Two men very important for the history of WWWF at the time. If Bruno proved to be the biggest draw the promotion has ever had until Hulk Hogan came along, Ivan was the one who put an end to his historic 8-year reign as WWWF Champion, marking probably the first shocking moment of the McMahon-based promotion's history. This is the thread to talk everything Bruno Sammartino vs Ivan Koloff.

To be fair, no one really expected Kane to be a babyface until they turned him. Don't know how that'll go with Bray/The Fiend but I'm curious to see how they'll try to do that.

Um...If I remember correctly, Mox actually won his two last title defenses WITHOUT using the Paradigm Shift/Death Rider (vs Hager & vs Brodie Lee) so I don't see what the big deal is out of this. Mox clearly was more bothered by MJF bringing up Renee during the promo than actually not having to use his finisher in the match at All Out.

This tournament will be insanely good.
-
Wow, you're correct. And it's not that long ago either.
-
I preferred the early Darks that had only 3 or 4 matches top in the show. I'm all for getting indy talent exposure, even in squashes but this is ridiculous at this point. If I want to watch 2 hours of squashes, I'll watch old NWA World Championship Wrestling episodes instead.

Still, I don't recall the last time Orton lost 2 PPV matches in a row.

About Tully, I think they set it up well 2 weeks ago during the Tag Team Appreciation Segment in which Tully berated Arn & the Rock N' Roll Express, citing Arn's involvement in the Cody vs Spears match at All Out last year and once FTR sucker punched Ricky Morton, I kinda saw they were going there (in addition to Tully scouting FTR a few weeks back from the lower bowl). I'm just waiting now to see if the Nightmare Family will eventually implode when Cody returns to TV to have him join Tully for that rumored modern Horsemen stable.

Something about CFO$'s previous publishing thing where half of the money they were getting was going straight to the publisher, if I read correctly. Now, they're officially broken up so this might also be playing a factor.
-
Totally agreed. RAGE is the promotion that has the closest feel to what WWF/WCW looked like and yet, it has its own distinct identity but filled with solid star power.
-
I could definitely see those impromptu matches with Vader getting so over for live events. You easily got something right there.
-
Well, at least, that's good news for AEW. That would've been the worst thing that could've happened for them to have an anti-wrestling guy at the helm of the network.
-
Only a 1-time thing apparently. But that and Thunder Rosa working All Out next weekend, not looking good for the NWA.
-
OK, thanks, wasn't sure what he exactly said but now that you mentioned it, I think I heard him say that.
-
I'm not very familiar with Reverend Dan Wilson and the Devil's Rejects (although I heard about it) but I'll be damned if Necro Butcher just doesn't fit in this so marvelously.

I mean, the thing that made most think that Roman acted heelish wasn't the spears on both Braun & Bray but something he said to Braun outside the ring "You couldn't handle the responsibilities of being champ" or something like that (don't remember verbatim but that was something like that). That's not something I would've seen a Stone Cold say as a babyface, even as ruthless as he was.
-
At best, Bray's a tweener right now but we haven't seen enough of interactions justifying the notion that he'd be babyface. If we had more interactions between The Fiend and Alexa Bliss that could've lead us to that, maybe but given they pulled Alexa out of the show with Roman's return, we'll never know.

CAN-AM PRO TV TAPED AUGUST 10TH, AIRING ON AUGUST 29TH, IMA SPORTS ARENA, FLINT, MI - ATTENDANCE: 493 *Most of the card was untaped matches for the crowd specifically featuring Tommy Dreamer, Can-Am Tag Champs Mike Awesome & Mohammed Yone & The Triple Threat among others. During the TV show, the 3-Way Tag from Basebrawl (Jannetty/Aguayo vs Badd Company vs Hardy Boyz) was shown in its entirety -Before the exclusive match taped in Flint, Terry Funk comes out for the match and talks about how he has done about everything that you can think of in pro wrestling, and some of those, he hasn't done in a while. Funk says that the crowd probably doesn't know this but he took part in 2 Hair vs Hair matches in his life and won them both (against Gary Hart in 1966 and Shoji Nakamaki in 1994) and he feels like he wants to tempt the devil again. Funk says he's got an open contract for the supercard at the Colisée Pepsi in Quebec City on August 29th and he's challenging anyone to put their hair on the line against him. Funk says he doesn't know if he'd look good bald but he wants to add another accolade to his career. 10-Person Tag Team Match: Kamala, Elektra, Terry Funk, "Séduisant" Sylvain Grenier & "The Model" Rick Martel (w/Kimchee) beat Braith Chapman, Isaac Lukeson, Drummond Chambers, Jackie Scriven & Theo Hughes.

CAN-AM PRO LIVE August 9th, Colisée Jean-Béliveau, Longueuil, QC Attendance: 1870 -Kamala (w/Kimchee) beat Adam Flash in 12:39 -Badd Company beat "The Prospect" Donovan Morgan & Bam Bam Bigelow in 22:13 after Tanaka pinned Morgan after a Stun Gun. -"Séduisant" Sylvain Grenier (w/Rick "The Model" Martel) beat Marty Jannetty in 13:38. After the match, Grenier & Martel are attacked by Perro Aguayo & Ulf Hermann, as Ted Dibiase looks on. Ted Dibiase takes the house mic and introduces the Can-Am Pro faithfuls to his newest enterprise, Money International. Jannetty doesn't seem too thrilled about it but he looks to follow Dibiase's stable anyway... -Joey Styles comes in the ring to interview Can-Am Pro's newest acquisitions, Erik Watts and his valet, Simply Luscious Joey Styles: Erik Watts, it certainly is interesting to see you here in Can-Am Pro as a lot of questions have always been asked about your true potential in this business. A lot of people are saying that you only got your break because you were the son of "Cowboy" Bill Watts. Some say that you just couldn't live up to the pressure that walking in the shoes of your father. What are you saying to those people? Erik Watts: Well, first, thanking me for being here wouldn't have killed you, Joey Styles. Second of all, I couldn't care less what those people are saying. Those basement dwelling geeks have no idea what it is like to be growing up around the pro wrestling industry. So they can keep on drinking their Coca-Cola and their Doritos all they want. The fact is they'll never be me. I need very few people to believe in me. I don't need you. I don't need those idiots here or watching this tape, whenever they will do so. Hell, I don't even need my old man's approval. I - COULDN'T - CARE - LESS. I need only 2 people; myself and this lovely lady here, Simply Luscious. This right here is the most beautiful woman in the world. So Francine and Beulah can kiss her ass, for all we care. Joey Styles: Wow, you're confident considering -- Erik Watts: Considering what, Joey Styles? That I haven't accomplished anything in the business, is that what you were about to say? Well trust me when I say this, you're all gonna wish I never entered the business once I'm through with this promotion because I'm gonna make everyone's life a living hell around here. Just watch me! (Watts & Luscious abruptly end the interview and they head to the back) -Terry Funk beat Bob Backlund in 10:25 -Hardcore Holly beat Hayabusa in 17:08 -In the main event, "The Franchise" Shane Douglas beat Stan "The Lariat" Hansen in 8:18 after interference from Bam Bam Bigelow & Donovan Morgan.

Yeop and judging by her Twitter feed, she's pissed and I don't blame her.

Kendall Windham as a Stud Stable member with the Col. is just a right fit. More intrigued with CW Anderson in it as well but I think you can make it work! Huge win for Kojima against Dr. Death. I think he's gonna grab that tournament win!
-
Considering that she's been the focal point of the Braun/Fiend buildup for the past month, it certainly was a headscratcher that she wasn't involved in any way, shape or form in the main event. Did they decide to prioritize Roman coming back over her involvement? Very possible. Maybe they're planning something for Payback next weekend and they felt like Roman's return would've overshadowed anything Alexa would've done in the match anyway. But that would be par for the course from Bruce Prichard & Vince McMahon to just act like she hadn't been involved in the storyline in the first place, despite having a video package prominently featuring her minutes before the main event.

Shamrock vs Minoru should be epic. Great looking card!
-
Particularly interested into what you're doing with Kronik and Rikishi/Haku. Talk about a badass battle!

Under normal circumstances, even though the possibility of losing would be there, Sonya would still come off as a bigger star no matter what. But right now, her mental health is what matters.
