Gotta love the elitist attitude. While I don't disagree that the "trying way too hard to be a smart mark" crowd would gravitate to Shane's return to an onscreen role, especially if they choose to believe a tin foil theory that Shane was turfed out of his rightful place in a "hostile takeover" by Paul Levesque* I do think that the response it a lot closer to "HOLY SHIT A CHARACTER WE THOUGHT WE'D NEVER SEE AGAIN IS BACK" more than any kind of belief that Shane McMahon will be an onscreen breath of fresh air alternative to Triple H/Steph/Vince. Hell Vince got the same response until he turned heel following TLC. *Johnny Sorrow (IIRC) noted in a thread that in the footage of Arnold Skoaaland's HOF speech, Arnold's mentioning of Shane being the future of the WWF, that Johnny could sense Shane rolling his eyes at that, probably meaning that Shane never really wanted the behind the scenes booking and likewise jobs that Triple H and Steph craved. I don't know about that. Shane was ready to run ECW by himself with Heyman as his project, until Vince stepped in and took it away. I think that was the end of Shane wanting it. Fair enough. I guess Johnny, or whomever the poster was, was projecting over a decade's worth of future events on lines in 1995/1996.

Though Flair gets none of the "we don't want to ever see you again" heat that the collective McMahon family get, probably Ric Flair after the 2001 Survivor Series. Hell that was my first thought while watching Steph start her "acceptance speech" that it was the same setup as Vince telling Angle "As the SOLE OWNER of the WWF..."

Could be, also a nice reminder of that WM XX opening with Vince holding Shane's son and Shane behind them. The idea that even though the Levesque girls (also you are assuming Steph and Paul want this life for them) are McMahons, it would feel weird to have a Capitol Wrestling/WWWF/WWF/WWE without the name "McMahon" around it on top.

However they are dismissive and end discussions. Therefore they are not good at all.Sometimes internet "discussions" need dismissive endings like a GIF or meme. Especially if being reminded how off the wall and not self aware the target seems to be.

Did Puppet H show up yet? That's the only thing from the trailer that I'm looking forward to. I miss Puppet H, but I miss the JBL/Cole show too, far more than I thought I would. Hornswoggle Lannister was great. Considering Bad News Barrett started there I can see why there was concern, but I still can't believe there were those who thought "Clem Layfield" was going to be a legit new character for Heath Slater.

Not being Stephanie and having stories about ruining creative by bringing soap opera writers - and I don't even remember if that was a Steph or Vince thing, but I do recall people blaming Steph for it - and being gone for so long made Shane someone the fans don't know enough about his backstage role so he's automatically "better" because he can't be any worse, I think. It wouldn't be unfair to suggest that there is something with Triple H's rise as the public corporate face and Shane getting "run out" of his family buisness.

I still can't get over the idea (and the video was produced within this year, as it listed Rusev and Kevin Owens) that Lesnar got buried after that first Cena feud when he came back! LOL! Anyway, right, the Punk match pretty much was the last time you had Brock do selling and not be the unstoppable force that he is hyped as being.
-
Remember when Brock used to actually take bumps in his original run? Holy shit, was he a great bumper. Watched a crazy YouTube channel go through "Top 10 Wrestlers Cena Has Buried" and Lesnar is on there for the job to Cena at Extreme Rules. Of course the WWE doesn't care what some YouTuber that is trying way to hard to be a Cena Hating Smark has to say, but it is interesting that with the exception of losing to Triple H at 'Mania, Brock hasn't shown any real vulnerability in matches since. Usually its someone getting lucky and taking advantage or distractions.

I think Kama and The Godfather are the same "character" though. In the way Blue Chipper Rocky Miavia evolved into The Rock, and Miavia simply was dropped. That is what happened here. Kama Mustafa just evolved into the pimp character The Godfather after Faarooq was turfed from The Nation and they stopped the group militant gimmick and went with "whatever floats your boat" gimmicks.

Mark James is definitely the guy's name. Book I was thinking of was Memphis Wrestling History Presents: 1982. http://www.amazon.com/Memphis-Wrestling-History-Presents-1982/dp/145368512X

A little Google-Fu, I think this is what I was talking about: http://prowrestlingradio.com/memphis-wrestling/
-
Ugh, I forget the show as it was years ago that I heard it, I don't think it was a PWO/VOW affiliated show, it may have been Wrestlespective, but I swear there was a book called Memphis Heat, or something like that, where the author chronicled the history of the Memphis Arena shows. Unfortunately a wrestling book called "Memphis Heat" is not showing up in an Amazon search (neither physical nor Kindle editions). LOL, sorry I can't help, but do some digging to find this guy and see if he'd be willing to co-host. Or maybe shoot Will a line as it might be a good rejuvenation of Will's wrestling enthusiasm these days =

I'd be a regular listener, go for it.

What is the greatest *worked* moment in televised wrestling history?
SteveJRogers replied to Parties's topic in Pro Wrestling
Probably Albano's turn and Piper going nuts during the Lauper presentation. Speaking of Piper, the Snuka coconut Pit has to rank up there. -
I"ll ask couple of network hosts whom have their "network" shows on seperate feeds, as they also have a dedicated catch all feed as well. It may be built into their site's costs then

A " total is greater than the sum of his parts" wrestlers

I don't know if Undertaker fits. Undertaker is a huge dude, has credible offense, and is ridiculously athletic for his size. That guy would have been a star in almost every single promotion. The Undertaker gimmick is essentially a handcuff on someone who probably would have been a better worker if he was a generic ass kicker. In a What If thread I posted, if he had the Mean Mark gimmck in November of 1990, the consensus was that he would not have lasted very long without his Deadman persona. -
I'd recommend a cost effective one that will allow for seperate feeds for each show.
-
Also, as I said, it could also have been that the Sheamus character has been decorated enough, especially with World and WWE Title reigns, that having to drop the big title less than a month after winning it would just roll off his back, as opposed to a Barrett who I'd imagine is a bit frustrated with all the injuries and aborted pushes and seemingly inconsequential secondary title reigns he has had over the years, that he sees that he should have had at least one reign with one of the big titles in the mix over all that time with the company.
-
Last time I looked, Barrett is in that mix at the top of wrestlers whom have had the most PPV matches with any of the recognized Heavyweight titles on the line, but never held the title. Granted there is a couple of Elimination Chambers and other multi-man matches in there (also amazing considering he wasn't in the 2016 Rumble for yet another notch on that total, and only LoN member not to be in the match), but still. Bulldog was in the lead in that category, with Finlay, of all people, tied with Barrett for second in that "distinction." Wouldn't surprise me if Regal leads the category of most PPV matches a WWF/WWE wrestler has had without one appearance in a match where a Heavyweight title was on the line. Unless he did it on a UK Only PPV that I didn't put into a spreadsheet of that info.
-
I do like how Barrett took note of it though. I can see him being discouraged after putting in a performance where he dropped the main belt after a short reign. Then again, it was what, Sheamus' 4th, 5th reign as a World Champion, with a few IC and US reigns in the mix, the character is decorated enough that I'm sure it doesn't faze Stephen Farrelly how short they are.
-
You think someone in a pre planned sport should act like how a non-scripted sport athlete does loosing his title outside of the kayfabe stage?

Along that line, Bryan and "The Yes Movement" showing the Occupy Raw punks from wherever they were the week before (I think Chicago) how its done, and getting Bryan not only a match against Triple H at 'Mania, but a shot at the Main Event in 'Mania as well. -
There is speculation that its a cover for a Wellness Policy failure.

BTW, Kal is still kicking after all these years. Quick Google News search pops this up, a quote about the recently deceased Jefferson Airplane founder Paul Kanter on the site for a media conglomerate about radio and the industry he, Kal, is the publisher of:
