It’s SummerSlam Celebration Week, and on the first podcast of the week, Will is joined by Pete and Johnny (Titans of Wrestling) to discuss the best SummerSlam of all time. We run down every card and discuss all of the big matches. We narrow the list down to the Final Three and only one will emerge the victor.

I must apologise in advance for my appearance on this show, which I think is bottom 2-3 Parv podcast appearance ever. Will and Kris were both great and you should definitely listen, but when we got to 97, I was talking about a show I hadn't seen in 18 years, and was drawing a blank. Just apologies in advance. I like to put out what I think is quality content, and I didn't think I was up to snuff on this one. I was working flat out that week, with little down time and was running on fumes for this show with no prep.

I love all you guys, but that Best Summerslam Ever show was super frustrating and frankly embarrassing at points.

"I don't remember this, so it couldn't have been memorable" isn't a legit argument, especially when discussing shows over a decade old. Also taking into account region and generation, it may have been a good idea to have someone like JT on who grew up with these shows to counterbalance the opinions of 90's WWF.

The double standard of having 2005 go to the second round due to a short Edge-Hardy match, an overrated Guerrero-Mysterio match, and a funny, but meaningless HBK/Hogan match and 1989, 1990, 1993, 1995, and almost 2002 get roundly dismissed is ludicrous.

1989 has Brainbusters vs. Hart Foundation, Rude vs. Ultimate Warrior, and Martel/Rougeaus vs. Santana/Rockers which are all really fun or great.

1990 I'd put a level down, but the Powers and Glory vs. Jannetty, Demolition vs. Hart Foundation, Hogan vs Quake, and Warrior vs Rude are all worth watching, plus the return of evil Slaughter and Kerry vs. Perfect.

1993 is super underrated. Steiners vs. Heavenly Bodies, Gunns/Tatanka vs. Bigelow/Headshrinkers, and the Hart/Doink-Lawler saga are all top notch. The rest of the matches are all interesting whether it be Dibiase's last major WWF match, Luger and his story vs Yokozuna, Perfect-Shawn in an average battle or Ludvig Borga squashing Jannetty.

1995 deserves praise for the ladder match plus Hakushi vs Kid, Horowitz vs. Skip, and Hart vs. Yankem. None are MOTY contenders other than the ladder match, but it's a fun show.

The 2002 talk pissed me off. That's a show that top to bottom is great and is the only Summerslam to win the WON Show of the Year. That's not the reason it should be number one, but it certainly talks to its reputation at the time and it holds up. Angle-Mysterio, Edge-Guerrero, Benoit-RVD (I don't DQ Benoit), Michaels-HHH, and Rock-Brock go up against any other major show. Plus that Test-Undertaker match is actually quite good. When the worst match on a 8 match show is either Flair-Jericho or Storm/Christian vs. Booker/Goldust, you know it's a good show.

1998 is overrated. I'm a 90's WWF guy but had the misfortune to drop out during my years between adolescence and teenager and missed 1998. When I went back to watch it without any sort of emotional connection, I found that show alright, but kinda boring. The Rock-HHH match is the ladder match version of the Hart Cage Match 4 years earlier. Plus lots of meh wrestling on the undercard.

2013 is good but there's literally nothing other than the top 3 matches and I like cards with more variety than 2 all-time great matches that take up one hour. Alberto-Christian is fine, but almost overrated due to people trying to make sure it's not overshadowed.

Long rant aside, I wish you guys had at least made a playlist of 10-20 matches to revisit that sounded interesting, but had been forgotten before doing this.

Actually enjoyed the show overall, but that's my two cents.
