Are we sure Dave isn't being sarcastic?

Meltz often has a deadpan sense of humour that flies right over the head of many people (many people simply don't get deadpan humour). In that case, he probably did not know about Shane being on jury duty, but the "Vince forgot about him" reeks of deadpan humour... Bryan's reaction was quite funny.

It was a clear reference to the jokes about how HHH replaced Shane as Vince's "real son" and how Shane's like the Tiffany Trump of the McMahon family.  Like El-P said, Dave has a pretty deadpan sense of humor and the people who want to play gotcha on Twitter with his words almost always fail to realize this.

Also that MeltzerSaidWhat account was one of the main things stoking the "Dave called Peyton Royce fat" kerfuffle when it was clear Dave was just trying to find a way to point out she was better in the ring before she got her main roster mandated boob upgrade. That whole feed is a hellscape of concern trolling and gotcha attempts.

There are some strange Meltzer obsessives on Twitter, MeltzerSaidWhat is the weirdest and most obsessive of the lot.

I thought I was in the minority.  Everyone seems to love him. Imo he's not nearly as funny as he thinks he is.

Dave should just take a loss on this jury duty story though

It is kind of weird though, you'd think someone like Shane would get out of jury duty since A: he's rich and B: you'd think lawyers on both sides would think having him on a jury would be a distraction (unless the rest of the juror pool was old ladies who've never heard of wrestling).

Dave told a story yesterday about going to wrestling shows as a kid and how Roy Shire's territory was a high workrate  territory and had some of the best workers of the day. He mentions talking to the Mexican kids he'd meet there and how they thought US wrestling looked so fake compared to lucha while Dave thought the opposite. He said it was a teaching moment for him where he learned the wrestling you grew up with is "real wrestling" and anything different looks fake by comparison.

The story was in context of the other day being Dave's 60th birthday and him explaining why he's more open to modern wrestling than a lot of other folks his age (*cough* Cornette *cough*).

That's really an enlightening story indeed. As far as older people being more open, I love the fact Tony Schiavone is saying that he's having more fun calling pro-wrestling now than ever before. The "senton atomico" exchange on Dynamite was pretty revealing I thought, as Tony really sounds like he's having a blast watching these 2020's kind of workers do crazy-ass shit and *learning* all those new moves' names and such. Who would have ever thought, of all those guys from the previous generation, Tony "Oh he hates pro-wrestling now.." Schiavone would be one of the most open to new stuff ?

Like it's been said before, if Conrad has to be commended for one thing, it's the rebirth of Tony Schiavone, great pro-wrestling announcer. Love it.

Another great show from Dave and Garrett talking about the Championship Wrestling from Florida DVD that Highspots put out. Interesting insight from Dave about how Eddie Graham was not a nice guy, how he seemed to get off on his shooters hurting people wanting to break into the business, and how he was involved in dealings with shady people that were about to come out when he shot himself (and also how he had to shoot himself twice to get the job done, holy fuck).  Really good segment, its always great when Dave gets into these deep historical dives.
