Grimmas
Fuerza Guerrera against Negro Casas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think Villano III paid off fans for their seats, so his brothers could set front row! Take that Ted DiBiase. First fall is quick, highlighted by Atlantis and Villano III doing an awesome exchange ending with a vicious Atlantis tope. Then we get the dream between Casas and Fuerza which does not disappoint, before the tecnicos quickly wrap up the fall. Falls ending does not stop Villano III and Atlantis as they brawl all around ringside. With Atlantis ripping up the mask in revenge from the previous match and even beating up Villano III right in front of his brothers.Atlantis tries to freaking rip the seat off a chair to use to kill Villano III. This feud is the best. Casas' reaction to Salvaje coming at him was priceless. Salvaje gets one shot before Casas loses it on him, although the rudos use their numbers to tie up the match. Casas is a house of fire in the third fall. I truly think Casas would had been the best hot tag wrestler in southern wrestling he was so great here. Atlantis clears house and goes for a tope, but the Villanos brothers jump up and stop him and drag him outside the ring to kick his ass. An old lady tries to get the referees attention to get him to turn around to see the cheating, but he ignores her. Camel Clutch by Villano III seems to get him the win over Atlantis, however some dude in a suit lectures the referee. The referee ignores the lecture and raises the rudos hands! I loved this, but it was pretty short. Maybe *** 3/4.. maybe ****.
soup23
Tough act to follow but they did an admirable job. I really liked the Villano's taking a front row seat and looking on at the proceedings. Atlantis was able to get in many payback spots here including the mask ripping and hitting a big dive on V. III. Casas and Fuerza is a great pairing and I would love to see more of it in the future. Emilio also mixed it up well here and seemed to fit in the tecnico role in this trios more than in the previous matches. With the offense that Atlantis got early on, it was only a matter of time before Villano III came back and he does with his brothers and a vengeance in the third fall. Another great third fall here with them decimating Atlantis and achieving the victory after some discussion. CMLL continues to be super hot around this time period. ***1/
Loss
Was CMLL going for the jugular on this show or what? Great booking and wrestling, working to get people pissed off and fired up. This was another great match. As a wrestling match, this was more fully fleshed out than its predecessor. It was a little more restrained, but pretty chaotic by just about any other standard. I really enjoyed the Negro-Fuerza chemistry and I agree that match would be great to see again. The Villano brothers showing up in street clothes and putting the boots to Atlantis on the outside just before Villano III gets a camel clutch victory was a great finish to build heat on the feud. This is easily the best wrestling company in the world at this point in time. ****
ohtani's jacket
Just in case you thought the Villano/Atlantis build was living in the shadow of the Satanico/Tarzan Boy feud here is a match to remind you which match-up has the higher stakes. It wasn't until the Villano brothers got involved at ringside that the Villano feud with Atlantis matched the intensity of the hatred between Casas and Bestia, and I do kind of wish that Atlantis would fire up a bit more, but given the gang warfare mentality of the CMLL booking in January 2000 and the fact that it feels like a rudo promotion right now, this was a timely reminder to Atlantis where the power lay. When you take on the Villanos you take on the family. Let's see how Atlantis responds.
AstroBoy
Yeah the Villanos attacking Atlantis was a pretty awesome moment and helped push this over this feud over the edge for me. I will echo the enjoyment for the Fuerza/Casas exchanges. Fuerza looked pretty good in this. It's great to watch this kind of stuff in context knowing there are big payoffs coming down the line. Such a better way to view wrestling than just trying to watch the top-end stuff in a mad rush.
Laney
This didn't measure up to the other trios match from this same night. It was fun, but nowhere near the same level of hatred. This had three short falls with the stakes of this feud not really being shown until the final fall when the Villanos jump Atlantis to help Villano III pick up the victory. It was funny seeing Emilio Charles nail himself in the nuts when he hits the seated senton near the end of this match. Overall, I thought this was a fine match, but I don't think I got as much out of it as everyone else did. ***1/
Tim Evans
I'm a big mark for fat masked luchadors in regular clothes attacking people so I loved the Villano's attacking Atlantis. I gotta agree with OJ about wishing Atlantis would show more fire. He did better here than the previous matches. Good build to the eventual mask match. Moonsault Marvin
Good match. When the Villanos convince two guys to give them their seats, you know there up to no good. One highlight in this one was the punch by Fuerza when Casas goes for the leapfrog. Atlantis was trying so hard to rip that seat out to use against Villano III, but he just couldn't get it. Emilio Charles crotching himself on Fuerza's head probably hurt. Those Villanos finally got up and gave Atlantis a beatdown, costing his team the match. CMLL had a really good January. TravJ1979
CMLL has been the biggest revelation for me so far in PWO2K. Amazing brawling, booking, feuds, wrestling ... it has it all.
grendel
Great match! I love these kind of brawls. Can watch them all day long. Seeing the other Villanos at ringside waiting to get their hands on Atlantis was great. I am pretty amazed how good CMLL is in 2000. Thanks to this project we are in for some more great stuff the coming months.
Sean Liska
Quick first fall dominated by the tecnicos. Nice brawling with Atlantis/Villano and Atlantis even hits a tope near the start of the match. Rudos take the segunda. Negro is a house of fire as we start the tercera including a plancha, looks great. It comes down to Atlantis and Villano and Atlantis is attacked by the other Villanos! What a feud, can’t wait to revisit the payoff in March. Good match.
KB8
It's been said, but the build to Atlantis Villano III has been great and this was more of the same. Of course the Villano family gang beating was on the cards from the jump, but I loved Atlantis, probably knowing full well what was coming, going for the throat straight out the gate. He wasn't messing around and he wouldn't be satisfied until he'd broken at least one chair with Villano's head. Echoing the wishes for a Casas/Fuerza singles match. They weren't matched up for long, but that brief little tussle was certainly a nice appetizer.
corwo
Fuerza has a mean right-hand. Quick first fall for the tecnicos. Atlantis is obsessed with Villano III, going after him on the floor and ripping up a chair, and the ref has to calm things down before the segunda begins. Rudos take the second fall rather quickly. We come back to Casas going wild. Los Villanos attack Atlantis on the floor, but the rudos still end up getting the win. As others have said, I don't think this quite lives up to the 1/14 trios match, but it's a great way to further the feud and a pretty good match to boot.
