I feel like it would have been infinitely better if instead of Cody picking up the Stardust gimmick, Dustin dropped the Goldust gimmick & they were just The Rhodes Brothers. Especially after the story where Dusty was on air to get their jobs back.

I'm a fan. I've watched every week so far & will continue to do so. I never really watch AAA, so the majority of the wrestlers are new to me. I like the over-the-top cheesy presentation of the vignettes backstage as it at least feels different & fresh. As was mentioned earlier, we seem to get at least one good match a week. Plus, right now, it's fun to get to know the new (to me) wrestlers & see what they're all about. Both their characters & their moves. I'm not a fan of Chavo, Sexy Star (she's awful), Blue Demon, Jr. or Mil Muertes. At least Chavo is a decent wrestler out of that group, I just don't particularly care for him. The rest of them aren't any good. At least not from what I have seen so far on Lucha Underground. It's also weird to me that Johnny Mundo is literally playing his exact same character from WWE, without changing a thing other than the last name. Same entrance & everything. The commentary is bad but I like the atmosphere of the show a lot. "The Temple" is neat in that I like that the wrestlers have to go through the crowd & come down the stairs to make it to the ring. It feels underground, so the name of the promotion makes sense. It reminds me of like Mortal Kombat or Bloodsport. So far, I like Prince Puma, Drago, Fenix, Ivelissa, Son of Havoc & Catrina. I dislike Big Ryck, Cortez, Cisco & the names I listed up above. King Cuerno also made me literally laugh outloud & how ridiculously stupid his ring entrance attire looked. I still think that Konnan is a great talker & I don't mind him at all. The show never really feels like it's starting to drag because it's not super long. Everything seems to have a reason for happening so far. Dario is fun so far too.

I just thought it was an interesting take. If a 450lb guy can do all the same things as the 200lb guy, why do you care about the 200lb guy? Obviously it's never that black-and-white and a lot more goes into it than just that, like characters, opponents & what not. It was just something I didn't really expect to hear from a worker as I figured most people would like Big Van Vader. I guess everyone has haters though. Especially in this ego driven business full of people scared of losing their spots and being jealous of others.

I love Big Van Vader and he'll probably end up pretty high on my list. A lot of his Japan stuff is great. Some of his WCW stuff is pretty good too. Watching a shoot with Honky Tonk Man, he said that Vader was a big guy that refused to work big guy style & instead wanted to get over by doing a lot of stuff that people his size shouldn't be doing and that people didn't think they could do. If Big Van Vader, at 450 lbs, does a Moonsault in the main event, why do you care if "Flyin'" Brian Pillman does a Crossbody in the opener? I think BVV also worked with a lot of tremendously talented opponents that would capable of taking his offense & making it look like death. Dylan makes some interesting points in his devil's advocate post on the first page.

I have not seen this. Do you recall which show, so I can check it out?

I would have liked to have seen Jim Ross & Jesse Ventura call WWF matches like a sporting event. They were great together in WCW, in my opinion. I think that's my favorite team ever.
-
Although obviously he will not top anyone's list, Scott Hall is interesting. When he was motivated, he was pretty good. He also had a tendency to become lazy. When he was working with his friends in WWF, he did some good stuff. When he has guaranteed money, maybe not so much. Matches with 1-2-3 Kidd, at least one of them, was pretty good. Both ladder matches with Shawn Michaels were pretty good. I remember watching a Royal Rumble (I think) match with Jeff Jarrett that was pretty good. Any other matches that come to mind? Anything in WCW at all? Or pre-Razor days?

Nakamura Vs. Shibata from Power Struggle any good?

I get Destination America on Time Warner, living in the midwest. I never really watch TNA though. I've heard they're going to try to rebrand the company & give them a new, fresh look & whatnot, so I guess I might check out the first show when it airs to see if anything has changed. I definitely have my doubts - TNA has went through dozens of rebrandings and resets already over the years anyway. I feel they're rotten at the core but who knows. I assume they took this deal cause it was the only option they had other than having zero TV. TNA has been lukewarm, at best, for years is it is so I can't really see this being a productive thing but who knows, maybe we'll be surprised.

I do think it's probably just too much Vince in their ear. Mick Foley talked about it before. You can't really be yourself anymore, you just become an extention of McMahon. Some could argue that commentary went to hell after Jesse or The Brain took off. Thought JR was great on play-by-play, color has never been the same. Vince himself was dreadful. Heyman was good for awhile but sometimes just would rant for too long and they wouldn't focus on the match. He kept trying to get himself and the dead ECW over. Also I'm firmly in the Jesse Ventura > Bobby Heenan camp. I think it firmly went to hell when Michael Cole took over on RAW.

I liked Mark Henry during his first Hall of Pain run. I think The Big Show, overall, is pretty underrated. I just don't want to see them anymore. Same with Kane. Just dudes that have been there forever that can't really do anything new that we haven't seen anymore. I'm tired of them. They've been around since the Attitude era. It's almost 2015 now.
-
Because they're old & boring, long-winded, slow & I'm tired of seeing them on TV all of these years later? Lemme guess, another Steph promo where she berates people without any repercussions and some more matches with Henry & Show where they move like molasses & the crowd don't give a fuck? Yeah, best people on the roster, for sure!
-
Can we change the stip to no matter who wins Kane, Mark Henry, The Big Show, Stephanie McMahon & Triple H are all off TV?

My mother is in her fifties and still can't figure out the digital cable remote control. I wouldn't even want to see her try to figure out how to turn on a computer, let alone work one.

I already subscribed to the WWE Network, so even if it weren't a free month, I would be able to watch Survivior Series. That being said, as part of having the WWE Network, even if the build-up is bad or I don't care about any of the matches, I always watch the live PPVs. It's just a lot of value & a big perk of being a subscriber. I wonder if this free month was more a test to see how many people actually ARE cheap & don't get the network so they can find out if the $9.99 is the problem or not. I don't think it is, personally. I think it's more the technological barrier & people not wanting to watch wrestling on something other than their television. I mean, you can get a Roku device & all that stuff, or stream to your TV or whatever but not a lot of people older than me are familiar with that sort of thing. I read recently that WWE's biggest demographic is people 40+ years of age.

Diamond Studd / Razor Ramon / Scott Hall (1, 2, 3) I didn't see his name in the Nominees thread. I enjoyed both his Wrestlemania & SummerSlam Ladder matches with Shawn Michaels and his upset match with 1-2-3 Kid. I think he should be nominated.

If I ever get banned here, I hope I'm memorable enough to get a multiple page thread bashing me.

Hansen, Flair, Funk, Misawa, Kawada, Kobashi. Those are my six definite names. I'm a real big fan of Big Van Vader, Dr. Death and a few others but I'm not sure where they will end up yet.

André the Giant -VS- Hulk Hogan for the WWF World Heavyweight Championship. Former friends. André, whom is seemingly unbeatable & never had a desire for the championship before, is corrupted by Bobby "The Brain" Heenan, turns on his friend & wants the belt. Hogan as the top dog babyface during an incredible run, doesn't want to fight his friend at first. The crucifix is ripped off, Hogan agrees to the match. Wrestlemania III, biggest house ever, Hogan manages to not only win but slam the unbeatable Giant to retain his title. There's controversy regarding an early pinfall attempt which gives WWF another year worth of material to build to Wrestlemania IV, where a tournament is held for the title and both men get a first round bye. The match itself at WM3 wasn't full of good work but man, the emotion & atmosphere was great. The buildup & story was great. It was the two biggest guys colliding at the biggest show over the biggest prize.

I have got to stop staying up all hours of the night watching pro-wrestling for this greatest wrestler ever project. It's going to kill me! Educated myself tonight on The Destroyer and got bonus Mil Mascaras along the way. Can't believe the level of shit they were doing all the way back in 1974. Can't believe the quality of some of the video footage on youtube from that era either, honestly. Good stuff. There was a spot in the first fall that ended with Mascaras having a high-angle Boston Crab on The Destroyer that I completely marked out for. 3AM marking out at a wrestling match from 40 years ago. THAT is pro-wrestling.

My biggest problem areas are a lack of Lucha & having a tough time equating current guys to past guys. Also a lot of stuff before 1981. Stan Hansen Terry Funk Ric Flair Mitsuharu Misawa Toshiaki Kawada Kenta Kobashi "Dr. Death" Steve Williams Big Van Vader Bret Hart Rick Rude Ted DiBiase Randy Savage Jerry Lawler Ricky Steamboat Tito Santana Eddie Guerrero Ricky Morton Rey Mysterio, Jr. Dusty Rhodes Dustin Rhodes Harley Race Nick Bockwinkel Bobby Eaton Barry Windham Curt Hennig Arn Anderson Jushin "Thunder" Liger The Undertaker Shawn Michaels Daniel Bryan Steve Austin Rick Martel Greg Valentine Cactus Jack and I'll have zero issue putting Stan Hansen at #1. Also, for whatever it's worth, when talking about this on Twitter, I'll use #ProWrestlingOnly & #Top100

Man, I'm not feeling that Survivor Series main event at all. John Cena, Erik Rowan, Dolph Ziggler, The Big Show & Ryback - VS - Seth Rollins, Luke Harper, Mark Henry, Rusev & Kane. The "big surprise" was freakin' Erik Rowan? Can we replace Erik Rowan, The Big Show, Ryback, Mark Henry & Kane?
-
Speaking of, is there a way we can get more people to register? I really enjoy reading the thread about new posters here, posting how they got into wrestling, where they're from & what not. It would be cool if we could attract more peeps.
-
I've seen a lot of big fat guys or jacked up muscle guys in pro-wrestling. Everyone from Earthquake, One Man Gang & King Kong Bundy to Hulk Hogan, The Ultimate Warrior & The Warlord. I have never seen anyone get as gassed as Ryback was tonight...and that's coming from someone that watched Davey Boy Smith! I thought he was going to pass out.

I have had IPS errors both here & DVDVR. Outside of it being a problem on the end of the forum, for updates or whatever, it is usually resolved by me clearing out my internet Cache. Which if I let it go too long just eats memory, I guess? That's always the first fix I try is clearing out my cache/history & reloading the page completely with Alt+F5.
