Would it be too soon to induct Jon Huber? I mean, after his death, we got a lot of tweets from WWE guys showing how loved in the locker room he was, and for a time, the Wyatt family were pretty big. OTOH, I dont know if he really had a HOF-level career (yeah, I know about other guys like Koko or Hillbilly, but they were arguably more over than Huber). On a different note, I can see the Warrior award (if they give it out this year) being a "virtual" award for all the front-line workers, a safe induction and some good PR for the company.

Kind of a timeline goof as the LJN toys didnt come out until 1985 (and they didnt look like the one we saw there, the LJNs were solid rubber). I wonder if they'll bring up when Johnson and Tony Atlas won the wwf tag titles, that was a pretty big moment (and I wonder who they'll get to play Atlas).

While that could work, the problem is that you'd have to go with a "no fans" method (much like the current state of wrestling shows) to avoid spoilers coming out.

^ Though to be fair, Disney had success with the Mandalorian and (especially) Wandavision being in the once-a-week format, especially since it keeps people guessing on what happens next. OTOH, those are established IPs, it's unknown if the same format would work with something brand new.

The only real thing that defines current pop culture is superhero films/shows, but those are more built by the personalities of the heroes, so you cant even really replicate that.

That's why I think a "random match" option for WWE network would be a good idea. Now granted, being completely random, you may happen upon a notroriously bad match, but there's also the chance you could happen upon a particularly good match. The network has literally thousands of hours of content, so adding this may help people who feel overwhelmed by all the content (of course, there's no chance of this happening with the Network folding into Peacock).

Currently reading Foley's fourth, Countdown to Lockdown. The whole format of jumping back and forth in the timeline (The main narrative is the build to Foley/Sting at Lockdown, but in between it shifts into other stuff, mostly stuff about Foley's final days in the WWE) is weird, but it still works. I wouldnt say it's as good as his first two, but I do prefer it to Hardcore Diaries. On a side note, are there any other autobiographies out there from former TNA guys (or at least ones from people who worked in TNA like Foley)?

As for JR being too obsessed with wrestlers's sports pasts, I was watching Clash of the Champions 20 recently. Jesse claimed that Pillman turned heel on Brad Armstrong because "he played football under Barry Switzler, that's what Switzler teaches you". I have no idea who Jesse was talking about, even now.

Since we're on this subject of commentary, why did Paul Heyman stop doing commentary? I mean, I know the kayfabe reason, but it's odd that he never returned to the role (of course, doing it now would be harder due to him being with reigns, unless they want to do some heenan-style color man/manager role). He was brilliant in both WCW and especially in the WWF.

In hindsight, it's good that Jesse left WWF when he did, since by 1991, the more absurd heels like Berzerker, Repo Man, IRS, Mountie, etc. started coming in, and I cant really see Jesse being able to put them over the way Heenan, who focused more on comedy, could (not to mention that Jesse likely wouldnt care for the Iraqi sympathizer gimmick of Slaughter).

Can we add streaming sites to this? I'm not talking wrestling-exclusive ones like WWE Network or New Japan World. Tubi has a ton of wrestling titles for example (I havent checked out any of these BTW, just going with what they had via a search): Wrestlings Bloodiest Wars Wrestling's Greatest Villains: The Golden Era Urban Wrestling Federation (3 seperate titles) Classic Wrestling: Lone Star Shootout, Brawling Beauties (GLOW compilation), Blood, Sweat, and Bruises Combat Zone Wrestling (looks to be a bunch of "best of" compilations) Extreme Legends (looks to be stuff owned by the Savoldis with the "early years" of guys like Austin, Jarrett, and Foley, though one compilation is devoted to Ric Flair, so I'm not sure). They also have Grunt: The Wrestling Movie, 350 Days, My Breakfast with Blassie, and the Resurrection of Jake the Snake (though the last one is buried in the documentary section).

While I do agree they made a good duo, the problem was that they never got the chance to commentate over any major angles or title changes. While I understand why (by 89-90, the WWF had pretty much conditioned their fans to have major angles/ title changes only happen on PPV, or the occasional SNME or Superstars, where Mooney and Hayes didnt commentate), I would have liked to see how they would have put over something that actually mattered.

I thought Heenan put over Goldberg well in WCW, and I dont even like Goldberg. He seemed to have more enthusiasm for him than Schiavone OR Tenay, and his joy when Goldberg won the title was a great moment. It's a shame Heenan had voice and health issues starting in the early 2000s, if he had been able to be there to do commentary for Goldberg's first WWE run, it may have helped him.

I wonder if they'll eventually cover his early wrestling career. They could probably have Austin play himself (he still pretty much looks like he did back in the day).

Bo Dallas still being employed by the WWE is a shock to me, though considering who he's related to, maybe not.
