Bix
If it is true that Beth Phoenix is pregnant, WWE better be careful how they handle it. Last I heard, Dawn Marie's wrongful termination suit against WWE was still pending.I think it was settled.
ohtani's jacket
I gotta take back what I said about Heenan awhile back. I've been watching a ton of WCW with the Smarkschoice poll running down and he really wasn't that bad, at least in his first year with WCW. Jingus
I've been watching a ton of dying-days WCW with our We Watch Shitty WCW Club at the new TSM board. By the late 90s, Heenan utterly did not care, totally going through the motions. Wasn't even attempting to be a heel most of the time, which is probably the best indicator of how little effort he was giving. He might as well have just recorded a tape of banal wisecracks, left it in a walkman at the announce table and had Schiavone push PLAY every once in a while. Â ...that being said, even Bobby at his most apathetic was a thousand kinds of better than Mark frigging Madden, whom said Shitty WCW Club is teaching me to hate even more now than I did back then. And listening to various interviews with Bobby describing his experience in the company, it's not hard to forgive him for going on half-tanked autopilot and taking the easy money. MikeCampbell
Bobby Heenan used to be the highlight on WCW Thunder. He always had to read the preview of whatever movie was on TBS afterwards, and it was usually pretty funny.

Sean Liska
I gotta take back what I said about Heenan awhile back. I've been watching a ton of WCW with the Smarkschoice poll running down and he really wasn't that bad, at least in his first year with WCW. Bobby was pretty good in his first year or two of WCW. Spring Stampede 94 is one of my all-time favorite PPVs and I thought him and Tony added a lot to the show. Â It seemed to me that Bobby lost his place a little bit with the NWO angle. Because of the nature of the NWO, he couldn't be a heel announcer anymore during their matches and angles, and that took away a lot of his schtick. Bobby as a face announcer lamenting the evils of the lead heel faction didn't work. Of course, he later got pissed off and stopped caring and it didn't matter what was going on. Isaacduke
Don't forget that another reason he had to stick anti-NWO was because Hogan was the leader. When Hogan turned, Bobby just screamed, "I TOLD YOU! I'VE BEEN TELLING YOU ALL FOR YEARS!"
khawk20
7/8/82. Â Sadly, only 8 minutes are available. They (High Flyers vs. Strike Force) rematched on 8/29/82 in St. Paul. Almost the entire match is available for that one (sans the opening 5-7 minutes). Another classic, not as frantic as the 8 minutes of the first bout but it's great action. The ending is really stiff. When Hogan turned, Bobby just screamed, "I TOLD YOU! I'VE BEEN TELLING YOU ALL FOR YEARS!"Honestly? To me, that was the best part of the Hogan heel turn. Hearing Heenan basically say, "I've been telling you people forever that Hogan is a dickhead." was so much fun.
sek69
As someone who never was a fan of Hulkamania, it was one of my personal favorite moments in wrestling when Heenan was finally vindicated for hating him all those years.

Loss
I was at Night of Champions in Philly, and it's amazing how the make-up of the crowds is so different now than it was just a few years ago. The place was filled with families, especially kids wearing the Jeff Hardy arm things, Rey masks, and Cena shirts. Just sitting in the audience and looking around made it obvious why Vince laughed a writer out of the room recently when he suggested Cena turn heel. Loss
I should also add that there sure were a lot of empty seats for a show that was "sold out" ... Â
Dylan Waco
Did the crowd come off as dead live as it did on tv?
Loss
For a lot of the show yes, but Punk, Rey, Hardy, Cena, and Orton all got superstar reactions, with Punk's promo getting more heat than anything all night. HHH got very polite applause. I think the kids watching now cheer him because they know they're supposed to, but I don't get the sense they really care about him that much. Â Also, the dark match got over live. I think it was opening the show with a heel versus heel match, that probably should have been worked more as two teams trying to outcheat the other than having Jericho default to FIP, that killed the crowd. Â But sometimes I don't know what show Dave and Bryan are watching. The six-way wasn't any more or less heated than most of the other matches, and people knew who the Smackdown and ECW wrestlers were.

Just sitting in the audience and looking around made it obvious why Vince laughed a writer out of the room recently when he suggested Cena turn heel. I was at the show too and noticed the same thing, but I didn't think it was any different from a Raw/Smackdown taping I attended three years ago. The days of the hardcore Philly fanbase going to WWF/WCW shows certainly seem to be over, those fans just aren't coming to WWE shows anymore. Â I thought the Cryme Tyme/Hart Dynasty match might have been the best match of the show, just a nice simple formula tag team match. I think Cryme Tyme are really underrated, JTG does a good job selling for the heat and Shad takes a great hot tag. They have a few good, recognizable spots and they always seem to be over. Fortunately, it seems that they're going to be locked in a Best of 51 series with the Hart Dynasty on Smackdown, so that should be fun to watch play out over the next several months. Dylan Waco
I'm not a Cryme Tyme fan at all, but when I saw them work a house show here two weeks back, they had the second best match of the night, on a card that included Regal v. Finlay and Ricky Steamboat working underneath.
tigerpride
I was also at Night of Champions. I heard the show was a legit sellout, and it didn't look like there were as many empty seats to me. Â The crowd did seem dead for much of the night, but some of the pops for the big guys was insane.
Jkeats
I've thought, for a little while now, that JTG has something. His movement is really fluid. I hate the gimmick but even if they altered it a little bit he might be someone the could do something with as a singles down the line.
Guest Kenta Batista
JTG is the man. He is really impressive in the ring and will have a 'life' after Cryme Tyme. I don't know if the same can be said about Shad. I always wanted to see a Killings/JTG pairing as a tag team. Those two together would make an AMAZING heel tag team as their styles in the ring (and in fashion) compliment each other they can could be MAJOR heat magnets, or they can remain face and still get the crowd to pop and would most likely be the most over tag team in WWE.  Just finished watching Impact and Don West once again stands out. His comments during the Tara sitdown interview were great.  Tara: I’m in the best shape of my career - I didn’t just go home and eat Bon Bons.  DW: Nothing wrong with Bon Bons every now and then! Log
Odd question...if you're a jobber that gets a shot on WWE TV, and you get injured, are you protected in any way (like financially)? Are you just shit-outta-luck? The dudes that have been getting destroyed by Koslov and Ezekial made me wonder this.
Loss
Well, there was the Chuck Austin case in '94, where he ended up taking a bad rocker dropper from Marty Jannetty and the WWF had to pay out a big settlement.
Guest Kenta Batista
That guy got paid WAY too much money. I wouldn't be surprised if Vince and his lawyers wrote something up that says 'WWE is not responsible for any injury whether minor or fatal, that may occur during or as the result of a match." Legal speak for everything Log said.
