If this was a real vote, its kind of amusing that 53% of the universe voted for the 3-on-1 option. The result played pretty well into the night long storyline of Bray claiming he is converting the universe to his side. Cena got beat up for 12 minutes, made a comeback and nearly won the match until he was overwhelmed. Bray closes the show singing He's Got The Whole World In His Hands while cradling Cena's head. Creepy ending but WWE is very quickly overdoing the song.

For the first few weeks, Paige was a little overcome by the big stage. This is the first time she came out showing some confidence. Once the match started she took it to Aksana, showing a real mean streak. A nice little match, despite the crowd not caring one bit.

[2014-04-21-WWE-Raw] Rob Van Dam, Paul Heyman and Cesaro
xlynwoodx replied to Loss's topic in April 2014
Heyman seemed to be trying to old heel trick of talking RVD into giving Cesaro a rematch since his victory was tainted. RVD wasn't having it, claiming his conscience was clear and warned Cesaro to keep his "wallet, house, and future" as far away from Heyman as possible. -
[2014-04-21-WWE-Raw] Paul Heyman promo / Cesaro vs Rob Van Dam
xlynwoodx replied to Loss's topic in April 2014
Heyman starts to rant in the ring while they go to commercial. They come back and he was still at it. The match started off weird. RVD looked to be moving pretty slowly, Cesaro had to slow himself down a couple times to accommodate RVD. Throughout the match, the camera kept cutting away to Heyman making faces outside the ring in the middle of a move. They did this spot where Cesaro tried to throw RVD shoulder first into the post but RVD stopped himself. Cesaro bounced off the ropes and kicked him into the post. I liked the play on a spot that has gotten pretty routine. Later there was a nice battle in the corner that ended with RVD hitting the split-leg moonsault. Swagger eventually came out to take out Cesaro and give RVD the count out win. Hoping this mean Barrett gets the title shot. -
Cena continues the story that fans are supporting Bray Wyatt over him. If the fans vote Cena vs. the family, he will support it. His objective for tonight is to survive.

[2014-04-21-WWE-Raw] Jimmy & Jey Uso vs Cody Rhodes & Goldust
xlynwoodx replied to Loss's topic in April 2014
Four minute match that lacked cohesion, the Rhodes Bros especially looked out of sync. Ryback and Hennig on commentary were a highlight, the put both teams over strong and looked formidable when attacking the Usos after the match. Rhodes Bros breakup looks imminent. I enjoyed them as a team while it lasted, their match at Battleground against the Shield was one of the highlights of 2013. -
The outfits Evolution wear are perfect for their personalities. HHH is wearing classic CEO attire, Batista is trying way too hard to be fashionable, and Orton is the dumb jock in the only dress shirt and pants he has in his closet. They talk, show a video where everyone looked a lot younger, and talk some more. Something was up with Hunter's voice. The Shield come out and Ambrose is head and shoulders above everyone in the promo department. Rollins talked for a while, he did a good job trying to sow dissension between Evolution. The Shield tried to start a brawl and Evolution brought out all the heels from last weeks match to avoid a fight. I wish they kept Rusev away from this.

"It's hard for an egg to become a bird. But an egg can never fly." This was the first of two Bo Dallas promos, and was probably my favorite so far. The commentary team laughing at it afterwards is concerning. His gimmick works when he thinks he is a face but the crowd hates him, WWE has never been good with nuance.

This was the match of the night. I've been enjoying the midcard lately, this whole IC tournament has been dudes just beating on each other. Sheamus was all over the place in this match, he seems very motivated right now. They hit each other with some big moves and got a "This Is Awesome" chant going before Wade hit a surprise Bull Hammer elbow as Sheamus recklessly ran towards him. Barrett is really loving this gimmick, I hope the win propels him to the IC title.

[2014-04-21-WWE-Raw] Daniel Bryan, Brie Bella, Stephanie McMahon and Kane
xlynwoodx replied to Loss's topic in April 2014
I thought it was strange this started off the show and Bryan didn't even say a word. I read later that Bryan's father had just passed away so it made sense to get him off television as quickly as possible. Kane returned with the mask and destroyed Bryan. He gave Bryan a Tombstone on the floor and another on the ring steps. Bryan did a stretcher job, then got attacked again and took a third Tombstone on a table. Kane does this thing with his Tombstones where his feet leave the ground and he drops straight onto his knees. It looks so mean and has to be a killer on his knees. Good build for Extreme Rules, Kane looks like a monster again. -
Fujiwara was 43 here, Vale 35. I thought Fujiwara looked old when he came to ring and I had to look it up. He was pretty aggressive from the start, and came out on top of every grappling battle, forcing Vale to the ropes with regularity. He hit a nasty headbutt on Vale that dropped him like a sack of potatoes, but Vale made it back to his feet somehow. As the bout progressed, Vale started to get the upper hand as Fujiwara began to slow down. Fujiwara had Vale in a leglock and Vale just kicked him in the mouth to get free. Seeing these guys kick with boots on always make me cringe a little. Fujiwara got to his feet, but got taken down pretty quickly and caught in a choke hold. I thought it was weird when Vale let go and stood up, but Fujiwara was out.

It's always pretty daunting to sit down and watch a match that you know is an hour long. It's not something I can start late at night, I have to make sure I have enough free time where I won't be distracted for an hour. With that said, these four guys made an hour fly by. I liked the format where guys had to tag in and out to be active. At the beginning, I wondered how long that would last before it broke down, but it held up for the most part. It helped add to the story as you had to be "legal" in order to get a pinfall or submission. Low Ki clearly seemed to be the star for the crowd, as well as in the match. I thought he was wonderful throughout. His offense was spectacular and his selling was great. There was a moment early on where he was rubbing out his knee after Williams had been working on the leg that I don't see often. Later, he suffered the first pinfall after some dirty business from Daniels, his nemesis, which put him in a hole. He spent the next portion dead outside the ring before slowly returning to the action. He won the next fall with the coolest sequence of the night, as Williams German Suplexed Low Ki right overhead, Low Ki caught Spanky in a Dragon Sleeper as he flew through the air, and got a tap out. At this point, everyone is exhausted and doing whatever they can to score points. Low Ki lands on his head while attempting a Phoenix Splash on Doug Williams that gets him another pinfall. The time limit ends as Daniels and Low Ki are battling it out in the ring. Low Ki gets the title while Daniels got a pinfall over the new champ, setting up another match between the two rivals. Despite Steve Corino sounding like he was commentating through a cell phone, I really want to mention how great I thought the commentary was. They did a fantastic job detailing the history of the wrestlers, the promotion, and the importance of the match. If this was your first time ever watching ROH, you would have a complete understanding of the company's rules, the backstory for all the wrestlers, as well as how wrestling in a gym in Philadelphia with no air conditioning in the middle of July was affecting the wrestlers. My favorite anecdote was Corino talking about Daniels wrestling in tiny arenas in Japan as Curry Man, and how he had an advantage in this match because he was used to wrestling in a mask, but he wasn't in ROH so he would be able to breathe a lot easier than he typically does in the conditions they were in.

Granted, I'm watching this on the Network seven years after it aired, but the only promo I saw is the same one that had been airing previously. It's still very goofy.

This was a rematch from a few weeks ago where Batista got DQ'd for "bringing out the Animal" and hitting Sheamus with a chair prior to WM30. This was a hard-hitting, back and forth affair that went in an out of the ring. Sheamus got a bit of revenge as he threw Batista into the commentary booth, Batista came back by kicking the ring steps into him and throwing him into the barricade. Neither man was able to string more than a few moves together right up until the finish, they avoided each others big moves until Sheamus got caught going to the top rope. Batista crotched him, then hit the Batista Bomb for the win. Sheamus has been kind of treading water lately, he needs a good feud to get some momentum going.

Barrett comes out to call us dumb for liking the minis match. I like that he still has something to do on shows when he doesn't have a match.

After winning the title on her first night in, Paige now has to prove herself by taking on all comers. After beating Alicia Fox on Raw, Paige is up against Aksana. Aksana plays essentially the same "This is MY ring!" role. She really lays her offense on in Paige, trying to Big Sister her around the ring. Paige is game for it and gets the win with the Scorpion Crosslock again. Sick move. Paige showed some more personality this time with her primal screams. Paige has taken some real abuse in her first two matches on television and she has Tamina on deck at Extreme Rules. Tamina is probably the biggest, meanest diva on the roster and looks to be a physical threat to Paige, who is still getting her bearings in the company.

[2014-04-18-WWE-Smackdown] "MY CLIENT BROCK LESNAR CONQUERED THE STREAK"
xlynwoodx replied to Loss's topic in April 2014
NYC greaseball Heyman comes out to insult the Tennessee crowd and repeat 30 times that his client, Brock Lesnar, conquered the streak. Everything about Paul Heyman just screams "cheap lawyer" and I love him for it. The fake crowd noise helped, since the crowd on camera was more interested in waving for the cameras. -
[2014-04-18-WWE-Smackdown] Alberto Del Rio vs Big E.
xlynwoodx replied to Loss's topic in April 2014
Big E looked good here. He's freakin huge, but moves with a pretty good pace throughout. He took a few nice bumps, one flying outside the ring and another flying into the ringpost. Del Rio did a good job staying on top of Big E, not letting him have any space. I like Del Rio enough in the ring, but he has lost a ton of personality since his time on top. Del Rio gets the Cross Armbreaker on Big E and gets DQ'd after Big E gets the ropes and he doesn't let go. That's not a finish you see very often. Del Rio beats on Big E after the bell but Big E eventually turns things around and hits the Big Ending. -
HHH cuts a promo with a 3 minute RAW recap cut into the middle of it. He may have given the Shield too much power, but they are merely soldiers and they have lost their value to him. Evolution will face the Shield at Extreme Rules. Adapt or Perish = Evolution.

[1986-12-06-WWF-Boston, MA] Hulk Hogan vs Kamala
xlynwoodx replied to paul sosnowski's topic in December 1986
Pretty basic "Monster Heel v. Hogan" match that I enjoyed as a throwback to an era where you could run off that cycle for years as your superstar champion faces all comers. This is Kamala's first run in the WWF. Leading in to this match, he hasn't been pinned. He uses a tooth of some sort to bloody up Hogan. Hogan gets beat up for a while, Hulks Up, drops the leg, and poses in the ring. The Kamala gimmick is interesting to watch as it was definitely of its time, and would never exist today. -
They announce a 20 minute time limit to start, two matches before JYD & Adrian Adonis had a 1 hour time limit. The heels take forever to get started. The Islanders take control pretty quickly and there is an extended beatdown on Valentine. Haku does this move where he stands on Valentine's ankles and spreads his legs apart, then screams in his face. Valentine dodges an attack from Tama and he goes flying to the outside. His facials are great here, he is selling like his knee is destroyed. Haku has to pick him up and place him back in the ring so they don't get counted out. The heels take over here and they proceed to cheat and beat Tama down for a while, but never to the knee. Beefcake stomps and stomps away to the chest. Valentine drops an elbow to the gut. Tama is in trouble, but after selling a serious knee injury after the tumble to the outside it turns into an average heel beatdown. Haku eventually gets the hot tag and the crowd goes wild. Tama comes off the top with a huge cross body, and the bell rings for the time limit draw. Good match but I was let down that they didn't really follow up at all on Tama's leg. I really liked Tama here. He sold well, moved with speed, had some exciting offense, and was especially fired up at the result of the match. I was surprised because he has to be the least well known of the four men in this match.
