The girls did a great job opening the NXT show today, and holy shit I hope Tiffany Stratton is okay after taking that bump to the floor where everyone pretty much failed to catch her.

AEW TV 3/15-3/17 - Jade's Mystery Opponent, Max's Re-Bar Mitzvah
Blehschmidt replied to C.S.'s topic in AEW
I was just coming back to say exactly that. Boo on them for treating Nicole Matthews like a fucking scrub. They could have used anyone in that spot, and didn't need a well respected veteran with her level of talent to do a 2 minute TV job. Put her in there with Julia Hart or somebody where she can use all of that experience to help them get better. -
AEW TV 3/15-3/17 - Jade's Mystery Opponent, Max's Re-Bar Mitzvah

The opening segment was good, albeit a bit too cutesy and shooty, but at least it potentially gets some new blood in the title picture. The Cassidy/Jarrett match was well put together and enjoyable, and I've hated JJ since 1995 so that is quite a compliment coming from me! Toni Storm deserves so much better than this Outcasts shit. The angle sucks, Saraya is an albatross, and Ruby isn't over. This main event should be bat shit crazy! -
@The Thread Killer Thank You for summing that up. Doesn't sound like anything particularly egregious on Corny's end, and just a bunch of Twidiots losing their shit about nothing.

So, there is apparently some kind of to do about Riho shutting down her Twitter account, Cornette saying something on his podcast (maybe about Hana Kimura?) and Corny fans/AEW fans blaming each other that I am hoping someone here can explain without me actually having to read peoples tweets or listen to Cornette rant about AEW?

It's too bad they ended that Roxanne/Meiko match with the collapsing/stretcher angle. That was a pretty fantastic match, and it certainly didn't need that bullshit.

Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?
Blehschmidt replied to Loss's topic in Megathread archive
It has to be Abrams UWF. @GeneJackson95 and I just attempted a podcast of watching the whole run and after 12 episodes we are switching up the concept because we just can't take it. It is nothing but repetitive squash matches with the same talent over and over again that build to absolutely nothing, because there are no house shows or pay per views to build too. You have Abrams, Albano, and John Tolos screaming on nearly every episode, sometimes in mutiple segments and it's getting absolutely no one over. Then you have the utter garbage like Tony Halme as The Viking using an elbow drop to send guys out on a stretcher. Tolos claiming Dan Spivey is at his villa in Greece to cover the fact that he is in Japan and isn't coming back. Billy Jack Haynes cutting an interview againat Colonel Debeers where he claimed he was "babysat by black people" and was "fighting for the blacks and the orientals." Then you have the really famous stuff like Debeers vs the black referee, an angle which apart from being tasteless, is totally nonsensical, when you see how it's run. You also have the other referee that no sells the chair shots from Dr. Death and is lucky to be alive, footage that they would show multiple times for whatever reason!! Seriously, all of that! and that all happens in the first 12 episodes of the fucking show. It's amateur hour, and it only gets worse. Eventually they do get a PPV to build toward, but it only gets worse. So Yeah, that'd get my vote! -
I feel like Strickland would absolutely be fine on his own. But if they insist on him having lackeys, aren't those Bear Country guys still on the roster? They are big and can at least kind of work.

Riho and Emi Sakura had a pretty fun match on Rampage. The Dustin Rhodes/Keith Lee vs Shane Strickland/Parker Boudreaux main event was also pretty good.... despite Parker being an actively terrible wrestler, and him being absolutely dwarfed by both opponents killed any tough guy aura he may have projected.

Glad that Kommander got to hit all of his batshit ridiculous spots in his introduction to a mainstream audience. Now we need to get Arez out of his MLW deal and bring him in for one of these spotfests. Probably the best choice for a winner as well.
-
Say that again louder for the folks that didn't watch it. That match was fantastic.

I wish I had on my employer whatever Jay Lethal has on Tony Khan. I'd never fucking work again.

So MJF goes from being "ready to take a hand full of pills" to being jealous of Danielsons family to tormenting his children all in less than 5 minutes. This character has jumped the shark at this point and this guy obviously can't be trusted to come up with this own shit. Put the belt on Danielson and send him to WWE where they can reign this shit in.

That was a fire opener between Cassidy and Yuta. Definite shades of their Chikara training coming out in that one.

AEW TV - 15/2 - 17/2 - British date formatting in the thread title!!
Blehschmidt replied to Stiva's topic in AEW
I am not a fan of MJF and his weekly shooty, shooty, heel, heel promo's but the audible spit take from Taz when he mentioned "Five Star Bangers" was probably the highlight of the show this week. -
I was actually thinking the same thing. If Manning has any involvement in this thing, he will probably insist on playing himself. I truly believe he thinks he was the biggest star in that territory not named Von Erich.

This guy looks like Kid Rock fucked Weezer. I'm longing for the Pitch Black match right now. -

Regarding the Pitch Black match... At least it was short? -

That definitely is going on my repeat Rumble watch list. Very well done from start to finish. I fear the rest of the show won't be able to hold up! -
On this week's episode of the UWF Fury Cast, Gene and Bob take a fun look back at Episode #7 of the UWF Fury Hour! Herb circles back to the Col Debeers/Larry Sampson angle as we get the "long awaited rematch" between Debeers and Billy Jack Haynes where Billy Jack delivers a promo that would have gotten this whole thing thrown off the air if they tried to air it in today's society. Then from there, perhaps the WORST Capt Lou's Corner segment yet (if you can even imagine that), Dr Death is back from Japan, B. Brian Blair takes on the debuting Louie Spicolli, and a touching tribute video to a departing hero closes out the show that will bring a tear to glass eye. Seriously, if you don't get emotional during this video, you have no heart whatsoever! All of this and more, on Episode 7 of the Fury Cast, right here: https://youtu.be/NsiLjfJPMhw

Young Rock: A New NBC Sitcom About the Life of Dwayne Johnson
Blehschmidt replied to C.S.'s topic in Pro Wrestling
Yeah, I hadn't finished the episode when I wrote that post. I was so blown away by the inclusion of a building that I drive past every day of my life that has never hosted a WWE event being included as the site of a Raw from like 25 years ago that I jumped the gun.
