Did you see that History Channel documentary about Hitler? He cut a promo better than 90% of the WWE roster, and his gimmick name of "Der Fuhrer" is a big hit online. If Zane Bresloff were alive today, he'd be using him on local house shows out here. This guy was tailor made as a 1960s/1970s pro wrestling heel.

I really didn't want to invoke Hitler but he came to mind when I needed to come up with someone in real life who...ummm..."cut great heel promos."

But anyway:

- I'm sick of the "relate everything to wrestling" stuff and this was by far the worst of them (even worse than "King of Kong").

- It was a racially motivated fight on a bus involving a mentally ill old man that caused a verbal race war on one of the most popular sites on the internet. People need to have some perspective as to why it's not OMG WACKY, plus I bet I could find lots of mentally ill people off their meds who "cut great heel promos." "King Curtis great did promos based on his LSD-induced hallucinations and this homeless guy I see at the subway station is compelling when he rants about his hallucinations so he's a great pro wrestling promo."

Agreed. That's when you know you're thinking way too much about wrestling. Our asshole president Nicolas Sarkozy could be a great heel manager now that I think of it. But yet, it never crossed my mind. It's like people who talk about "heeling up" or "not selling" about other thing than wrestling. Wrestling fans are one of a kind breed sometimes...

Helena MT: February 9, 1938

(Auditorium) ... (Mud Match) Cy Burns beat Young Hitler (2-1)

Salt Lake City

03/10/1940 Joe Parelli beat George Wilson, Del Kunkel beat Ted Christy, Wally Thompson & Al Newman beat Leo Papiano & Leo Kirilenko, Vardy Cutler beat Martin Zykoff, Jacques Eku beat Adolph Hitler

As always the wrestling business has already done what whacky ideas we have nowadays

Very tangentially related to the above post but on the topic of pro wrestling creating heels to reflect political 'enemies' at the time, we've all seen various (kayfabed mostly) Russian, Arab, Japanese, Iranian, German, Korean etc heels but I've always wondered whether there were ever any 'Vietnamese' heels during or just after the war. I know there was the Vietcong express in Calgary in the 80s years after the fact but at the time of the war was anyone doing a Vietnam gimmick? Or is there an unwritten rule that if you are defeated or being defeated by the 'enemy' and the war is unpopular then a fictional victory in a wrestling ring isn't appropriate? Unless there is someone obvious I am missing? Just find it interesting that wrestling has always aimed to crudely reflect society in black and white terms, yet Vietnam seems to have been a taboo gimmick despite it's relevance and wrestling's history of foreign heels.

Actually any politician would do that generates a passionately positive or negative reaction for a speech they do. For example, I'm crazy enough to watch Question Time, a BBC live debate show with British politicians, and think that Margaret Beckett came across as a great patrician Cruella De Vil style heel when explaining how she mistakenly claimed £600 for plants and her refusal to repay £72,000 of second home allowance she claimed while living in a grace and favor flat. I'm not crazy enough to think that qualifies her to host Raw, realizing that just makes her a crappy politician. The extreme right wing BNP leader Nick Griffin generated more passionate heel heat for his appearance on Question Time than probably any wrestling match last year. That doesn't mean he should become a wrestler either.

Did Dave/Bryan even watch the video? Because I'm not sure I'd want that video being on my site as an example of a great promo with similar racism to the type they'd criticize if Hunter was doing the promo directed to Booker T. I can see Bryan being so dumb that he'd mark out for something like this, but I don't think Dave would be so stupid. More drug induced emotional breakdowns in interviews are the last thing we need to return to wrestling.

Here's an enigmatic statement from a recent update:

--Ted DiBiase & brother Brett DiBiase will be inducting Ted Sr. into the Hall of Fame. Hopefully they also allow Mike.

Do I read this as....

A. Dave/Bryan forgot that Brett DiBiase is Mike DiBiase?

B. There's a third DiBiase sibling that nobody alerted me to?

C. Dave/Bryan is hoping/expecting that Ted Sr.'s father Mike will get a surprise induction at the same time he does?

D. Dave/Bryan is hoping/expecting that Ted Sr.'s father Mike will rise from the grave to help induct his son?

I can't wait to see the reaction to Wendi Richter inducted into the HOF. I guess they wanted to have a "legendary diva" able to make random TV appearances since Moolah died and Mae is not going to be around forever (even if it seems that way).

Still, I wonder which reaction will be strongest: the usual "No wimmens should be in the HOF" argument or the "how can she be in before *name of guy who's on the outs with Vince and would obviously never accept induction*, that's an outrage!"

Richter even used "She Bop" as entrance music for a little while. At the very least she used it for her match on the 1st SNME.

I wonder what prompted them to reach out to her after all this time. You'd think they would have done it when they were in Texas. I guess it was just another example to show the current roster that everyone comes back to Vince eventually.

Wasn't that for the Battle Royal, not the Hall Of Fame? I see that Todd Martin has already called her a joke pick. :)
