So underrated, I love the Sarge. Tremendous bumper, tremendous brawler. Classics with Steamboat/Youngblood, all out wars with Backlund, Sheik, Patterson. He had some fun stuff with Hogan in 91 that doesn't get much love. He's still entertaining in the 2000's bumping around like a lunatic for guys half his age.

Weird that there were no repercussions for Edge, as far as I remember. I mean, you break a guy's neck in your very first televised match.. .

Pretty sure it doesn't work that way. Just because they edit something doesn't mean it's permanent, they still keep the original masters.Yea, WWE has the original masters so that is an easy fix. But the music issue might be the biggest one cause I doubt the older promotions recorded their shows with seperate audio channels. But the older promotions didn't do many commercial releases, so the tapes in the WWE vault still have "Freebird" for the 'Birds, "Tom Sawyer" for Kerry, etc.

They really should have given the NXT guys entrances. They did a pretty decent job putting them over otherwise.

I enjoyed the HHH interview tremendously. The shitfaced Gordon Solie story was hysterical.

So...... they're not dead?

Place to Be Podcast Episode 329: WrestleMania XIX
The Chief replied to Bigelow34's topic in Publications and Podcasts
I'm curious as to what Scott means when he says the fans weren't ready for an NWA style match in HHH/Booker. I don't think there was anything NWA about it. Like so many HHH performances, it was just the wrong match for the storyline and while competently worked, it was completely tone def. And HHH as the touring NWA champ Race/Flair hybrid is just one of those things that WWE has repeated so many times it's just accepted as fact by some fans. There's really nothing about Hunter's work that puts him in that category other than the fact that he's a heel champ and he does a knee. -
Pretty sure it's not supposed to be a secret that they're really the Rhodes brothers...

Titus has way too much presence to be put into situations like this. I've heard he's improved, but DAMN his offense looks crisp now.

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 3

Which is exactly what he said on a SmackDown from 2003. -
Bix, I enjoyed the announcers article. I love finding out little pieces of trivia like this and some of these really surprised me. A lot of strange stuff popped up on those third tier shows. Speaking of strange, does anybody remember Gorilla Monsoon doing Superstars commentary as late as 1999? The international Superstars was Shotgun matches taped with new commentary and he was on a lot of them. I'm not sure when he stopped seeing as how he passed away that year, but it's downright bizarre hearing Gorilla talking about Mr. McMahon training for the Royal Rumble.

Had no clue Vader worked Japan in 1998, he was under WWE contract until the fall.

On Austin's podcast today, he absolutely nails the problems with Ziggler's work. Hits the nail right on the head.

As long as Lesnar keeps the belt I have no problem with it.
-
I really hope that The Rock doesn't get involved in any way, that idea is horrible on so many levels.
-
You sold me on Swagger vs. Lesnar. Swagger will need some rehabbing but it's not impossible. He's the kind of guy who would benefit just from being in the same room as Brock. And there's already some history between Heyman and Zeb they can build on.
-
I would love to see Ryback or Mark Henry stand up to Lesnar.
-
You can criticize Gorilla all you want, but I think his biggest strength is that he's a genuinely likeable human being. That goes a long way when you're the voice of a promotion. The fans trust Gorilla.

I'm actually somewhat optimistic about the show. Will be watching with a big group of friends so at the very least it will be fun.

Where the Big Boys Play #65 - Great American Bash 91
The Chief replied to JerryvonKramer's topic in Publications and Podcasts
So Bret/Flair, yeah... Anyways, what I wanna know is what the fuck was the point of PN News? I don't see a problem with the gimmick, but why HIM of all people? They couldn't get somebody who looked cool to play the character? He looked like a food cart vendor trying to fit into his grade school Halloween costume. How did this guy get a job with the second biggest US wrestling company? -
Watched Golberg vs Christian in a cage from Raw in 2003. This is EXACTLY what Goldberg vs Jericho should have been in 1998. Christian is such a slaezy douche in this match, you can't wait for Goldberg to crush him. This is probably more of a Christian match than a Goldberg match, but I think it's worth mentioning. Booking Goldberg against Rock in his first match was really dumb. Say all you want about his WWE run, but he really did get strong reactions against "real" heels. He should have toppled HHH right off the bat, but, you know...

I can't put my finger on it but I really don't like Slater and Titus as a tag team. And I'm a huge fan of both guys.
