  1. I enjoyed all of the NJPW and NPWw/ROH co - branded matches. The woman 's match was just terrible . The Dalton Castle/ Boys , Allure and Enzo/ Cass angles should have been saved for TV not a PPV . IMOO , PPV 's are for blow off matches not creating new storylines. The Ladder match was fine , just not the proper way to decide a world title match. I think it was safe to say that Bubba has the book. The ladder match , street fight and return of the Beautiful People are proof . Hopefully ROH has hit it bottom and will start to improve. You shall see.
  2. Rush need to work with Jeff Cobb , Juice Robinson and Brody King . Maybe NWA title matches with Willie Mack and Nick Aldis . You could also book Rush / Naito against the Briscoes . Off the top of my head those would be programs that could draw .
  3. ROH is inexpensive programming for the Sinclair stations . When , Cornette came into power he tone down the product in order to sell the company to a television outlet . Jimmy gave us this bland product . Now years later Delirious is still the booker . He books a product that pleases his corporate employer. Really cannot compare ROH and PWG . ROH is a safe product that appeals to TV executives and their advertising clients , while PWG is a home video product that appeals to a smaller customer base . PWG never has to worry about losing ad dollars over risky content . ROH is all about selling TV time and pleasing the corporate office. Apples and Oranges .
  4. Well contracts end and people can move on with their lifes. The WWE is not that powerful to hold people hostage after their contracts end. The WWE is not Apple or Microsoft , they are a small company in the grand scheme of things . Plus the game has changed. Sinclair Broadcasting has already sent their legal department after the WWE on at least two different times . Last time I checked ROH/ NJPW are running MSG . Also , I sure Shad Khan has some of the best legal minds available to fight the WWE . Maybe Shad Khan will make an example of the WWE if they cross him. Plus the WWE is going to have trouble signing top talent if they continue to treat talent badly . Look at how PAC was treated . Those type of bullying tactics will backfire on the WWE in this labor market
  5. The word is that Mike Bennett wants to return to ROH. Bennett and Taven are boys , so it makes sense. Plus , ROH is starting to pay more money these days. As for the WWE guys , McMahon can only throw temporary road blocks in their path. In the end whoever AEW wants from the WWE , they will sign. Mcmahon cannot hold the talent prisoner forever. Conracts run out. If the AEW offers comparable money , some type of health coverage, fewer dates and more creative freedom , they be able to get the top talent.. Rhodes knows the deal. He spent years being micro managed by the WWE system .
  6. I think Sinclair will be just fine. If anything the formation of AEW might just inspire David Smith to invest some capital into ROH. Smith and Khan , both billionaires.
  7. Sinclair made All In possible on several difference levels . Without ROH giving the guys permission , providing talent and production support All In could not have happen. I understand why guys started their own promotion , but it appears they double dealt Sinclair in the process . Now that the WWE has googled up some much of the indy talent and it appears that AEW will not have any access that ROH , NJPW and CMLL talent. Where does AEW go to fill out the roster in the short term . Impact , MLW , AAA , AJPW , Dragon Gate or what left on the indies ? Should be interesting.
  8. Why would NJPW ever want to cut ties with ROH . Sinclair owns of a 100 free broadcast TV stations . That a whole lot of exposure for the NJPW product. If anything , NJPW might want to buy a piece of ROH .
  9. Who going to buy the assets of TNA/Impact ? The top contenders would be the WWE and Sinclair . Now we also have BEIN network backed MLW and the Khan backed AEW on the scene . I guess any one of the 4 could buy Impact from Anthem . They have all of the footage to sell , which is the big prize. . The overseas TV deals and key talent contracts are short term assets that might have some value. The announce move to Pursuit TV is does not too promising . The new TV home is in about 6 million households. I would think that ROH with over 100 broadcast stations and various regional cable deals gets in far more homes. I wonder how long Anthem will continue operating Impact? Is the India TV has the only significant source of income? Should be a interesting few months.
  10. IMOO , I though that the run that ROH had in 2005 , 06 & 07 was some of the best wrestling ever. From Manhattan Mayhem to Man Up , they really were hitting on all cylinders . ROH was returning to form with the Kevin Steen / Steve Corino vs. El Generico / Colt Cabana in 10 . However Cornette seemed to have an intense dislike for the work of these men . Jim ever stopped booking Cabana . The Kings of Wrestling vs . Briscoes feud was going on at the same time . it was pure Gold . After that we have indeed been treated to lazy and mediocre booking for years . The last two years have been a platform for Cody and friends . They have been good matches here and there . Hell , with the Briscoes , Bucks , SCU and the NJPW attractions you were bound to have a few good matches. Who knows were it goes from here. The whole roster has turned over since SBGI bought the company . I think Jay Lethal , the Briscoes and Kenny King are the only pre-SBGI talents left on the roster. Hell of a turn over. The ROH Office needs to re- build the under card with wrestlers that have long term potential to draw money . Hopefully ROH management will realize there is an issue with the booking and makes some changes . If I were them I would try to book the NJPW LA Dojo and NJPW Dojo talent for extended excursions . Give guys like Clark Conners , Alex Coughlin and Karl Fredericks a shot. Throw in the 2 or 3 NJPW Dojo guts . You could rotate the talent between ROH and CMLL . Also they could use Cobb and King as a resources to identify underexposed talent in the West. There seems to be quite a few prospects up and down the Pacific Coast Jacob Fatu and Jungle Boy are a couple of guys I am hearing about , yet to see either yet . I sure them are other underexposed and deserving talents waiting for their break . The ROH office needs to get off their backside and find them. New talent is ROH 's lifeline. . Of course all of these actions required long term thinking and planning . I hope for the best .
  11. Not too bad for PCO. The man got a six figure deal to work for ROH. He is 50 years , the money will go a long way to funding his retirement . Happy for him.
  12. You are right about the product. When ROH was at it peak it combined two different styles , 80's Memphis and 90's AJPW . Gabe booked the personal issues angles that creates an emotional connection between the wrestlers and their audience . Examples would be the CM Punk vs. Christopher Daniels war of 2003 , Jimmy Rave 's betrayal of AJ Styles , Alex Shelly selling out to Prince Nana, Corino vs. Homicide , Punk disgust with Raven's lifestyle , Jimmy loves Lacey , the ROH vs. CZW war, the Summer of Punk and countless other angles that captivated the fans. Yet , product balance was always maintained by quality in ring action. Examples Joe vs. Punk , the Danielson vs. Homicide series of 2005, Danielson vs. Nigel, Aries & Strong vs. the Briscoes , AJ vs. Matt Sydal , Claudio vs. Nigel , Colt vs. Nigel , Joe vs. Daniels and many others. Everything always seemed to come together and the audience was paid off in the end. Delirious books way too many comedy acts and marginal prospects that will never draw money . I guess that comes from all the time he spent in Chikara . There are no real angles , just a constant series of matches that seemed to be put together at the last minute. The audience does not emotionally connected to Delirious' s ROH , because it is void of any real emotion , just a endless series of high spots and comedy matches. A company with one hour of TV per week and 4 yearly PPV ' s just needs one strong booker who gets the business. Who that person is remains a mystery , but it doe not appear to be Delirious . So we agree .
  13. They are being force to restock the roster or their business will fall off the cliff with the upcoming talent departures. The retooling of the roster is something ROH or any wrestling promotion should do on a least a yearly basis . Wrestling fans like to see new talent and fresh matches . It just seems it takes a crisis for the ROH office to make any move to sign new talent .
  14. I been watching some World Class a.k.a. USWA from 88/89. Jerry Lawler was the perfect heel. He just tormented the Dallas fans. Great stuff.
  15. PCO signs a deal with ROH . Silas Young resigns with ROH . Tracy Williams vs. ZSJ in Philly. Best Friends return . All interesting developments . Maybe SBGI finally found their lost wallet.
  16. Rainmaker vs. Switchblade , It has been interesting to watch Jay White moved to another level.
  17. ROH roster is fine. As of now the company has Jay Lethal , Dalton Castle , The 5 Elite members. the Briscoes , Matt Taven , Silas Young , Flip Gordon , So Cal Uncensored , Best Friends , Chris Sabin , Jonathan Gresham , TK O'Ryan , Jeff Cobb and random NJPW/CMLL talent. Sure they are set to lose the Elite , Silas Young and I am sure a few others will hit the bricks . However they do have Cobb , Mark Haskins and Brodie King . Zack Sabre is working a double shot.. I am sure that Tracy Williams , Luchasaurus , Colin Delaney and others will join the fold. Super Smash Brothers , Davey Vega , Matt Fitchett , Curt Stallion , Jay Freddie to named have gotten looks in recent times. The talent level will be just fine. The issue remains the booking. I know there is a ROH booking committee , but a mid card comedy wrestler remains the driving force behind the in ring product. Nothing personal against Hunter , but all bookers run their course. That the is nature of the business . Past time for a creative change. I agree that an Impact / ROH program would draw money . Eddie Edwards , Matt Sydal and Moose would be welcomed back. While John Hennigan , Tessa Blanchard , Brian Cage , Sami Callihan , LAX , Eli Drake and Killer Kross would all draw money in an invasion type program.
  18. I don't think the WWE will ever fold unless they are targeted by a larger content provider.. However , it is highly likely that the McMahon heir will sell the company to a large content provider . I don' t know if it will be Disney , Amazon , Netflix, Comcast , AT & T , Viacom , Fox or even Sinclair or Nexstar . One day after Vince is gone, the heirs will cash in their chips. Really in the end the McMahon family will have to sell or face disruption from the likes of Amazon or Netflix.
  19. There were two Al Green 's . The Memphis Big Al Greene was one half of the Heavenly Bodies with his kayfabe brother, Don and their English butler Sir Clements . . Later , Big Al formed the Sherman Tanks with fellow all time great , Phil Hickerson . The Sherman Tanks were managed by the late , great Sam Bass. If I recall the Al Green is the post is a non-describe WCW jobber , who I don't remember ever seeing wrestle.
  20. Go back and watch ROH footage from 2005 and 2006. Seems to help me .
  21. My wrestler of the year is Kenny Omega . Omega is the IWGP champ and end the Rainmaker's historic run. Omega is the top wrestler in the world's top wrestling promotion.
  22. So , Jay Lethal has resigned with ROH . Jeff Cobb is on board for a year . ZSJ working Final Battle. Brody King starts after FB . Not too bad. Look ing for a Best friends push in 2019. Greg and Big Dust are money. FB could be interesting . Cody , the Bucks and Page all have title shots. What if they all win and then declare themselves free agents . Could happen. Would be a great story line.
  23. Well I watched the Global Wars show from Maine. I fell asleep a couple of times. Not a good start to the tour. Cheeseburger vs. Jeff Cobb was a waste of my time. So were the returning Boys and the Kingdom six man.. Just a very boring card that featured a lot of generic matches that seemed to be thrown together at the last minute. Big step down from SOTF .
  24. Just watched a whole lot of Georgia . The series of matches for the National TV Title between Ronnie Garvin and Jake Roberts was great. I did not know Jake was capable of such great mat work , but he was a great all around worker. Garvin and Roberts were the perfect opponents for each other. Also watched the Tommy Rich and Buzz Sawyer wars . Some of the best brawling ever .
  25. I watched SOTF 2018 live. I enjoyed the show. A big improvement over Glory By Honor. I hope ROH locked down Tracy Williams and LuchaSaurus before they left the building. The Williams vs. Gresham was the MOTN , well worth watching .
