  1. I didn't know till just now that the Nassau show got 16,500 and the LA show 14,500. Do you think those 16,000 people were there mainly for Piper vs. Mr. T? Probably. They were there for WrestleMania The hot Piper/ Orndorff feud, the hot Andre/ Bundy feud, and the hot Muraco/ Steamboat feud. All feuds that had stories behind them. Oh, and the fact that WWF was the hottest ticket in town around then. The hot Piper/ Orndorff feud, and the hot Savage/ Tito feud with Jesse actually wrestling. All feuds that had stories behind them. Oh, and the fact that WWF was the hottest ticket in town around then. The hot Piper/ Orndorff feud and the hot Muraco/ Steamboat feud. All feuds that had stories behind them. Oh, and the fact that WWF was the hottest ticket in town around then. The hot Muraco/ Steamboat feud. A feud that had a story behind them. Oh, and the fact that WWF was the hottest ticket in town around then. And the fact that it was Australia. Yeah? So? Everyone drew against Hogan back then, especially Orndorff. None of that has anything to do with the fact that no one cared about Orndorff/ Muraco at Mania 2 because there was no build up or reason being shown that they were fighting. No one paid to see that match because no one had a reason to pay to see that match. People paid money to see Valiant vs Jones and his Army because they were invested in seeing it, because it was made to be important to the audience.
  2. Dude. People were invested in Valiant vs Jones and his Army. People paid money to see it. Orndorff/ Muraco was a match on Mania 2 that had no build up whatsoever on TV and didn't sell one ticket to that clusterfuck of a show. I remember when they announced the card for Mania 2. The only thing we thought about Muraco/ Orndorff was "Wow, that should be cool." And then it went and sucked. It didn't draw a dime. The only guys that drew on that show were Hogan and William Perry.
  3. And while I don't wear a Nascar hat and only briefly worked for a subcontractor once, Valiant vs Jones is my favorite feud/ program of all time. It was directly what made me start watching Crockett. It was important, people cared deeply about it, and it was great long, long, long term booking. No way in hell I believe you don't own a Rusty Wallace hat. Yeah, because there's that huge Deadhead/ NASCAR cross over.
  4. Anyone who knows me, knows that pretty much nothing in wrestling "upsets" me. But there have been some random things over the last 30 years that pop into my head now and again that I remember thinking, "Man, fuck this shit." and I was actual pissed off. That bit in WCW where Flair and Arn were paying off veteran scrub guys to throw matches to David Flair had one with Bobby Eaton is one of them.

  6. I loved The Steiners back then. They were the first NWA/ WCW team that came off as equals to the Road Warriors.
  7. Sounds like Billy Graham. Wait, Huh? Graham was a tremendous interview. (Back to Rey talk) And speaking of charisma, my little nephew who's only two has been watching wrestling with me his whole little life. He LOVES Rey. He has no idea what wrestling even is. He calls it "Bump", which is god damned adorable. But he will sit still through a Rey match and say "OH NO!" when Rey gets slammed, and he will point at the TV and say "Rey" when he wants me to put on a Rey match. I got him the Rey Bashing Buddy for his birthday, and it took him forever to pretend to fight it, I'd imagine because he loves Rey. So yeah, charisma transcends language AND age. It helps when there's cool fucking masks involved, too.
  8. Man, remember that Steiners/ Nastys match in WCW right before the Nastys went to the WWF ? It might have actually been the first match I ever watched where I actually thought, "Holy shit, these guys are being beat up for real for some reason. What the fuck?" I haven't seen it in forever, but I remember it being short and holy shit stiff.
  9. I gotta tell ya though, if you were 13 like me and my pals were at the time, when the Bulldogs first started appearing on Saturday Morning TV? Shit, man. They were fucking awesome. You don't think about or even notice shit like, "They're unprofessional and stiff for no reason" at that age. All we thought at the time was these guys were fast, did awesome moves, beat people up, and were in awesome shape. Now, that's not a defense. Looking back, you think "They didn't need to be so rough on job guys" and you realize how over rated they are. BUT, that initial feeling they gave you at the time was fucking cool. It was why we all marked out so much when they won the belts at Mania 2.
  10. I watched that live thanks to my cable company at the time showing WCW PPV's for free every now and then. I was also incredibly stoned that night. So the combination of a free PPV and being higher than a hippie in a helicopter leads to the fact that I LOVED the Chamber of Horrors match then, and I still love it now.
  11. I'm thinking that Ryback will be facing The Shield in some way at Mania. He's declared on TV that for now, his purpose is to take them down. I'm thinking he'll team with Orton and a mystery partner type deal. And Orton will turn when all is said and done.
  12. So, our webmaster at TNT-Radio ended up having the site go down where our shows were archived. I assume he's working on it, but just in case anyone was trying to check out either my shows or wanted to check out some of the legendary Good Will Wrestling shows, here's the links to the actual archives. 13. Bockwinkel is a guy I've totally turned around on. I first started watching him in the AWA circa 85. To my 15 year old self, he was fucking boring and old. It wasn't too long after I started watching that he turned face. My experience at the time was a face Bockwinkel feuding with Zybysko. I was at a PW USA show at the Meadowlands that had a Texas Death Match between them, and it was fucking boring as fuck. Then, they just gave him the belt after Hansen told Verne to go fuck himself. To a guy my age at the time, Bock was just the worst. Flash forward about 20 years, and I saw the Bock/ Lawler stuff for the first time and I was all, "Shit. He was kinda awesome." Add the AWA set and lots of other viewings of his shit with Heenan, and now Bockwinkel's one of my favorite guys.

  15. Everyone no selling Will's "16 year-olds" joke during the "logging more miles" bit is sad. Will's giant out of breath rant at 1 hour 55 mins is fucking hilarious. Breaking dishes while ranting out of breath.... Oh, and the big problem with the Flair/Morton feud was that no one thought Morton ever had a chance in hell of becoming World Champ . I remember loving the Horsemen beating Morton up, the promos ruled, the matches were great...but it felt like Flair was always gonna win the end, and he did. There was never any doubt.
  16. Ha, what 're the odds? Two Central States gags in one day.http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?show...p;#entry5528976
  17. I need to go back and watch more Rockers matches, cause I never really liked the Rockers. But for reasons that have nothing to do with how good they were. I first saw them in the AWA and by that time, to be honest, we'd ( "we" being me and my pal Joey was my only pal who also watched wrestling), we'd only watch the AWA if nothing else was going on, or out of a "It's wrestling, put it on." mentality. So we'd not really pay that much attention, and were all "Who are these two clowns ripping off the Rock N Roll Express and Midnight Express? Oh I think I saw their names in the PWI listings for Central States" and "Who The fuck is Doug Somers?" and leave it at that. And their big run in WWF was right during the time I wasn't really watching wrestling anymore, and when I did it was a random WCW Clash or Saturday Night. So I need to check out more than I've seen.
  18. I remember loving the Muraco/ Rocky Johnson Spectrum match that had the bullshit curfew finish.
  19. Dude, it came across fucking AWESOME on TV. Cole explaining that Cesaro doesn't hate America, just most Americans. He admires and likes the country. He works hard to take the opportunities that fat lazy Americans think should be given them. And in the awesome world of wrestling, a guy like that waves an American flag in the faces of fans. And the match was god damned killer. I usually find Orton a little dull, but this match was great thanks to both guys. Cesaro's getting that old school push, mainly because of his size, ability, size, and he's got no "Super Indy Worker Geek" label that Punk, and to an extent, Danial Bryan had. Difference there, is that as soon as Bryan showed that he's a great personality..the powers that be really got behind him. I'm sure they were all loving his wrestling style beforehand. Punk always had personality but had a lot of learning to do "wrestling-wise" to work WWF style.
  20. (Way to sell the joke, Bing. Why does Dorothy Lamour always end up with you again?) Anyway, Sure, offensive jokes, joking on Canadians, and Bret Hart fan abuse? I'm thinking that reminds me of someone.
  21. Jeez, I feel more snubbed than Ben Affleck.

  23. I don't think it is even close. You know me. I think it's the best match ever, period.
  24. Muraco was one of the best heels in WWF history. He was such a loud mouthed, sloppy, slob, beach bum asshole. I loved him. My favorite Muraco promo was from a Saturday morning show right after Backlund lost the belt. It was when they'd do the promos at ringside with no audience and one guy would do his and walk off camera and another guy would walk on from the opposite side. So Mean Gene, who had just got there, has Backlund out who's doing his heartfelt and tearful, "I let my fans down" deal. After Backlund walks away you hear off camera, "BOO HOO HOO! BOO HOO HOO!" and Muraco and Albano enter the shot totally goofing on Backlund. They're calling him a crybaby and a loser, and just mocking the fuck out of him. Muraco goes on how he's never cried ever and how Jimmy Snuka splashed him from the top of a steel cage, and did he cry? NO, he "stood up...and SPIT IN HIS EYE!" Gene is appalled by their behavior and it was all FUCKING AWESOME.
  25. While this is true, JBL spends more and more time on Smackdown bullying Josh Matthews than calling the action. I watch SD every week and I don't recall JBL ever taking Josh's lunch money or pushing him off the swings. And what's fun about that is most of the shit Josh says that JBL makes fun of is the shit Vince or whoever is feeding him on the headset.
