  1. I loved this. Been a fan of Lorcan and Burch for a long time so it's great to see them finally getting a chance to shine. I'm getting into TUE more and more as well and I really enjoy them as champions. Oney on a tear was a joy to watch, KOR's escape from that double submission was terrific and the finishing stretch was stellar. Was fine with Adam Cole's involvement as well. **** from me as well. Best NXT tag match in some time.
  2. This was a long match and usually when matches go this long my engagement will peak about 10 minutes before the end and I'll look back and think they should've finished it earlier, but not here. This was an epic. The last 10 minutes was the peak. The sit down tease was masterfully done. One of the best examples of overt "storytelling" in a match that I've ever seen. Gargano's face, Ciampa's face. And then Ciampa swinging with the brace and missing. I loved the crutch theft, the use of the knee brace, the multiple DIY and CWC match call backs and the two brutal spots on the outside - the suplex off the announce table and powerbomb onto the concrete. Gargano is a top class babyface and Ciampa is so convincing as a sick psychopath heel. This is a modern WWE interpretation of a blood feud blow off with the limitations they're given but I think being able to work with what you're given, being creative and encouraging an emotional response is what wrestling's all about and they did all those things. Personally I would probably take a classic 80s style brawl with blading and so on over this but then I'd also much rather see something like this than the same old tired kendo stick and steel chair shots to the back and a load table bumps. I didn’t think this was perfect but it was very close. Currently my #2 MOTY behind Almas/Gargano.
  3. Wouldn't be the first time people reacted in a weird way to someone's inductor only to discover that the inductee themselves picked them (which almost always seems to be the case anyway). That's happened a lot over the years. With Goldberg, it's pretty well known that he didn't have many good memories of his first stints in the business and this last run in WWE did a lot to right those wrongs. He spoke about how happy he was that the Brock program worked so well and it was reported that Brock went out of his way to push for Goldberg to beat him in the way he did and so on. I'd imagine Goldberg interacted with Heyman a fair bit during that period and given that Brock's obviously not going to induct him, Heyman doing so probably makes a lot more sense than some people are saying.
  4. Best match of the tournament for me - and it's been a really enjoyable series of matches. Gulak started off in round one facing off against his mate Tony Nese, bringing the aggression and then completely losing it and he hasn't really stopped since. He's a madman here and it rubs off on Ali who starts to lose it to with that almost costing him. This was going well already but when they moved to the outside it really kicked into another gear. Great bumping from Ali, I liked the convincing count out false finishes. Excellent match. Alexander/Ali is the right choice for the final, I'm not sure who I want to win now. Probably Ali.
  5. It's a great character that has been destroyed by terrible booking. We may well have seen the last of him now (ie. the character not the performer) which is probably best for everyone involved at this point.
  6. Agreed considering they start it off with friggin Tye Dillinger at #10, who lost to Baron Corbin just last week, while Corbin is not ranked. And the fact that Tye has barely been on TV for months.. Well they said it's based off locker room popularity and overall talent as voted for by the wrestlers rather than wins and losses. I'm not sure what the purpose of it is, in that case, but there we go.
  7. Fantastic guys, thanks.
  8. I'm not sure where to start with the home videos. I've seen the Battle Royal in the Albert Hall years ago but aside from that not sure I've seen any of them. Any recommendations?
  9. Prob just a "who the fuck is this" She's interviews stars and tries to be one. Just always trying to get herself over. Like Pillman said to Dok, "Hold the mic Hendrix. You're the prop now" Ive never heard anything but great things about her. Shes apparently one of the genuinely nice people in Hollywood. Absolutely. She seems really genuine. And a legitimate fan of the industry. She presents the HOF red carpet every year on the Network and did a really good job inducting Bob Backlund a few years back. Nothing but good things to say about her but wrestling fans seem to find it very easy to take against any women that aren't 100% legit wrestler's wrestlers.
  10. I liked this match a lot. I haven't been watching Smackdown lately and had little interest in the handicap match at the PPV, likely due to the predictable outcome and the seemingly odd decision to do a handicap WWE title match on PPV. This did a lot to change that though so in that sense it's a perfect go-home TV main event. I liked them playing up the idea that Owens and Zayn have got into AJ's head, which was clear as AJ kept getting distracted by Owens on the outside. Big win for Sami and suddenly AJ's title reign looks a little more vulnerable than before.
  11. Funny thing is, White actually did more for himself the night after at New Year Dash than his big opportunity in the dome. There's some potential there for sure. I hope him flopping at WK (which may be an unfair exaggeration but it feels like that) is more like Okada on his return to New Japan than a genuine failure that he won't recover from.
  12. I absolutely loved this. What a war. How a 47 year old Chris Jericho put on by far his best performance in years and one of his best ever I don't know. He pulled out all the stops and you could tell he was treating this like a huge deal. So much stuff in this match and while it did probably go on a bit too long, I was kind of in awe of watching old man Jericho keep up with Omega. Couldn't help but see the look on Jericho's face as he was lying there at the end after that last brutal one winged angel and wondering if he was thinking "man, I'm going to regret this in the morning". Show stealer.
  13. Really good show that probably had no right to be as good as it was. Build seems more lacklustre than ever and my interest in the product has never been lower but I ended up sitting through all of this with no problems. In contrast to last year's show which I still haven't managed to get through. Enjoyed almost everything. Most matches were either good or had something else going for them to keep my attention. Got a bit choked up during Charlotte's entrance. And again at the end with Taker's farewell. Orton/Bray was the worst thing in the show. When Bray came to the ring his star felt higher than it'd been in a long while. That's kind of gone again now.
  14. I think the suggestion is that the actual chamber has been redesigned due to issues with arenas/those new thick video ringposts.
  15. WWE's ECW ended up being a really good show. I'd definitely like to see Matt Hardy's 2008, Christian's 2009, the Miz & Morrison tag team run... all the random guys they had debut - Rally Up Ricky Ortiz, dancing DJ Gabriel... Tye Dillinger when he was Gavin Spears.
  16. 6/9/95 for me too.
  17. Definitely the best booked Rumble match in a number of years. The first half until the ring started to fill up was perfect and from Brock's entrance on things heated up again too. Wasn't as much down time as there often is in rumbles either. That said, Orton winning does very little for me. The title matches were bags of fun. Big, memorable matches. I wouldn't say either were worked in a style I particularly love but I was fairly engrossed by both.
  18. To add to this, I think there is perhaps more of a reluctance among many fans these days to be a detractor of something well-loved, and less people interested in engaging those detractors. A lot of Wrestling Twitter folks are more into shared enjoyment than debating and dissecting. Those kind of fans have really always been the majority in real life, but the internet didn't lend itself to that kind of fandom until recently. I think this is spot on. Particularly true when it comes to Reddit, for obvious reasons. Guess it is similar to the reinforcing twitter/redditsub bubble that people refer to regarding politics on the internet. A culture of downvoting/belittling dissenting views when you're in the majority. Likewise with Twitter, building up a timeline that reflects your views on a subject. I've also noticed that in wrestling chat, it seems to lead to almost identical discussions about given topics, if you can call it discussion. They rarely go anywhere new and nothing is challenged, which is a shame.
  19. Haven't been particularly invested in current wrestling anywhere for a while not but I absolutely loved this show from start to finish. There was lots of fun from the Rumble through to the ROH title match and from there it kicked into another gear. I'm surprised to see so much of the show (outside of the clearly divisive main event) prove divisive. I thought the Junior Heavyweight title match was stunning and I thought it would get more love than it has. Big time performance from Hiromu to announce his return. As for the main event, I was fine with most of the early stages, although my mind did wander a tad and they could've cut some of that stuff quite easily. Close to the end there was a point where I wish it had ended. Right after one of the rainmakers that Omega kicked out from. That said, this was the one time where this kind of 'overkill' epic is justified imo - the main event of the biggest show of the year. I thought the match was excellent and had a blast watching it but I'd stand somewhere in the middle between those calling it the goat and those who hated it. I still have a few issues with Omega and I think the hyperbole surrounding him is off but props to him for putting in a hell of a performance in that match. Superhuman.
  20. Cena's been a great big match wrestler for about 8 years.
  21. I rewatched it earlier and thought it was better than I did initially as well. Here's what I said somewhere else: I think it went a bit too long and they could've booked a better, more memorable finish (even if Cena goes over - Wyatt passing out in the STF or something similar) but I dug most of it. Bray's been on fire this year and his work here is really good, trying to get into Cena's head, attempting to simultaneously push his buttons and crush him. Dragging Cena up by his ears, stamping on his hands, surprising him with that spider pose. He scored some sick counters and I loved the Dark Knight "finish me" spots. Cole suggesting Cena was "fighting not to lose as opposed to fighting to win" was neat. I liked how he realised he'd have to take out both Rowan and Harper to win. The big crossbody and spear through the barricade were great. A handful of hot false finishes too. A better finish and this would have been great. As it happens I thought it was still really good. Was more action packed than I had remembered and the crowd was super into it. Cena either sticking to his guns and coming up short or ultimately "crossing the line" in order to win would have been massive moments. You could argue he did the latter by taking Rowan out with the chair but really he beats Wyatt in much the same way as he's defeated so many of his other foes. Hopefully we will get one of those endings at the next PPV.
  22. Yeah they haven't had one of those since 26 I think? At least a couple of years anyway. I miss them too.
  23. How did they try and turn him face? Not the impression I got from the spoilers.
