Super No Vacancy Podcast Thread
bradhindsight replied to soup23's topic in Publications and Podcasts
I was incredibly impressed - a straight-through 43 minute fireside chat. You had good energy throughout. Thinking hard about getting NJPW World now. -
re: Trips and Stephanie at the Super Bowl - fairly certain NBC Universal set them up, not the Patriots.

[2013-04-07-NJPW-Invasion Attack] Hiroshi Tanahashi vs Kazuchika Okada
bradhindsight replied to Loss's topic in April 2013
re: your small gripe, I took it as he was able to hook it on the second time because of the work he had done on Tanahashi's back and core. So essentially Tanahashi didn't have the strength to counter. That said, great point about how to break that submission. Would have been a great touch if he tried to swing his arm back and hit the elbow. I watched the AXS TV version of this today, so the announcers and presentation probably helped my opinion of this one but i thought the booking, psychology and pace was just awesome. I also had no idea going in what the result was really into every nearfall. Went ****3/4 . Leaps better than their WK 7 match. -
Royal Rumble 2015 Reaction Show w/PWO crew
bradhindsight replied to Loss's topic in Publications and Podcasts
Pete asked me how it fared numbers-wise and it was incredibly successful. Strongest yet. You may chalk this up to a polarizing PPV like the Rumble but the real answer is: Dave Musgrave = draw -
Royal Rumble 2015 Reaction Show w/PWO crew

I agree with this also - after Reigns won and he just kept celebrating to a booing crowd. Enough was enough at that point. Happy it didn't happen though. -
I didn't realize we're in the same boat here. Undertaker selling the hip was real good. Like you said - made the ending a little in doubt.

Have the exact same scenario, but no clue what the problem is with Firefox. It's been that way for almost a month now. This is actually happening to me now...on Chrome.

If you want to tweak with Bryan and bray from last year , we can update Steven. It's a big hit,

Love having Will join in on a live network watch.

[GWE] Intrinsic values for GWE candidates
bradhindsight replied to JerryvonKramer's topic in Pro Wrestling
I think there is a lot of merit to a tool like this when it comes to finding a snapshot of how you particularly rank a GWE candidate. Yes, there is additional nuance when it comes to ranking wrestlers against each other in the end, but this, at the very minimum, gives you a nice outline of how your tiers would look. I don't understand the posts challenging certain ratings for different wrestlers. The point was to talk about the thought process and the hurdles or gaps one may find when using this methodology, not how Parv ranks two guys' psychology. Opinions, ya know? -
Titans of Wrestling #40: A Very Bruno Christmas

We were talking about this, looks like they may have added a bumper or something. They're all there.

Punk lost the title at SummerSlam, and then started his year-long run a couple of months later so I'm not sure how that buyrate played negatively into his push at all.
-
Isn't that more a (very warranted) critique of how the WWE regularly books their main event heels rather than something that should be attributed to Heyman? If Punk didn't align with Heyman, is he booked that differently?

Will is joined by Kris Zellner, Dylan Hales (Wrestling Culture), Pete and Johnny (Titans of Wrestling) to talk TLC and S 2014. Plenty of opinions to go around as we discuss the best matches on the show, Roman Reigns' return, the future of the company, comparisons to the NXT Special and a preview of the Royal Rumble. All this and more!! http://placetobenation.com/tlc-and-stairs-2014-reaction-show/

Titans of Wrestling #39: WWF April -May 1981

Great show guys, really liked the push for Slaughter in the GWE at the end. Really good analysis. -
Titans of Wrestling #39: WWF April -May 1981
bradhindsight replied to JerryvonKramer's topic in Publications and Podcasts
In the history of Titans of Wrestling, yes, Johnny is hilarious week-to-week with a ton of quality and quantity but damn if Kelly doesn't have a couple of the best lines in the show's history. This being one of them. -
Three years too early. Today, with the Network model, it's more feasible for them to draw it out. Back then, it was all PPV driven. They would have had more room to be creative (their creative, limited at best) had they done this in June also - having the Rey/Cena match in July and then the rematch at SummerSlam.
-
With your storyline, I'd agree that there was more long term money (Cena heel turn as the vehicle for the rest of the Punk feud). With what they went with, I don't see how holding him out to do other appearances would have eventually drawn any more money for them (especially with the Rock returning). Creatively the story ended up being terrible but my point is just that financially, given the information they had after mitb (the buzz, and buyrate), I can understand why they wanted to run the rematch so soon.
