The second trip to Japan is once again a successful one. The tag teams really got to shine here. I think Pillman has really gotten over with the Japanese fans and will be a future attraction. Hennig once again scores a tag fall on Bock. I believe Hennig is closing in on a title win. BTW, Bock and Inoki, what a dream team, which makes Windham and Hennig's win that much more impressive.

Portland,

Morton has made enemies with the Diamond Exchange but has gained a loyal friend in Burke.

Will Texas Red break on through to the other side?

Furnas makes it clear where he stands and it's not with Gary Hart and company.

Wild Things are gelling better than ever.

Bret scores the pin on the TV champ in a thrilling 6 man tag. I think this woke Ed up.

Portland Coliseum

The night starts with heat as Cactus costs Pierre the match.

Hennig is on a serious roll because he just beat a red hot anvil.

Pierre gets payback. I'm loving this feud. Pierre and Jack's styles just mesh.

Speaking of feuds I like, Red and Bubba keep theirs hot.

Southern Boys have been in some classics since returning. This time over the Malenkos.

Great TV title main event! 3 falls of pure intensity. Gantner retains and proves he's the real deal.

Eugene,

You know you're in for an exciting night when Tiger kicks things off.

WOW! Payne taking down St. Clair is a big deal.

Gary is in severe need of a confidence booster.

Cuban Assassin is a huge asset to the Diamond Exchange.

I loved that finisher British Steel used on the Midnights to retain.

Simmons gives Backlund all he can handle. Bob's awareness gets him the c.o. win to retain.

Pacific was on fire this week!

Leo Burke & Todd Morton vs. Joe & Dean Malenko

Leo Burke - IMDb Todd Morton shares his thoughts after July 20th - YouTubeThe Malenko Brothers – Online World of Wrestling

Young Todd Morton's quest to establish himself has gotten the support of the fans behind him with some impressive performances. He certainly had his work cut out for him against the Malenko Brothers. He gave a very good accounting of himself, but eventually their superior experience and considerable skill caught up with him, and he had to tag out to his mentor, Leo Burke. Soon after was when the Diamond Exchange struck. Timothy Flowers and Angel Acevedo snuck down to ringside, pulled Morton off the ring apron, and ambushed him with a spike piledriver on the floor. When he saw Flowers and Acevedo rushing away from the ring, Burke was distracted enough that he was easy prey for a German Suplex from Joe Malenko, which gave the win to the brothers. Steve Blackman and Shane Douglas rushed out, but the damage had already been done, and all they could do was help their comrades away from the ring.

Tony St. Clair vs. Maxx Payne

Exclusive Tony St Clair Interview by Seconds Away-British Wrestling Podcast then and now Maxx Payne

Last week, St. Clair lost a hard fought match against big Maxx Payne. In tonight's rematch, "Tough" Tony was determined to not let history repeat itself and went at it fist and fire with Paul Bearer's man. This was a down and dirty brawl that eventually spilled to the outside. St. Clair was the first back into the ring, and while Payne was able to make it back onto the ring apron, a spinning forearm smash from St. Clair sent him tumbling back to the floor. St. Clair won this round by countout, but I don't think this is over by a long chalk.

Shane Douglas vs. Art Barr

image.png.7be12b2b0c294826b36b197b636a552c.png Art Barr aka Love Machine | Pro wrestling, Detroit news, Wrestling

Although there has long been a rivalry since their split from the Army, but the Wild Things have been having more and more intense matches with Black Gold, getting some impressive wins . In this match, Barr squared off with his former colleague, with both men giving it their all and trying to prove to be superior. It seemed like Douglas was tipping the balance in his favour when Barr caught him flat footed with a spectacular dropkick. He then dashed up to the top rope and came off with a Frog Splash that got the one two three. At this point, there can be no doubt that the Wild Things are the real deal.

Super Strong Machine vs. Gary Young

December 20th Birthdays | Freakin' Awesome Network Forums HighSpots.com: Gary Young Promo - AUTOGRAPHED

Gary Young has been struggling lately in his efforts to reassert his position in the Knights Templar. It certainly didn't help that he was facing the tough Japanese veteran Super Strong Machine. Young certainly gave it his best shot, doing everything he could get out of any attempted submission holds and getting in some shots of his own. He managed to get Machine set up for the DDT, but Machine busted out of it with a hard knee to the midsection followed by a backdrop. The masked man then hit a crushing series of suplexes, capped off with the Devil Windmill Suplex for the win. Better luck next time, Gary.

Barry Windham vs. Teijo Khan

Barry Windham - WikipediaTeijo Khan (American Professional Wrestler) ~ Wiki & Bio with Photos | Videos

Barry Windham has had a very up and down year, coming in as Pacific Heavyweight Champion but losing the title to Nick Bockwinkel and being embroiled in a lengthy feud with the One Man Gang. Windham has been through some serious wars, but has shown his determination to keep his head up and fight his way back to major title contention. Teijo Khan was certainly a tough test of the second generation star, and the two big stallions knocked each other around the ring in a jarring heavyweight bout. But Windham showed his resilience, weathering out Khan's offense and then hitting a big Western Lariat to pull out the victory. Barry Windham isn't going to stop until he gets back to the top.

Black Gold (Steve Blackman & Shane Douglas) vs. "Diamond" Timothy Flowers & Angel Acevedo

Black Gold put in a good effort, but the roughhousing of the Diamond Exchange was too much to overcome, with Acevedo pinning Douglas following a DDT.

Dingo Warrior vs. Big Bubba Rogers

Jim Cornette tried to interfere in the match, but Dingo caught him at it. Dingo Warrior then chased Cornette around the ring until he was counted out, giving the win to Big Bubba.

Bret Hart vs. Rick Gantner

This wound up  being a ferocious battle, where Bret was finally able to wear down Gantner enough to get him to tap out to the Sharpshooter

Texas Red & Tony St. Clair vs. Sid Vicious & Maxx Payne

Red and St. Clair won by DQ when Big Bubba Rogers charged into the ring and attacked Texas Red. Vicious and Payne held off St. Clair while Bubba continued his assault. Strangely, Paul Bearer kept screaming , "GET UP! GET UP!" at Red while Big Bubba beat him down. Eventually, Bret Hart, Dan Severn and Jeff Jarrett ran out to run off Bubba. Texas Red was giving Paul Bearer a dirty look as he left the ring.

Black Tiger vs. Owen Hart

This was an exciting technical bout that went to Owen when he hit a Moonsault on Black Tiger.

Pacific Tag Team Title Match : The Bomb Squad (Chris Candido & Al Snow) © vs. Dan Severn & Jeff Jarrett

An intense tag team title bout that ended when Candido pinned Jarrett following a flying legdrop.

Pacific Heavyweight Title Match : Nick Bockwinkel © vs. Buddy Rose

Bockwinkel has had many tough defenses in his time as champion, but this would be his first time defending against the self proclaimed King Of Portland. As could be expected, this was a Masterclass in dirty tricks, with both men dueling each other to see who could sink lower in villainous tactics. After a long and tense battle, Bockwinkel was able to dodge out of the way of an attempt by Rose at a running elbow smash in the corner, then followed up with a rollup assisted by a fistful of trunks to get the one two three.

Acevedo's DDT is becoming one of PCW's most consistent finishers.

DW gets to preoccupied chasing Cornette to remember he had a match going on.

Bret moves a step closer to a another TV title shot by submitting the champ's brother.

Interesting scene between Bearer, Red & Bubba.

Owen with a huge win over Black Tiger.

I was pulling for the Odd Couple but the Bomb Squad have hold on to the gold.

What do y'all wanna bet Rose is enough of a heel he got Bock cheered?

Fresno native Neidhart was able to overpower Jarrett and force him to tap out to the Camel Clutch

Steve Blackman vs. Eddie Guerrero

The feud between Black Gold and the Wild Things continued, with Blackman catching Eddie coming off the ropes with a spin kick to the head to score the victory

Angel Of Death gave a ferocious battle to Hennig, but Hennig would not be denied, pinning him after a top rope missile dropkick

Hector Guerrero vs. Akira Maeda

Maeda battered Hector before forcing him to tap out to an elevated Boston Crab

Leo Burke & British Steel (Steven Regal & Robbie Brookside) vs. Angel Acevedo, Buzz Sawyer & Hack Sawyer

While Burke and Acevedo were constantly going after each other, with Burke looking to avenge Todd Morton, it was Brookside who pulled out the win by pinning Hack Sawyer with a Sunset Flip

California & Submission Title Match : Bob Backlund © vs. Doug Furnas

While Backlund is known as one of the strongest men in PCW, even his considerable power was put to the limit by the incredible force of Furnas. He was eventually able to wear him down enough to trap him in the Backlund Bridge, but it was a very close escape for the champion.

The Diamond Exchange get some serious heat with a concrete spike piledriver on Morton! Burke's Army will want payback!

Once again props to you for creating new and fresh feuds. St. Clair vs. Payne is a perfect example.

The build of the Wild Things has been well done and believable. I've said this before, If I was a young wrestler, Pacific is where I would want to be.

Credit to Gary, he's trying. No shame in losing to SSM.

Windham gets a big win over Khan as he rises back up the rankings.

Cow Palace,

Diamond Exchange keep on winning.

LOL, Warrior getting counted out while chasing Cornette is such a realistic finish.

Bret rebounds from his TV title match loss with a win over the champ's brother.

Bubba assaults Red while Bearer cheers Red on. The saga continues.

Once again the LHW's put in a show stealer. Man, I love these matches.

Bomb Squad get a solid defense over the Odd Couple.

Bock vs. Rose for the title in the Cow Palace is money! I loved this booking. Bock out heels the biggest heel in Pacific.

Fresno,

Anvil continues to look like a beast.

Cool visual with the Blackman finish. Although Eddie probably didn't think it was so cool.

Hennig proves he can go toe to toe with the monsters.

Akira is having one heck of a Pacific run.

Leo has the right guys backing him up to get a satisfying win.

Furnas gives Backlund a challenge but Backlund is able to edge out the win.

Sid Vicious vs. Joel Anderson

The Match #10: Psycho Sid Vs. Jinder Mahal In GNW '08 – Wrestling Recaps

Sid Vicious has been on a rampage lately, bullying and brutalizing his opponents in some extremely one sided matches. He kept up that trend as he hurled Anderson around like a ragdoll, pulverizing him with big power moves and then finishing off the job with a pair of Power Bombs. After the match, Vicious picked up Anderson and tossed him hard out of the ring. Even that wasn't enough for the sadistic West Memphis monster, as he waited for the medics to try to take Anderson out of the arena then shoved all of them aside on his way to the locker room. Something has to be done about this lunatic.

Dan Severn vs. Al Snow

Dan Severn (Page 1) - Line.17QQ.comLeif Cassidy | Ring the Damn Bell

Recently, Severn and his partner Jeff Jarrett have been giving considerable challenge to the Bomb Squad for the Pacific Tag Team Titles. Severn would face off with one half of the champs in Al Snow, and the two wound up engaging in the proverbial game of human chess. The two wound up matching each other hold for hold, with Severn's keen instincts allowing him to shut down Snow's big moves while Snow's considerable skill got him out of Severn's attempts at submission holds. The two were still going at it when the bell rang, signaling a 15 minute time limit draw. The two men shook hands in respect after the match, but I doubt this will be the last we see of these two battling each other.

Leo Burke, Todd Morton & Black Gold (Steve Blackman & Shane Douglas) vs. The Diamond Exchange ("Diamond" Timothy Flowers, "The Cuban Assassin" Angel Acevedo, Buzz Sawyer & Hack Sawyer)

Leo Burke - IMDb Todd Morton shares his thoughts after July 20th - YouTubeSteve Blackman - His Real-Life Battle with Darknessimage.png.7be12b2b0c294826b36b197b636a552c.pngDiamond Timothy Flowers transitions to Streetfighter | Slam WrestlingAutographed Cuban Assassin 8x10 Photograph. | EstateSales.orgKissed A** all the time”-Wrestling Veteran makes allegation about legend The Undertaker

After Todd Morton got a surprising win over Angel Acevedo a few weeks ago, the Diamond Exchange have had it out for the young star. After they ambushed him with a spike piledriver on the concrete last week, he was wearing a protective collar to protect his hurt neck. This unfortunately provided a tempting target for the Diamond Exchange, and in a hot tempered and nasty battle, they went after it every chance they got. But this reached a terrible peak when Flowers dragged Morton out of the ring and, while the Exchange held off the rest of the Army, gave him a piledriver through the ringside table. Morton was not moving afterwards and the ref had no choice but to count him out as his friends swarmed over to protect them. This is without a doubt the most dastardly thing the Diamond Exchange have ever done, and you can bet that the Army will do everything they can to make them pay.

Tracy Smothers vs. Stan Lane

One half of the Wild-Eyed Southern Boys, Tracy Smothers - SJ | Wrestling superstars, Southern boys, Watch wrestling80's PRO WRESTLING PHOTOS STAN LANE w Belt BUY ANY 4, GET 5th FREE! | eBay

With the Southern Boys and the Midnight Express having several exciting matches lately, so there was a lot of interest in this singles match between Smothers and Lane. With Lane being the Man with the educated feet, and Smothers having considerable skills in that department as well, the two certainly had a hard hitting martial arts duel, with many Savate and Karate kicks finding their mark. But it was a spinning elbow smash coming off the ropes that got Smothers the pinfall over Lane. A hard fought win that went over well with the fans.

Chavo Guerrero vs. One Man Gang

Wrestling's Chavo Guerrero Sr. was a true classic | Sports | postandcourier.com Rasslin' History 101 on Twitter: ""The Big 747":One Man Gang.1987 https://t.co/7kxkm8LycH" / Twitter

While Chavo certainly has no shortage of skill or toughness, in this match he was simply overwhelmed by the big 747. Gang overpowered him and hurled him about the ring before hitting a front layout suplex for the win. A convincing victory, but things certainly won't be as easy for the One Man Gang once Barry Windham catches up with him.

Bret Hart, Owen Hart & Brian Pillman vs. Gary Young, Jim Neidhart & Bob Backlund

Bret "The Hitman" Hart - An Evening with the WWE Wrestling Legend - Tidemark Theatre 20 Years Ago Today: The Life and Death of Owen HartAnything Wrestling - 22 Years Later: October 5th, 1997 - WattpadHighSpots.com: Gary Young Promo - AUTOGRAPHEDJim The Anvil Neidhart Arrested and Other Wrestlers Gone Wild | Bleacher Report | Latest News, Videos and HighlightsBob Backlund (Wrestling) - TV Tropes

There has been a lot of trouble and strife in the camp of the Knights Templar, and it was a considerable risk for Mr. Bob Backlund to put his two problem children in the same match as him. They kept it together for most of the match, having a tightly contested bout with Pillman and the Hart Brothers. But things swiftly broke down when all 6 men started battling in the ring at once. Neidhart looked like he would take the match when he was about to get his former partner Bret Hart in the dreaded Anvilizer. But then Owen ducked under a clothesline from Young, and Young knocked Neidhart down instead. Neidhart got to his feet and engaged in a shoving match with Young, but Bret caught Neidhart in a rollup and Owen held off Young long enough for Bret to get the three count. After the match, Young and Neidhart started full on slugging it out, until Backlund bellowed, "ENOUGH!", and dragged them both back to the locker room by the scruff of the neck.

Vicious is truly terrorizing the PCW locker room.

Severn & Snow get a chance to show off what they can do.

The Diamond Exchange may have just achieved their goal of taking Todd Morton out of PCW.

Sweet Stan has a sour taste in his mouth courtesy of Tracy Smothers.

OMG gives Chavo a Classic ass-whooping.

The tension between Young & Neidhart finally boils over costing the Knights Templar in the main event. Mr Backlund scruffing the two of them was hilarious though.

Sid Vicious vs. Chet Welch

The Match #10: Psycho Sid Vs. Jinder Mahal In GNW '08 – Wrestling Recaps

For the past few weeks, Sid Vicious has been administering a series of truly brutal beatings on PCW rookies, both during and after his matches. He continued this trend with an absolute drubbing of poor Chet Welch. Vicious beat Welch from pillar to post before pinning him after two power bombs. This time, however, Vicious was looking to take his sadism to sickening new heights. He went outside the ring, grabbed a steel chair, and got Welch set up for a powerbomb on the chair that would have put Welch out of action for good. He never got a chance to complete this atrocity, as Ron Simmons came roaring into the ring and knocked Vicious to the ground. The two time All American unleashed furious punches on him until Vicious made it back to his feet. The two kept slugging it out and it took a full complement of PCW security to pull them apart.

The Light Heavyweight division has truly caught fire in the past year, generating plenty of matches that have gotten the fans excited. This match featured two of the hottest young talents in PCW, and the match certainly lived up to expectations. These two daredevils went at it full bore, with plenty of high flying and near falls. Owen was able to knock down Sabu coming off the ropes with a spinning back heel kick. He followed up with a moonsault that got the three count. A convincing win that would have to rocket Own up to the top of the Light Heavyweight ranks, where his best friend Brian Pillman reigns as champion.

The crowd rains down boos as Mr. Bob Backlund  leads his men to the ring. Al Snow and Chris Candido both looked nervous, Gary Young had a petulant look, Jim Neidhart bore a determined expression, but Backlund's face had the distinct look of barely checked fury.

Backlund : Give me that microphone! Young, Neidhart , I have had just about all I can take from you. I give you direct orders to stay clear of each other, and you still keep squabbling like spoiled children.

Young : But sir, he …

Backlund : I DON'T CARE! I give you two orders and I expect them to be followed! You both had so much promise, but I am coming to regret bringing you into my circle. Frankly, I am sick to death of the pair of you. So I am laying down the law. At the end of November will be San Diego Battleground. At that event, you two will get in the ring and square off like men. When the match is over , one of you will stay and the other will be gone. Not just from the Knights Templar but from Pacific Coast Wrestling! *the Knights and the fans react with shock* Whoever loses the match, I never want to see you again. And whoever wins, well, maybe I can whip you into shape from there. Until that day, I don't want you going anywhere near each other. THAT'S AN ORDER!

With that, Backlund turns on his heel and leaves the ring, with the rest of the Knights awkwardly following from behind.

Last week, Todd Morton was taken out of action due to the horrific acts of the Diamond Exchange. Tonight, Black Gold were looking to avenge their fallen comrade by taking on two of the Exchange in the Sawyer Brothers. Blackman and Douglas gave it their best shot, but in the end, the Sawyers were just two rough, tough and violent, with Buzz pinning Shane with a crushing scoop powerslam off the ropes.

Doug Furnas vs. Dean Malenko

Doug Furnas - Alchetron, The Free Social Encyclopediaimage.jpeg.cb085c544ab4a2640022f0abc2fca846.jpeg

Ever since his return to PCW several weeks ago, Furnas gave notice to his former comrades in the Pride that he expected them to give him a wide berth, but they have just kept on crossing his path. In this match, the younger of the two Malenko Brothers did battle with Furnas, and the two had a tightly contested duel that matched up Dean's considerable technical expertise against the impressive power of the Oklahoma native. They did battle until Dean tried to take out Furnas with a brainbuster. Furnas blocked it and countered with a mighty vertical suplex, followed by a German Suplex that gave him the pinfall.

Battle Royal for a shot at the Pacific Heavyweight Title at San Diego Battleground : Buddy Rose, Angel Of Death, Teijo Khan, One Man Gang, Sid Vicious, Big Bubba Rogers, Cactus Jack, "Diamond" Timothy Flowers, Akira Maeda, Jim Neidhart, Bret Hart, Tony St. Clair, Barry Windham, Curt Hennig, Ron Simmons, Leo Burke, Dan Severn, Jeff Jarrett, Billy Jack Haynes, Super Strong Machine

This would be the most highly anticipated Pacific Wrestling Showcase main event in quite some time. A battle royal for title shot at the biggest PCW show of the year. Once all of the men were in the ring, the action got started as intensely as one could imagine. No surprise that Vicious and Simmons immediately tore into each other, battling so furiously that they ended up eliminating each other right off the bat. They continued fighting all the way to the back. One Man Gang went on a tear, tossing out Super Strong Machine and Jeff Jarrett , before Windham, Hennig, Severn, St. Clair, Haynes, Khan and Angel of Death put aside their differences to, errr, gang up on the big 747 to hoist him out of the ring. May hot feuds were evident, as Bret Hart and Jim Neidhart, Dan Severn and Akira Maeda, and Leo Burke and Timothy Flowers all went after each other. Severn and Burke were able to work together to eliminate Maeda and Flowers, while Neidhart overpowered his former partner to toss him from the ring. Buddy Rose was content to avoid as much contact as possible, instead setting his men Khan and Angel Of Death to do his dirty work for him. The Playboy Club took advantage of the distraction of the other wrestlers by attacking Severn, Burke and Neidhart all from behind to eliminate them. St. Clair was able to catch up with Rose and do a lot of damage, but the Playboy was able to duck under a spinning forearm smash to backdrop him out of the ring. Cactus Jack, in fitting with his crazy reputation, threw everything he had at Billy Jack Haynes, but ultimately got two reckless, and was caught by the powerful Oregonian who hurled him over the top ropes. Quick as a flash, the Playboy Club swept in and hit a double clothesline from behind that eliminated Billy Jack. It came down to a final five of Rose, Khan, Angel Of Death, Hennig and Windham. The Playboy Club took advantage of the numbers to wear down the men of the Brigade. But then they got overconfident, with Rose taking time out to gloat to the crowd. He failed to notice Windham and Hennig recover to double back body drop both Angel Of Death and Khan out of the ring. He turned around and was aghast to discover he was all alone against both Windham and Hennig. They did some damage but Rose went right to the gutter with his usual dirty tactics, giving a nasty eyerake to Hennig followed by a low blow kick to Windham. He then hurled Windham out of the ring, but Barry was able to catch himself on the top rope and pull himself back up to the ring apron. Unfortunately for him, the temporarily blinded Hennig was able to grab Rose and whipped him into the ropes, causing a collision that led to Windham crashing to the floor. Hennig then hit a dropkick that sent Rose flying out of the ring, leaving Hennig as the last man standing. An angered Windham rushed into the ring and confronted Hennig, but once it was explained what had happened, he calmed down and congratulated his comrade, even raising his arm in victory. Hennig was triumphant, and in spite of Nick Bockwinkel's declaration that he would not get a rematch, would face the champ for the Pacific Heavyweight Title.

Finally! Someone willing to stand up to Vicious.

Owen wins the air war against Sabu & may soon find himself standing across from his friend Pillman.

Mr Backlund has had enough & books a loser leaves town match between Young Neidhart at San Diego Battleground.

Big win for the Sawyer brothers.

Furnas shows his former teammates why it would be wise to leave him alone.

Great job highlighting all the various rivalries in your battle royal. Interesting tease between Windham & Hennig after the accidental elimination.

Pacific Coast Wrestling show from the Pacific Coliseum, Vancouver on Pacific Super Cards on ESPN / TSN , October 29th

Fit Finlay vs. Buddy Rose

After the ref was knocked down in a collision , Finlay was going to set Rose up for a piledriver when the Angel Of Death ran out and hit the Death Sentence (top rope flying clothesline) on Finlay. When the ref came to, he counted the pinfall to give the win to Rose. After the match, Finlay , Angel Of Death and Teijo Khan tried to beat down Finlay until Cannonball Grizzly and Pierre Carl Ouellet rushed out to run them off.

Pierre Carl Ouellet vs. Mr. Hito

In what was a very hard hitting match, Ouellet pinned Hito following a package piledriver.

Hector Guerrero vs. Art Barr

A high flying affair with Barr pulling out the win with a Frog Splash

Tony St. Clair vs. Maxx Payne

St. Clair got the win by DQ when Payne got him in the Payne Killer too close to the ropes but refused to release it

Barry Windham, Curt Hennig & Ron Simmons vs. Big Bubba Rogers & The Midnight Express

Hoo, boy. After a long and highly competitive match, the whole thing devolved into chaos when One Man Gang and Sid Vicious both charged into the ring to attack the Brigade. Cornette ordered his men to retreat from the ring and stay out of the way, but Big Bubba pretended not to hear him to get his own licks in on the Brigade. This wound up being a mistake by the Louisville Slugger as this prompted Texas Red to come in swinging a chair. He clocked Bubba with a chair, busting him open. As Rogers lay dazed and bloodied in the ring, Red looked set to do even more serious damage when Simmons and Hennig grabbed his chair, begging him not to do anything he might regret. Red was angry and looked like he might go after them, but suddenly the lights went out in the arena, and when they came back on, there was a full complement of PCW security in the ring separating the wrestlers. A livid PCW Commissioner Dutch Savage got on the ringside microphone , ordering the wrestlers to return to the locker room under threat of immediate suspension. The wrestlers complied as Savage stood at ringside, shaking his head in anger.

Pacific Heavyweight Title Match : Nick Bockwinkel © vs. Bret Hart

Bockwinkel was clearly annoyed that Curt Hennig, the man to whom he declared "No rematch!" , had earned a title shot at San Diego Battleground, and was looking to take his frustrations out on Bret Hart . Bad idea, as the Calgary native was nobody's pushover and gave the champ everything he had. Both men went all out in a long, intense battle, and on several occasions, it looked like Hart just might pull out the upset. He finally had him set up for the Sharpshooter, but Bockwinkel was able to catch him in an inside cradle and just barely hold him down for the three count. A narrow escape for the champ, but one that he worked hard for.
