  1. NXT spent 2+ years building up their women's division to the point where two people who were no-names when it first started became not just the biggest stars of the division, but of the entire promotion. Even if the Iron Man match disappointed, the company would still be pushing it as an important moment. Compare that to Sasha vs. Becky on Main Event a couple of weeks ago. While Sasha gets "We want Sasha" chants and fans holding up 'Sasha Section' signs, she gets very little if any heat during her actual matches. It's really bizarre when you look at it, it like smart fans want to look cool chanting for her but honestly don't care when she's in ring. If Bayley and her had the Brooklyn match in front of that crowd and earned that kind of reaction then that would be one hell of an accomplishment.
  2. Thread for Sasha Banks vs. Becky Lynch from Main Event . Since Bruce Tharpe posts here, I just wanted to pass along congratulations to NWA Women's Champion Santana Garrett for winning the Wonder of Stardom Title. I just started watching her in the last couple of weeks and have been really impressed. Santana can do a little bit of everything and does it all really well, just an incredibly polished wrestler.
  3. Really well put together TV match. The opening sequence were nice because they were more about each of them just barely escaping the others stuff rather than showing how even they are. They arm work in the body of the match does seem rehashed from the match in May but I still thought that they did a good job of making it give the match context, especially Becky with selling, which is something that I felt was kind of missing from the last match. The finish really tops off the match as Sasha shows that while they both know each other really well she just has one more trick up her sleeve to allow her to get the win. ****
  4. They are putting them together as a pair like Emma and Dana Brooke, she is still going to work matches. They have already worked together on house shows a few times. Speaking of NXT house shows, they also started putting Sylvester Lefort (Rusev's first NXT manager) with Billie Kay. Mayumi Ozaki has been using a guy, Police, as one of her seconds for over a decade now. He's the same size as a lot of joshi workers, plus he's a great stooging heel so he works in the role. Maybe if they used someone whose Brad Maddox size they might be able to create a similar character if they wanted.
  5. Thread for Orange Happy vs. Best Friends for the International Ribbon Tag Titles.
  6. Both Hojo vs Satomura matches are on this page. The videos are private though so you might need a Dailymotion account for them to play. As for Io vs. Koguma, and Stardom shows in general, this channel on youku is the only place I can find them online since I avoid torrent sites. The site is garbage though as I only seem to be able to get it to kinda work is on Saturday for whatever reason. So I'd only recommend it if your like me and desperate to see this stuff right away. There's another guy who post private videos on Dailymotion and make them available through his Facebook group but I'm not on Facebook so that isn't an option for me.
  7. http://youtu.be/s8BSJZBz9E4 This match is structured in a pretty traditional joshi way but rather than the highspots and double teams that you would find in a 80/90's AJW match, the offense is mainly strikes and suplexes. Nakajima is just a beast on offense drilling her both opponents with strikes and dumping them with suplexes. Fujimoto was pretty good here too, as she is starting to transition from being company ace to grumpy, but still cute, veteran. Haruyama has slowed down from her prime because of a weight gain and two bad knees, but she is still great at selling and brings some nasty strikes to match Nakajima. Kizuki is being built up as the new ace for the company but she was the least of the four in this match. Her offense isn't up to level of everyone else, plus her selling is inconsistent. Kizuki had just come back from a knee injury and Fujimoto started working over it in the middle of the match only for Aoi to ignore it as soon as she went back on offense. The finishing run was pretty good though as it focused on Kizuki and Fujimoto, with the both of them going through a pretty furious exchange of finishers. ***3/4
  8. The only way they are ever going to really get the women over is for them to have their own promotion/brand, especially with the amount of women they have under contract now. If they wanted to cut Raw down to 2 hours just give the first hour to the women.
  9. Thread for Io Shirai vs. Dark Angel for the Wonder of Stardom Title, which might be Sarah Stock's last match. Thread for Thunder Rocks vs. Hiro~chan/San~chan
  10. A shockingly good makeshift main event as Kairi Hojo had to sit out this show due to a concussion, which forced them to redo the card with this as the main event. This is the first time I've seen Santana Garrett, as she's another woman who has been all over the indys but I've never actually watched. She looked really good here, breaking out some nice offense while keeping up with the pace of the natives and also had some nice chemistry with Hiroyo. Thunder Rocks keep their run of awesome finishes going here. They seem to know how to get their matches to finish at the right time and not deteriorate into 2.9 fests. ***3/4
  11. Well, if this is the last match of Sarah Stock's career, then this is a pretty good way to go out. Starts out with a really fast exchange sequence with both women all over the place but Dark Angel ends up taking over after yanking Io off the top turn buckle then powerbombing her on the apron. She follows that up with a bunch of cool submission that focus on Io's back with Shirai putting it over with some really good selling. The finish is a nice change as they focus on escaping/countering each other's finishers rather than going the usual near fall route. ****1/4
  12. The reaction to Rhonda in the last 24 hours is more fueled by how she lost rather than how she acts. She was a dominate, undefeated champion who didn't just lose to a huge underdog, she was completely outclassed and embarrassed. It would be totally different if Rousey had lost a close 5 round fight. The fact that this messiah level character was made to look like an ignoramus with such a basic, simple to execute strategy by a fighter who hadn't come close to looking impressive makes it natural for people to start hating on her because she instantly looks like a fraud.

As someone who isn't in the loop around here, discussions can get confusing when posters start using real names. You lose track of who is talking to who and it can be hard to keep up with what points are trying to be made.
  14. Thread for Io Shirai vs. Mia Yim for the Wonder of Stardom Title from the first Stardom show in the U.S.
  15. This is a super fun main event from Stardom's first of two shows that they ran in California. Even though she been all over the indys, this is the first time I've seen Mia Yim work. She was good, nothing notable just an overall solid performance. Io is just great here, she seems to have found the right mix of flashy moves and using her own charisma to be a consistently entertaining wrestler. Really good back and forth finish with the some nice near falls for both women. Well worth seeking out. ***3/4
  16. They probably have no real plan at this point and just publicly floating ideas to see what the reactions are.
  17. Both Paige and Charlotte had strong, ready made, face characters which were thrown out as soon as they got to the main roster. It's so dumb that they dropped Paige's character yet kept Emma's, where if they did the opposite both would have had a better chance of succeeding. With Becky, it's not that she doesn't have the ability to be a good promo (she was a fun heel in Shimmer,) it's the fact that the only real character that she's had to work with is being Sasha's lackey in NXT. They've given her nothing to work with since they turned her and I'd rather she her work on something in NXT then on the main roster. In all honesty, if she didn't have that match with Sasha back in May would she even be on the main roster?
  18. Daniel Murphy = Zach Ryder
  19. The correct answer is Asuka. Given Becky Lynch's struggles with promos I wonder if she would benefit from working a program with Bayley in NXT. She would be a nice name to have on the Takeover show in the UK. It would give her a chance to work on her promo skills with the coaches at the performance center and give her some TV time in a more friendly environment. Plus, she could potentially have a strong match that would give her some Sasha-like buzz.
  20. She must have skipped those Dusty/Regal promo classes.
  21. Finishing off the current top 5: Thread for Sasha vs. Bayley title switch. Thread for Arisa Nakajima vs. Hikaru Shida.
  22. This match gets a lot of mileage out of the face/heel dynamic. Pretty much everything that goes on in this match feeds off of it and the characters that these two have created. Sasha playing the arrogant heel champ who takes pleasure in picking apart and embarrassing her opponent, while Bayley is someone who may have finally figured out who she is and the confidence that comes with that. As for the actual work in the match, Sasha performance is masterful. All of the little details that she brings add depth to what could have been an overly simple story. Bayley's strong responses to Sasha's insults bring energy to the match. If Sasha vs. Becky showed what the women could do from a work perspective, then this showed that they could not just bring that again but have a story too. ****1/2
  23. That Sasha Banks girl is pretty good. Wouldn't mind seeing more of her.
  24. They've been stuck on Smackdown/Main Event for the last month. She also might be frustrated over Athena signing, doubt they would keep two black women with a similar skill set on the roster for long.
  25. Hikaru Shida is someone who gets a lot of hype in joshi circles but I've never really been sold on her. She has a similar problem to Nikki Bella in that she does a lot of things well but just can't seem to consistently put it all together. She does manage to do that here though, and it's the best performance of her career. Her offense is focused on Nakajima's back, starting out with Boston Crabs and Camel Clutches that lead to her breaking out some Rodrick Strong style backbreakers, topping off with a nasty spot of her putting Arisa on her shoulders then dropping her back first on the top turnbuckle. Nakajima complements this with some absolutely fantastic selling. Once Shida starts working on her back, Arisa sells it in some fashion for the rest of the match. While she does hit some suplexes, she has to do in a snap style as anytime she tries to bridge her back gives out. I'm already pretty high on Nakajima, and hopefully this is the start of Shida being more of a complete worker. ****1/2
