  1. It's another way of saying cuck. Because, of course, masculinity is also determined by what one eats. So, basically, anyone who cares or gives a shit or holds people accountable for the wack shit that they do is a cuck, a soyboy or a SJW. And we can file all that crap under right-wing, edgelord bullshit. Can it, Corpses.
  2. Invincible ended???? Woah. Didn't see that coming. I jumped off a couple years ago or so, but I'm gonna have to pick up the trades and see it through. Oh man, that sounds glorious. I would read the hell out of those. I had to cancel my pull list earlier this year, but I was reading Sex Criminals, Walking Dead, Kill or Be Killed and Southern Bastards. I'll read pretty much anything Ed Brubaker writes. I absolutely adore Fatale, loved The Fade Out, and the Criminal series is so damn good. What I have of his Captain America run is really cool, too. I really dug Matt Fraction's Hawkeye run. If you've read Southern Bastards (and you should), check out Jason Aaron's previous series, Scalped.
  3. TV Breaking Bad Friday Night Lights Twin Peaks The Shield Better Call Saul Six Feet Under Batman: The Animated Series Star Trek: The Next Generation Seinfeld The Wonder Years Music My three favorite bands are ALL, Fugazi and Black Sabbath. I mostly jam a lot of metal, hardcore and punk. I try to cast as wide a net as possible, though. I fuck with a little jazz and I've developed a bit of a goth streak lately. Been dipping into industrial and EBM, too. Really digging Front 242 and Youth Code. I have no guilty pleasures, either. If I like it, that's the long and the short of it. That explains "Sure Know Something" being my favorite KISS song. I can't get away from Thin Lizzy and Steely Dan for the last couple years, especially Thin Lizzy. Always dug 'em, but life needed to knock me around a bit before I could really hang. I'm single with no kids. I'm a bartender and a server. I'm damn good at what I do, but I'd really like to do something else for a living. It's a young person's game and my knees hurt. I'm peopled the fuck out. As far as vices go, it's drinkin'. I'm not physically addicted and I can do a month or two without it, no problem. But, once I get my buzz on, it's hard to stop. I like beer and I love scotch and bourbon, but gettin' drunk gets in the way of living anymore. It's a big reason why I want to get out of the service industry; I'm around it all the damn time. I love basketball. It's the only sport I make time for anymore. I grew up with the Bad Boys-era Detroit Pistons and I've been hooked ever since. As far as other hobbies outside of Our Great Sport, I play drums. Lots of blast beats and D-beats. Been workin' on shuffles a lot lately, too. Had to cancel my pull list due to financial concerns, but I was reading Sex Criminals, The Walking Dead, Southern Bastards and anything by Ed Brubaker. Lastly, and most importantly, I have a three and half year old boxer named Boris. He is the cutest, silliest, sweetest little boy in the whole entire world.
  4. AWESOME. Looking forward to it.
  5. Going to the Detroit show tomorrow. I GET TO SEE LIGER. So stoked.
  6. I was there too! I lived right down the road from that venue and caught every show. Miss those days.
  7. Nah, he's from Romeo. Grew up on six acres and had horses. Dude is fucking wack and everyone in the city proper has always known it.
  8. Not a shock, but I gotta drop out of this for the time being. Just got a 2nd job and I've got some music things going on over the next month. I'll get the review I owe up soon and hopefully I can link back up with this. It was fun.
  9. I think i should sit out this week. I'm working a lot and I still need to get last week's review up.
  10. Word. I'll have my review of last week's match up tomorrow. If no one jumps back in tomorrow, just gimme a week off. Ain't no thing, I'm still down for the project. Tomorrow's my only day off in the space of eleven, though.
  11. There's no way they would have seen it coming that far back. It wasn't an issue until the record industry completely shit the bed and artists needed to secure rights and licensing agreements to continue making money. ECW was the last bastion of it, and it coincided with the last record industry boom. Would love to have complete runs of ECW and the territories with the original music. It bothers the hell out of me that the Midnight Express' theme isn't on the Network. But with ROH, I really, REALLY don't need to hear AFI, The Final Countdown or Self-Esteem by The Offspring ever again. They could edit all that stuff out for their streaming service and it would not bother me at all. I'll say this: Outside of PWG's constant Dio references and CFO$ occasionally knocking a theme out of the park, the wrestling business has wildly awful taste in music.
  12. Migs gave me The Elite vs ACH, Matt Sydal, and Kushida from ROH's 14th Anniversary show. I wrote a lump of coal about it. http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/41071-the-elite-vs-matt-sydal-ach-and-kushida-roh-14th-anniversary-show-22616/
  13. I guess this is The Elite's touring match? Basically, this is them doing their shtick and the crowd eating it up. What's funny to me is that with all the comedy and wink-wink, nudge-nudge shit going on, they just have to get in all the crazy shit they do, and it's the other team that has to take the bumps for the most part. It went from crotch chops, Too Sweet's and ACH's Austin tribute spot (which was the funniest part of the match), right into Matt Sydal taking an avalanche German on the ramp after that headscissor/superkick combo. Anyway, this is what is and I don't think it really warrants any deeper thought than that. This is big fun for their fans, but if you ain't into The Elite, ain't nothin' here that's gonna change your mind.
  14. Rah had me check out Brodie Lee vs Sami Callihan from Evolve 8 last week. http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/40687-sami-callihan-vs-brodie-lee-evolve-8-05202011/
  15. I didn't dig this match as much as I thought I would on first watch. I've never been all that sold on Sami Callihan. Not that I ever thought he was a bad worker, I just don't dig his look or his character all that much. Plus, five minutes in and we've got a chop battle, which get on my nerves more often than not. Then, there was that missed chop to the post that never really got followed up on. BUT. The second time through, I dug this match. The chop battle doesn't last all that long, and Brodie Lee ain't the type of guy that's gonna work over a hand. So, I chucked that shit out the window and what we have here is a really tight, physical match. There's no real fat on this at all. Just a shade under fifteen minutes of Lee and Callihan beatin' the breaks off of each other, with a good, simple story to boot. Lee, in particular, is awesome at cutting off Callihan's offense. I liked that Sami didn't really get a sustained run of offense until a little over halfway through the match, but he got enough shots in along the way that when he finally does get his momentum, it doesn't come out of nowhere. I can say what I want about his haircut or whatever, but he's a tenacious little fucker in this match. I get the feeling Lee could work this match in his sleep, and I really wish he could get the chance to show this kind of stuff in the WWE. That Liger Bomb and Spinning Truck Stop both ruled. The ending wasn't what I expected, but I liked the fact that they didn't drag the tap out for too long and it was also cool that they didn't beat ya over the head with legwork. There was just enough that it felt earned. Solid match, and even though that venue looks like a cool place to watch our great sport, a bigger crowd gettin' loud really would've amped this match up.
  16. Oooooh, I'm gonna watch that, too.
  17. Haha! Your posts rocked. Thank you.
  18. This isn't the best match on the show, but I think it's my favorite. I wasn't excited for it at all, because I really don't like UE and I knew they weren't gonna lose the belts so soon. But, they took this match in a completely unexpected direction with that AoP face in peril segment and UE came outta nowhere with a very smartly worked match. It made complete sense, the ending was legitimate, and I thought Akam's selling was phenomenal. Completely in step with the AoP gimmick. This match came outta nowhere. I dig the hell out of AoP and they showed a lot of growth here. Couldn't stand UE and now I'm excited to see what they do next. Hell, I thought Kyle O'Reilly was a fucking dork and he rocked the crap out of this match. AND THAT LARIAT. Goddamn.
  19. While I'm at it, I have some blind spots I'd like to address, so I'll gladly watch whatever matches y'all can throw at me in the following areas: BattlArts UWF/UWF-I 80s New Japan Joshi, both current and classic Current indies (Progress, Joey Janela, Walter, etc. Don't really need to see any PWG stuff, I know what to expect from them) Lucha, particularly the big, classic singles matches and brawls.
  20. I'm still in. I'll have my review for last week's match up tomorrow.
  21. Thanks, homey. Sent your match to ya. Which, by the way and for the resta y'inz, is Dick Murdoch vs Terry Gordy, October 8th, 1982.
  22. @Rah Where can I find that? Quick YouTube and Google searches haven't produced. I'll have your match to ya soon.
  23. Love that Mauro impression and Kenny kneeing himself in the face. That OWA to himself was hilarious.
  24. PeteF3 had me watch Ole Anderson vs Magnum TA from December of '85 on Tha Muthasheeip. Here's my thoughts: http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/40959-ole-anderson-vs-magnum-ta-122885-wcw/&do=findComment&comment=5828693
  25. This isn't the best Ole Anderson match, but it may be the definitive one. If it isn't, it certainly displays all of his strengths as a singles worker. While the match doesn't have much of the classic Anderson "pick a limb and ruin it" strategy, it has Ole's selling, his mean-ass heel tactics, and simple, punishing offense. He brings Magnum down to Mother Earth with a hair pull to win a top wristlock, he's got a sick knee lift to a kneeling TA, eye rakes, slaps, body slams, and some basic armwork. All of it looks good and looks like it hurts. I really dig the atmosphere of the match. Ole and Magnum are within punching and kicking distance the whole time, and coupled with the confines of the Techwood studio, this match really has the feel of a close-quarters slugfest. Ole even busts out a couple corner bear hugs, which damn near gives it an MMA cage clinch feel, 15 years ahead of time. While this isn't a carry job, Ole makes this match. He's not out there throwing bombs or doing a bunch of stuff to fill time, but he's got a lot more variety to his offense than Magnum does. He completely established the structure of the match. His selling is off the charts, too. One particular instance that illustrates the difference in work between he and Magnum is after Magnum does some arm work, Ole shakes it off and holds his arm a little when he transitions to offense. It's nothing huge, just a little touch that Magnum missed after Ole's armwork. Ole also sells the exhaustion and punishment of the match incredibly, too. It's subtle, but take a look at his face any time he's on the receiving end of Magnum's flurries of punches. He's not wincing or hamming it up like Arn would. Rather, it's a look of "I'm a tough motherfucker, but this SUCKS and it hurts and he's wearing me out." To Magnum's credit, he also sells the exhaustion of the match really well. Where he falters is that 80% of his offense is punching. He punches for face shine, he punches to transition, and then he keeps on punching. He doesn't bust out a drop kick or a slam until well after the first commercial break. A little more variety here would have been nice, especially in the transition department. Were it not for Ole, this match would not have been anywhere near as entertaining. He punches his ass off, too, but he carries the action with his offense. I don't want to spoil how it ends for those who haven't seen it, but I thought it was a good way to tie in the burgeoning Four Horsemen versus, well, damn near everyone feud. It was also a good way to keep them both looking strong in a champion vs champion match where one guy definitely ain't losing. This is a really, really good TV match, and a fine example of what Ole is capable of. I'm gonna have to go back through the 4 Horsemen set just to find more Ole singles matches.
