sek69
I'm guessing the hope is by then enough vaccinations will be in place to reduce the risk, but having a live crowd in a stadium in 2021 (in Florida!) seems like an unnecessary gamble. If you don't give a fuck about employee's or customer's safety it seems like a safe bet to me. Florida would be the safe bet to allow the most people inside a stadium during a pandemic. They just had 15,000 people in The Hard Rock Stadium for the National Championship game last week! So why wouldn't WWE expect to be allowed 30,000+ at Raymond James Stadium for Wrestlemania 3 months from now?
sek69
That's all true, but WWE doesn't have the juice the NCAA or NFL has in terms of being able to put fans in the stands with little to no backlash. Especially with the company no longer having any political leverage by the time Mania rolls around. Ironically Vince better hope the new administration goes door to door with vaccinations to make sure it won't blow up in their faces. Pterois
Wrestling is not what it used to be with an empty arena. I hope there will be big crowds by this summer. Remember covid-19 is not the cause of all this shit, it's the lockdown and social distancing.

El-P
The reptilians ? Fuck, they should do a Reptilians tag team in NXT. As far as running a Stadium show in the spring of this year... yeah, seems like a stretch. WrestleKingdom had about 13.000 people I believe, but it's Tokyo (just before the situation worsened). This sounds like ClusterMania to me...
NintendoLogic
That video was cringe as hell. HHH may not be as scatologically obsessed as Vince, but his sense of humor might be even worse.
El-P
Even back in the DX days, HHH always struck me as the kind of guy who thinks he's funnier than he actually is. Which is always the worst kind and often gets cringe because of it. (there's something pretty similar to be said about his actual wrestling and promo abilities too of course, it's one and the same in term of overrating yourself)

As it was indeed their biology reacting to the baby blood they drank in that pizza place that caused Covid-19, and thus we have lockdowns and social distancing preventing some folks from enjoying wrestling like they used too. It's probably also the reason that Triple H isn't funny.

KawadaSmile
Reptilucha is Luchasaurus' next gimmick change. Being an evil being from the underground set to conquer the surface via human disguise is much more interesting than "huuuh i'm 65 million years old huuuh" and it would get good heat because people believe in that much like people believed the undertaker was dead all along

Migs
I actually think they'll be okay, assuming they limit capacity to roughly what the NFL teams have. There's just no evidence of significant outbreaks from outdoor events. I wouldn't test a full capacity, non-distanced show, but I don't think it's nuts to put 15-20,000 in an outdoor stadium that seats 60-70,000. (The bigger risks for attendees are the travel to get to Tampa, and potentially any indoor indy shows that happen in the area.)
SirEdger
I'm assuming that WWE will closely monitor what the NFL does for the Super Bowl in 2 weeks to plan their protocols and configuration accordingly.
cm funk
It'll be interesting. There still might not be much live entertainment and sports come March/April, I could see some people who aren't big fans going just because they're starved for something to do, and I'm sure they'll bring in some big names from the past and some celebs and musical guests. That might actually be a bigger draw for them this year than it would be in a normal one. But they won't get the typical foreigners traveling here, a lot of people are still struggling financially, and far less people will be willing to come from say New York or California if it means they have to quarantine for 10 days when they go home. Combine that with the product being as cold as it's been in years I'm not even sure they can draw much more than 10k or so. As far as coivd goes, I think the travel is more of a concern than a well spaced out, far under capacity outdoor stadium with strict rules in place and hopefully we get a much better vax rollout when Biden takes over. You know a lot of people will be much more willing to go out and do things if they've got the jab, even if it's just the first one, it's human nature at this point. But then there's also the spread of more contagious variants to worry about, and if we're following the trend of still rising cases other countries have had things could look really bad in Florida in a few months....... I feel like comparing it to WrestleKingdom is apples and oranges when you look at the size of Japan and population density of Tokyo, how they've handled Covid compared to the USA, and that unlike WWE NJPW was actually a fairly hot product before the pandemic
sek69
At this stage, Mania would draw well no matter how ice cold WWE gets. A 100,000 seater like Dallas might be a stretch, but going to Wrestlemania is still a bucket list item for most wrestling fans and I'm pretty sure they'll get 50-60,000 no matter what the company poops out. Also I think Wrestle Kingdom *could* have been a fair comparison. Running a socially distanced show in a city as large and densely populated as Tokyo could have been seen as proof running a open stadium show could be done safely....had Vince's BFF done even the bare minimum to try to contain things. Even Alanis Morisette would have to apricate that irony. Did anyone else see were Roman said he wanted to face the Rock at WM 39 in LA? Seems like it would be the logical end game of the Tribal Chief gimmick, and it would be one Official Wrestlemania Moment that wouldn't get changed at the last second. Hell, if they kick it off at the Raw after Mania this year it could get the Hogan -Savage year long build and be the mega event they could use to fill out a monster stadium like Dallas legit (or as legit as WWE sellouts get). Al
TBH there's so little supply in live entertainment that anything that can hold fans is going to draw, initially. Whether it should of course is another matter. I suspect there will come a point later where people start pinching their pennies and get more choosy about what they spend their money on. cm funk
https://www.f4wonline.com/wwe-news/wwe-still-undecided-top-wrestlemania-37-matches-330986 Quote Inside WWE, the plan looks to be to put 30,000 people in the building both nights. If the Super Bowl puts in more, they’ll likely put in more. But that was the legit goal as of early in the week. What they’ll announce is anyone’s guess. The shows will likely be four-and-a-half hours with the first match going in the ring at 5:30 p.m. and the targeted ending at 10 p.m. The Tokyo Dome did two five hour shows. The second day was tough, as it was last year, and as it was to a degree with WrestleMania last year, but in the long run it was the best for all concerns. Right now it doesn’t look like that will be the plan going forward, but two shows at four-and-a-half hours leads to better matches and longer matches and higher quality shows than one at seven. Plus there is more money to be made. In the past you could argue it would break tradition or it just wouldn’t work, but New Japan has proven two years running that it does. 30k on both nights??! Meanwhile the Super Bowl..... Quote In relation to one of the articles in the new issue of the Observer, the NFL announced today that it will put 14,500 tickets on sale for the Super Bowl at Raymond James Stadium, and will also give 7,500 tickets to vaccinated healthcare workers from hospitals in Central Florida and also the NFL teams will send vaccinated healthcare workers from their cities to the game.
