sek69
And JR's face last week when Regal replaced him with Adamle. Genius. I wonder with the new WWE "get people talking with SHOCKING non sequitor moments" policy if JR knew ahead of time. He either wasn't told or he did the best sell job RAW has seen in ages. Him sitting there stewing was GOLD.

Him sitting there stewing was GOLD. I'm pretty sure it was a work. The exchange afterwards: Lawler: God, I missed you. JR: I was gone for only one match. Lawler: Yeah, but thank God you're back. or something like that sold it to me. Just felt like it was part of the program all along. That being said, yeah, JR's speechless selling was fun. Ryan Faulconer
Wow, usually it takes a lot more for than that for me to get "FUCK YOU" PMs from Gabe.I always wondered why Gabe moderated his own company's message board. I thought it was because there was just so few people working for the company that he had to. Now we know it is because he is fragile like an egg...at times that least call for it. There has been so much worse written about him over there. I could see most other bookers snapping and doing similar things if they flew too close to the sun or moderated their own promotion's message board. It is really a recipe for disaster...although Gabe should get special consideration for snapping for no good reason at all. It just feels so random...like Gabe has Tourette syndrome or something and he couldn't hold it back any longer.

MikeCampbell
I've got my own theory on Gabe's short fuse dealing with criticisim, not just in this case, but from his past appearances on shows like WOL, and my own few dealings with him. He thinks he's some sort of modern day Paul Heyman, and you'd never see any ECW fans daring to question the booking decisions of Heyman. So therfore Gabe thinks he should be as equally infallable. Of course I don't think there was an official ECW message board with ECWPaul as the moderator either. I also think Ben's assesment was pretty much spot on. ROH has always tried to be known for all it's great workrate matches with all their MOTYCs and snowflakes galore. Gabe himself has even said that he doesn't beleive in road agents and just let's the wrestlers call things in the ring. So really, what's that leave him to do? Just to tell The Briscoes and Jacobs/Necro that they've got 20 mintues and that Briscoes are going over? EDIT: Not even that much. The Joe/Punk shoot interview states that they called Gabe and told him they were doing a draw in their first title match. And that they decided how long their 3rd title match was going to go. So Gabe did even less.
WrestlingPower
I can appreciate the point behind the Gabe debate and it is pretty uncalled for to put in print telling a potential customer to F off in no uncertain terms. But in the wrestling business of the past few years, a booker who does just stay out of the way and not mess things up is very hard to find. Just the fact that he gets stuff that can work and doesn't screw things up majorly with overbooking puts him in the upper echelon of bookers these days. Eh, I guess it depends on what everyone considers to be the traits of a good booker. Not screwing things up is a plus, but a big one for me is keeping all the storylines, angles, feuds, whatever happening in a logical manner. Which is where I think ROH is a bit faulty, but not always. I loved how they had Davey Richards cut a small, seemingly meaningless, promo saying he's getting people to watch his back, and then a couple of months later the NRC forms. But by the same token, would Strong have helped start the NRC if him and Aries won the ROH Tag Titles? Also the "decison match" between Jay/Aries and ATOF was just a waste seeing as they were vacating them in the first place. Why not just vacate them on the heels of Mark's injury and not make the match a waste?

Dear Mr. Cox is correct. I am in fact a "black" teen, and I do in fact, lurk at this board, my hipness I did not believe was in question, as I only meant to alert our dearest of SLL's that I do in fact post on this board (sparingly). I'm sorry if I have offended any of your partially black family members or the dozens upon dozens of negro acquaintances you may or may not have. I lacks the sophisticationz you see . . . I can appreciate the point behind the Gabe debate and it is pretty uncalled for to put in print telling a potential customer to F off in no uncertain terms. Just the fact that he gets stuff that can work and doesn't screw things up majorly with overbooking puts him in the upper echelon of bookers these days. I wrote this not 24 hours after the "FUCK YOU" post. The best thing Gabe's done is that ROH is not TNA. I know that sounds all dumb and backhanded, but really it's the best compliment you can give. For all of Gabe's booking "faux pas" none of them have actually been fundamentally BAD booking per se. Sure maybe it would have been nice to have Steenerico win the title, or for IDK, Nigel to win earlier or whatever people go on and on about, but realistically these aren't booking decisions that seem to have hurt ROH at it's core. Everything in ROH makes sense, for the most part, and the storylines while perhaps taking a little bit of explaining are solidly backed, and are logical. It's easy to see how good a booker Gabe is when you see how wreteched that show on Thursday nights is. Also, in 2006, ROH was easily the best booked company in the world. So yeah, I gave Gabe his due too, it wasn't like I was totally discrediting him.

My apologies, Ben. You're black so it's an OK term for you, right? Gabe did "apologize" and to be quite frank, if a bunch of social lepers are going to commiserate and gang up against someone it might as well be him with his shitty track record.
