I think Andre went down a last minute 5 spots on GWE for me based on that headlock alone. Backlund-Ivan was decent but nothing special. Not a card anybody needs to check out.

Caught the June 83 Philly WWF Show. Awful show. Andre-Studd is WORSE than the Cap Centre card the Titans buried if that's possible

Is there enough prime footage to make a judgment?

Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?
thebrainfollower replied to Loss's topic in Megathread archive
So Meltzer is reporting that TNA is up for sale with Panda no longer funding them. This has GOTTA be it right? -
I'd def give UT higher marks on psychology. You do have to look at it through playing the character of an undead zombie, so his psych is going to be unique.

You haven't watched any WWF stuff non PPV in the past ten years Parv. Fair enough. But I though the whole point of this exercise was to try to be as objective as possible and watch watch watch what you haven't seen. For you modern WWE is a major gap. Therefore in order for me to view your poll as having the most value possible you need to catch up on that for people who have been nominated. Raw too not just PPV. Likewise I needed to do a major catch up on lucha and am doing so. If there are any WWE wrestlers nominated you haven't seen or can recall a match of theirs in years, you should try and go back and watch them. As for Undertaker he might have a crack at my top 50. I think he did good work even during his gimmicky years at getting crowds into his stuff and worked around the limitations of his character. I'm a big fan of people working around WWE imposed limitations. Also to be blunt, who cares about the IWC "perception" of Taker from years back? Going there we would all have Brody in our top 30.

The Fabulous Freebirds (Michael Hayes & Jimmy Garvin)
thebrainfollower replied to Grimmas's topic in Tag Teams
If these guys make your list, Shane McMahon better be in your top 10 singles lol Terrible terrible team -
The Hardys got a very good match out of Test and Albert of all people in a red hot 6 man tag at Fully Loaded 2000. They definitely belong on the list.
-
The only payoff that would work is UT playing Chavo Guerrero to Shane's Stevie Ray. I cannot believe this thing has been going on two and a half years. Even they admit how sick of this their audience is, then they give us THAT finish to end Raw.
-
This whole Shane thing is so depressing. They are literally trolling their fanbase, giving hope this TERRIBLE TERRIBLE Authority storyline will finally end and just cutting the dreams of everyone with an UT HIAC match. There's no way UT doesn't go over. Wonderful, another year of the authority. Not to mention HHH is now the top babyface I give up. I don't want to watch a product that makes me sad all the time. I'm done And EVEN if Cena replaces him they've still just turned UT defacto heel unless he lays down on purpose which is a stupid stupid idea anyway.

Memphis podcast idea
thebrainfollower replied to thebrainfollower's topic in Publications and Podcasts
The good news is I have found (I THINK) a co-host for this idea. More of a Memphis expert, so the idea of someone old and someone new stays intact -
Lita had great charisma but I can't recall a decent promo in her. Rick Martel had good charisma but was a lousy promo, especially as a babyface.

Mystery Titans Theatre

I fell asleep at the Stallions-Bolsheviks match, then AGAIN at Beefcake-Honky so maybe I was being too nice. -

I am watching the 88 one now. Seems an okay B show to me to be honest. -

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fcq8Gna_ppw This card is pretty lousy though the main even is bizarre and interesting at least. It does have a good Rick Martel-Tama match as well -
Memphis podcast idea
thebrainfollower replied to thebrainfollower's topic in Publications and Podcasts
My plan was to review only full shows, and I think the first complete one is 11/11/78. I've got 13 as well from 1979 so the first 4 episodes would cover that. I just need a co-host, preferably someone who knows how to set all this up and works with the PTBN. -
I like Beefcake from 89 to his 90 accident usually. And he did what he had to do in the Dream Team.
-
Rumors have Taker facing someone not currently in WWE at the moment.

Confessions first, being born in 1979 in MA I never was able to watch Memphis Wrestling as a kid. I thought Jerry Lawler was a joke to be honest until I bought the Wrestling Gold set and learned otherwise. Anyway I have recently acquired about 200 episodes of Memphis TV (the Evansville show usually) from 78-84, the years that most fascinate and interest me. I was thinking of doing a podcast looking at 4 or so episodes a month. The idea would be to have a Memphis expert team up with me, a total newbie to Memphis week in and week out, and look at those years as they developed. I think the idea of having someone raised WWF style working with an expert might have a strange appeal. Anyone else see this as an idea with legs for the PTBN as a pitch? Anyone here interested in such a project? If there is one already set up I apologize for intruding. Thanks

Hating the Bushwhackers seems as pointless as hating Jimmy Valiant to me. Both are harmless fun. Hating Buck Z, yeah that I get.

Bret Hart v. Shawn Michaels - a feud or a rivalry?

Completely agreed. -

I guess the month between Bad Blood and Survior Series was a feud.
