The booking is not just stale , it is bad. I bought the last two PPV 's via Comcast. The first PPV had a solid ROH title match between Lethal and Cabana . Then a Bullet Club run in ruins the match. Run in like this should be done on TV to build the PPV , not ruin the PPV. The next PPV had a dreadful segment featuring the stable of Kenny King, Rhett Titus and Caprice Coleman . The whole segment was ill conceived and poorly executed by everyone involved with this nonsense. This segment was so bad , it should have not been aired , This crappy segment cut the time for the ROH title down to around 13 minutes ,. Then the ROH title match was interrupted by Taylor Hendrix and Delirious's girl friend, Mandy , who was sitting at ringside for no apparent reason . So we cut even more time off the main event to build Women of Honor feud. Nothing against the Women of Honor , but there is a time a place for everything . The women segment should have been on TV , not during a PPV main event. I am not buying the next ROH PPV due to this type of crap. In general the promotion is diddy boppin along under Delirious 's watch . The main story is Adam Cole throwing a temper tantrum because Lethal is the champ and that about all there is going in ROH.

I did not catch their promo 's . I was watching a rerun of Dragnet . However , there are no worries. The Donald will just instruct the Koloffs to leak more DNC emails.
-
Also now we know that Russians are in Trump's stable. When the Koloffs and Nicolai Volkoff are on your side how could anyone lose.

Trump is another Jerry Lawler . The Donald can sell tickets to the same fan base for 40 years. Talents like him only come along once in a generation. So Proud ! It really going to get good when he actually wins the election . It is a no contest . The whole thing reminds of Andy Kaufman vs. Foxy !

The Most Useless Tag Team or Stable Ever?
Memphis Mark replied to JaymeFuture's topic in Pro Wrestling
The Coalition . . Nothing against the guys in the Coalition , but they ain't Austin Idol , Tommy Rich , Paul E and Buddy Landel. The Coalition started out with a line up of Big Bubba, Goliath , Bad Company, Don Bass , Carl Fergie and Brickhouse Brown . At the end only Brickhouse , Bass and Fergie were left to wrap up the program with Lawler and Dundee . -
I admire Kurt Angle . He unloaded Karen on Jeff Jarrett. . Best escape ever !

There is no footage available , but Lou Thesz work as a heel in Memphis during the 1970's. Lou team with Jerry Lawler for a short time and they were managed by the late, great Sam Bass. . Lou would just verbally abuse the local talent. He would call them Mickey Mouse wrestlers and proceed just beat the crap out of guys. Lou would back his opponent against the ropes and just lite them up with fore arms. . He would take guys to the mat and just grind his fore arm into their face. Lou and in his 50's and was in better shape than any other wrestler. Thesz made you believe that he could beat the shit out of anyone at anytime. It was not really much of a stretch because he could The only guy I was that was close to Lou was Danny Hodge. Hodge was a legit shooter. As a young boy I was in awe of those two.

Lawler vs. Dundee is the winner between these two.. Bill and Jerry actually did not like each other. Jerry did not drink or use drugs. , played softball , loved comic books , loved monster movies , lived in the city , did not work out and most of all love girls. While Bill was known to bend an elbow , hang out in honkytonks , lived in the weight room , raced motorcycles and loved small town Tennessee. City vs. Country The real heat was that Bill wanted Jerry's spot in the Jarrett promotion . All these differences and personal issues added realism to the feud. The brawling was top notch. No as good as Lawler vs. Fargo , but a close second. The Lawler vs. Fargo feud is one of the great feuds as well. That feud caused the roof to blow off the MSC . Fargo was Lawler's mentor. Lawler turned on Jackie in tag match . Lawler broke Jackie's ribs by wrapping a chain around his fist and hit second rope fist drop over and over. . Jackie was out of commission for some time . Lawler would run Jackie down on TV during his recovery period. Lawler was always selling his own T- Shirts and buttons on TV . Lawler who say things like " Not having your King Lawler button would be like Jackie Fargo not having his Geritol " You get the picture . Fargo returned and some the greatest brawls seen in a wrestling ring took place. For me top feud ever .

Like I said you may be right. However , I would like to see this go to court if McMahon does not back off. You just never know.

I recall Schultz working as a TV jobber in Memphis. It was 1976 when he broke out . Schultz was put in a makeshift heel tag team with Roger Kirby . One rookie and one veteran. They beat Big Bad John and Bill Dundee for the NWA Southern tag team titles. The Monday night title change was set up on Saturday TV . Big Bad John was bragging to Lance Russell that he had just beat up 20 men in a bar fight on Friday night. Big John said he whipped 20 men all by his self. Then John went to the ring for a singles match. Suddenly , Schultz and Kirby hit the ring. They just beat the hell out of Big Bad John . Schultz and Kirby told Lance that Big Bad John is a liar, he cannot even beat two men much less 20 men. That is the first program for David Schultz , direct from the mind of Jerry Jarrett. Later . Schultz joined Lawyer's Army. He team with Dutch Mantell and won the Southern tag belts. He moved on to work for Ron Fuller. He team with Dennis Condrey in Southeast . of course they were SE tag champs. Schultz also had a run as SE champ. Schultz look to be set up as a top heel in Southern territories. Then , suddenly he moved to Calgary and said gone for years. Does anyone know the reason ? Did he have heat with Jarrett , Lawler and/or the Fullers ? On a unrelated note. Big John was the first wrestler to ever refer to Bill Dundee as the Superstar.

I get that and you could be right , like I said I am not a lawyer . However , Cody could argue his dad really owns the name and it down to him and Dustin. I don't know . The right thing for Vince to do is back off and just let Cody use his dad's name.

Stockholders don't look at how much certain employees are earning , all they care about is the bottom line. If additional expenses do not result in an acceptable increase in revenue , then shareholders sell out. You gotta beat EPS and revenue projections every quarter . If you don't investors start looking at costs. If the WWE does not make numbers , shareholders will ask McMahon " why did you add all these new employees . They are a drag on the bottom line "

Apples and oranges. Cody's real last name is Runnels, not Rhodes. Well the point is that the WWE is trademarking a name/ character that was created by Gary Hart in the 1960 's. I am not a lawyer , so I don't know if the WWE can just trademark names and characters that were created years before McMahon was even working in Wrestling . Somebody ' s shoot name got nothing to do with anything.

I have to go with Nick . He came to Memphis and made everyone forget the NWA champion even existed . One of the best in ring talents I ever had the pleasure to watch live. Nick was on the level of great champions like Jack Brisco , Danny Hodge and Lou Thesz . I love Buddy , but Nick was at the top of the mountain.

I have a question about Evolve/NXT. How long can they continue they strategy of signing every ROH , NJPW, LU , CMLL , TNA and AAA talent before their accounting people tell them that have to stop spending ? I see massive talent cuts in the next year. How can the WWE handle out all of these deals and still return value to their shareholders ? The name of the game is maximizing profit while reducing cost to the lowest level possible . If all these new fixed expenses prevent the WWE from making their quarterly numbers , the shareholders are going to sell their WWE stock in a heartbeat. It should be interesting to see how the WWE plan to corner the market of talent will play out . I think they will be force to reduce their labor cost , but who really knows .
-
ROH is starting to begin in new talent . Keith Lee , Shane Taylor and Punisher Martinez all look to be regulars. I would be shock if Jason Kincaid is not a regular soon. Does this fill the void left by Strong , Moose and Alexander ? I would think as a collective group the answer would be yes. After this latest rash of departures Kevin Kelly has been put in charge of talent relations . It appears that no one was doing that job.
-
I think Gary Hart picked out the name Dusty Rhodes in the late 1960's , he had just watched " A Face in the Crowd ". So Dusty worked the Amarillo and Tri - State territories before even the AWA days. Would the WWE claim to the Rhodes name hold up in court ? Would this be like trademarking the Von Erich name and telling Kevin , Marshall and Ross they can no use the their own ring name ?

Dustin Howard is Chuck Taylor's shoot name.

Lawler vs. Wayne Farris , family feud . box office Lawler vs. David Schutlz , Dr. D left and only came back for 2 weeks in 85. Local from right up the road in Jackson , TN. Lawler vs. Ric Flair , only the one TV match , feud scrapped Lawler vs. Kevin Von Erich, could have had a great series if Kevin and Jarrett come have come to terms Lawler vs. Roddy Piper in GCW , feud never got from the ground . I think Piper got fired , not sure. Lawler and Farris did work a lot of tag matches. However , I can never recall them having a singles match .

Ricky Vaughn playing the role of Lance Von Erich . The long lost son of Waldo.

Interesting thread . A couple of quick comments. The Mister McMahon character was the brainchild of Jerry Jarrett . While ,Jerry was running WWE and talked Vince into working Memphis during the steroid trial. I believe Vince was in Memphis during 93 developing the Mr. McMahon character . If you read Jarrett's autobiography he goes into great detail about his relationship with McMahon. Russo did not really book the WWF . Russo and friends just made pitches to McMahon . When Russo's crap made it to the small screen the only person to blame was McMahon. However , when Russo went to WCW he proved that he was the Ed Wood of professional wrestling. Without McMahon to hold him in check , Russo proved beyond the shadow of a doubt he was the worst wrestling writer of all time. I would not call Russo a booker , he does not deserve that much respect.

You could say the same about ROH's relationship with PCW. Nobody from PCW was invited to the ROH World Television Championship #1 Contender Tournament last year. They can't have it both ways. ROH not booking any UK talents is just another example of SBGI being cheap. There needs to be a midpoint between the risk adverse culture of SBGI and the insane spending that helped destroy TNA and WCW . I am not asking SBGI to spend insane amounts on ROH , however if you want to win the lottery you have to buy a ticket.

I just watched some SWCW Sheepherders matches . Jonathan Boyd was such a great promo man. Boyd had great heel runs in Southeastern and Memphis ( twice ) , however Southwest gave him a platform to really work his magic. Hell, he even had me believing Bobby Jaggars ran him off the road at 4 a.m.

I don't know much about CMLL talent. Stuka , JR . has been booked as the first CMLL talent to work for ROH . Good, Bad or indifferent about Stuka JR. being the lead off CMLL talent ?
