Puroresu vs Lucha Libre vs American Wrestling?

I don't dispute that. But Kobashi got a huge reaction at that show that he wouldn't have gotten if many of those people weren't already watching Japanese wrestling. -
Puroresu vs Lucha Libre vs American Wrestling?
Loss replied to blackholesun's topic in Pro Wrestling
Are there noticeably more people following Japanese wrestling post-ROH than were in the 80s and 90s? I'm not disagreeing as much as I am asking if that's really the case. Wrestling has more of a presence online so it's easier to track now, so who knows. I don't remember very many people talking about Japanese wrestling that much 2006-2009. -

Puroresu vs Lucha Libre vs American Wrestling?

Actually, Japanese pro wrestling has the following it does stateside because of Dave Meltzer and the WON. When he started the WON, Terry Funk told Dave he should follow and cover the Japanese scene because it was a good indicator of where business in the U.S. would eventually go. He fell in love with the style and started trading tapes and praising matches. Everything evolved from there. Perhaps that's why some people have jumped on board since the 2000s, but there have been plenty of Americans following Japanese wrestling since the 1980s. -
Let's make this more challenging. Which dream matches exist between guys currently wrestling full-time in the same promotion?

Because at literally anytime, decision makers in wrestling can have a moment of clarity and you can be treated to a great show. As long as that possibility exists, it's worth even halfway paying attention.

Crowd Sourcing: Long Jerry Lawler interview

I doubt if he would know. -
A childhood friend of mine used the word "profusely" (as in "bleeding profusely") in something he wrote in 5th grade. The teacher had never heard the word and questioned if it really existed.

That is a lot of he said, she said. In the future, let's try to only talk about stuff like this if it comes directly from the source. Thanks.

Yeah, I still don't get why Orton didn't tap at Mania. I think prior to that finish, Bryan vs Batista was the hottest post-WM feud they could do.

That specifically is the show I've been waiting for!

I'd be interested in hearing in his own words what makes a wrestler have longevity. What is the biggest difference between those who have it and those who don't? -
Also, they do plan to turn the Wyatts babyface, but not until The Shield turns on Reigns, because they don't want both groups as babyfaces at the same time. I think turning the Wyatts is a mistake. Bray isn't getting cheered because he's loved. He's getting cheered because he's feuding with Cena.

Please remember the forum rules. ROH is copyrighted material. Thanks.

It's only tough if you divide the 80s.

I'm more interested in how long the matches would go, how they'd be laid out and what the finishes would be. I'm also interested in how the show would be hyped. I get "no matter the cost", but give us the logical impetus for WWF talent appearing on a Crockett memorial. Interested in the details.

Before, easily. I'd miss out on a great 1997, but wrestling fell of a cliff after that in a lot of ways.

Nothing touches the "Excessive Force" DQ at Survivor Series 1988. The biggest proof possible that Hogan had everyone in the company on the take.

After dropping the title to Sting at the Great American Bash in 1990, he was never the same Ric Flair he was in the 1980s again. But he still had a few strong years in him. When Hogan retired him at Halloween Havoc '94, he dropped off in a big way upon his return in 1995. He still had value as a star and had occasional good matches after that, but no great singles matches. He dropped off as a character when jumping to the WWF when they had him do publicity photos mid-whoo, which looked amazingly stupid, and he was expected to wear his robe and wrestling gear even when he wasn't wrestling. But he rebounded upon returning to WCW and maintained it until 1995 when he cut his hair and they made his gimmick that he was a crazy old man. He had pockets of being good after that, but it was inconsistent.

I am catching up on RAW, but that opening segment is one of the greatest things I've ever seen. Totally awesome mindfuck of an angle that blew me away, and hopefully they have the balls to see it to its logical conclusion with a Cena turn.

The classic WONs lately are interesting. If you follow his run in real time, he was a pretty good house show and PPV draw, and Dave admits sympathy for him suddenly being declared a failure because ratings became the end-all, be-all when Nitro and Raw went head-to-head. So WCW was now perceived as the #1 group, even though TV ratings were the only category where they were beating the WWF.
