Grimmas Posted August 2, 2015 Report Posted August 2, 2015 Wells was in my top 3. This was a weird draft to call. Quote
dawho5 Posted August 3, 2015 Report Posted August 3, 2015 Situational pick for a Canadian promotion really. Quote
Grimmas Posted August 3, 2015 Report Posted August 3, 2015 Top 3 picks were all Canadian promotions, so yeah Dewey and Wells makes sense. Quote
goodhelmet Posted August 3, 2015 Author Report Posted August 3, 2015 Keeping it local, I like it. Quote
rainmakerrtv Posted August 3, 2015 Report Posted August 3, 2015 True story : way back in the day, when I first started watching wrestling (between WrestleMania and WrestleMania 2), WWF Maple Leaf Wrestling had their own separate Canadian tapings where everyone was moved up a notch. We usually didn't get the top level guys, the mid-card and upper job guys were competitive and even got some wins. George Wells got a fair sized push (he was a former Saskatchewan Roughrider) and was, no fooling, my favorite wrestler for a bit. It damned near broke my heart when, on a visit to my grandparents in Newfoundland, I watched a US broadcast of Superstars and saw Wells being used as a jobber. Quote
Grimmas Posted August 3, 2015 Report Posted August 3, 2015 It's amazing how long we had separate things up here. You had that Maple Leaf Wrestling, but then you had Canadian Superstars is what I grew up on. Not sure how it differed outside of the name. Quote
rainmakerrtv Posted August 3, 2015 Report Posted August 3, 2015 At some point Maple Leaf Wrestling became basically Superstars in all but name. I remember watching another show that was on the station from Kingston that was pretty much Challenge, except the last match was an arena match, usually from Toronto. I watched for the Al Perez matches and Shane Douglas' war with Haku Quote
Beast Posted August 3, 2015 Report Posted August 3, 2015 I'll give Flyin' Brian until the end of the day before I skip him. Quote
Beast Posted August 3, 2015 Report Posted August 3, 2015 MACW continues to be the place to be for fake Native American gimmicks as we draft Chief Jay Strongbow. KrisZ is up. Quote
rainmakerrtv Posted August 3, 2015 Report Posted August 3, 2015 BTW Cross Face has authorized me to make the pick for the AWA. Quote
Boon Posted August 3, 2015 Report Posted August 3, 2015 Southeastern will pass, I wanted JR Hogg but he's gone already... Quote
Beast Posted August 3, 2015 Report Posted August 3, 2015 Aww, I was hoping we'd see Ivan Putski intermingling with your authentic Southeastern roster. Quote
rainmakerrtv Posted August 3, 2015 Report Posted August 3, 2015 Instead, Polish Power will be coming to the midwest, as the AWA welcomes Ivan Putski. Quote
Boon Posted August 3, 2015 Report Posted August 3, 2015 Aww, I was hoping we'd see Ivan Putski intermingling with your authentic Southeastern roster. Sorry to disappoint, but I think you guys know how I work by now... Quote

Flyin' Brian Posted August 3, 2015 Report Posted August 3, 2015 I have good working relationships with both of you guys, so there can be plenty of JR Hogg to go around. Quote
El Boricua Posted August 3, 2015 Report Posted August 3, 2015 I have good working relationships with both of you guys, so there can be plenty of JR Hogg to go around. I guess that means that ICW won't be Hogging him for themselves then. (•_•) ( •_•)>⌐■-■ (⌐■_■), YEAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!! Quote
