Guest Slickster
Couldn't he just be trying to work us by pretending to go 'over the line' with comments about his career and about WWE?

Loss
So Grizzly Smith passed away. That actually has the potential to be a pretty chilling WON bio, based on his work for Watts in the glory years but moreso for his relationships with his children involved in wrestling. I was never clear about Jake's mother. Jake was born out of rape, correct? Does that mean Grizzly Smith raped a girl that got pregnant, or was Jake adopted? Anyway, whatever the case, it's an interesting story.
MikeCampbell
Jake's side of the story, per Beyond the Mat and his Pick Your Poison DVD, is that Grizzly raped the thirteen year old daughter of the woman he was dating at the time, and that Grizzly always had a thing for young girls. Going by Jake's shoot as well he said the same thing. I heard others say the same things about his preference for young girls. Despite that he was well liked in quarters and was in WCW as an agent for some time. It'll be interesting how he lived past Katrina.
KrisZ
Yeah the Grizzly Smith bio is something I'm really wanting to read.
Dylan Waco
Also should be noted that Rockin Robin who is Jake's half sister claims Grizzly molested her when she was a kid and supposedly told Howard Brody that the family thinks Grizzly was involved in the murder Jake talks about of another family member (sister?) on both Beyond the Mat and his DVD. Loss
I just watched the Vader/Gorilla Monsoon angle on You Tube. Wow. The crowd was *massively* into Vader, and this angle was pitch-perfect. It's a shame what became of Vader in the WWF, because this was about as close to perfect a start as possible. El-P
I fail to see how Vader selling for 60 or so year old Gorilla Monsoon worked in any way shape or form. Terrible way to introduce Vader, made him look like an idiot, which is basically the way he was booked during his entire tenure. I though it as an epic failure of a debut. Loss
He didn't sell for him at all. He left him laying. Gorilla chopped him three times and he mildly responded to it, but that was about it.
El-P
I remember him selling those chops, which at the time I found really stupid. I should have no-sell it like Luger would no-sell Flair's. Then again, Vader used to sell too much too easily anyway.
S.L.L.
It's been a long time, but I don't think the chops were even registering with me when I was watching it in '96. All I remembered was VADER SMASH! and that this guy's WWF run was gonna be awesome. And then reality ensued.
sek69
Also should be noted that Rockin Robin who is Jake's half sister claims Grizzly molested her when she was a kid and supposedly told Howard Brody that the family thinks Grizzly was involved in the murder Jake talks about of another family member (sister?) on both Beyond the Mat and his DVD. Grizzly's first marriage produced Jake and Jocelyn (I think that was her name) who is the sister who was murdered, his second marriage produced Robin and Mike (Sam Houston). Grizzly being involved in the murder seems to be one of those things everyone seems to either believe or at least thinks is possible, so who knows. Jake wanting to be a success in wrestling just to throw it in his father's face is an interesting story all by itself as well.
Dan
Dave on the TNA PPV: All that hype and the big surprise is Tommy Dreamer. Dixie, the girl who cried Desmond one too many times. To steal a quote: *big ass laugh*
sek69
Except Dixie only mentioned a million times on Twitter that the big surprise wasn't happening on the PPV, but Dave was too busy kicking his dog over Daniel Bryan to notice.
Dan
Yeah, now that I think of it, Keller mentioned that a few days ago. But still, as a "nice surprise," Dreamer still ranks pretty low.
El-P
Tommy Dreamer ? In 2010 ? The fat JTTS guy who had an office job in WWE for the last 8 years ? Dixie never fail to deliver. At least bring back Raven and let them work some elaborate old man feud, I'm sure Levy could come up with some good twisted storyline stuff.... rovert
I'm sure Levy could come up with some good twisted storyline stuff.... Or he'll make a nonsensical cryptic promo that goes over everyone’s head. Likely referring his and his opponents mysterious past which is ultimately never explained. jdw
The tricky thing about Jake-Grizzly is that it's Jake, and 90% of the stuff out of his mouth is bullshit. While I'm sure there's a level of "everyone in wrestling tells this story so it must be true" feelings behind it, who knows how much of it's from stories Jake originally started and folks have forgotten where it came from. The "rape the 12 year old daughter of the grandmother and the being forced to marry her" doesn't really pass the laugh test. John
Al
If marriage were involved, wouldn't they have produced a marriage certificate? How difficult would it be for someone to check on that?
BruiserBrody
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x7diot_lo...nio-inoki_sport Any WON readers from the time know how this match came about? Inoki had his "Final Countdown" series ongoing, which I think was a big draw for New Japan, and here he's tossed in a mid card bout on WCW TV

Inoki had his "Final Countdown" series ongoing, which I think was a big draw for New Japan, and here he's tossed in a mid card bout on WCW TV From Dave's review of Bash at the Beach '94: "The Inoki deal is a favor to Hogan, since Inoki gave Hogan his first superstar break back in 1980, before Hogan reached that level in the United States." That was also why they pulled Sting from his match with Regal at BATB, because Regal needed to win cleanly to set up his match with Inoki and he wasn't about to go over Sting clean. John Everyone keeps saying all the stories are coming from Jake, but didn't Robin also tell stories about her father too? Besides which, when people say Grizzly "raped" Jake's mom, are we talking "rape-rape" (TM Whoopi Goldberg) or just statutory rape? This was the 1950s, and girls at 12/13 having kids and getting married wasn't that uncommon in certain parts of the south. Jerry Lee Lewis, anyone? I don't think it's that hard to believe, even from Jake, especially when, as noted, you've got a daughter saying Grizzly molested her. Now look at this: http://www.f4wonline.com/content/view/13704/105/ I could have sworn that when this was first posted, it had a line about Grizz's "propensity for young girls" but that's not there now. Did anyone else see that and was it edited, or am I nuts and imaging things?
