To be fair, she hasn't worked in 5 years.

LOL at Lita having Fabulous Moolah written on her arm and #TimesUp on her gear.

    Royal Rumble 2018

So glad to see Rey back. I'd love to see him back for another run, if his body holds up. Crowd is understandably burned out after the that great rumble.

Man, Dolph gone for 6 weeks, returns at #30 and comes out to a mild reaction at best.

    Royal Rumble 2018

New Day on fire tonight - that gear is great looking and E & Xavier throwing pancakes at Jinder was pretty damn funny.

    Royal Rumble 2018

Who knows, but JBL screaming at her was not helping.
  8. Cowardly editing out a response. No good can come of my continuing this discussion.
  9. Dear Lord, this was fun, even better than the March Cibernetico, probably because the battle royale portion was either not shown or didn't happen. My favorite parts were: The El Dandy-Black Warrior matchups, especially their first one, with the ultra-quick, smooth matwork. Dr. Wagner Jr. being amazing, my favorite being when Santo had Negro Casas in a tapiata pin attempt, only to have Wagner drag Casas by the hair to the floor and beat him down Negro Casas and Santo getting DQ'd seemingly for hating each other too much I don't keep track, or even rate matches all that much, but this is my MOTY for 97 so far.
  10. Get off my ass and go to a lucha show around D/FW. Finish the yearbooks. Spend less time on Twitter.
  11. Because Twitter is pretty much evil and does nothing but amplify and promote the worst aspects of humanity. It's less a problem with Twitter specifically and more the internet in general. Even here, where Loss and the other mods keep things relatively civil there's people who drop some vile shit that they would never, ever say to the person face-to-face. A lot of my suburban married friends use this app called "Nextdoor" that's essentially a hyper-local Facebook and you see the same type of drama there. The nature of the internet has the tendency to de-personalize others and reduce them to just some pixels on a phone or laptop screen. I think Twitter may be the worst because it's such an open and the character limit almost incentivizes insults. Social media can be great, we've all met and interacted with folks we never would have otherwise but the downside, I think, can be far worse.
  12. I don't think he has the money for that, unless he finds some partners and/or leverages himself heavily
  13. Well I was wrong about the three-way, as that was actually pretty good. The crowd was definitely into it and it didn't overstay its welcome. And the finish was clever.
  14. We say that every other show and it usually turns out good. The only thing that looks outright bad is the three-way, and Nattie-Charlotte will probably be boring, but the rest looks promising.
  15. It's pretty easy to impose a disciplinary policy when your employees are "independent contractors" and don't have a union, much less a collective bargaining agreement. Goodell can issue out any punishment he wants and the CBA essentially allows it. They also have a policy after the Ray Rice situation and they still don't follow it. I wasn't aware he could issue an immediate, indefinite suspension upon a player being arrested. I'm not defending any particular action the NFL or WWE have taken, but it is apples and oranges.

  17. It's striking how much nWo-era Nick Patrick looks like Danny McBride as Kenny Powers. McBride grew up in Georgia and North Carolina and is roughly the same age as many of us (41), I wonder if he's a fan?
  18. Yes, overall the production felt careless - the overhead lights in each corner are visible and shining into every ringside camera shot. Also, the logo in the center of the ring was chipping and fading away, which seems like some foreshadowing.
  19. Loved the Nietzsche reference from Sid here. Makes me imagine an alternate reality where instead of pro wrestling and softball Sid is a philosophy professor at the University of Memphis, giving his lectures with this same cadence and delivery. And man Shawn is stoned and/or drunk at that nightclub. Don't know how he managed to stay upright much less give a coherent promo.
  20. The first "trailer" for the HBO/Bill Simmons Andre the Giant documentary is out. (I don't know how to embed YouTube videos, sorry.) It's basically nothing, not even a teaser really. Given it's a Simmons production, I'm expecting mostly drinking stories.
  21. I saw someone on twitter with a theory that is more non-Lucha voters tossing a token Lucha guy they recognize on their ballot. Dave probably should tighten up the cross-category rules if that's the case.
  22. Wrong thread for it, but Jim Cornette was the co-host for the "Top 10" in this episode and he's always a great listen. Like with Dave, he doesn't have to do his gimmick and cut promos on modern wrestling and Donald Trump.
  23. Not sure how many PWOers are regular 605 podcast listeners, but the latest episode has a "roundtable" with Brian, Kurt Brown, Jeff Bowdren, and Dave talking about their Japan trips. It's Dave at his best - the obsessed wrestling fan, with none of the Twitter or six star bullshit that frustrates many of us.
