They key is that Hogan's never wrestled in Australia before, on top of Celebrity Wrestling ending its run there now in what's apparently a much smaller TV universe.

Yeah he has. The WWF ran at least one tour in the 80s, right after Mania 2 iirc. I've got a tape here somewhere of Hogan cutting a promo with Mean Gene about Australia, saying it intrigued him because he'd never been there before.

Admittedly that's very nitpicky, and "Hogan hasn't wrestled in Australia in over twenty years" probably ends up with the same effect anyway.

WWF ran 4 Australian tours in 1986 and Hogan worked none of them

The February/March run of Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide, Newcastle, Sydney and Brisbane had Bob Bradley, "Mr X", Ted Arcidi, Matt Bourne, Tiger Chung Lee, Paul Roma, The Rougeau Brothers, The Moondogs, Don Muraco, Mr. Fuji, SD Jones, King Tonga, Andre The Giant and John Studd

The small April run of Perth, Melbourne and Sydney had Matt Bourne, George Skaaland, Paul Roma, Rene Goulet, SD Jones, Steve Lombardi, Sifi Afi, Hercules, Lanny Poffo, Tiger Chung Lee, Corporal Kirschner, Iron Shiek, Don Muraco, Mr. Fuji and Rick Steamboat.

A small July run of the same cities as the February/March run featured Jose Luis Rivera, Jim Young, Tony Atlas, Terry Gibbs, SD Jones, Paul Roma, Jimmy Jack Funk, Terry Funk, Bob Orton, George Steele, Corporal Kirschner, Nikolai Volkoff, Velvet McIntyre and Moolah

A September tour of the same cities as the last tour and including Launceston featured Sal Belomo, AJ Petruzzi, Gama Singh(!), Bob Bradley, Tonga Kid, Tiger Chung Lee, Sika, Jim Powers, SD Jones, Paul Roma, The Moondogs, Hillbilly Jim, Greg Valentine, Brutus Beefcake and Junkyard Dog

Really? That's weird, because I do have that promo on tape, and it stuck out in my mind because of Hogan talking about how neat it'll be to wrestle on a continent he's never been to before. Anyone know why he didn't go?

I have the '86 Australian tour promos tape that's in circulation and I'm sure Hogan's not on it. I remember being shocked at the lameness of the crew they were sending, heavily pushing Paul Roma and S.D. Jones as a tag team.

(BTW, that tape is a MUST for the wrestler Toyota commercials, as this is during the "What a feeling' or whatever ad campaign)

Well, Hogan wrestled in Austria in '93. Close enough.

No. Not at all. Sarcasm or not.

Anyways it appears joining Hogan & Flair on the tour will be Brutus Beefcake, The Nasty Boys, Ken Anderson, Val Venis, Umaga and The Godfather.

That Australian tour is nothing compared to the WWF's '91 tour of New Zealand.

Sivi Afi, Mad Dog of Baghdad, Royal Viking, The Angel of Death, Don Muraco, Jim Powers, The Genius, Koko B. Ware, Brooklyn Brawler, and the Nasty Boys vs. Bushwackers maineventing every town and city.

Was that even technically a WWF tour? Half of them weren't even in the WWF at the time.

Man... What an all star cast....

If at least you got the Sheepherders vs the Nasties instead, that would have been worthwhile, but as it is...

I called it over at the Other Arena a few weeks ago. He'll end up like Jim Barnett, being given a wage just because Vince McMahon feels sorry for him.

According to PWInsider, Flair is once again engaged.

It's really comical at this point. Whatever happens, he's asked for it.

How old is the bride, the question is.

I'd love to have Flair being engaged to Hulk's daughter....

What do you expect from a guy who spends money like he does, loves to get recovering addicts drunk, runs around naked in public while spinning his penis, looks up skirts to check if women have pubic hair so he knows whether or not to proposition them, etc.?
