  1. I'm just happy Gargano vs. Ciampa is the rightful main event.
  2. What is Punishment Martinez supposed to be? Saw him at the ROH WrestleMania weekend show last year against Frankie Kazarian. Yikes, that was bad.
  3. Shayna pulling her own hair to keep the rear naked choke on was beautiful. It took too long for Ember to fade to it though.
  4. Ricochet got that massive pop.
  5. That Pat dude was embarrassingly bad.
  6. Takagi has a background in judo and MIKAMI has a background in Greco-Roman wrestling... Odd, they never implement any of those techniques into their matches. Yeah, a lot of the early DDT crew were backyarders and that trend will continue with them. According to the Japanese Wiki entry for student pro-wrestlers Hayabusa, Mr. Gannosuke and MEN'S Teioh also started out as backyarders... And I haven't followed DDT since around 2008, but apparently Takao Soma is the BIMA backyarder I was speaking of earlier...
  7. That makes it a must watch event.
  8. It's crazy the amount of backyarders who DDT has picked up and trained. Antonio Honda, HARASHIMA, KUDO, Danshoku Dieno, etc. In Japan they are known as student pro-wrestlers which is pretty much the equivalent to backyarders in the states. These guys setup rings and have shows in a variety of public locations. I know DDT books them or used to book them. They booked a CIMA backyard clone named BIMA once.
  9. Those aren't odd analogies, at all. Did you get a chance to see any of the Pitbull Gary Wolfe matches from the tour he did in Noah in 2001? He was mostly working under card matches, but I can't seem to find any video of any of them. I'm sure they were terrible, but they sound really compelling.
  10. I can't be the only one who's not a fan of this stuff... Not that it matters, but I believe the original invisible man match was at a micro indy show over 15 years ago. It was Danshoku Dieno vs. Invisible Mysterio: I ordered the entire FITE TV WWN $89.99 package and I still haven't watched anything from this weekend as I've been watching/re-watching a ton of old Noah matches. I'll probably catch TakeOver tonight and 'Mania tomorrow night and then next weekend I'll dive into the indy stuff from this weekend.
  11. I'd rank this a notch bellow the previous Misawa vs. Takayama singles match for the vacant title in the title tournament final, but this is still a great match.
  12. Yeah, this match is indeed great. Nice and slow build leading to the epic finishing stretch. Misawa getting busted up really add to this. Great match indeed.
  13. As stated previously by others, this is smart and simple compared to their other matches, plus you get a distinct finish which isn't the norm in Noah and it gives this match an identity of it's own. That Tiger Driver on the outside was pretty brutal as you can see Akiyama's bounce off the floor.
  14. Yeah, that's pretty odd view point, but yes, Shiga is awesome. Izu is also pretty great. Omori doesn't suck either and I couldn't stomach most of his matches back in the day, but re-watching them, he's not that bad and was involved in some pretty good matches. Also, 10 minute Takayama singles matches were the best.
  15. That Paul Heyman mentality where everything in life is a work... I'm pretty sure once this is all settled and maybe a year and half or two years from now the UFC will setup Khabib vs. Conor, but that still doesn't mean this was a work as some think.
  16. I'm re-watching a ton of old Noah from the early 2000's and Shiga is a guy I don't remember think much of back in the day, but he's putting on really solid performances in multi tag matches.
  17. He won't be stripped of the title until a title fight takes place tomorrow. If a fight doesn't take place, then it's up in the air if they will formerly stripe him of it or not. Edit: Just as I posted that, there's talk that Khabib vs. Al Iaquinta will be the title fight, so yes, Conor is getting stripped of the title.
  18. Which one? Rose? I know she was on the bus when the entire thing happened. She already weighed in and said she's game for tomorrow night.

  20. ?? I'm a big RIZIN fan. I'm going to try and keep this thread alive with all of the updated info.
  21. One dimensional grapplers still have a lot of success today even if fans find them boring. I used to find wrestlers who would just grind out fighters boring too and then I began doing BJJ and realized how hard it is to take someone down and hold them down without getting swept. That Saku vs. Royce 90 minute match is one of the greatest MMA fights of all-time. Saku using Royce's gi against him to fold him up is one of the most greatest moments in MMA history. I remember really liking the Saku vs. Kendo Kashin match from INOKI BOM-BA-YE 2000 because Saku employed elements of that Royce fight into that match, such as folding Kendo up, spinning him around on his back by the foot, the mounted double Mongolian chops, etc. Ronda's stand up is horrendous, but her strength, which is her judo, is amazing and she can beat a lot of the fighters on the UFC roster still. WMMA hasn't really evolved that much. Look at those horrendous Invicta FC cards with a ton of fighters with losing records and look at a lot of the WMMA fights and you'll see the lack of technique and skill in a lot of the fighters. I haven't been following K-1 in forever, but I've read people really putting over Takeru. They've also mentioned Takeru vs. Tenshin as a dream fight. I haven't seen much Takeru, but Tenshin has been amazing in his 7-8 RIZIN fights under both kickboxing and MMA rules.
  22. Ah yes, the typical "Ronda was never good" post 2 lose streak talk, because yeah, she was no good when she was steamrolling everyone else at 145 early on and then at 135... It's funny you mention this, because ironically the person she dropped the title to (Holly Holm) then went on to to drop it to a chick Ronda went 3-0 against (Miesha Tate)... And even then, Ronda could still beat a lot of the chicks at 135 with her grappling skills only. Also, Have you not see guys like Demian Maia before? Another one dimensional grappler who's even worked himself into title shots and don't even dare say his striking is even remotely decent, because it's some of the worse ever. Let's not even mention the other endless one dimensional grapplers who've had success in the sport... I'm not a Ronda fan by any chance, but to say she was no good or you neve rated her simply because she lost 2 fights in a row is quite shameful.
