  1. RINGS is credited as an MMA organization from 1995 onward, but there's been worked matches from that period and afterwards. I've seen a ton of shoot fights from RINGS, namely from Hendo, Big Nog, Fedor, Arona, etc., but I've never seen a Han shoot, so I'm curious. Edit: Just found some fights and his stand up looked really bad and takedown defense was average. His ground game seemed pretty good in one fight against some other European fighter, but Big Nog was riding for the majority of their fight and he almost got kneebar'd, but Big Nog is great on the ground, so it's nothing be ashamed of.
  2. https://twitter.com/beyondwrestling/status/978098212593721344 Beyond is done with David Starr. Wonder what happened there?
  3. Have you ever seen a non-worked grappling match? Watch something from ADCC, for example, and compare that to the realistic looking mat work you keep brining up from Han's matches and you'll see the huge difference. All the banana splits and contrived holds Han pulls of are almost impossible/very rare in grappling. And no, that's not a knock on Han, because I recognize his skill level, but it's just the reality of it. And as I have expressed before in other threads, a lot of questionable transitions are done in shoot style (guys transitioning from full mounts into his opponents guard? guys transitioning from side guard to half guard? poorly executed kimura's and americana's are a dime a dozen, etc.), however if you take that into account you will see it's not as realistic looking as you make it out to be and thus it drowns down the enjoyment of the style. I enjoy shoot style for what it is and try and ignore the glaring flaws in the grappling exchanges. I mean, do you really think Han could pull off a banana split in a real grappling exchange against another quality grappler? Obviously not. And again, that's not a knock on his ability, but it's just the reality of it. Heck, you don't even see high level skill grapplers pulling off banana splits against low level inexperienced grapplers and much less would you see a high level skill grappler pull it off as easily against another high quality grappler. Yes went to some SAW stuff bakc in the day and yes that was not worked and yes iv seen mma Fights End with a Split so it possible sambo was Dominate for the almost 15 year that mma wasa Thing or at in Japan were Grappling was more Common than in early UFCs hence why people with solid grappling base back in the style style days dominated for the most part all of MMA hell Hans own trainee in Fedor is call by many as the best Fighter of all time and another RINGs RUSSA Guy and volk han Trainee in Ilkuine gave Igor Vochancchn his first ever Legit Loss [ the other one at that time being a loss that when Igor put his chin in someone's eye in bs DQ ] and i know i spelt Igor;'s 2nd name worng i never been able to spell it i put dq igor loss ant the same level of oddness as the Loss Fedor had to TK you know the one the the cut over eye that was opened up by an accidetal elbow by TK back then elbow were banned in Pride i Think hence why i said an accidental elbow all that aside most wrestling commentators in the west would no know a split if thye saw one anyway especially in wwe because legitimate high-end mat work is dead cause wwe teach people how to work and not how to wrestlie with good technique and very few people that train ahe any technical skill ie stuff liek SAW Sambo Judo JuJutsu or any thing like that in that background that is another mind set i have tthe technique vs technical skill split Dragon ahs some of both based on the fact the did train t=with Coture he must have Aj has none of these coimg from WCW training Hurt him in that way also Dragon trained the coture did it not ? Can you name more than 3 fights with a high level grapplers ending in banana splits? I'm legit curious to see you pull this off as I'm a huge MMA and grappling fan and I've never seen this pulled off between high caliber fighters/grapplers. Please don't bother with small regional fighters or grapplers who've been training for months. I mean with guys who're legit top fighters or grapplers. I don't think I've ever seen Han in a straight up shoot. I'm not saying there isn't any, but I personally haven't seen any. Which fights of his were straight up shoots? I've seen a lot of his fights listed on the Sherdog Fight Finder and those are confirmed works -- i.e.; his matches against Maeda and Tamura and his final match against Funaki are confirmed works, yet they still have them listed on there even though they've been told multiple times those aren't shoot fights. And Fedor is not the greatest fighter of all-time, but that's another argument for another thread and one I won't bother getting into detail here. No, Danielson has never trained under Randy Couture. He trained under Robert Drysdale at Randy's Xtreme Couture gym in Las Vegas and under John Crouch at the MMA Lab in Arizona. He is/was a BJJ blue belt.
  4. Not that this really matters a whole lot, but you may want to check the settings for the other places on the board outside of this section. The Enable HTML (and Attachment Files) are available here, but not elsewhere. Here's a screenshot of a reply for the Bryan Danielon's in ring ability thread: As you can see Enable HTML isn't available. However, when I click to reply to this thread, Enable HTML is available:

Edit: Yes, this is a pointless argument given the thread is about the Danielson, Misawa, Kobashi, Kawada, etc. comparison. And can you please stop brining up this realism talk and stop comparing everyone to Volk Han specially when it has nothing to do with the topic?
  6. Another beautiful hate filled, lucha brawl. This lacked blood, but the intensity, chaos, crowd and Sangre Chicana pulling onto a fans leg and bringing him into the match made up for it. Not much else that hasn't been said previously. Great stuff.
  7. This was beautiful. Mask tearing, blood, hot crowd, some wild dives and brawling in a lucha de apuestas. Great match.
  8. This is an unpopular opinion, but I'm not buying this or don't like this as much as everyone else and I saw a some glaring flaws in this. Shamrock's flying knee attempt looked really bad. His early palm strikes looked relatively weak, however he increased the intensity in them once they began exchanging and he turnt on the heat and was really catching Sano which was great. His front kicks and takedowns looked bad also. There was also a lot of down time where they were catching a breath and not trying to work in anything even though they were in a favorable position. There was some quality stuff though, such as the rolling armbar attempt from Shamrock, his big belly to belly throw, Sano's deadlift German suplex, their palm strike exchanges and knees in the clinch were pretty neat. I also dug Sano's transition into the STF which I thought was pretty clever with the unexpected drop toe hold setup. With that said, I still think this was a good/very good match, but not an all-time great as everyone else.
  9. Not TV, but this was pretty awesome: https://twitter.com/wwe/status/977735691860938753 Thought this was pretty awesome. It reminded me of the first time Chris Hero and the CZW crewed stormed an ROH ring for the first time in the ROH v. CZW feud.
  10. How do we embbed Tweets and YouTube videos? Copy/pasting the URL like on DVDVR isn't working. Thanks!
  11. This was bonkers. And just add to the discussion, I'll say I think everyone is underselling the Bison Kimura and Grizzly Iwamoto exchanges. These two beat the junk out of each other. Those early punch exchanges were brutal -- I mean Devil Masami vs. Chigusa Nagayo levels of brutal. Those kendo stick shots between them were pretty brutal too -- maybe not Sandman caning Sabu in the jaw levels of brutal, but still they were pretty brutal. Great match.
  12. WarGames matches are my favs. and this is a perfect example as to why I love them. Just a bloody, intense, hated filled brawl with a hot wild crowd. So many awesome things going at a time -- Pillman and Windham, Sting and Flair, Windham and Flair bleeding buckets, Sid Gansobombing Pillman, etc. Put any semi-decent to great talent in a WarGames match and you can almost certainly produce a MOTY candidate. Just a beautiful match.
  13. Yeah, I didn't think this was that great. Punk kicked out of a Pepsi Plunge by Aries at 1 and no sold it pretty much, so now we know where Lio Rush got his ridiculous ladder powerbomb through a table pop up from partially. Also the finishing stretch was a tad bit ridiculous and the ref. botched the 3 count on the crucifix pin.
  14. FITE has a package for the all of the WWN events for $89.99. The ROH event, by itself, will be $24.99. FITE includes live streams and VOD in those prices.
  15. I thought the four way double elimination match to crown the inaugural champ between these guys and Psicosis was forgettable and this is even more so forgettable. It's a given this is a glorified spot fest so if you're not a fan of these, then don't bother and even if you're a fan of them, you can still skip this as it's nothing special.
  16. Re-watching this and I thought it doesn't hold up that well. It's a glorified X-Division showcase which means they'll try and cram in as many spots as possible in their given timeframe without focusing on anything else. Styles and Lynn particularly got more time to get all their stuff in, while cutting Psicosis and Ki's time short as they rushed and eliminated them quickly to build towards the extensive final two falls between Styles and Lynn. Those final two falls weren't particularly mind blowing and were just endlessly over hyped by Mike Tenay and Don West. I'll rarely complain about things such as commentary, but Don West is the worst. He called this the greatest show on earth one too many times. Sure I know he wanted to get this over as much, but the dude is way out of control here. Forgettable.
  17. Man, Takaiwa is such a boring dude to watch. The crowd seems extremely uninterested in him when he's not hitting huge slams and powerbombs. Him trying to heel it up is pretty poorly executed too. Maufuji, on the other hand, is someone I have no interest in watching when he's not teaming with KENTA. Here he comes across as a guy who takes a beating, but still wants to get all of his stuff in, so of course he does. So this is really rough to sit through. It's only 22 minutes long, but it feels like it's more than that.
  18. Sami Zayn's Wiki lists Savio Vega as one of his trainers. Does anyone know how, when or where this occurred? I did a Google search for it, but can't find any info on it. On an entirely different topic -- I just ready Yoshiaki Fujiwara is a former Muay Thai fighter. He also has some background in catch wrestling which is what his style is focused around. It's odd that he has a background in a striking art, yet he barely throws knees in the clinch, elbows in the clinch or leg kicks and relies mostly on his catch wrestling skills. He also has a background in judo.
  19. This match is fantastic. Some true quality grappling. Both guys looked really, really good. Zouev's strikes looked really bad, but he's smart enough to use them to cut the distance and clinch with Han and shooting for the takedown or pulling guard on Han. That arm-triangle choke, that clinch guard pull into an armbar and that counter to the banana split with a leglock and armbar combination in the finish were beautiful. Really good match.
  20. I thought/think shodate is a troll account, but he hasn't really done anything that steps over the line and makes me think/wish he'd get banned and I don't know why anyone would report him, honestly. That's kinda lame. And about this place -- I love it, honestly. I really dig the diverse opinions and being a fan who stopped following wrestling for about 8-9 years and just recently feel back into it, this board is a great resource. Stuff like the PWO2K and the endless lists of MOTY and must see matches, etc. have been great as I've been able to go back and watch some stuff and find new stuff I've never seen before. I would love if there was more activity on here (even though there already is quite a bit already).
  21. As long as this leads to Styles vs. Hogan, I'm down... But seriously, aside from the potential SDL GM role, I really have no interest in seeing Hogan back.
  22. I have horrible taste in pro-wrestling and do enjoy these intense indy Jr. style matches every so often, so I had a blast re-watching this today, however I wouldn't call this a 5 star classic or anything along those lines. Bate's rolling kick, Dunne's shocked face when Bate kicked out of the Orange Crush and Dunne countering Bate's huge over the top dive with an elbow were my favorite moments in this. Good fun.
  23. I guess he's talking about Bryan? Can't say I can blame Dave here as most of his reports are from Bryan himself, either in interviews from other places or as a source. ps: Loss, how the hell are we in 2018 and we can't embed tweets on this board?? Best thing about this tweet is the Meltzer is bigger in this industry than you reply.
  24. Imagne the heat KO and Sayn would get if WWE announced that due to the attack Bryan is back on the shelf and won't get cleared to return again...
  25. What a great segment.
