  1. 1992 Royal Rumble - match that won me over live to the greatness of Ric Flair, I'd get a look at so many of the wrestlers I grew up with and the greatest commentary of all time. WM VII - Warrior vs. Macho King - The greatest feel good moment in wrestling history War Games 1992 - Favorite WCW match of the decade for me, and again I get a look at many different guys I love.
  2. Rivalry. They had a feud in the summer of 92 and that's really it as far as a traditional feud goes. Everything in 97 was real life hate and a rivalry but not really a month in month out feud.
  3. Pretty much liked that one a lot. But the finish indeed is total BS as is his never dropping the title himself. I know Parv is right politics and work are two different things. But with HHH I cannot separate them.
  4. I guess this is her farewell present. Good for her getting out and starting the family she wants and kudos to WWE for giving her a little something on the way out. If she is gone I wonder if TD stays around.
  5. The Randy Liz hug is wrestling transcending wrestling and becoming art anyone can love.
  6. If not for politics few if any would get the shot at the top tier needed to be able to do GWE work though. I would argue my basic problem with the way Dusty books Flair is that it ends up making him look weak and the face like a moron. Nobody really looks great. And that booking style carried on at times after Dusty left. None of which is Flair's fault.
  7. Anyone who puts HHH ahead of Arn would be banned if it were up to me. He's not the worst person involved in wrestling of course. There's Buck Z(which I only learned about through Johnny Sorry) and people like that. But there's no one who's done more IN wrestling I've ever disliked. I'd take a darn bullet for Vince Russo before I could be in a civil conversation with HHH.
  8. There's a knee and the long heel title run. Other than that there's not much of Flair in HHH. HHH would not make a list of any amount of wrestlers I could name. There is nobody in wrestling I despise more. Ignoring all the political stuff, his matches have bored me from day 1. Even the vaunted Foley classics I see as Foley doing far more of the work than most seem to see. About the only I liked was the ladder match from Summerslam and that's almost all due to Rock. HHH is so many of the things wrong with wrestling put into a single person it's not even funny. And it's not "great heel heat" it's to the point that I usually just turn the channel or leave the room if he's on, and I've felt that way since about 1999. Before that he was just a nuisance I didn't care for. Having said that he absolutely did the right thing at the end in the Daniel Bryan feud. I give him that. He's more willing to make talent look at his expense than his wife is.
  9. The Titans have got to find a way to interview Kal. I'm from MA and I'll drive a Titan to meet him if need be. With video quality, I kinda don't mind low quality. Wrestling was on the UHF stations when I grew up, with "snowy" picture and so so audio. Lousy quality is nostalgic for me.
  10. The only thing that prevents this from being the GOAT feud is the lack of a finish. It never really ended, Austin got hurt and never had a final match with Bret. But darn I remember watching this week and week out and being so excited after 2 years of being bored with the WWF. This feud drew me back in like nothing before it had. Favorite part is probably the attack on Bret in the ambulance and WM XIII of course.
  11. I just copy a copy of this whole card and watched it in sync with the podcast. It works amazingly well, and definitely simulates being there. This is a really good card too, Philly is such a hidden gem as only a few Philly matches made CHV later in the decade.
  12. You still need a hero. WWE has no clue how to make one or a willingness to push those people for whom it might work.
  13. I completely agree. There's being a heel and then there's being a worthless contemptible scumbag and this guy is the latter.
  14. This set predates the network by a good few years. I came close to picking it up but just downloaded it instead. I already had about half the clashes but wanted the quality upgrade at the time. Nowadays you would think WWE sets aimed at collectors (Owen Hart) would not contain the obvious PPV matches on the network but they still usually do.
  15. Here's the deal with Jesse's commentary. They have worked out a deal where they have to pay him if they use his commentary, which they can do. So they work around him whenever possible. So for a Wrestlemania set or a SNME set they pony up the cash. For something like this, they work around it by not showing matches with him on commentary, which is also why you see so little 92. If there's 1-2 matches on a release with his commentary they edit him out of those to avoid paying him anything. Freebirds - Hayes works for them Morton/Koloff - who knows Battle Royal - good sampling of the talent roster for casual fans.
  16. Can we rename this the "funny attempts to turn Johnny Sorry heel" thread
  17. I am thinking someone booking the divas read this and felt bad for Brie too lol
  18. Read my Trish microscope thread for how I write reviews. I've never put that much though into a writing style for that to be honest, It's just a wrestling review. I usually don't do PBP unless it's a match I doubt most of those I am writing for have studied or looked at beyond a cursory glance. Anyone doing PBP for the 3 match Flair-Steamboat on here at this point, I don't see the need.
  19. HHH has hated Rock for half my life. He will do everything he can to make sure Rock never comes back once Vince dies.
  20. Well there's something you don't see every day.
  21. He knew how to be cool and get an audience going. Hold them in the palm of his hand, there's a lot of talent there. Technically no not all that much but neither was that the point of him. I'm not of fan of him, George Steele, Hillbilly Him etc but you can't deny the man's charisma or talent as a perfomer.
  22. I missed Raw. That was pretty funny and for the WWE not to understand what Rock was doing there and how it worked, they are the very definition of not cool.
  23. The Brie Bella losing streak snapped in the most surprising way I can think of. Unless this is killing time for Mania or something I'm lost as to the point though. Unless John Cena's magical surgery healing powers can be transferred during sex, I can't see Nikki coming back at WM which is where it looks like that would be going.
  24. I think that makes a lot of sense Loss. What do you think happens with Cena if he's still around wanting an active career if Vince dies? It's more likely Cena wraps up his career with Vince, but who knows. I am still not 100% convinced the WWF even survives past Vince more than 5 years to be honest. I don't think HHH or Stephanie have the skill set to run a company, though the support structure is there, but I could them taking all that apart and not being able to rebuild.
  25. With Savage-Steamboat there are a few factors. For one Steamboat was on his way out the door, so why put him over any talent? For two Steamboat has zero experience working heel which means Savage might have to play default heel. Given he's winning the world title and is going to headline cards as a face for the next 10 months, that's not a risk worth taking just to get one quality match. Tully and Nikita should have happened. Who do you make Nikita's mouthpiece? Blassie makes the most sense, he handled the foreign heels and had Volkoff already. But the thing is.......I'd argue WM was more about seeing Hogan whup on Bobby Heenan than building Bundy to be the next big challenger. I guess Heenan could manage a Russian but something about that seems just off. Not sure why I feel that way. Tully turning on Flair should have happened of course.
