  1. Really enjoyed this, from the early Fujinami/Hase exchanges onwards with only Chono ever looking a bit of his league. The other 3 delivered their signature spots with Hase throwing out a bunch of suplexes, uranage, scorpion and giant swing and Kosh with his butt bumps. Nice to see Fujinami still hanging with these guys after what he'd been through in previous years. ***3/4
  2. Sound technical work early. While I can appreciate what they were doing on the mat, most of it just wasn't clicking for me. While early on I was caught off guard by how quickly the first couple falls in some lucha matches would conclude, its no longer feeling quite as strange as it did initially (up to about mid-April on the yearbook). Canek did a good job selling Caras' work on his knee from the second fall into the third before finishing with a rana where the execution looked a bit off. **3/4

And I miss 1 on 1 mania main events. I feel like the air was just let out of the show.

    I miss the spinner belt.
  5. Regardless of how over his entrance music and finisher may be, I have faith that they will simply not commit to someone with 2 wellness policy violations. They can anchor a 2 hour tv around him but its not worth putting part of a buy rate on his shoulders. I've also got no problem with that. Swagger & Dutch are a unique gimmick and no matter how natural a fit that gimmick may be with an ADR world champion, I don't believe that's something that will draw a buy rate. Regardless, I suckered 3 friends into buying mania tickets so I will be there!
  6. Chi-Town Wrestle War Clash Clash is 20+ of intensity and go go go awesomeness. Wrestle War is epic and has the post match angle. Clash VI simply doesn't, and basically loses by default through no fault of its own other than when it occurred on the calendar.
  7. Ugh. I'm out.
  8. THAT'S. WHAT I DOOOOOOOOOO.
  9. Let's hope you're wrong. No money in setting up Henry as a monster who's overcome in this setting. I'm a believer in logic prevailing at Mania time so let's hope it pans out.
  10. Harris Brothers were generally terrible. But they were at least booked as legit threats as Raven's henchmen vs. Dreamer & co. in ECW.
  11. I always bet on simple when it comes to Mania, which means Rock retaining, Henry winning the Chamber since he has by far the most heat of any potential challenger, and ADR retaining to preserve a babyface vs. heel title match. I don't see the Shield winning unless its to set up a rematch at Mania involving Sheamus and Ryback. I don't see Orton winning as they seem really hesitant to avoid doing too much with someone with two wellness policy violations, and understandably so. He's fine in his role but too much to lose putting him in any more of a featured position.
  12. Welcome back, King Race. I was afraid he was put out to pasture.
  13. Corny gets the ball rolling in SMW talking about the big promotions turning wrestling into a joke and highlighting tag team wrestling as a feature from day one.
  14. Nothing he's written is remotely compelling, interesting, or arguably even inoffensive to a wrestling fan. He's a hipster from Brooklyn crossed with a blogger and packaged as Grantland's attempt to be cool about wrestling. Fail.
  15. Hansen vs. Funk, 4/14/83.
  16. If they were serious about it you could have Ziggler about to win, then Henry does something so awful and over the line it turns Ziggler face for his come back. Now that'd be fun.
  17. Swagger with Zeb may generate "more" coverage. But it will be negative coverage that doesn't add a dime to the show's bottom line. Henry is the hottest, freshest heel on the roster and a better fit vs. ADR than even Punk would be at this point.
  18. Funk vs. Flair, GAB '89.
  19. The GOAT show and '96 Yearbook discussion were probably 2 of my favorites. Would love some more that are similarly broad.
  20. Great call on Hall. Never really shined at all in WCW as I'm not sure you could point to more than few above average outings, much less anything truly memorable in the ring.
  21. The Moondogs attack Lawler in the studio which brings out Jarrett, Fuller and eventually Austin Idol in his sunglasses and with a suitcase, which is of course one of the weapons used here. Idol's promo afterwards talks about the dogs messing with his plane and accusing them of premeditated, attempted murder. Somehow this doesn't feel as absurd here as it would in just about any other promotion.
  22. I know its Memphis, but this is beyond inappropriate for 1992. I don't think it would pass muster in '82 for that matter. Ware and Lawler are great though.
  23. I don't think I could ever grow tired of Embry promos. What a piece of work.
  24. What he said. Chairs, chloroform, masks and MOONDOGS.
  25. The Moondogs destroy a couple jobbers and Richard Lee is sporting a nasty scar from the fireball. More awesome Memphis.
