Now somebody needs to talk to him about his ring gear. It looks like a bad spandex superhero outfit, or a leotard with a speedo covering it, with half a fringe vest stapled to his butt. It’s distractingly weird. EDIT: I just figured it out…he’s wearing part of Colton Gunn’s tights over top of his own, so his gear matches Austin Gunn. It still looks really odd. Quote
sek69 Posted August 1 Report Posted August 1 Holy hell, Dustin went above and beyond what I was expecting him to do putting over Kyle. Quote
MoS Posted August 1 Report Posted August 1 Hangman-Mox rematch was great, did a really good job of being different from their previous one(s) while maintaining quality. They are generally doing a much better job of booking Hangman as the ace this time around, and he is rising to the occasion too. If MJF maintains his end of the deal, the imminent Hangman-MJF feud (after Briscoe gets a one-off title shot) should be excellent Quote
Big Pete Posted August 2 Report Posted August 2 I thought Hangman-Moxley was plodding and sloppy. It was like they were trying to re-create Suzuki-Tanahashi from 2012 instead of having their own match. Moxley hits not one but two devastating Gotch Style Piledrivers and instead of the babyface being in peril and really selling the urgency it's just a transition spot - a simple effect DDT would have achieved the exact same thing. I thought the best thing either guy did was Hangman's lariat on Moxley. It popped the crowd and looked great - otherwise it was just a modern 'let's get our stuff in' match. The actual highlight was the balcony dive from Darby onto the Death Riders and that was the biggest take-away since that will be the Death Riders feud moving forward. Otherwise I think Forbidden Door is building nicely. MJF/Hangman, Swerve/Okada, Storm/Athena, Death Riders/Darby + Pals, Tag Action etc. I just hope they can find something for Mark Briscoe to do. They've invested two main event slots into him now, it'd be a shame if he was just a lamb to the slaughter. Quote

I saw a Youtube link but it was members only, and I can't seem to find it again on the promotion's page. But it sure is somewhere. They sure did a tremendous slow build during that Chicago residency toward an incredible last week. Both Mox vs Hangman and Dustin vs Kyle were great matches that did the unthinkable in making the crowd actually think Mox was gonna win again and Dustin was gonna keep the title, when there was really no chance of either happening. I will miss that funky old ballroom. Hopefully they go back. Can't wait until the 2300 residency (apparently they are gonna recreate the old entrance) Hearing this old WCW early 90's cheese theme song was something. The Young Bucks getting no entrance and empty graphics is hilarious. They are just the best. And yeah, they made the Outrunners look ten times better than they actually are, as expected. I would totally have Briscoe defeat MJF. But I don't think it's happening sadly. At best I can see MJF using his contract to turn it into a three-way (which would mean Briscoe still losing in the end). Briscoe needs *that* big win, somewhere. Dunno where and what it consists of. Maybe the C2 this year ? Forbidden Door already has some great stuff lined up. But it's not very ForbiddenDoorish thus far. Like, at all. The G1 running during the build totally hurt the interpromotional aspect of it, which honestly has lost quite of bit of its luster for obvious reasons. In the end I guess there will still be some cool match-up plus the London crowd will be molten (ZSJ has to be there, right ?). Hopefully a Micheal Oku match somewhere (give him a dual contract too) and a Syuri match (Mercedes ?). Quote
Boss Rock Posted August 3 Report Posted August 3 Dustin-Kyle basically clinched a spot for Dustin on my GWE ballot. I agree Mark should go over MJF. Page-MJF seems more like an All Out match. There's no reason they can't do Mark-Page at Forbidden Door and MJF either gets a few more wins under his belt or announces he's using his contract at All Out. And not only that, but when you call the face a joke and mascot during a feud, the face pretty much has to go over or else they lose credibility. Quote
El-P Posted August 3 Author Report Posted August 3 Let's be real though. Hangman vs Briscoe is not a PPV world title match. Because there's zero chance Briscoe is winning. He does not have the credibility, even if he beats MJF next week. That would be a great TV world title match for sure. Also, with Dustin being written off for the time being (and really, at 56, can he get back from *this* match ?), hopefully we can end the ridiculousness of he Von Erich holding those ROH trios titles (and really, those titles themselves) after being gone for ever and only showing back up for the Texas shows ? Also, poor Sammy though. I'm guessing they do another tag tournament culminating at Death Before Dishonor in late August. Gotta say something about the women lately. They really have been kicking up a notch on all these TV matches. Not sure where this is leading to, but it has to lead somewhere. Some already are asking for a Blood and Guts match. Quote
El-P Posted August 7 Author Report Posted August 7 The ending of MJF vs Briscoe was maybe a little bit too "cute" (as was the "Briscoe can't hit his elbow", which really never built to a huge pop nor a great near fall when he actually did it) and it made the ref look like an idiot (probably one if not the worst habit of even the best pro-wrestling currently), but I'm guessing it's still a program in process between the two of them. As I see it, Briscoe helps Hangman win at Forbidden Door (which kinda protects MJF), leading to a bloodbath at All Out with Briscoe winning this time. I would love Briscoe to go all the way in the CC this year. Apart from that, great episode, pretty much. Mox vs Speedball, Max & Jeremy (because of course) vs Brodido. The heating up of both women's title matches at Forbidden Door. Mercedes look ridiculous with all these belts, as she SHOULD. Tell me it's Athena beating Toni and then Mercedes vs Athena for ALL THE GOLD EVER at All Out. It needs to be ! Swerve cut one hell of a promo, and I loved Renee being Renee all night long. Quote
sek69 Posted Sunday at 12:23 AM Report Posted Sunday at 12:23 AM Ishii is such a great choice for Kyle's first title defense. A banger of an opener for Collision. Damn. Now I WANT To see this. Yeah, Ishii vs Kyle was a G1 match not happening at the G1. Would love him vs Takagi. Or Taichi. That main event surely gave me the urge to have a big Hangman vs Rush match. For a match against non-luchadors, Dralistico was certainly on. It's crazy to think 6 years ago he was under the Mistico mask at Arena Mexico. Max Caster babyface turn confirmed. Not sure how you go with this, although the big pop is probably him getting a win over, ya know who. But then what ? And what for Bowens ? Not always easy to go on after a successful tag team run. I was hoping for Ospreay vs ZSJ, but I would settle for ZSJ vs Nigel (or another Hechicero match, but it's less unique now and would get over better in either RevPro or CMLL, really). Quote
Blehschmidt Posted Monday at 07:50 PM Report Posted Monday at 07:50 PM At this point I really feel like they should just put The Acclaimed back together. Bowens has floundered, and Caster has really only gotten being a loser over through sheer force of will and it has taken over a year to do it. They were better off together. I also miss Caster shitting on Trump. Quote
El-P Posted Monday at 08:17 PM Author Report Posted Monday at 08:17 PM I feel that eventually that will happen. Let have them work this new heel/babyface dynamic and at one point, the people will want that Acclaimed reunion. It's basically what happened with the New Age Outlaws, and the Acclaimed is the closest thing to the NAO that ever happened (except they are a much better in-ring working team). Unless one of them just decides to leave (Anthony Bowens could do well in TNA if they aren't complete idiots about it, which, well, TNA, ya know, but he has no shot in WWE after that point (for many obvious reasons)). I do love that Jane's Addiction track though. Quote
Matt D Posted Tuesday at 06:55 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 06:55 PM I’d like to see a three month JetSpeed vs Bowens/Garcia feud with the latter frustrated that the fans decided to back the former. Quote
El-P Posted Wednesday at 09:28 PM Author Report Posted Wednesday at 09:28 PM After winning that longest match ever (21 hours plus) on Mystery Wrestling, AEW needs to get Stu Grayson back (and use him WELL). He's just that great. (no I haven't watched the entire thing, but I saw parts with OC, Speedball & Veda Scott, Dalton Castle, Johnny TV showing up to guest announce and it was super cool) Quote
C.S. Posted yesterday at 04:35 AM Report Posted yesterday at 04:35 AM Just gonna say what needs to be said here: It should be Christian's picture and name first in this graphic. Christian has been in AEW longer than Copeland. Christian is a far bigger star in AEW than Copeland. Christian has always been a better wrestler, entertainer, and personality than Copeland, period. Quote
NotJayTabb Posted yesterday at 07:51 AM Report Posted yesterday at 07:51 AM Given that one of those 4 men hasn't won a televised match in nearly 2 years, I wonder who's taking the pin. Quote
El-P Posted 21 hours ago Author Report Posted 21 hours ago Yeah, that Cope/Christian thingy has not been handled very well thus far. Doesn't help I have zero attachement to them as a team for obvious reasons. I for one will be glad when all of this is over and done with. And yeah, that match really doesn't look PPV worthy, especially on Forbidden Door when there is already not that much Forbidden Doorish stuff. No idea what Copeland was thinking asking "Is there any hoes in this crowd" into asking a women if she would go with Stokely. Like, WTF man ? 😂 Speaking of which, Ospreay getting in a cage match with the Deathriders (and... the Bucks ?!) next is kinda insane after he told about his injury. And broken Tanahashi being a part of it even more, really. Omega & Ibushi ? Gabe Kidd (returning from injury after he missed the G1) I did not see that one coming, but holy hell. Disrespected Young Bucks is absolutely hilarious. These guys are just genius at this game. HIROMU ! I was halfway expecting/hoping for him. With G1 still running, it was obvious it was gonna be a junior. Despy would have been cool too. The size difference will make for some fun interactions. Did not expect a vignette with Jay-Jay Johanson for Hook, that's for sure. The MJF vs Hangman page promo segment was super compelling. I feel like there's a babyface turn for MJF at the end of the road somewhere. Quote
Blehschmidt Posted 15 hours ago Report Posted 15 hours ago I'm really hoping Justin Roberts can sell that superkick and be off TV for at least a decade. Quote
El-P Posted 26 minutes ago Author Report Posted 26 minutes ago And so Ace Austin is All Elite. Interview with Alicia Atout on social media, confronted by Ricochet. It's been confirmed the guy has signed. Love it. Another of my former TNA favorites from the last past years on AEW ! Great signing. Young, terrific worker, good look to boot. Can go heel or babyface. The hardest part will be to stand out in *that* roster, but he's exactly the kind of talent fit for AEW. Quote
