWA Event Center, hosted by Bill Mercer, going over the important events of the week In the National Wrestling Alliance, and also hyping the future appearances of WCCW throughout Texas, including a big show in Dallas in a couple of weeks. 0:56-0:60 Commercial Break 0:60-0:76 The Mongol © vs. Bugsy McGraw – No Countout, No Disqualifications This was not a scientific wrestling battle. In fact, an actual wrestling hold or move was not applied in this match until nearly ten minutes into this - er, battle. After all, what else would you call a brawl that started in the entrance aisle, sprawled down to the ring, went over the ringkeeper's table, then finally got in the ring, with McGraw kicking the crap out of Mongol, and almost getting the pinfall with a simple boot to the face. McGraw continued his assault on the Television champion, but The Mongol went low on Bugsy with a low blow and eye poke, then the Mad Mongolian kicked and chopped the hell out of McGraw, including an Irish whip into the corner, followed up by a big lariat, that made McGraw slump to the floor. Mongol dragged McGraw to the corner, and then hit a double foot stomp for a near fall, which Bugsy nearly kicked out of. The Mongol then locked on a nerve hold, which the big man managed to slowly fight off, elbow out of, then Bugsy hit a HYOOOOOOGE BACKDROP SUPLEX FOR A NEAR FALL! McGraw continued the assault, hitting several more big moves, including a backdrop, a lariat, and a running shoulderblock, but in desperation, The Mongol rolled out of the ring. However, McGraw chased The Mongol to the outside, only for the TV Champion to drill Mongol with a hard elbow, then a running big boot, which sent McGraw sprawling into the entrance aisle. McGraw slowly got up, and The Mongol rushed in for a bulldog, but Bugsy got out of the way and The Mongol crashed to the concrete floor. Bugsy rose up and was getting the cheers from the crowd when – KILLER TIM BROOKS CAME OUT OF NOWHERE AND WALLOPED MCGRAW WITH A CHAIR! The Mongol slowly got up, rolled McGraw in the ring, then hit a running legdrop to get the pinfall and retain the title! The Mongol © p. Bugsy McGraw – 14' 17” After the match, Brooks helped Mongol up, and the two monsters headed toward the locker room while Lowrance questioned why 'Killer' Tim Brooks had helped The Mongol keep the Television title? 0:76-0:80 Commercial Break and Local House Show Advertisements 0:80-0:90 David Von Erich vs. Bad News Allen Coage As you'd expect, 'The Yellow Rose' was a house of fire, right from the start, but even the most starry eyed fan would notice that David was a little more hesitant, and a little more deliberate than normal, taking his time to hit even the most basic of moves. However, after only a few minutes, Coage slipped out of a suplex, ducked under a lariat attempt and – IN FULL VIEW OF THE REF, TOOK A SLAPJACK OUT AND DRILLED DAVID VON ERICH WITH IT! David Von Erich DQ Bad News Allen Coage – 2' 47” As the referee called for the bell, the entirety of Devastation Inc. came too the ring, while Bad News slid out. As the evil stable headed down, Akbar tossed a yellow envelope to Coage, who caught it, and then opened up the envelope, showing an obvious stack of cash while heading to the locker room. David slowly got up, but he was able to fight off the entirety of Devastation Inc. one-by-one, but quickly got overwhelmed as they teamed up on the scion of the Von Erich family. After a vicious assault, Kabuki spit mist right into Von Erich's eyes. Finally, Kerry & Kevin headed down to ringside, but Studd, Akbar, and Kamala all stood at the ropes, keeping the Von Erich boys from getting in the ring. Kabuki took Studd's spot, as Big John Studd took Von Erich, stomped a few more times, then picked him up, and slammed David viciously down to the mat. Then, taking Kamala's spot, Studd continued to kick and push the Von Erich's away from getting in the ring, as Kamala slowly climbed to the top rope – TOP ROPE SPLASH BY KAMALA! TOP ROPE SPLASH BY KAMALA ON DAVID VON ERICH! At this point, WCCW officials, referees, and the Von Erich's overwhelmed the ring while Devastation Inc. got the hell out of Dodge. The fans booed the heels, but quickly got quiet as the medics came to the ring. While Lowrance explained that it was impossible for anybody to take a top rope splash from a monster from Uganda without suffering an injury. As the show ended, the camera was focused on David being loaded on a stretcher. Jesse Ewiak Posted July 29, 2015 Author Report Share Posted July 29, 2015 Saturday Night Wrestling Air Date: July 23rd, 1983 (Taped July 18th, 1983) 0:00-0:04 Lowrance opened the show with clips from the Devastation Inc. attack at the end of last weeks show, highlighting the fact that it's unlikely we won't see David Von Erich in a World Class ring “for a long, long time” and if anybody says they've got David wrestling for them, “you may want to question the truth of their statements.” Moving on, Lowrance begins to promote the Von Erich's first chance for revenge tonight, when Kevin takes on Big John Studd, but he's interrupted by Bugsy McGraw. As you'd expect, McGraw is pissed off and full of vinegar, saying he was suckered in by The Mongol last week, and that if he had to walk over coals, climb a mountain, or kiss his cousin, he was going to get in the ring with both The Mongol and 'Killer' Tim Brooks and kick their keister from one end of Texas to the other! From there, McGraw stumbled off, and Lowrance threw it to the ring. 0:04-0:14 Al Perez (w/ Norvell Austin) vs. Ciclon Negro Austin joins Lowrance for commentary, and largely bashes the Bodacious Blondes, along with putting over the idea that they're the hottest team in wrestling. Of course, they're also a team without a name, but what can you do. In the ring, there's some early mat wrestling, with a little lucha wackiness thrown in, including a few holds that neither Norvell nor Lowrance know. Negro even gets a two count off a La Majistral, but Perez quickly takes Ciclon down with a fireman's carry, then locks in a deep headlock on the mat. Ciclon quickly fights out of it, and sends Perez to the corner – MONKEY FLIP! Negro hits a big dropkick, another hiptoss, then sends Perez to the outside, and goes for a dive, but Perez moves out of the way, and Negro eats the mat. After taking a moment to recover, Perez throws the luchadore in the ring, hits a big bodyslam, then an Airplane Spin to the get the pinfall victory! Al Perez p. Ciclon Negro – 8' 23” After the match, Norvell grabs the mic and makes an open challenge for next week to the cheers of the crowd. 0:14-0:18 Commercials and Local House Show Advertisements 0:18-0:30 Bobby Duncum vs. Kamala (w/ Skandor Akbar) Coming back from commercial, Duncum is already in the ring while Lowrance explains that Duncum is a hardened veteran who has seen it all in the wrestling ring, so he won't back down against his opponent – The Ugandan Giant. Right from the bell, Duncum shows his fire, hitting punches, kicks, and even a big elbow, but Kamala largely absorbs the blows and tosses Duncum into the corner and crushes him with an avalanche. Duncum stumbles out, and it looks like Kamala is going to hit a big slam, but the cowboy is able to deadweight himself and make it too difficult for The Ugandan Giant to get Duncum right up. This gives Bobby a moment to take a breather, and he uses it to actually take Kamala down with a quick trip/drop toe hold, and try to lock in an armbar type hold. But, Kamala easily powers out, and on the defensive, Duncum throws a desperation big boot which glances the mysterious savage. With a head of steam, Duncum rushes toward Kamala with a lariat, but the Ugandan Giant ducks under, catches Duncum with a powerslam on the back end – BIG SPLASH BY KAMALA! IT'S OVER! Kamala p. Bobby Duncum – 6' 33” With the crowd booing, Kamala is heading out of the ring, when Akbar points to the top rope. The big man nods, and the crowd's fury only gets louder, as Lowrance is yelling that somebody needs to stop this. Kamala is almost to the top rope when Norvell Austin & Al Perez run out to ringside, blocking Kamala from jumping on the fallen cowboy. It looks like Kamala is going to jump on both men, but Akbar waves him off. Various World Class officials help Duncum to the back, while Perez & Austin help, as Lowrance unfortunately has to welcome Akbar w/ Kamala to the ringside area. Akbar questions Lowrance why Perez & Austin snuck their nose in business that isn't theirs, and said, that they'd pay for getting involved in Devastation Inc. business. Akbar continued on, saying that, “those pesky pups Perez and Austin should look at what happens to big brother Kevin tonight at the hands of Big John Studd in the main event tonight, before they decide to jump in and save Old Yeller once again.” After hyping the big six man main event in Dallas and challenging the left over Von Erich's and Tito to singles matches, Akbar leaves, but not before reminding World Class fans that, “we already took out one Von Erich. Tonight, another one bites the dust!” 0:30-0:34 Commercials and Local House Show Advertisements 0:34-0:48 The Mongol © vs. Tito Santana Big match for Tito in his singles debut, and he looks deadly serious while he's slapping hands on his way to the ring. On the other end of the spectrum, The Mongol is psyching himself up, slapping himself in the face, while going to the ring. As the bell rings, both competitors circle each other, wary of their respective skills. Santana dives in first for a lock-up, but Mongol overpowers him, throwing him into the corner. Tito comes right back, with another lock-up, but the TV champ throws the challenger hard to the ground, then kicks the crap out of Santana for a moment, before Tito gets to the ropes, and the referee gives Mongol a five count. The big man barely breaks and steps away, but that's just enough time for Santana to avoid The Mongol's next assault. Tito gets to his feet, hits a few chops, then a hiptoss, and a dropkick to unsteady Mongol, and then goes for a sunset flip that gets a two count before the champion powers out. Santana immediately takes The Mongol down again, and locks in a deep hammerlock. After a moment, Mongol reverses it, then bashes Tito with a forearm, then the Television champion hits a hanging suplex for a near fall! Mongol comes off the ropes with a big kneedrop, but Santana rolls away, and slowly gets to his feet. The Mongol rushes Tito, but Santana dives out of the way, allowing Mongol to hit the corner, allowing Tito Santana to hit a Victory Roll for a very close two count, but The Mongol has a strong kick out. A quick slam by The Mongol, and then the champion locks in a nerve hold. Santana slowly fights out of it, as the crowd chants and stomps their feet, while the former Texan football standout slowly gets to his knees, then fights out of the hold, comes off the ropes and drills The Mongol with a big dropkick, followed by another one, then Tito sends the TV champion to the ropes – FLYING FOREARM! ONE! TWO! THREE! NEW TV CHAMP! Tito Santana p. The Mongol © – 9' 45” - New Television Champion Santana raises his arms in celebration to a big pop from the World Class audience, and is handed the Tv title to raise. The Mongol looks like he is going to attack the new champion, but decides it's another fight for another day, so he rolls out of the ring. Lowrance immediately beings Santana over for an interview and a jubilant new TV champion displays the belt to the fans, thanks them for their support, calls out Devastation Inc. for a match anytime, yells 'ARRIBA', then leaves to more cheers from the crowd here in Fort Worth. 0:48-0:52 Commercials and Local House Show Advertisments 0:52-0:60 Coming back from commercial, Lowrance with with Kerry & Kevin Von Erich. After confirming the fact that it looks like David will be out of action for a very long time and congratulating Tito on his TV title victory, the Von Erich's call out the entirety of Devastation Inc., saying that one way or another, they'll get their revenge on them – one way or another, whether it's tonight, next week, or down the road. However, it's going to start tonight, when Kevin takes out Big John Studd and in Dallas, when they keep the Six-Man tag belts. Kerry Von Erich (w/ Kevin Von Erich) vs. Rock Riddle (w/ Ken Timbs) Right from the bell, Riddle is desperate, trying to jump Von Erich before the bell, but unfortunately, Kerry is ready for Riddle, and the young Von Erich proceeds to kick the crap out of Riddle, throwing him from pillar to post, and even hitting a big lariat early for a near fall. Timbs jumps up on the ring apron, distracting the referee, and that allows Riddle to get a blatant low blow in on Kerry, and take him back down to the mat. Kevin pulls Timbs off the apron, and sends him to the ringside barrier, but Riddle has Kerry locked in a sleeper. The referee drops Kerry's hand once, then twice, but on the third drop, Kerry fights out of it with elbows and strength, before sending Rock Riddle to the ropes and drilling him with a big boot. Riddle slowly gets up, and walks right into The Von Erich Claw! Kerry Von Erich SUB Rock Riddle – 5' 46” Both Von Erich brothers celebrate, while Timbs & Riddle are upset on the outside, pointing at both Von Erich's, before stomping off. But, not before yelling at Lowrance that The Bodacious Blondes will return and get payback on The Von Erich's! 0:60-0:62 Commercials 0:62-0:70 A reworked highlight video of Korstia Korchenko, with additional video of Korchenko dominating his opponents so far in World Class plays, along with various Soviet propaganda. From there, we get a WCCW Event Center, with more highlights of the past week in the NWA, and more promotion for the Dallas house show in a few weeks. There's also a quick promo highlight of the end of the angle from last week, highlighting Bad News getting the envelope of cash, the big splash, and David being carried out on a stretcher. 0:70-0:74 Commercials and Local House Show Advertisements 0:74-0:90 Kevin Von Erich vs. Big John Studd (w/ Skandor Akbar) Von Erich and Studd circle each other in the ring, but in the lock up, Studd easily overpowers the elder Von Erich, even though the big man has to fight for it. After a few more lock ups and a few more overpowering moments form Studd, he sends Kevin into the corner, then comes in with a big lariat to smash Kevin. Out of the corner, Studd hits a big headbutt, and locks in Kevin for a suplex, but Von Erich blocks the attempt once – then again – so Studd says screw it and drills Kevin with several forearms that drop Von Erich to the mat. As the fans boo, Studd grabs Kevin's limp body, putting his arms around his waist, and locks in a big bearhug, right in the middle of the World Class ring. In pain, Kevin Von Erich screams, and reaches out his arms to the fans, as the big man locks in the bearhug even tighter. Von Erich tries to punch and kicks his way out of it to no avail, as Studd leans down, bringing down his center of gravity, making it even more difficult for Von Erich to get out of the hold. Ever so slowly, Kevin rises up, getting back to his feet, using his strength to power to a vertical base, before elbowing out of the bear hug, and as a house of fire, Von Erich goes on the attack with forearms, kicks, elbows, and a big shoulderblock to knock Studd down to the ground. Von Erich waits for Studd to get up, and goes for the Von Erich Claw, but Studd is still too strong, and powers out of it, before hitting a big slam, then Studd goes off the ropes – SPLASH! NO! VON ERICH GETS HIS KNEES UP! Both men are down on the mat, while the referee counts to ten. As the count gets closer to double digits, Kevin slowly gets to his knees, using the ropes for leverage. As Studd starts to get up, Von Erich walks over, but Akbar gets up on the ring apron. Kevin Von Erich goes over to knock Akbar off the apron, but that gives Studd the opening to drill him from behind to a big round of boos from the audience. Studd hits another long bodyslam on Von Erich, then picks him to lock him the Reverse Bearhug, but Von Erich in a desperate move, grabs the ropes. While the fans cheer, Studd goes to drill Kevin, but Von Erich is able to stun Studd with an elbow, which knocks Studd just loopy enough to lock on the Von Erich Claw! With nowhere to go, Studd is about to submit in the middle of the ring, when Kamala runs in and causes the DQ! Kevin Von Erich DQ Big John Studd – 13' 44” It looks like Studd & Kamala are going to destroy Kevin, just like David, but right away, Tito and Kerry rush to the ring, fighting off the big men. After a few moments of brawling between all four men, we have an old fashioned stand-off as this episode of Saturday Night Wrestling ends. Akbar had a promo w/ Kabuki, explaining that he and Bad News had a mutually beneficial relationship, but Coage wasn't part of Devastation Inc. - The Greak Kabuki pinned Mike Miller in 6:03 - Korstia Korchenko ran over Gran Markus II in 3:49 - Korstia denied another interview, but 'Killer' Tim Brooks was happy to get interviewed about the destruction he was about to cause to Bugsy McGraw. - Bugsy McGraw and 'Killer' Tim Brooks fought to a double countout in 9:43 - After the match, both men continued to brawl, before The Mongol came out to continue the assault on McGraw. However, of all people, Mike Miller came out to attempt to save Bugsy, but was beaten down as well. - Before the main event, the Boadacious Blondes were interviewed, and they called out Austin & Perez, and even the Von Erich's, while running down all of the 'barely average' tag teams in the rest of the wrestling world like The Fantastics and Rock 'n' Roll Express. - Bad News Allen Coage pinned Norvell Austin in 11:34 after the Ghetto Blaster. - After the main event, Coage had an interview calling out the Von Erich's, and everybody else in World Class, while avoiding talk about why he accepted the cash from Akbar. Lowrance puts over Tito Santana's TV title win last week, and that in tonight's main event, he'll be defending the title for the first time against a member of Devastation Inc. - The Great Kabuki! He also hypes that Kamala & Big John Studd will be in action as a tag team tonight against Norvell Austin & Al Perez, and that both Bad News Allen and Sivi Afi will be in action later. 0:02-0:18 Bugsy McGraw, Bobby Duncum, & Mike Miller vs. Tim Brooks, The Mongol, & Ciclon Negro As both teams come to the ring, Lowrance goes over recent actions on both ends, including Tim Brooks saving The Mongol's TV title a few weeks ago, Mike Miller making the save for Bugsy McGraw recently, and the return of Bobby Duncum to the area. In the ring, Miller and Negro open things up by actually wrestling. We get a few hammerlocks, headlocks, reversals, a headscissor takedown, and a few armdrags from both end. Miller gets the slight advantage by taking Negro down with a deep headlock, then transitioning into a crossface-type hold. Negro quickly gets to the ropes though, then gets a few shots in on Miller, before taking the young wrestlers down and locking in a hold of his own, before typing in Tim Brooks. 'Killer' comes in, and immediately goes to work on Miller, hitting several big kicks, before following up with a whip into the corner and a huge elbow, knocking Miller down to the ground. Some more stomps follow, and Brooks goes for a big knee drop, only for Miller to roll out of the way! Mike manages to tag in Bugsy McGraw who comes in like a crazy man, attacking Tim Brooks with forearms, punches, and kicks, pushing him into the corner. Then, Bugsy, being Bugsy, turns around and throws a big right hand at The Mongol, knocking him down to the floor. Of course, that means The Mongol gets in the ring after a moment, attacking McGraw, but Bugsy actually fights off both men for a moment, before getting overwhelmed. That means Bobby Duncum and Mike Miller comes in the ring, and we've got a pier six brawl out of nowhere. All six men go after each other, with things spilling outside almost right away, with the referee trying to keep some semblance of order. In the actual squared circle, McGraw and Mongol are trading shots, but Mongol gets the advantage with a low blow and an eye poke, then the former Television champion hits a big slam and a legdrop for a near fall. However, he quickly gets pulled out of the ring by Bobby Duncum, who throws The Mongol into the ringside barrier, then drills him with a big ole' boot on the outside. In the ring, McGraw and Brooks are actually both in the ring, and as the fans cheer, Bugsy grabs Brooks – VERTICAL SUPLEX! McGraw plays to the crowd, and goes off the rope – NO! NEGRO DRILLS HIM IN THE BACK WITH A KICK! McGraw turns around to nail Negro, and that allows Brooks to get something out of his tights while the referee tries to get Negro off the ringside apron and to his corner – BROOKS NAILS MCGRAW WITH THE KNUX! ONE! TWO! THREE! Killer Tim Brooks, The Mongol, & Ciclon Negro d. Bugsy McGraw, Bobby Duncum, & Mike Miller – 12' 33” The heels celebrate after the match in the entrance aisle, while both Duncum & Miller help McGraw get up, and explain to him what happen. Bugsy pushes the referee into the corner, before Duncum and Miller drag McGraw out of the ring. As Lowrance tries to throw it to commercial, he gets interrupted by McGraw, Duncum, and Miller, who are as happy as you'd expect. Miller & Duncum challenge Brooks & Mongol for a tag match, saying they're lying, cheating dogs while McGraw rants and raves, saying he's going to destroy 'em all, before Lowrance finally gets control, thanks the six man team for their time, and throws it to the commercial break. 0:18-0:22 Commercials and Local House Show Advertisements 0:22-0:32 Gran Markus II vs. Bad News Allen Bad News is all business tonight, not even really trash talking as he comes to the ring. In the ring, Markus tries to use his lucha style, but Allen uses a bit of judo and some martial art kicks to toss and throw Gran Markus all over the ring and into the corner. Allen goes for a big belly-to-belly, but Markus finally gets a few shots in with a couple of elbows, a hiptoss, and a dropkick. Allen kicks out of the pinfall attempt though, nails Gran Markus with a big knee to the chest, sends him to the corner, knocks the hell out of him some more and then finishes the luchadore off with a Ghetto Blaster for the pinfall win! Bad News Allen p. Gran Markus II – 5' 53” Lowrance: At this time, I'd like to welcome Bad News Allen Coage, who has proven to be a very controversial competitor here in World Class Championship Wrestling, right from his debut. Coage: Controversial? Why, Marc Lowrance? Because I speak the truth. Because I point out to all these rednecks, fake cowboys, and good for nothin' Uncle Tom's the false gods they worship? Because I've proven to be the greatest wrestler in this area right from Day One, without a shadow of a doubt? Lowrance: Well, Mister Coage, you've been very impressive so far here since you've entered the promotion, but one could say it's been built on less than savory tactics. Coage: Oh, I haven't been a good little boy? Sure, Fritz's boys can do whatever they want. Wreck the place. Brawl all over. Interfere in matches. Heck, you don't even mind so much when the fake glamor boys clad in Confederate flags get all rowdy. But, one black man stands up for himself and every single person in the audience act like I kissed their Mama – and believe me, your Mama would like it! BOO! Coage: Oh, believe me, they love some black sugar. Lowrance: Mr. Coage, please. Now, you're going to be involved in the tournament for the Texas Title. Lowrance: - and members of Devastation Inc., do you have any worries if you have to face off against somebody like Kamala or Big John Studd? Coage: You don't get it, Marc Lowrance. I am the ultimate warrior of professional wrestling. I don't care about who gets cheered, who gets booed, who the fickle little fans love for the moment. I want competition. Whether it's privileged Von Erich's, giant men, or outside competition, I will face off against all of them and take them all out – one by one. You know why, Marc Lowrance? Lowrance: I suppose you'll tell me, Mr. Coage. Coage: Be respectful. The reason why is simple – I'm the Baddest Thing Runnin' in World Class wrestling and by the end of this tournament, I will be the Texas Heavyweight Champion and for once, it'll be a champion that Texas can be proud of! BOO! 0:32-0:36 Commercials and Local House Show Advertisements 0:36-0:50 Coming back from commercial, Lowrance puts over the big TV title main even tonight, before welcoming the entirety of Devastation Inc. to the ringside area. Kabuki spits some mist in the air to boos from the crowd while Akbar explains that tonight, Tito's lucky streak since coming to World Class ends as Kabuki will once again become the TV champion. Next up, Studd actually gets some time to talk, challenging the Von Erich's, officially stating he'll be in the Texas title tournament, and then going after Norvell and Perez, stating, “you've been playing with minnows boys, now you're dealing with the great white sharks of this business!” Akbar finishes off the promo, saying once again World Class will see the greatest wrestlers in this business in action next, and what will happen is “destruction, domination, and devastation!” Al Perez & Norvell Austin vs. Big John Studd & Kamala w/ Skandor Akbar Akbar and Studd are both yelling at the babyface team as they come to the ring, pretending like it's going to be an easy day of work, while Lowrance puts over Perez and Austin as a rising team in World Class. Starting off, Studd goes after Perez, but the young scientific wrestler avoids the big man, using some stick 'n' move action on Studd, before hitting the 350 pounder with a quick series of chops, forearms, and dropkick to the waist, knocking the big man back to the corner. Finally locking up, Perez gets a big pop from the Fort Worth crowd, actually hip tossing Studd, then locking Big John in a hammerlock, then a headlock. Unfortunately for Perez, Studd powers out of the hold, then slams Perez down to the cold unforgiving mat. Studd waists for Perez to get up, then gets him in a lockup, then locks in the bear hug to boos. Studd truly wrenches in the hold, bringing Perez high up, and causing the young wrestler to scream out in pain, while the crowd stomps their feet and cheers for him. Perez tries to get out of the hold with elbows, forearms, and even a headbutt, that doesn't really loosen the hold. It does though, make Studd back into the ropes, while trying to reapply a firm hold on Perez, so the big man from Pennsylvania have to break the hold, even though he waits until the five count is nearly over to do so. Getting out of the hold doesn't mean Perez is fully recovered, so he moves slowly standing back up, before walking into a headbutt from Studd which knocks Perez down to the mat. Studd comes off the ropes for an elbowdrop, but Perez manages to barely roll out of the way and both men are flat on the mat in the middle of the ring. Perez drags himself over and tags Norvell in as Studd tries to reach out for a tag to Kamala while holding on to the ropes, who seems to be out of position. Norvell comes in a house of fire, nailing Studd with chops, kicks, and forearms, before sending him to the ropes and causing Studd to stumble with a flying shoulderblock. Norvell then came out of the corner again, knocking Studd into the corner with a dropkick. Austin scaled the ropes in the corner, drilling Studd with left hand after left hand, as the crowd cheered and counted along. After ten, Studd simply walked out of the corner and collapsed. Knowing the moment was at hand, Austin scrambled up to the top rope and was about to dive on to Studd when Akbar got up on the ring apron, yelling at the referee about something or other. Norvell got off the top, and headed for Akbar, only for Studd to nail Austin from behind and lock him in the dreaded Reverse Bearhug! But, to the cheers of the crowd, Austin wildly grabbed the ropes before getting completely locked in the hold, which meant that Studd had to break the bearhug, which he did by dropping Norvell straight to the mat with a thud. The cheers of Norvell's breakage of the hold quickly turned to boos as for the first time in the match, Kamala was tagged in. The Ugandan Giant went right after Austin, stomping and kicking at the veteran wrestler, before picking him up and hitting a thrust to the throat and an elbowdrop for a near fall. As Kamala went to pick Austin again, he took a moment longer than most wrestlers would, owing to the Ugandan Giant's relative inexperience in the squared circle, which allowed Austin a moment to slip out, hit a quick dropkick to Kamala's back, roll over, and tag in Al Perez! The fiery fan favorite rushed in the ring, hitting a few quick forearms, kicks, and then sent Kamala into the ropes with an Irish whip, but unfortunately for Perez, the laws of momentum still work even in Fort Worth, and the big man from the dark continent ran right over Al as he went for a big flying lariat. A moment later, Kamala had hit a body slam and a big splash, and it was all over. Kamala & Big John Studd d. Al Perez & Norvell Austin – 10' 03” Kamala & Studd celebrate with Akbar in the ring, as Lowrance puts over the big six-man title match at the Dallas house show in just a few days. 0:50-0:54 Commercials and Local House Show Advertisements 0:54-0:68 Coming back from commercial, Lowarance was standing by the Bodacious Blondes, who continue to be very unhappy about the lack of respect they've gotten from the World Class audience, Fritz Von Erich, NWA officials, and most importantly, 'lowlifes' like Norvell Austin, Sivi Afi, and of course, Al Perez. After claiming once again that they're wrestling's next great tag team, Timbs say they're going to show it off right now when Riddle takes Sivi Afi apart! Sivi Afi vs. Rock Riddle (w/ Ken Timbs) Still jawing with the fans after their interview, Riddle & Timbs were caught unaware by Afi right from the start, who absolutely drilled Timbs with a dropkick that sent him sprawling to the outside. Then, Afi followed that up with a quick series of hiptosses and a monkey flip on Riddle, before ending it with a headscissors takedown and a clothesline for a two count. Afi then took Riddle to the mat and was going for a suplex, but Riddle stopped Afi’s momentum with a low blow, then hit a big kneebreaker to take Afi down. Riddle went right to work on offense, with stomps and kicks to Afi in the corner, while Timbs yelled at Afi after recovering from the big dropkick. Riddle then brought Afi to a vertical base, hit Sivi with a kick to the midsection, and nailed Afi down with a big butterfly suplex for a two count. Riddle sent Afi into the corner, and ran in with a clothesline, but the Samoan got out of the way and ate nothing but the turnbuckle. Stumbling around, Riddle then walked right into a running crossbody, then Afi hit Riddle with a body slam and went up top – FLYING DROPKICK! ONE! TWO! TIMBS PUT RIDDLE’S FOOT ON THE ROPES! With the count broken, Afi went after Timbs on the ring apron, which allowed Riddle to come from behind and nail Sivi with a few forearms. Unfortunately for Riddle though, he then went for a headbutt. Bad idea against a Samoan, as Afi grabbed Riddle and Timbs, bonked their heads together, then Sivi came out of the corner with a cross body block to pick up the pinfall win. Sivi Afi p. Rock Riddle – 5’ 43” Sivi Afi rolled out of the ring, slapping hands with the friends, while the Bodacious Blondes were not pleased with the referee, pushing him around for a moment, before kicking the ropes and also heading to the back. Lowrance then welcome the new WCCW TV champion, Tito Santana, to the ringside area. After congratulating Tito on his victory last week, Tito thanked the fans, Fritz Von Erich, and the entire NWA for the opportunity. He then said that tonight was going to be a great preview of the big six-man tag title match in Dallas in just a few days, but that it wasn't going to be easy. That Great Kabuki was a great and dangerous wrestler, but with the fans support, he could continue to be a great TV champion for them! 0:68-0:72 Commercials and Local House Show Advertisments 0:72-0:90 Tito Santana © vs. The Great Kabuki (w/ Skandor Akbar) As the bell rang, Lowrance reminded fans that the Von Erich’s, along with Tito would be making their first big defense of the Six-Man titles at the big house show in Dallas, and that even though Kevin and Kerry were busy in Georgia, they were cheering on Tito from the road. In the ring, both Tito and Kabuki largely felt each out the first few moments of the match, circling the ring, going for lock ups and takedowns, but both men either avoiding or blocking the attempts. Santana drew first blood in a way, by taking Kabuki down with a drop toe hold, then maneuvering to a leg grapevine, and then adjusting the hold into a modified half crab. Kabuki powered out of the hold, then went for a throat thrust, only for Santana to avoid the move, and hit a hiptoss, followed by a big dropkick which sent Kabuki into the corner. Santana went over and ascended the ring ropes, nailing Kabuki with ten punches as the crowd counted along, ending with a one last big right hand and a monkey flip which sent Kabuki in the middle of the ring. Santana then ran out from the corner – RUNNING CROSS BODY! ONE! TWO! KICKOUT BY KABUKI! Santana went to bring Kabuki up to a vertical base, but the wily Japanese veteran poked the TV champ in the eyes, then immediately locked on a nerve hold, with a few extra kicks in the back for good measure. Santana fought back to power out of the hold, but Kabuki hit another kick in the back, then hit Santana with a snap mare, followed by a big running dropkick to a sitting Santana. With Santana out on the ground, Kabuki went to work with a series of quick elbowdrops and legdrops, then came off the ropes, and nailed Santana with a massive kneedrop which got a two count as well. As Santana slowly got up, Kabuki stalked his prey – THROAT THRUST! Santana held his throat, falling to his knees – THRUST KICK BY KABUKI! ONE! TWO! THRE – SANTANA GETS HIS FOOT ON THE ROPES AT THE LAST SECOND! As you’d expect, Akbar was not happy with this series of events, and immediately got on the ring apron, yelling at the referee. As the referee went over to assuage Akbar’s concerns, the innovator of the poison mist continued his assault on the former West Texas football star, going after Tito with more stomps, kicks, all while throwing in some cheap eye pokes and eye rakes with the referee still being bothered by Akbar. Kabuki then grabbed Santana by the scruff of his neck, locking him in a front facelock, and went for a suplex – Santana blocks it! Kabuki goes for it again, and once again, Santana blocks the maneuver – FLASH CRADLE! The referee isn’t around, but finally turns around as Kabuki kicks out of the hold. Now, Tito is a house of fire, nailing Kabuki with punches and forearms, before sending him into the ropes and taking Kabuki down to the mat with a huge backdrop, the a kneelift, and a big ole’ flying clothesline for a big near fall. Santana gets back up, and goes off the far ropes once again, but Akbar grabbed his ankle! Santana turned to yell at Akbar, which allowed Kabuki to come from behind with a running knee that knocked Santana down to the mat. Kabuki then dragged Santana to the corner, and began another assault on the TV champ, and it looked like Kabuki was lining up for the Thrust Kick, but Santana moved out of the way, making Kabuki go off balance, allowing Santana to come in with a big headscissors takedown, then Tito went on offense with a hip tosses, arm drags, a big body slam, then a big suplex to the cheers of the Fort Worth crowd. Now Tito sends Kabuki into the ropes – FLYING FOREARM! NO! KABUKI MISTED SANTANA RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE REF! Tito Santana © d. The Great Kabuki by DQ – 14’ 40” Santana’s on his knees in the middle of the ring, and Kabuki is kicking the hell out of the room while the fans boo, and Akbar is signaling – here comes Kamala and Big John Studd. Studd and Kamala go right to work on the TV champion, but Tito is still fighting, throwing a right hand, a chop, a quick series of kicks, and even a running elbow that knocks Akbar out of the ring, but the numbers games is beginning to work in the favor of Devastation Inc. Studd grabs Santana and drops him to the mat with a big body slam. Santana slowly gets up again – THRUST KICK KNOCKS SANTANA BACK TO THE MAT! Now, Kamala is getting ready – NO! AL PEREZ, SIVI AFI, AND NORVELL AUSTIN ARE RUSHING TO THE RING! Devastation Inc. is fleeing before they have to fight a fair fight, and the Fort Worth crowd is cheering as Santana gets helped to his feet and raises the TV title! WCCW Syndicated TV Air Date: Weekend of July 30th, 1983 (Taped July 15th, 1983) - Ken Timbs pinned Gran Markus II at 7:57 after a low blow and cradle when the referee was distracted by Rock Riddle. After the match, the Bodacious Blondes continued the assault on Markus until Bobby Duncum made the save. - Korstia Korchenko had another propaganda video, stating that his mission to destroy America was only beginning. - Before his match, Bugsy McGraw cut a promo on Bad News Allen, promising him an old-fashioned Texas whippin'! - Bad News Allen pinned Bugsy McGraw in 9:43 after the Ghetto Blaster, thanks to a distraction from Tim Brooks. Before that, the match was fairly even with Bugsy's unorthodox brawling managing to keep Bad News in check. - Various NWA highlights were shown, including Bruiser Brody, Harley Race, and Iceman Parsons in action. - The heel group of Brooks, Mongol, and Negro had a promo about tonight's main event, claiming they'd be the one to turn back the challenge of the Von Erich's and Tito Santana. Bobby Duncum pinned Rock Riddle in 5:05 after a lariat. After the match, it looked like the Bodacious Blondes would walk away but instead they went after Duncum and attacked him for a few minutes, including a big double suplex, until Mike Miller made the save! - Kerry and Kevin Von Erich along with Tito Santana defended their WCCW Six-Man Tag Titles, defeating Tim Brooks, The Mongol, and Ciclon Negro by DQ in 11:19 when The Mongol brought a chair in the ring, chasing after all three fan favorites. You've done some really strong work in building up Bad News Allen. I'm still mad at you for swiping Tito Santana but I'll probably have more fun building up El Gran Apollo since it forces me to get way more creative than I would have with Tito. Santana and Allen fit right into the Von Erich, Kabuki, and Kamala world. I appreciate the long match writeups too. Jesse Ewiak Posted August 22, 2015 Author Report Share Posted August 22, 2015 Saturday Night Wrestling Air Date: August 6th, 1983 (Taped August 1st, 1983) 0:00 – 0:06 Lowrance started off another edition of Saturday Night Wrestling by going over the action tonight, including a big main event with Kevin Von Erich taking on The Great Kabuki in a non-title match, plugging the fact we'll see highlights of the big Dallas show next week here on Saturday Night Wrestling, and then welcomed Fritz Von Erich to the ringside area for several big announcements. After thanking Fritz for his time, both men went over the big news. First of all, Fritz announced that at the big Labor Day Star Wars, WCCW was happy to welcome back Bruiser Brody to team with Kerry Von Erich to defend the WCCW Texas Tag Titles against two men that Fritz was very happy had to come back to World Class, “thanks to the fine folks in Georgia,” none other than Michael Hayes and Buddy Roberts! The crowd cheered that announcement, and Fritz noted that even if they couldn't get the whipping they deserved from all the Von Erich's, at least Kerry would be able to get a few shots in for the family. Next up, Fritz announced that there would be a tournament to decide a new WCCW Texas champion, and was happy to announce that several rising stars and legends from all over the country would be competing, along with WCCW stars. At that point, a graphic came up with the tournament graphics. Kevin Von Erich Spike Huber Big John Studd Iceman Parsons Bad News Allen Bobby Fulton Al Perez Butcher Vachon Lowrance expressed surprise that Kevin would be competing in the tourney, considering he was already the American champion. Fritz explained that Kevin had come to him personally and asked for this opportunity to become the first man to hold both belts. Since Kerry would be wrestling for the tag titles, and most contenders for the American title already in the tournament, Fritz agreed! Lowrance thanked Friz for his time, expressed his opinion that the Texas title tournament would be a dandy thing, full of big matches that you'd only be able to see on Saturday Night Wrestling. 0:06-0:10 Commercials and Local House Show Advertisements 0:10-0:24 Bobby Duncum vs. Ken Timbs w/ Rock Riddle Duncum was a house of fire from the beginning, going after one half of the Bodacious Blondes, but unfortunately for the big Texan, Timbs simply slid out of the ring. Ignoring the booing fans, Timbs conferred with Rock Riddle on the outside of the ring while Duncum yelled at the duo. After a moment, and the ref's count getting higher, Timbs rolled back in the ring, and went for a collar and elbow lock up. Duncum simply pushed Timbs away, forcing him into the corner. Duncum headed toward Timbs in the corner, but Ken deftly tip toed out of the corner like a scared cat, then kicked Duncum in the back of his knee, then took Duncum down to the mat with a drop toe hold too boos from the Fort Worth crowd. Now, with both men on an equal footing on the mat, Timbs went on the attack, dropping a knee on Duncum's back, then hitting the ornery Texan with a big kneebreaker that brought Bobby crashing to the mat. Timbs jawed with the crowd, then headed toward the 2nd rope, climbing up. Calling out to the crowd, Timbs then leapt and drove the point of elbow right into the hard chest of Bobby Duncum and the went for the pin, but could only get a two count. While yelling at the ref for a slow count, Timbs took the opportunity to drive a boot in the side of Duncum's torso, then pull the big man up by the hair. Timbs hit Duncum with a few chops, then sent him into the corner. Bobby stumbled out, Timbs hit him with a knee to the mush which forced Duncum to double over, and then one half of the Bodacious Blondes drilled Duncum with a swinging neckbreaker. Once again though, Duncum kicked out at two to the cheers of the Fort Worth crowd and a freak out from Rock Riddle at ringside. Timbs kept his cool though, while sneering at the ref though, and grabbed Duncum's legs, and it looked like he was going to go for a Figure Four, but Duncum kicked Timbs away, not once, not twice, but three times, with the last time sending Timbs up and over the top rope. Finally on the attack, Duncum wasted no time heading outside to go after Timbs, but unfortunately for the cowboy, Rock Riddle was still out there ringside. But, on the downside for Rock Riddle, Bobby Duncum was quite upset and drilled Timb's tag partner with a big right hand that knocked him to the ground. After staring down at Riddle for the moment, Duncum headed over to Timbs who was still on his knees. Taking no quarter, the big cowboy from Texas grabbed Timbs and sent him right back in the ring. Duncum then rolled in the ring and waited for Timbs to get up, then kicked him in the stomach and delivered a big hanging vertical suplex to one half of the Bodacious Blondes. With the crowd cheering, Duncum signaled to the crowd, and went for the lariat, but Timbs dove under the assault. Timbs then kicked Duncum in the kidneys and brought Duncum into a backslide and put his foot on the ropes while Riddle held that foot – and got the pin to boos from the crowd! Ken Timbs p. Bobby Duncum – 8' 52” The crowd, Bobby Duncum, Marc Lowrance, and largely, anybody who weren't the Bodacious Blondes were upset with the result of this match. As the two men hugged to the boos of the Fort Worth crowd, Duncum went on the attack, attempting to tackle both men, but only managing to knock Riddle to the outside of the ring, while Timbs slipped away, while various World Class officials stormed inside the ring. Stumbling out to the ringside area, Duncum grabbed the mic, calling Timbs a lucky pretty boy and said that if either Timbs or Riddle would get in the ring, he'd “knock him down to ole' Mexico!” As one would expect, the Bodacious Blondes happily headed to the locker room, celebrating all the way. 0:24-0:28 Commercials and Local House Show Advertisement 0:28-0:40 Gran Markus II vs. Korstia Korchenko As the bell rang, the luchador decided not to be a victim, and instead went right after the Russian monster, nailing him with kicks, forearms, and even a headbutt. But, then Markus made a mistake – he tried to take Korchenko down with a hiptoss. The big Russian easily used his power to block the attempt, then forcefully sent Gran Markus into the corner, where the Mexican athlete bounced off the turnbuckles right into a big boot from Korchenko. Yelling out 'Soviet Number One', Korchenko then stomped and kicked the hell out of Markus for a few moments, before pulling him up to a vertical base. Then, Korstia drilled Markus with the Russian Hammer and picked up the quick victory. Korstia Korchenko p. Gran Markus II – 3' 05” After the match, Lowrance tried to get another interview with Korchenko, but once again, Korchenko completely avoided Lowrance and headed to the back. This time however, Bugsy McGraw came to ringside and pushed Korchenko in the chest and said he was sick 'n' tired of Korchenko disrespecting America. Korchenko stayed silent as McGraw continued to lay into him. Lowrance went to Korchenko to respond, but the Russian simply grimly smiled – AND WALLOPED BUGSY WITH A RUSSIAN HAMMER THEN RAINED DOWN PUNCHES ON MCGRAW ON THE FLOOR! With Bugsy out on the mat, Korchenko grabbed the mic from Lowrance and simply said, “I accept.” As World Class officials came out to help Bugsy up, Lowrance threw it to a Bobby Fulton highlight package, focusing on his high action run with Sweet Brown Sugar in Memphis and his team up as 'The Fantastic Ones.' Coming back from the highlight package, Lowrance promoted the big Dallas show, the Labor Day Star Wars show, then welcomed Sivi Afi to the ringside area. Lowrance highlighted Afi's recent early success in World Class, but then shifted over to his recent problems with Killer Tim Brooks and The Mongol. Afi said that he was already for a fight, and in Dallas, you'll see him taking on The Mongol. Then, after that, he'll take on any comer, whether it's somebody from Devastation Inc. or a scumbag like Bad News Allen! 0:40-0:44 Commercials and Local House Show Advertisements 0:44-0:54 Tito Santana © vs. Ciclon Negro Even though Negro is far from a crowd favorite, Santana treated the long-time wrestler with respect as he came in the ring, handing over the TV belt to the referee, while accepting the cheers from the Fort Worth crowd. As the bell rang, the two men locked up, and the match immediately went to the mat. Trading holds quickly, Negro gained the early advantage with a head scissors, but Tito reversed it, getting Ciclon in a hammerlock, then a deep armbar. Negro fought out of it though, but Santana went right back on offense with an arm wringer, then a series of hiptosses and a shoulderblock which knocked Negro to the ground. As Negro got up, Tito went for a knee lift, but the veteran was ready for the TV champ, and took Negro down by grabbing Santana's legs, then locking in a modified crab on the mat. The veteran grappler then went to put on a spinning toe hold, but Tito kicked Negro away. As Santana got up, Negro hit him with a few kicks and right hands, then sent the TV champion into the ropes. However, Santana ducked under the clothesline attempt by Negro, then hit a big dropkick on Ciclon, and followed it up with a headscissors takedown that sent both men down to the mat. Tito was up first, calling out to the cheering crowd, hitting Negro with a knee lift, then sent his challenger to the far ropes – FLYING FOREARM! ONE! TWO! THREE! TITO RETAINS! Tito Santana p. Ciclon Negro – 5' 40” After the match, Lowrance welcomed Santana to ringside and congratulated him on his victory. Santana tanked Lowrance, the fans for their respect, but said that in Dallas, he didn't want to disappoint the fans by losing the Six Man titles to Devastation Inc., so he was glad he had great partners in Kerry & Kevin Von Erich. To the cheers of the crowd, Santana yelled 'ARRIBA', then held the TV title up to the crowd. 0:54-0:58 Commercials and Local House Show Advertisements 0:58-0:66 Big John Studd w/ Skandor Akbar vs. Mike Miller As the bell rings, Studd raises his fist to the booing Fort Worth crowd, then charges Miller, immediately attacking him with a running forearm, followed by a big boot that sends Miller right back into the turnbuckle. Studd continues his attack, walloping Miller with several hard shots across the chest. Miller fights back with forearms and kicks of his own, but the 350 pounder from Pennsylvania shrugs off most of his offense, before grabbing Miller by the skull and tossing him into the center of the ring. As Miller gets back to his feet, Studd grabs him and locks him in. Big John goes for a body slam, but to cheers from the Fort Worth crowd, Miller slides out of it. Immediately, knowing this is an opening, Mike goes on offense, drilling Studd with punches, kicks, and even several stiff elbow shots that send Studd reeling to the ropes. Miller grabs Studd and sends him into the ropes, but the Pacific Northwest stalwart makes a mistake by ducking his head for a backdrop too early. Studd stops himself, kicks Miller in the skull, then adds insult to injury by stepping right on Miller's head to play to the crowd. Miller slowly gets to his feet, and is actually able to block Studd's first attempt at a body slam, but after a heavy shot to the back, Studd is able to grab Miller and hit him with a big bodyslam. While the crowd boos, Miller is locked into the Reverse Bearhug and after several moments of fighting it off, the referee checks, and the arm drops three times, giving Big John Studd a victory on Satuday Night Wrestling! Big John Studd SUB Mike Miller – 5' 35” As the crowd booed, Big John Studd stood with Skandor Akbar, arrogant as hell while Lowrance went over the fact that Studd would be in the Texas tournament, and could be part of the Six Man champions by time that tournament was over. Akbar went into full rant mode, stating that it was a conspiracy that Kevin Von Erich was allowed in the Texas title tournament, a conspiracy that these mystery men were in the tournament, but it didn't matter, as Devastation Inc. was the most powerful force in wrestling, so the next time Saturday Night Wrestling was on the air, Devastation Inc. would be the Six Man champions of the Earth, and in under a month, this man would be the next champion of the most terrible state in the Union – Texas! 0:66-0:70 Commercials and Local House Show Advertisement 0:70-0:90 Kevin Von Erich vs. The Great Kabuki w/ Skandor Akbar Before the bell rung, Kabuki sprayed his mist in the air to the boos of the Fort Worth crowd, while Marc Lowrance continued to promote the fact that these two men would both be in the big six-man title defense shown next week here on Saturday Night Wrestling, and that win or lose, Kevin Von Erich would be part of the Texas Title tournament. As the match started, the two men circled each other with Kabuki going after Von Erich with quick martial art kicks, but Von Erich used his speed and wiliness to deftly avoid the kicks. But, Kabuki was able to also avoid Kevin's attempts to grab Kabuki in a lockup. After a minute of this, the American champion finally circled and trapped Kabuki in the corner, and was able to get in a lockup with Kabuki, but Kevin wanted to fight and immediately used his power to tackle Kabuki down and rain down on him with punches before both men rolled around to the ropes. After a few seconds of both men throwing shots at each other, the referee disentangled both wrestlers from each other and made them stand up. Kevin immediately threw in several right hands at the mysterious Japanese wrestler, then took him down with a snap mare, following it up with a quick knee drop. Unfortunately for Von Erich though, the follow up elbow drop missed, and Kabuki quickly scrambled to his feet and drilled Kevin Von Erich with several thrusts to the chest and throat, causing Von Erich to back up against the ropes. Von Erich tried to lock back up with Kabuki, but the member of Devastation Inc. locked on a NERVE HOLD to the boos of the Fort Worth crowd. However, the boos and jeers of the crowd quickly rose to cheers, as after a moment of struggling, Kevin locked on the Von Erich Claw to Kabuki's stomach! Kabuki immediately fell to his stomach, causing the Japanese grappler to release the hold. Von Erich slowly got to his feet after Kabuki grabbed the ropes, and went for a dropkick, and it drilled Kabuki in the chin, knocking him back to the corner. The Texas warrior immediately continued his assault on Kabuki in the corner, with kicks and punches in the corner, but Von Erich got knee'd in the mush by Kabuki, causing him to back away and collapse in the middle of the ring. With a grin, Kabuki waited for Von Erich to slowly rise to his feet – THRUST KICK! ONE! TWO! KICKOUT BY VON ERICH! Without taking a moment to argue with the referee, Kabuki locked on an immediate nerve hold again while Akbar cheered his charge at ringside. Slowly but surely though, with kicks, elbows, and an attempt at the claw, Von Erich got Kabuki to the ropes, even though the Japanese veteran took until the count of five until he broke the hold. Kabuki went after Kevin once again, but the American champion fought back with several kicks, then hit a heavy elbow strike to knock Kabuki silly. Kabuki stumbled out, Kevin hit a quick hiptoss, then scrambled to the top rope – FLYING CROSS BODY! ONE! TWO! THR – KICKOUT! As Von Erich stood up, Kabuki avoided an attack by Von Erich, and trapped in the corner, Kevin got drilled by a quick Kabuki martial arts kick, who then followed it up with a judo style throw, then Kabuki locked on the Double Nerve Hold! Kabuki kept the hold locked on, but Von Erich continued to fight back, throwing kick after kick to Kabuki's legs and knees, and eventually Kabuki had to break the nerve hold. The two men locked up, and Kabuki got Von Erich in a head lock but the scion of the finest Texan wrestling family was able to grab Kabuki and take him down with a huge back suplex to the cheers of the Fort Worth crowd. Kevin immediately followed that up with a kneedrop, an elbow drop, and then to the cheers of the crowd – LOCKED ON THE IRON CLAW! Kabuki began to fade away, while the crowd stomped their feet and clapped their hand, so Akbar did the only thing he could – jump on the ring apron and began yelling that Kevin Von Erich was doing something illegal. The referee went over to speak to Akbar, and after a moment with Kabuki struggling even more, Von Erich had to drop the hold and go after Akbar. Grabbing him by the lapel, while the referee tried to get Kevin to step away – Kabuki attacked from behind! A few thrusts to the neck and chest, then a quick martial arts kick to the chest knocked Von Erich down to the ground, then Kabuki hit a vicious quick elbow drop to massive boos from the Fort Worth crowd. Kabuki then quietly waited for Von Erich to get back to his knees – THRUST KICK! NO! VON ERICH DUCKED OUT OF THE WAY – SMALL PACKAGE BY VON ERICH! ONE! TWO! KICKOUT! Both men get up and start brawling in the middle of the ring, and Von Erich gets the better of it, and sends Kabuki into the ropes – BACKDROP BY VON ERICH! Kabuki gets up – IRON CLAW! IRON CLAW! Von Erich has it locked in the middle of the ring, Akbar can't do anything - MIST! MIST! MIST! KABUKI SPIT MIST RIGHT IN KEVIN'S EYES! Kevin Von Erich DQ The Great Kabuki – 13' 51” Kabuki began to kick the hell out of Von Erich in the middle of the ring, beating him down as the Fort Worth crowd booed. Akbar got in the ring, and got a few shots in on Von Erich, but quickly ran away as Kevin got back to his feet. Still slightly blinded, Kevin began to throw wild punches which Kabuki largely avoided, only to fall victim to Devastation Inc. as Big John Studd came out to the ring and began to attack Von Erich. But, if the crowd was booing loudly, the cheers were rapturous as TITO SANTANA AND KERRY VON ERICH HEADED TO THE RING! Devastation Inc. quickly absconded from the ring, and the other two members of the Six Man champions helped Kevin to his feet, as Saturday Night Wrestling ended. They apologized for not being around for that edition of Saturday Night Wrestling, but promised that in Dallas, they'd take care of Devastation Inc. - Norvell Austin & Al Perez defeated The Mongol & Ciclon Negro in 7:47 when Austin pinned Negro after a diving headbutt. - After the match, Austin & Perez had an interview where they challenged any tag team, whether it be the Bodacious Blondes, members of Devastation Inc., or anybody out there in Texas for a tag team match. - Before the next match, Akbar had an interview with his charges, claiming that he'd be managing the Six Man tag champions and Texas champion within a few weeks, then the roll of Devastation Inc. would only continue. - The Great Kabuki & Kamala ran over Gran Markus II & Mike Miller in 4:22 when Kamala splashed Miller after Kabuki nailed him with a thrust kick. - After the match, a highlight video was shown of Butcher Vachon, including lots of footage of him in various bloody brawls. - Before the next match, the Bodacious Blondes had an interview, claiming they'd prove the Von Erich's were frauds tonight, and that they were the true stars in World Class! - Sivi Afi defeated 'Killer' Tim Brooks by DQ in 7:14 when The Mongol ran in to assault Afi as the Samoan rising star hit a flying dropkick and was going for the pinfall. After the match, Mongol & Brooks assaulted Afi until Austin & Perez made the save! - In the main event, Kerry & Kevin Von Erich defeated The Bodacious Blondes when Kerry locked Riddle in the Iron Claw in 10:03. Again, your match write-ups are likely the best in this project. Very nice flow and easy to following along with. Feels like a very possible World Class show, with lots of familiar names and also guys that Fritz easily could have brought in had they become available. Great job Jesse.
