I wonder how Cody Rhodes feels about demanding his release right before what could be a potential opportunity for advancement came up. Ditto Ryback. And I similarly wonder what the fuck WWE were thinking releasing Sandow, a guy who was clearly popular (no thanks to them) right when they could use a guy just like him to fill a spot on the card. Weird. You said it right there. He was popular, but not thanks to them. Can't have that happening.

It's the old when you're pregnant, you see pregnant women everywhere and hren you got a new red car, suddenly red cars everywhere. The human brain is so easily constructed sometimes.

Gymnastics in pro wrestling/the Ricochet-Ospreay/Vader drama
Gutenberger replied to GOTNW's topic in Pro Wrestling
I watched the match last night and have made a couple of observations. First of all, man I have changed as a pro wrestling fan. 5 years ago this probably would've been the best thing ever for me and I wouldn't have stopped talking about it for days. Now I watched it and was pretty much glad it was over. This was a pure showcase match, and fot that it probably is pretty good. Fantastic even, maybe. But only as that. There was ne real flow in this match, the heat segment was short and, at least to me, barely recognizable as such. The selling, or lack thereof, was awful. Sure I admire the athleticism but still... It all seemed set up. Like nothing happened organically, just spot after spot after spot without any story. Best example was the bis slugging it out in the middle. I'm not a big fan of it in most cases, but can get into it if it fits to the match. When it happened in Zayn vs. Nakamura, and went on and on, it felt right and I popped and was on the edge of my seat. In this match? I was bored to hell by it, 'cause it didn't fit. And the more the match progressed, the more I hoped one of these covers would end it, because I grew tired of all the spots. Is this the downfall of pro wrestling? No. But ot me it isn't really a wrestling match per se, it's more a showcase of agility and athleticism, as I said. I think with a bit more groundwork and basics, this could have been really good, as a nmatch also. But like this, I watched it and am over it. -
My thought exactly! I'd welcome a complete overhaul of Smackdown. And with that I mean complete. New set, new appearance, hell I'd even like to have a different name. But I'm afraid that's not gonna happen because Smackdown is a brand, and even if it's one with negative connotations, it's still regocnizable. And after all, we all know how much WWE loves change. So no real hope there imo, although I think it's what would be best for business.

Wow, I really didn't like this RAW. Nothing clicked. Even the Styles-Cena segment, which would have had me popping loud and going nuts normally, just barely captured my attention fully, which is really sad because it's such a big moment... And my god I HATE that stupid catchphrase of Reigns, "Good guy bad guy bla bla bla". While seeing it yesterday I even screamed at my tv to shut up, which is something I normally don't do, naturally.

Netflix creating a comedy series based on G.L.O.W.
Gutenberger replied to goc's topic in Pro Wrestling
I'm not familiar with G.L.O.W., and that means not at all. But I'm definitely gonna watch this. Not only becaus it's wrestling and I'm gonna watch it anyway, but also to see how the handle the subject. I hop this is a good sign for things to come for wrestling and the general acceptance/sight on it. -

Introduction to the Board as a wrestling fan
Gutenberger replied to soup23's topic in Forums Feedback
I only happened to stumble upon this now, which is why it might be a little late but hey, who cares? My name is Michael, I'm 29 years old and from Essen, Germany. I've been a wrestling fan in some shape or form pretty much as long as I remember. Since 1998 I'm fulltime invested, even though it was, at times, hard to follow the current WWF/E product without internet and only beeing able to read about the ongoings. Since I haven't had internet at my home for the better part of three years, I discovered PTBN and begang reading pretty much everything there, followed by starting to listen to podcasts, which is something I've never done before. Through this I ended up here and, after a few months of waiting, am now an relatively active member. So, one might say that not being able to WATCH pro wrestling has increased my passion about it. While I am mostly a WWE guy, I always try to be open minded and to discover new stuff, if time allows it. I'm pretty sure this is the perfect place for this. Since english isn't my native language, I hope you'll excuse my mistakes, and I'm looking forward to discussing and discovering new gems and some of the more obscure stuff! -
Which would only be logical, since there is that connection and he has his experiences in this area.

No real, substantial memories, but I remember beeing interested in wrestling pretty much forever. I had an Undertaker T-Shirt at the age of like 5 or 6. Then came a period where I wasn't watching at all, I don't know its because of lack of TV time or something else. Although watching many shows from the earl ti Mid-90's WWF, oftentimes I think I remember a lot of what's happening. Though it could be that I read about it, because I had LOTS of WWF magazines. The first time I actively remember watching something was Bash at the Beach 1998, which aired for whatever reasons on free TV, and the following Raw. And I was SO hooked from that moment on, I never stopped watching or reading or discussing about pro wrestling again.

They're gonna milk that one like a well-fed cow. And rightfully so, with all the backstory.

I haven't seen that match, but judging from that GIF it seems like one where I could sit with a couple of friends and, beeing distracted from talking while watching a show, become more and more attentive because of the spots and this way getting more into the show and what's to follow. If however this would be for some price, say a title match, I'd most likely cringe at first and havong more of a hard time to get into the match. -
I'd had a feeling there was gonna be a match between Aries and Nakamura when that tag match the week before happened and Nakamura wouldn't tag in Aries at the end. I'm definitely intrigued.

Most ridiculous pro wrestling conspiracy theories

When the first Split occured, I was stil a pretty young and easy to influence man and only watched Raw, because it had the bigger stars and "more important" storylines, and was presented that way, clearly. I only started watching Smackdown way into the Split. This time around I'd have the benefit of having a little more, I'd say, defined fandom. So I'm trying to be neutral and just see the things that are about to come. IF the split occurs, that is, which isn't a given. I'll just be glad to, hopefully, see Smackdown moved up in value. I think a big part of nothing really important happening there is/was the tped episode format and spoilers beeing everywhere. With that now finally gone, I can see that changing.

Did anyone else find that Flair Family breakup sment to be really weird? It felt partly forced and partly like Charlotte was really emotionally invested and dealing with issues. Also Ric's nose in the ring looked like he was f'ing drunk. Just really, really weird.

I popped hard for that chair spot, but gotta admit that the camera took me out of it for a moment, too. Otherwise a really good show, except the cage match mostly, but I don't know, it never really succeeded in capturing me. Maybe it was me, but although I wanted to ike it and DO like it, it just didn't click.

Least Favorite Wrestling Move/Strike in Pro Wrestling
Gutenberger replied to TheU_2001's topic in Pro Wrestling
Although I'm much higher on Cena than I was two years ago, I still don't exactly like his offense. Too much of it is weak looking, like the STF or AA, or deosn't get executed well, like that springboard stunner. -
Puerto Rico isn't a foreign country. Sorry, my bad.

You think so? I thought it wasn's that great. Good, yeah, but nothing spectacular. Could Bayley losing be a sign of her getting calles up soon? I mean, you'd think they wouldn't have her lose before the inevitable Asuka rematch.
-
I gotta admit I haven't listened to one of the GEW podcasts and still prefer a reasonable length due to time constraints.
-
I guess I'd take post 1996. I haven't seen that much Pre, so that might change, but just the possibility of watching everything that's still to come gives the advantage.

I just watched the season finale of TEACSTTROA and must admit I liked it a lot more than I should have. All the randomness, the obscure and not so obscure references and the, sometimes, totally awesome guest appearances... Damn, I'm hoping for a second season.

The Shining Star gimmick, to me, is just another prime exmaple of the milking of the xenophobic cow. They don't know what to do with them, just let them be proud of their country and, just because t's not America, people eventually will start to hate them. I think they're doing a fine job of rebuilding Rusev into a monster again. And lastly, I'm asking myself if there's something big planned for Raw 1200 next weekand they don#t want to overshadow Cena's return with it. I think it would have been the ideal return scenrio.

Would you want something like Pardon the Interruption on ESPN? Like the topics limited down to so many minutes as well? Well, if you'd like to look at it that way, The Dangerous Alliance is 3 1/2 times that. 3x half an hour and the mailbag.
