  1. Wade Keller fired Bruce Mitchell today and issued an apology to the Huber family: https://www.pwtorch.com/site/2020/12/29/editors-note-concerning-a-published-column-regarding-the-death-of-jon-huber/
  2. I'm not excessively familiar with the name or work of Ares but I do remember that he seemed to be a big part of wXw in the early 2000s as well as making some CHIKARA appearances back in the day and Chris Hero being a world class traveled veteran, it's no surprise that these two crossed paths at length during Hero's indy glory days. This is the thread to talk everything Ares vs Chris Hero.
  3. Wait a minute....did Joe Aiello not work for GWF back in the day? Now that I see this name, it seems familiar and I think he might've worked for them.
  4. Tony Khan just confirmed that this week's show is a tribute show for Brodie Lee; New Year's Smash Night 1 is pushed back to January 6th.
  5. I don't even know who that is, either the timeframe of this pic.
  6. I actually watched MOHAWK around Halloween time and I was blown away by Brodie's performance in it. He has very much a secondary role in the movie (although important in the plot and the movie in general) but he definitely was the shining star of that movie, in my opinion. In fact, I look at the picture Dark Sky Films used as a screenshot and that's right about the part of the movie where he really was astonishingly good. I can't highly recommend it enough. As for the sports thing, the Toronto Maple Leafs (his favorite hockey team) have already acknowledged his passing and sent their condolences to his family. Doug Gilmour also spoke highly of him as they have met a couple of times.
  7. As eerie as it sounds, maybe that's it. The more I think about it, the more it brings me back to that last Ultimate Warrior promo the night after Wrestlemania when he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. Listening to that promo made me feel like he knew what was coming - maybe not as fast as the next day but still - and perhaps Brodie realized that too so he did all he could to make everyone around him happy....as if he wasn't already making people around him feel that way. That speaks even more volumes about how kind and generous he truly was.
  8. He got called out on it and righfully so.
  9. The petition is there if you wanna sign it! https://www.change.org/p/aew-fans-to-have-every-episode-of-dynamite-start-with-it-s-wednesday-you-know-what-that-means?recruiter=648598931&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=psf_combo_share_abi&utm_term=psf_combo_share_abi&recruited_by_id=ccd42190-bc62-11e6-8e3f-33ddcca32790
  10. There's been a movement online to have AEW use his famous "It's Wednesday. You know what that means." tweets as a tagline to promote Dynamite every week (a bit à la SNL with their "Live from New York" thing) and I think this would be a wonderful way to pay tribute to him. So far, the idea has been received very positively so I'm curious if AEW will follow suit.
  11. Been a couple of hours since I've learned of the news of Brodie Lee's passing and it still doesn't register. I don't think I've been this shocked since the passing of Eddie Guerrero in 2005. It was nice tonight to see wrestlers, promotions and fans coming along together to show our respect and appreciation to who Jon Huber was. For us fans, it was about how good of a performer he was (probably one of the most underrated of his generation) and for wrestlers & promotions, it was how good of a man he was, for his family but also his fellow colleagues and friends. It's definitely gonna be a tough week for everyone, especially on Wednesday night for Dynamite but I bet everyone will work their ass off to pay their respects to Brodie Lee. Not only in AEW but also in WWE for RAW and Smackdown.
  12. Technically, if we look back at early Taker, he literally was an unkillable monster that you had to take drastic measures to beat. Yet, Taker has been universally praised, especially in that part of his WWE career. I can accept the notion that the in-ring skills of Bray will never match Taker's in terms of selling and everything but how was it acceptable for Taker to no-sell back in the day and not for The Fiend?
  13. Merry Christmas to you, all. Right now under lockdown so this massively sucks to not see family this year but thank God, I still got wrestling to entertain me and cheer me up. I don't always agree with everyone's opinions but you're all the coolest fans I could find on any board.
  14. I would be surprised if we don't see a Good Brothers appearance on next week's show; either to help Kenny Omega vs Fenix or to confront the Young Bucks.
  15. Glad to not be the only one seeing that Top Flight has the better upside of those 3 teams. They had a pretty solid outing vs Jericho & MJF.
  16. To answer one of your side questions: the ring announcer is Mike Rome, not Mike Rone. So I doubt there's any connection with that DVDVR user you were referring to. As for the review itself...I knew my instinct didn't fail me lol
  17. I can pretty much guess without listening to a second of it that he's gone through an epic rant about how it's killing the business.
  18. The Firefly Inferno match was apparently taped in the afternoon because of all the editing & multiple takes that they had to shoot in several spots. So, it's very likely that as you said, they recycled footage from other segments and inserted it there. I *think* I read on Twitter while I was following the PPV live on Twitter on Sunday night that someone had spotted Goldberg in the Thunderdome so that could be a very good indication that they did use old footage to be "the crowd" for the main event.
  19. It's not like WWE doesn't have a history of putting filler shows during the Holidays anyway. Besides, we've already noticed that WWE is going back to dusting off Legends & Hall of Famers again for a themed RAW to try popping a rating again. Vince has always had 3 safety blankets when he's on panic mode in the past couple of years: Roman Reigns, Charlotte Flair and the Legends. One is definitely justified at the moment as he's the most talked about on Smackdown brand. For the 2 others, that's questionable.
  20. Can only imagine how tough it has been for him. My grandmother has been in a nursing home since August and I haven't seen her in a year other than the occasional Facetime call. Her health is slowly starting to decline and I wish I could see her more often so I definitely empathize with Dave on his loss here.
  21. Their rematch on Smackdown on Christmas Night should be fun; Steel Cage this time.
  22. You're more than likely rejoicing too hastily.
  23. I guess we might have a hint of what is next for Bray Wyatt in the evolution of his character...or at least, the evolution of the Fiend.
